Hi! Long time reader, fist time caller here So I have a Sprint LG V30+ and have noticed a few issues over the last month and was wondering if it's just me.
Issue 1: Sometimes when picking up a call with speakerphone it'll work then suddenly switch to handheld audio. I end up having to toggle the speakerphone off and on again to fix it. It consistently happens if I'm on a call and someone else tries calling me.
Issue 2: Volume control sometimes thinks it's controlling Bluetooth audio even when Bluetooth is not enabled. Again a quick toggle of Bluetooth usually resolves this but it's still a pain.
Anyone seeing any of the above issues with their phone and have any suggestions on how to resolve them?
Hey, Sprint customer here too.. I have very less earpiece volume even though its set to max. And also I am not happy with the call audio. My LG v20 gives me far better call audio than this. I dont know if this is the problem with the network or software.
My ear piece volume is loud for me where I turn it down a notch or two and I have hearing problems. This phone is louder in the ear piece than my iPhone 7 plus. The speaker is not as loud. I have the t mobile model.
Sprint V30+ as well. I have very low earpiece volume while on a call but none of the other issues.
Low call volume.
Hey guys there is a simple fix for the low in call volume. Use your drop down menu and you should see something that is called calling plus. Toggle it and BAM volume fixed. It works with WiFi and LTE. Hope this helps guys.

Quick question for anyone who may be able to answer this.
Has anyone noticed a low volume when the speaker phone is ON while making a call?
The phone speakers are awesome when you play music. Also normal call volume is very good. However, when I turn the speaker phone ON during a call, the sound from the speakers doesnt seem to be that great. Infact it is quite faint.
Any one else has the problem?? Also does anyone know any solutions??
Used the speaker phone yesterday for the first time and must admit even set to the highest it was piss poor low, very disappointed as like you said the speaker when playing music or video is fantastic.

this is my problem too, even my X10 mini beats the XPS! I need a louder speaker phone...
I also have this problem with a very very low sound when speakerphone is ON during the phone conversation. I have the latest software 2.3.7.I have had 4 Android phones before Xperia S and did not had such a basic problem. After all the quality conversation is mobiles priority number one before all the media, design, display and etc in my opinion. It is so low that I don't hear 50% of the conversation on a speakerphone when am I alone in a room. Please don't give any solutions like turn up the volume during conversation and all other settings since I have done it already. This is simple a manufacturers software mistake. Sony please take this seriously and don't embarrass on such a basic thing in phone like speakerphone volume. Everything else on this phone is great, only problem is a loose cover for the micro usb that you use everyday to charge the phone.
Strangely, when I switched to speaker mid call yesterday the other person commented that I got A LOT clearer for them Didnt sound quiet for me either, though I was in a quiet environment so it wasnt competing with anything.
Did you turn on xLOUD?

Thats for music with the music player.
hi all xperia s users. i've recently become an owner of this phone and i am very pleased overall with its performance and design.
but during phone calls the speaker isn't loud enough, especially while traveling on the bus and in other laud places.
but i have noticed that when i play music from the phone's speaker it is much louder, so it is not an issue of the hardware, but the volume seems to be limited during a normal phone call.
so can the volume during taking phone calls can be increased in some way beyond its current maximum value?
cheers
lucas
+1 to this issue. The speaker phone is very subdued compared to music when its played through the speakers.
I am on 62 firmware, has this issue been fixed in later updates?
any help guys?
yeah I have noticed the volume is low, never used to be!!
Anyone found a way to fix this?
speaker volume
since it works fine in walkman and videos it's not problem of the hardware as it is obvious....i had an lg 2x before xperia s and i flashed a newer baseband and the noise in calling gone and the volume fixed....even when i install cm9 ics the speaker in calling got even louder...so i think it would be kind to search for a better solution by software such as try some basebands or kernels...but to flash this we need root...so if you hope for a fix root required otherwise we can stay as we are now...
This is a flaw that Xperia S came with. The Loudspeaker during call. Cant really say if its a hardware problem or software.
when I make a call, the earpiece makes a staticy popping noise. I turn the call volume down and it's still somewhat there but I can't help but think there's something wrong with the earpiece. Do this happen to anyone else?
Does it still do it if you uncheck voice privacy in the dialer settings? That would be my only suggestion.
I experience the same thing. I have to lower the volume to make it go away. I tested my earpiece on other phones (touch pro 2 and iphone 4s) and I don't experience the same static even at the highest level. I suspect that the lte is pushing higher frequencies that some headsets cannot handle. I tried different equalizer settings without any changes. I took a higher quality headset and the distortion goes away confirming my theory. I don't think some headsets can handle the full range of frequencies that the lte pushes out. Does anyone know of any mods that will alter the frequency more than the stock settings?
similar problem, but with playing videos... (at least with some of them)

that seems to have done it, will test it further but for right now thank!
having the same problem, constant ticking noise coming from the earpiece speaker when I make a call, and its only on my end. Tried the solutions mentioned above, still got the issue. No problems with bluetooth or using the speaker phone
I'm having the same issues, doesn't seem to happen on every call. But it only happens on my end where I hear the cracking noise. The person on the other end says I sound fine. Does anyone know I can do?
This is an EVO problem

I have the same problem... sometime it sounds ok, then some call sound like crap! Then I started testing it and found that it happens 100% of the time... just on one end of the phone. If you are having this problem, make a call... If it sounds good to you, ask the person on the other end of the phone how you sound! You will see that one of the two people will have bad call quality, making this a problem 100% of the time!
Has anyone else been having issues with the microphone volume being low on the EVO LTE, especially when doing any VOIP stuff? Whenever I use skype or talk (or even GrooveIP), the person on the other end can barely (and I mean barely) hear me. I see no obvious way to adjust microphone volumes. I never had the issue with the OG EVO.
I've had my M8 for about a day now and I'm very happy with it. I really love how you can now set up the volume rocker as a shutter button...finally!
Unfortunately my phone has an issue where the top speaker crackles in two situations, both when the volume is at the max setting. The first situation is when placing an outgoing call the top speaker crackles with every ring. Not too bad a situation by itself. But that top speaker also crackles along with peoples' voices. No other issues when listening to music either via Google Music or Pandora. I even tried to install an equalizer app to tone down the mid range but the crackles persist.
Hopefully this is the only phone with this issue but I did want to share this with the community. I'm heading to an AT&T store later today to exchange it for another unit.
You are not alone. I bought two brand new phones (ATT Version) in ebay. Both had the same issues. I am in the process of returning them. When you dont have proper reception of the voice call, the unwanted noise gets amplified. The phone does not have proper noise filter. My ear pains sometime. When this phone cannot be used as a basic phone, then I dont want to waste my money. Apart from that, this phone has lot of other issues like bluetooth, sluggish sometime, battery, intermittent touch response issues, etc.... mentioned in the various forums in the internet.
The sound quality on the bottom speaker and the external look are the ones worth mentioning which stand outs from other phones. My experience with HTC One M8 is very bad and I am not going to get another HTC product.
I bought mine three days ago and I notice a little bit of crackling as well. It happens when the volume is at max is not a strong cracklings but I can hear it, should I go to at&t to get a replacement?
