So my Galaxy S II I9100M was updating, and I, unknowingly wiped data/factory reset'd my phone with the Siyah 3.1.1 kernel (which I now know has problems)
So this turned bad, because it got stuck there for a long time. No problem, this happens sometimes? No.
I reset the phone, try to re-install the Resurrection ROM but my emmc will no longer show up. Factory reset is a nogo again, but I have another rom on my extsd, which does install, but doesn't boot.
I go into odin, download mode etc, flash xxlph onto the phone, but here's the kicker:
the odin flash gets stuck at data.img
yadayadayada lots of different rom flashes later, none go past data.img
I can flash kernels, get into recovery mode with non-stock kernels, and get into download mode, but the /data partition doesn't format. I even tried a specific kernel for recovery, rogue recovery, and that can't format it either.
Neither can it find the cache partition for logs.
formatting the /data from mounts and storage gives the error "format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk1p10"
I saw somewhere (galaxy player 5 forums) that one can use adb to reset the partition sizes, but I have no table either. But I could find one. But I still don't know how to.
Anyone have any ideas and/or alternatives?
Love you all

From the sound of it the only way to recover from this is with a JTAG, any other info about it is likely in that thread.
Thank you very much. Thread can be closed
Hi, i recently updated my A3 2017 to Android 8. It was a bad Idea because I want to root it now. I found a couple of Threads about this topic, but i want something that explains it to 100%(easy). Please Help
download android latest 8 firmware
put magisk on the sd
flash the firmware with odin but uncheck auto reboot
once the flashing is complete disconnect the usb and press power+home+vol down buttons until the screen is black
once is black press them again until the phone reenters download mode
then flash twrp as ap
then boot into twrp but dont let the device boot in to os
go mount check if data is mountable if not wipe and check again
then flash magisk and you are good to go

I tried all that. Won't work. Every time I start to system and go back to TWRP later, Data is not mounted anymore. I tried al lot. Always went back to TWRP right after, without bootin to system. At first, Data is mounted. But when I start to System, it seems to unmount Data again.
I flashed stock rom, went to TWRP right after, allowed modifications, flashed magisk, then rebooted, Data is mounted, booted to stock, reooted to TWRP, Mount is gone.

I used different DM-verities. Unmountable Data comes back in any case.
It helps to format Data or change file system and the change back. BUt after bootin to system, Data is unable to be mounted again.

Hi, did you find a working solution to have moutned data in twarp und magisk installed?
I am having the exact same issue. If anyone could shed some light on how to get magisk on this phone it would be very appreciated.
To all the people with the problem of TWRP losing /data mount after reboot:
I've had the exact same issue, didn't matter which version of TWRP I've been using or how often I've been trying to reformat/repair /data.. The solution was to use an modified recovery. One of these will do:
Orangefox: works well, the only thing that bugs me with R11.0 is that it won't remember the current time setting (it always boots with the time set to around 9 am)
Pitch Black Recovery: will mount data, nice styling, however it's still not perfectly adjusted to the a3 (first release). Progress bars & counters might overlap with other displayed items, flashlight won't work.
Skyhawk: The one that I'm currently using. Doesn't seem to have any apparent bugs and can be styled to ones liking.
All of these gave me access to the /data partition, hope they will work for y'all as well.

Thanks a lot.
Do these recoveries need all repartition for vendor support before flash them ?

You don't have to use it if you stay stock.
I successfully rooted my Samsung Galaxy A320FL using the procedure linked below. I also managed to fix fingerprint feature and banking apps and to move whatsapp media folder to SD card.
Here is how I did:
How to root Samsung A3 (2017) - Guide
I successfully rooted my Samsung Galaxy A320FL following more or less this guide (I know, it's a video and that's annoying, but it's also very clear. And there is a text version linked in description), with some modifications though. I will...
forum.xda-developers.com
Hope this helps, it took a lot of time to me to retrieve all the information, so I hope that the linked guide will be useful for someone!
So, I managded to completely mess up my phone, it WAS working on a pie GSI, then it wasnt, decided not to boot, nothing... so, wiped everything, tried re-flashing the GSI, still nothing, so... i though, ok, fine, ive got the dload folder on my sdcard, i used it 2 weeks ago...
Tried dload, got message 'install failed, incompatible version, please download a compatible version'
so, i rebooted into fastboot, flashed the stock kernel, ramdisk and recovery, and tried again, still no success, so reflashed TWRP, tried flashing a pie GSI i know worked, nothing, just a black screen on boot, so i've now flashed back to havokOS oreo (which boots) but i cant do anything else, im stuck, i really need to reset my phone to its factory OS and start from a clean slate...
Anyone have any ideas on what to do?
--- edit ---
internal storage is reporting back as 3gb.... so either partitions are messed up, or my flash chip is dying
have you trie the official factory firmware . Theres instructions in it too on how to flash it
https://androidhost.ru/6er
Your sdcard or USB-OTG flashdrive MUST be EXFAT formatted.
Test you have a working sdcard or USB-OTG with windows app 'h2testw'.
I sorted it out, wiped sdcard, copied dload files out of the zip back onto it, and it worked, somehow the files on the sdcard must have become corrupt
