VP9 videos on Youtube works fine now. I have played for sometime @1080P. There is no issues now.

All Youtube videos are now playing perfectly.
The last public build (1035) has broken the Youtube VP9 video playback. It's fixed now in 1560.
Hi, we must download it or it can have OTA download ?
After 1035, Xiaomi has switched to more closed OTA delivery.
OTA is currently available only to those who has signed up for closed beta.
You can just put it in your internal storage or a usb drive and manually update it through recovery mode.
If you are already in build 1035, it's better to update to this one. Else, just stay on official MM. Beta updates may have some known/unkown bugs (like what we have faced with build 1035)

Will this work on the US version? Thought I had read somewhere not to use the International firmware on the US? any truth to that?

Well, now about a week later can't play anything using youtube app, it just freezes when the video starts or in better case (very rare) its supper choppy)
Tried to reset the you tube app. remove upgrade and then reinstall it, but nothing helps
Playing video from youtube using Chrome browser works fine, Addon in Kodi can't get pass the app verification when I like to sign in ( youtube plays fine though)
Any ideas ?

I got the same problem with v1028 build. All of sudden youtube app doesn't work any more. I had to uninstall all youtube app updates to get it work and switch screen resolution to 1080p 50hz to watch 60hz videos on youtube.

Same problem for me after upgrade to 1560 and then fow grade to 1028.
Today y factory reset the 1028 and all works perfect again

I uninstalled latest youtube update, cleared data and cache. Set mi box like adaptive hdmi and automatic screen detection. rebootet, logged in in old youtube everything was working, than i updated to latest version again and its working now too. i can only recommend to play with settings and uninstall, re-install again. it will work somehow! having 2 boxes over here and one was working all the time, the other one didn't. Now both are running quite good with build 1028.
Is there another update?

I wouldn't advise updating the Netflix app. I did yesterday and now I only get audio and no video. I'm running CM7 beta. Can anyone using stock or another rom confirm if yours is working. I saw in the app market comments that others were having problems as well but haven't seen anything over here.
I have stock gingerbread and I don't have any video issues. Although I was getting like a fast forward audio/video thing when I started a movie. It corrected after I stopped and started it. I like it better because they fixed the orientation situation.

Well I guess it's a cm7 problem like the HBO to Go app. Damn, I love the rom but this needs to be fixed. Hopefully I can flash a backup to get it going again.
yup i had the same issues. i just re-installed a backup of 1.4.0 and it works fine again.
Well, I did a cwm restore from a backup I did 2 days ago. I opened netflix and gave me an error about my device being deactivated, I just clicked through the ok's and it logged me out. I logged back in and all was well. Also, after reviewing the bug reports on CM7, I came across an interesting fix that may work for plex, I'll post the link below in the hopes that it will help somebody.

No I didn't. Didn't work on hbo to go. Figured out it was a work around for plex only. The settings are found within plex I believe.

I'm running a rooted at&t stock atrix g4 and have no problems with Netflix.
OK so YouTube only let's you play 720p videos I found a work around for rooted users to use 1440p.
Install the latest YouTube 5.18.5 http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/youtube/youtube-5-18-5-apk/ (link from yourtube developer GermainZ)
Now you need root explorer app or something similar. Find the build prop file make a backup then long press and open in text editor. Now find ro.build.version.release=4.4.4 and change it to ro.build.version.release=5.0 save and exit. reboot device. You should now be able to select 1080p and 1440p on the compatible YouTube videos.
If that doesn't work Install xposed installer go to the downloads section and install and activate the latest yourtube reboot and it should work.

Searched Google for 2 days to try figure this out ppl saying revert back to old versions of YouTube or change build prop to 4.4.2 instead of 4.4.4 none of this worked for me didn't relies there was already a topic either way it's making ppl who use the note 4 and don't know that they can get better video playback in YouTube aware of it.

Check you have the right version of yourtube for the right version of youtube. Ive had to roll back to a earlier version of yourtube to continue using it (cant be bothered updating youtube to latest version yet, it will come when its ready)

Tried the youtube version in OP with yourtube. It didnt crash but only shows 720p
Update: ok. Got the latest youtube v6+ material design... and now all 1440p works fine

Installed and runs fine. No joy im affraid. 720p max. It is so new, both yourtube and youtube add block dont support it yet =p
Tried wiping via titanium, still no joy.

I have been using youtube app on kitkat 4.4.2. Then i upgraded to 5.0.2 and now whenever I open any video on youtube app... I get the error.
" connection to server lost..... touch to retry"
I dont know of any permanent fix but usually a reboot fixes it.
Typically ive found pausing a video before closing the app seems to prevent it from happening as often :/
Go in Developer Settings and DISABLE "use NuPlayer". Worked perfectly for me.

Have you tried the solution I mentioned above? It should fix the issue permanently.
None of the solutions above works for me except a reboot. I've also noticed when this happens the camera, stock movies app and embedded videos in the browser do not work.

I have found the same problem in the stock pretty rooted ROM and am now currently using existenz y. I have yet to use the purely stock Sony ROM.

I have your exact problem and I have tried a fully stock ftf. It's something in the video decoder going wrong, according to logcat. It is extremely annoying.
I still have this problem on 5.1.1 stock!!

Same problem My son has the same smartphone and same version 5.0.2 and no issues. Both are rooted. Everything works fine after reboot and after few hours doesn't work YouTube app, video recording and video playback in stock video player app...
Same here. After couple of times when launching YouTube the error appears. I didn't try the camera, but going to YouTube via browser (except opera) also gives an error. Maybe Google will fix it someday.....

All non certified devices are being blocked, you will either get an update in a few days or your device will no longer be supported by netflix until i find a work around

Also Netflix says error code ui-800-3 and hbo go (5.1) error code. Everything else streams ok. Have you encountered this error?

Try a couple of successive full factory resets from settings menu
Are you geoblocked? What country do you live in?
Tried a lot of resets. I have netflix on all my devices, I am from România. Maybe it is because I bricked a while ago and restored it using usb tool?
