Amazfit Pace 2 / Stratos - Release Information - Amazfit

We've translated and compiled all the information from the release today of the new Amazfit Pace 2 (or Stratos).
http://amazfitcentral.com/2017/12/12/amazfit-pace-2-full-information/

' The only difference we could discern is the watch strap. The Premium apparently comes with a sports strap and a leather strap.'
2s have sapphire screen.

If the hardware is mainly the same, do you guys think we could update the old Pace with the enhanced software?

What are the new features in the firmware?

Logically, Amazfit will use the same firmware/branch just enable/disable some hw or marketing related features.

I'm a nobody on XDA and a spec of dust on of a reader on this PACE subforum, but I'm gonna tell you to trust me on this one: Firtsbeat HR processing algos (and the associated usage contracts and royalties that likely are the main driver of the HUGE price gap from the original Pace), are likely to make this device a hell of a lot more secure.
So I'd grab a good seat if you're waiting for any sort of custom firmware and/or translation from chinese to this, and with that any extension of functionality from the base hardware. Then again, the higher pricepoint might mean this will have an international audience, which in turn can lead to more english and other region support close to launch date.

The new version looks good. But i would not recommend anyone to purchase the new one, before they fix the issues with the old one. The gps measurements some times gets out of sync, so you are running in a parallel route. Also the gps power saving is to aggressive, so it doesn't update often enough. So all the corners are being cut.

Hello guys and Merry Christmas!
I suppose the version available for pre-order in amazfit official site is in Chinese only for now? Am I right or nobody can be sure for now?

I asked in the gearbest they answered that only Chinese language

They will release International version but God knows when... I hope sooner. I skipped first pace because of the design. This one in my opinion is just perfect!

March 6th maybe? 200-250 USD?

A bit too much when comparing with current one? Afaik, hw is basically same re-packed in more fancy case.

Hmm. No wireless charging but it has a USB C port. Not sure if I want to upgrade from the Nexus 6. Looks like I'll wait for the reviews since it will probably be like all other nexus phones and extremely hard to get at launch.

Interesting. I wonder what the price will be.

I can't believe it won't have wireless charging!
Does it really have to do with the metal body? Doesn't the s6 have a metal body?
Otherwise, all around solid phone!

No wireless charging is not a deal breaker for me, but I'll wait for confirmation in 3 days rather than believe what's being presented in this video.
Sweet! Like the USB C, battery size, etc.
They're the first manufacturer to actually list the SD 810 as the v2.1 version. Seems they're well aware of the issues its been facing

I hope this phone works on verizon
I love wireless charging... Especially in the car it is just so convenient. Count me in as dissapointed...
It appears Huawei has *NO* phones with wireless charging, so it is likely the N6p really won't have it. That's a major deal breaker for me. That's the most important feature in years. I have 5 wireless charging bases, including three in my house plus work and car. If I wanted a phone circa 2012 I'd buy an iPhone. Now, to research other phablets...

Probably because all of their phones have metal casing, can't charge wirelessly through metal.
Is the camera area actually raised, or does it just look that way? It seems like it would make making cases for it difficult. Also, I'm interested to see what the overall dimensions of the phone are. The top and bottom bezels look very large to me. If it's the same size as the current Nexus 6, that's a lot of wasted space. I really couldn't care less about the finger print sensor, or lack of wireless charging.

V2 was the first mass production revision, which was present in both the LG G Flex 2, and HTC One M9
...
Meanwhile there were rumors floating around of a new revision due to show up in the summer, and it appears that this is the rumored revision. This leads me to question whether it made sense to release devices with the v2 revision, especially if future revisions would have resolved some notable issues and dramatically improved SoC performance. I also question whether OEMs would silently introduce these SoCs into later production runs of products that first shipped with v2, which is yet another can of worms.
Putting these questions aside, this new revision brings much-needed improvements to the Snapdragon 810, and should go a long way as a stop-gap until Snapdragon 820 begins shipping. We'll see how the change from v2 to v2.1 affects performance on a higher level in our Xiaomi Mi Note Pro review coming shortly.

so HTC said they are using the v2.1, just like how qualcomm said there's no heat issue with the 810, how credible do you think those words are? by your logic, do you have to know someone with a Z4/Z3+ to know that it overheats?

Nobody claimed that it doesn't overheat!
OnePlus made a big fuss about v2.1 but they underclocked it to remedy the heat issue. Plus it's a thick phone with a plastic back so you don't feel it as much as you would with a metal phone which conducts heat or a thin phone like the Sony!

I am asking about Firmwareversion because older Firmwares can create trouble... to update...
Z300HDDU0AOIH for instance... and earlier Firmware...
So better check Firmwareversion before you use Odin.
Z300HDDU0AOJ4 should be safe and ready for update via Odin to:
Z300HDDU0AOJ6
Z300HODD0AOK1

phone arrived, updates through OTA ..everything is fine.
Do you think it will ever be available in the USA? Or will they wait until it is proven more?
my opinion is, that they will develop another phone, better than Z3, before launching it in US... tizen store its still in its early days, apps are very few..and most of them are like android apps from 4-5 years ago...
on the other side, the battery is amazing..i got 3-4 days of normal use, while on my Note 4 i got...maximum 2. at least double the time of usage.
the phone is VERY good for its price... i paid around $180 for it, shipment included...
once the big "players" develop good apps for emails, bank, G+,uber...games... tizen will be welcomed in EURO and USA...
after 1 year with Z3, probably a better "Z5" with better tizen store will be available worldwide...
That's sad oh well.

if you use the phone for its primary purposes..or as a second phone..its a wonderful phone.
its got Fb, Whatsapp, email, browser...everything you normally need. it lacks additional apps to make the life extra easy...

What do you think specs wise? For the z8, I'm assuming:
1080p screen
2.5 GB of RAM
2800Mah battery
5mp front camera
13mp back camera
Dual LED flash
Dual Sim
Micro sdxc card slot
Dual speakers
Fingerprint scanner
Gorilla glass 4
5.5 inch screen
Sent from my SGH-M919 using XDA Free mobile app
dual speakers means reduction screen to front ratio...and samsung is not a fan of this solution...not yet.
the rest..seems doable...
with 2600 battery i got 3-4 days of usage..twice as much as my former note 4...its amazing..

Yeah, you're right. No dual speakers
Sent from my SGH-M919 using XDA Free mobile app
the rest of the features will make the next tizen phone a really good option for the EUR and US markets, but due to the increase in price, probably will lose the current markets where the Z3 is for sale..
also, a little tizen update is necessary..a more polished and experienced OS...
dual apps on screen, light sensor... s-voice...change the 3rd hardware button to match note 4 si s6 usage and not as "options" anymore.. are also really welcomed...

Everything about the Nokia X6 the budget beast.

Nokia as a core brand in the world of mobiles has launched its budget beast which is the Nokia x6 which comes with a bezzel less display with a little tiny notch...that looks ****ty but still we have to accept that..cause it's the new trend..hurrah!!...****...but still you are getting a high-powered Nokia branded phone which is running under snap dragon 636
12 nm technology.....and you are getting a both 16 MP camera on both the sides of the phone....it's the only phone which will come with a notch in a budget section device list..and you are also going to get usb type c on this phone but the best point of buying this phone is for the Qualcomm quick charge 3.0 and yes it supports that.. above all you are going to get 19:9 screen to body ratio, Corning gorilla glass 3, adreno 509 GPU, android 8.1 out of the box and yeah the legendary NOKIA branding.

Only 2 things i wish i had control of, maybe one of you XDA geniuses can help me with.
First is % of the battery in the icon of status bar, it isn't in the battery section not in Systen Tuner UI.
second is to change the order of the back/home/recent apps buttons to recent apps/home/back in the order written here.

and then there's eBay, this one uses express shipping, and is where i bought from this time.

You can change the order, I've done it on mine. Just need to follow the instructions here: https://www.xda-developers.com/customise-the-navigation-bar-android-oreo/
You can remove the app once you've switched them and it stays the same . Now I just want someone to make a TWRP for this so I can change the video codec and I'll be happy.
Another thing i found is the colours are on the "cold" side, and i prefer warm. So what i did is put on night mode and put the intensity to minimum and voila!
The idea is from a review i saw on youtube.
Which color would look better on this model.. Black or white.. Any suggestions
It's a matter of taste, i like black.

Yeah a TWRP is eagerly needed.
I just received the phone, got it from Gearbest in a Flash Sale for 175 Euros. Added expedited delivery, so paid 180 in total. Delivered within a week! And no customs charges. Brucey bonus.
So far, I like it a LOT. It's only a smidge bigger than my Galaxy S7, but the screen is HUGE compared to it. And I love Android One - no bloat. It has some functionality I'd not seen before, I especially liked the "restore settings" from Google option, that literally put all my shizzle back.
The camera is probably the only downside, that's just not as responsive as the S7, it just takes that bit longer to focus, but to me that's no biggie, as I don't care all too much about photography.
The Snapdragon is nice & snappy (see what I did there?), and combined with 4GB of RAM & clean Android One, performance is excellent.
PS - I ordered the X6 International version, which, when started up, identifies itself as the 6.1. So if you order that one from Gearbest, you're good. Here's the link: https://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_009787976351.html?wid=1349303
Amazing that you can get a phone this good for so little money. And it's not a ridiculous 6.2" or bigger "phablet" either.

Mate 20 Pro alternatives in 2019

I know the Mate 20 pro re-appeared on Google’s Android Q Beta page, but I'm really not sure about what to do with the phone. It's great but the uncertainty is a bit worrying.
Is there anyone out there that has sold or is considering selling the mate20pro? If yes, which phones did you go for/are you considering?

Fair point, but it's just that if I think like that I'll have to stick to the mate20pro for another half year or so, most other "flagship" android phones have already been released for this year.. I reckon that the S10 or S10+ are the only ones that come close to the mate20pro in terms of camera versatility, battery, size, and I'd also get the headphone jack, which is nice.
Still not decided whether to sell it or not. I could sell it for max 400 EUR now...
In case I sell Mate then probably will chose between OP7 Pro and S10+. Each has pros and cons, but certainly I will miss Mate's camera. And charging speed (ok, OP is close here). And 3D face unlock..

So you'll stick to the mate20 pro for another 10 months or so? I'm not trying to be sarcastic or anything, we might be lucky and they figure it all out in the next couple of weeks/months but it could take much longer and then the re-sell value of the mate20pro will be very low (apart from the risk of not having an updated Android version).
I have the same problem. Only phone what can change is P30 Pro but good one model, without reed, orange color problem in camera.
S10 Plus is finr but still no even close to Mate 20 Pro.
Im still on my Mate 20 Pro and I cant change it, because P30 Pro is still expensive for me. But the price is falling day by day for my Mate 20 Pro.

For me it's related to the security updates, maybe we'll stop getting them within a couple of months, we just can't be sure at this point. If that should happen (hopefully it won't!) the phone wouldn't sell for anything really, so it's sort of sell while it's still sellable.

Yep, thinking exactly the same. Sadly for me there is no proper alternative right now.
OP7 camera is dissapointing (according to feedbacks on OP forums), it has ghost touch issues (probably SW related, so fixable)..
S10+ on the other hand has desperately slow charging, camera is good but still a no match for Mate's in poor light conditions
Well, probably will sell my Mate soon and anyway take one of the above devices. As you say, it may happen that in few months this phone won't be sellable

But it's a relatively new device, I'm not really ok with not getting security updates. There's a reason those are rolled out, and it's not just to protect users from shady download sites.

Be honest now, when have you ever checked security update schedules for any of your devices since mobile phones became common place? Before purchasing.

You are right, it's not the first thing I look at. The truth is that I started worrying more and more about security as I got older, probably because I have way more sensitive information now than I had in my teens (banking apps and stuff, emails, whatsapp which yes, I could all remove, but that defeats the purpose of a smartphone) - it's the principle that matters.
Also, another thing is that it could well be that in some months we all have to install Ark OS, which allegedly will work with android apps but that's not what I signed up for when I spent almost $1k on this phone.
It's like buying an electric car and after one year they tell you that it's a hybrid now.
Got an iPhone XS Max 256 GB and i love it ! I still have my mate 20 pro. Maybe I will sell it but I got used to iOS so quick and it is really good. I got a used one from swappa less than 800 and it works great. I’ve been an Android fan for some years now but I think I might like the iPhone better also I live in USA and iMessage is a must here. Don’t be afraid of using other OS. Camera is great as well. No night mode or ultra wide but the standard pictures IMO are more flattering and taking pictures it’s instant. I took a bunch of pictures and colored side by side and surprisingly I like the iPhones better. Just wanted to tell you my experience

All current devices will continue to receive security updates and access to google play, Future devices may not but as it appears Google and Huawei are working together. Of course everything published is negative is that not the way it always is? Doom and gloom first then reality. I just bought a P30 Pro on device upgrade yesterday for cheap 350 in canada and my mthly plan stayed pretty much the same as it ws prior, in fact I got more data , I am in Canada. I am not too concerned, in fact if I opt for the Mate 20 I can save another 100 but damn the 10x zoom is so appealing, yet to open box
I think this is not a really big issue, even if you can't get auto update on your Huawei.
Google can't stop you install the software
such a nice phone what a pity to throw away
I'll probably get Pixel 4 or Pixel 4XL somewhere in November - December. Don't want one more Chinese phone anymore.

Amazfit Verge lite

Hello all,
Amazfit verge lite has launched 2 weeks ago now I think..
Just wondering has anyone got there hands on one yet?? If so what is like?
The thing that impresses me about this new watch is the battery life which is supposed to be 20 days on average use and also the price...it's a good watch for €75
I have the Amazfit Pace watch already and it's a great watch...but as @GreatApo stated recently that there will be no more updates for this watch by Huami so I guess it's at the end of shelf life
So share your thoughts please and especially if you have this watch....I'm hoping it will be a popular watch with lots of development behind it.
Thanks for reading.

If you looking for Verge lite, then better, i think, is to buy Verge at all. Verge lite is cutted version of Verge. If i understand right Verge lite have less sport modes as Verge, but have better battery usage experience. If with Verge you can be quiet 5 days with Verge lite you can be quiet about 20 days (information by Amazfit Verge web site). This is once good thing in Verge lite. About Verge lite in China Amazfit there is no information about memory at all. There is no information about possibility listen music without phone, there is no information about microphone or soundspeaker and ect. So Verge if this information is full in China Amazfit web site, then verge by specification is better choice. But keep in mind that there is in China already Verge 2, how calling some web site, or Nexo as calling China Amazfit web site it. I think this watch is better in many ways: better material, have some new features related with heart tracking and some others which have Verge
About Nexo you can find here - https://cn.amazfit.com/nexo.html. I believe that in China you don't understanding, so use Google translate

I think Verge lite is more like Bip in terms of software. I wouldn't compare it with Verge.
About the Pace updates, to avoid misunderstandings, I don't remember stating sth like that and even if I did say sth similar that doesn't come from Huami but my personal view.

But Verge lite is similar to Verge, just is less features and ect. It's like Verge's little brother/sister Even looks is the same or similar to each other

Indeed it has the same or similar design/body, however, with that battery life and features it is a bip in a verge's body
I guess we will find out in the near future

Really? Are you sure? Bip can be without charge by Amazfit about 45 days, Verge lite - 20 days, Verge - 5 days. Different between these models (all) is 25 (BIP vs Verge lite) and 15 days (Verge lite vs Verge). Specifications is almost the same which have Verge, so which models is closer to each other? :victory:

Most/All power goes to the screen. Both verge feature an amoled, hence higher consumption. If bip had an amoled would also fall in the 20days category. That is the logic behind my thoughts, but of course I may be wrong.
I also think Verge Lite is more like "the new Bip", but with improved screen, main reason why battery life goes 45 -> 20 days.

If you like stratos chassis, go for stratos, but other than that and the waterproof feature, it is almost the same watch. Verge has an amoled screen, not visible under sun but better resolution and colors, however, the new Nexo watch may be better so if I were you I would wait to see some reviews and a global release.

A proper technology geek should always have a Chinese package on the way ??
Nexo has 28h battery life on 4G. But lest see it in practice first.

Yes only 24 hours, but with 4G connection, which "eating" device battery very much. But you know what is most funny thing? For example Samsung or others manufactors much more expensive smart watches can't be more as this or similar time without 4G, so how much they will be if they have 4G?

Today i read about Vertge 2 (known as Nexo), this watch will be animal in a certain aspect, even if you are in China. You can unlock with this watch your car (specific model) and to start it. Also this watch will call emergency help if you will be need it in some kind of situation and for that will no need smartphone (as i understand). There is eSim (by the way it works only in China) with 4G, which by the way copied from Apple's watch (in source was written that). Of course heart rate tracking which have much more power and you will be warming about unusual activity of it and ect. Also more powerful processor and ect. What's else? Oh i forgot to write, with 4G it can be without charge about 30 hours (exactly 28h), but this is with activated 4G, without 4G (working as i mentioned only in China yet) probably can be alive without charger 2 - 3 days as was mentioned in source. So it's not bad. Resoliution is better as Verge, more as 400, i can't remember excatly 460x460 or 480x480. AMOLED display and memory the same. About mircophone/sounspeaker is not mentioned, but will be strange if will not be it. But need to check about it. So if you need advise and if for you don't care possibility to talk with caller via watch or to listen music without phone via headphone Nexo i think is the best choice right now from not expensive models. By the way price must be from 125 to 180 euros, so it's really not expensive if to see what you will get with it And finally word: Verge 2 will be some models: average and something others
Change internal watchfaces
Hey guys! Does anyone know if I can and how to overwrite the internal watchfaces? I'm gonna give my Verge Lite to a friend and I've made a watchface for him, but everytime I unpair, the watchface goes back to the default.
