Google Maps "Can't connect to Maps. Try again later" - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have been using Google Maps on my 4.2 Android Car DVD (Odin Unbranded) for over a year.
Recently it has stopped working properly and it shows this screen:
https://imgur.com/a/YuBlf
I have tried:
- Older Google Maps Version
- Restart
- Erase Cache and "Uninstall and reinstall"
- Uninstall Google Play Services
The positioning works fine, but whenever trying to "find directions, it does that"
The weird thing is, is that is randomly sometimes just works, however with every Maps update, it's extremely slow on this 1 GB ram device. Is there some kind of modified LITE google maps version? (Google Maps Go does not provide real time navigation)

Problem - Google Play only showing first 10 apps, Help?

Hey everyone,
I hope this is in the right section. But just recently i noticed my phone acting weird. Seems when i open google play store and do a search, Most recently i did "Weather Widgets"
It will return with like 6000 app results. Normally when you click the apps bar it takes you to the app results, When you scroll down and you reach the end of the list it will auto load the next group of apps.
Well now when that happens it no longer loads anymore results and it stays stuck on the first 10~15.BUT this is the weird part.. IT ONLY DOES IT FOR APPS and GAMES.
Music and Books the list loads as usual.
So far i have wiped the cache / data and just tried uninstalling the recent update and took it back to version 3.7.15 but google play auto updates itself back to 3.8
This really sucks. Anyone know how to stop google play from auto updating? soon as i wipe it back to 3.7 it auto updates back to 3.8
Nevermind - Resolved.
I guess somewhere along the line when gapps updates to 3.8... it no longer likes the device ID. I checked it and its DROIX but 3/4 of the apps on the market dont show.
So i downloaded Device spoofer and setup gapps as a Nex S. works like a charm

HTC (network) Location issue

http://www.pocketables.com/2013/05/...auses-location-errors-on-some-htc-phones.html
Anyone else having issues on our HOX+ with network location being "stuck" in HTC Weather and in some (not all) apps (like Facebook, Google Earth and possibly foursquare)?
A reboot fixes this issue for a while, only viable solution is to use GPS.
Latest play store from here does not do anything, I'll wait for the update to be officially pushed just in case it does fix this.

Yes, I had the issue as well.. I spent two weeks figuring out what was going on, till I found a topic on the Google Product Forums.. Guess you did find it too, because you mention the new Play Store.
Right after installing the 4.1.10 Play Store and a reboot, nothing happened. So I followed a suggestion from that particular topic which was to "reinitialize the location services via Google Now"
This is what I did after installing the new Play Store and that first reboot afterwards:
- I disable the location services in Settings -> Locations.
- Go to Google Now (I enabled it, because it was disabled)
- It told me that all location services were disabled. I then enabled the location services (except gps), agreed with the privacy stuff
- On my phone, Google Now kept saying that all services are disabled. So it seemed there wasn't a single change..
- Second reboot: BINGO! Weather widget showed the name of the city instead of "current location" and everything was working again.
- Disabled Google Now.
I don't know if the Google Now stuff actually helped (I doubt it), or it was just the locations off/on switching and a second reboot, but hey... It works (for me)
Hmm didn't try to reinitialize the location services, that's probably why 4.1.10 didn't work for me
Gonna try now, quick question, how do I disable/enable Google Now? I'm in greek locale, I don't get an enable/disable option in Google Now settings.
edit: followed your instructions, sadly location worked for a while, now is broken again :/
rebooted again, location worked, tried after 20 minutes, location broke.

Hmm.. that's weird.. I am not sure what happens after 20 minutes.. It works allright the first 20 mins? (Clock widget shows your city name and touching "My Location" in Maps points to your current location etc?)
There is actually one thing I forgot to mention in my previous post that might be critical in the whole situation: I cleared the app data of 'Google Play Services' and 'NetworkLocations'.
In the last couple of days, I installed and uninstalled Google Play Services multiple times, but I am pretty sure that I didn't after I installed the new Play Store. But I'd recommend you to update Google PS to the latest version and wipe its app data, just to be sure. (Settings -> Applications -> All Applications -> Google Play Services). My phone is in Dutch, but I'm sure you'll get it!
dahwe it always shows a location in HTC Weather, its just that after a while (about 30 minutes to an hour) location in HTC Weather is stuck, doesn't change if I move to another city, and most other apps can't get a fix.
Weird thing is that Google Latitude works fine!
I just did the following steps, let's hope it will work:
1) Installed latest Play Store (link in first post)
2) Uninstalled Google Play Services completely
3) Disabled Location Services (all of them) in Settings -> Locations
4) Cleared data in the following apps:
a) Network Location (ver 1.1.10)
b) Location Picker (1.7.470938)
c) HTC Weather Location Service (1.0.222etc)
Reboot
5) Install download Google Play Services (3.1.36 669520-36 I think)
Reboot (once again)
6) Enable Location Services (except GPS) in Settings -> Locations
Reboot (yes, again, it's free )
Let's see if that does it.
By the way I may have discovered a workaround to the location issue. Seems that sometimes, when location breaks, simply checking and checking Location Services (except GPS) in Settings -> Locations fixes it for a while.
Will wait to see if it breaks again to test it out.
edit: after about an hour, location still seems to work.
edit: aaaaaand after a couple of hours, broken again.

[Q] issue in google play services

hi i have a problem with google play services,
i have s5 clone (sm-g900s) mtk6582 with android version:
KOT49H.G900SKSU1AND3 – S105_XLSF – SM-G900S_V16 – G900SKSU1AND3
the thing is that every restart when i'm going to youtube app the youtube prompts me to
update the google play services version and when i'm updating it (from version 5 to 6)
everything is fine until the next restart, again going to youtube app and getting the same message
repeating to update the google play services this is very annoying and frustrating
anyone familiar with this or has a solution to this?

Remix OS Google Map

I install Google Map in Remix OS 2.0 on my desktop, but it cannot show the location and the app hang. ...
Please help.
Lawrence
Same problem here. I guess we need to wait for the next OS release to get this fixed. By the way, Google earth and Sygic are working.
Best, maris
I have exatly the same problems. Google Maps and any apps using Google Maps don't work. The problem is probably as Remix doesn't recognize properly location.

Sorry to hear about that. Do you have any other google apps installed? Go to settings and applications. Select google play store. Delete data. Open chrome and type in the search field "google play services", should take you to the google play store and it should update google play services. Install the "google" app and make sure the cards are working (to make sure play services is working correctly). Go back to settings and then put location settings on "high accuracy". Make sure google maps is set on full screen. Then launch google maps.
Nothing help. Google Services can't be updated as it's ... updated to the latest version. Apk Google works with some little problems but it works. Maps are in full screen - doesn't help. Cashe cleaned - same, nothing. Maybe next Remix version will change it.
Sampe problem here, it's cannot load the map
Google maps cannot detect your location as you are using desktop and it does not have a gps or and google maps search for gps and gets crashed because theres no gps so eighter remix os have to disable gps but it cant because some devices have gps
Same problem here Laptops do not have a GPS. I have set the location services to Network WIFI only and still cant find my location. Google maps crashed and all other apps that use location will not give me my location.

'Google play services updating'?

I recently got a black shark 3 pro CN version from Giztop (2 days ago). Device is great and I absolutely love it. However I noticed an issue whilst using Google maps or any app that requires maps access. In Google maps, my location never gets pinpointed as nothing happens when I ask the app to access my location. Similarly, an app requiring Google maps service to work functions. I get an error saying 'google play services updating'.
Another issue I've noticed is if I use the Google play games app to launch a game, nothing happens. Which led me to the conclusion that my Google play services are not installed properly. And yes I've given permissions to all Google apps.
I've tried deleting my gapps and re-installing them using Google installer but that still hasn't fixed the issue. Please help me solve this issue, thank you.

Edit: I have solved the problem, using the steps in this link:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/dkdwie/guide_how_to_fix_gps_and_notification_issues_for/
Now Google maps and Google pay + Google play games have started responding normally!
This is not the solution.
The solution is enable all permissions and autostart in all google services and also permit no restrictions in miui battery optimization.
And the last and most important stage, Enter Locations by clicking long press on the button in the status bar, enter app permissions, choose "google play services" and click "always allow".
Thats it, you don't need to touch the supl server.
There is only one problem I found out. The Google services framework service "No restrictions" always return to "Miui battery saver" after restart and need to set it again. That make the compass on google maps to not work properly if you leave it in battery saver mode.
Hope it will help.
I'm having the same issue (Google services are updating) and did everything all Google apps & services have full permissions and still not solved.
Anyone know how to fix it.
