Hi guys!
I am using a Redmi Note 4x (Snapdragon). Non rooted. Dev Mode on, unlocked boot loader, oem, usb debug.
Just want to seek your help regarding an accident I encountered while trying to lock LTE band 41 in diag mode using QXDM (Saw the process here in XDA). It happened when I took a leak and saw my younger sibling tinkering with the laptop I am using. I suppose he clicked on 'offline', 'read', 'write' and/or 'reset' while I was away.
When I went back every value in the NV Browser LTE section turned to zero. All I have is the initial value of LTE BC Config which I jot before I left. Everything else is in zero.
My phone is still working but is now stucked in 3G.
Hope you can help me. THANK YOU!

hye..i have same problem..same device..please help.me
I’m stuck with same problem here too. Not connecting to 4G despite re-entering default values.
Any clue?
To answer myself and anyone who might be stuck, I found that QXDM corrupted my nvram, so the only way to fix that was to find a compatible qcn backup file and restore it onto the phone. That immediately fixed 4G but obviously changed my imei which I easfixed using an editor afterwards.
Hope this helps, and long live mido!

So. I've had my S3 for quite awhile now currently on 3 network. Something really odd happened though.
I was able to use it normally in the morning, once I got to the afternoon it I lost all network.
The only thing that I can use to connect to anything is Wifi
Usually there would be a little "H" symbol next to my signal bar when it's full. Now there is nothing but the full signal bar.
When I pull the notification bar down I see a Emergency calls only though I have full signal
I've gone into Settings>More settings>Mobile networks>Network operators to see if I can find a way to connect. I can choose from the networks on screen. Yet it tells me Unable to connect. Try later. I select "Select automatically" which doesn't help either, as it tells me "Registered on network" WHAT NETWORK?!
The Network mode is on Auto
My Mobile Data is on.
My Apn is on "3 WAP"
I've tried rebooting the phone.
Restoring to factory settings.
Turning phone to Flight mode then off again.
Re-inserting Sim.
I've even rooted the phone to see if it would work!!
Can anyone help me solve this ridiculous puzzle? :crying:
Thank you for your time.
Mine is the same. On 3UK in Leicester

Last time I hd this issue, it was caused by a faulty SIM.
I think you have some really bad news. I looks like your efs folder is messed up.
you need send it back if in warranty.
otherwise you can get it repaired from some service centre. They will use SPT or some other repair tool to fix this issue.
You see full bars because you phone uses any available signals for SOS call.
Otherwise it will not lock to network.

Hi! since you are new here, have you read the Forum Rules? not that you've done something wrong but just to get you informed
Here are some suggestions i can give you
okay. if ONE fails, do TWO. if TWO fails, do THREE. if THREE fails, do FOUR.
ONE: reboot
TWO: try doing factory reset (don't forget to backup) / wiping caches
THREE: root your phone and flash another modem
FOUR: contact your network service provider about this matter
i hope this helps Cheers!
samsung galaxy s3 i9300 sim registers but only emergency calls
In my case (sgs3) the problem was caused by the fact that I also formatted the efs partition (something used by Samsung to store hardware identifiaction like IMEI, ...).
If efs is empty/gone/changed(?), the phone will be unable to make regular calls: only emergency calls will be available!
Peace!

why exactly did you resurrect a 4 months old thread?
Cos people run into the same problem all the time and that no permanent/clear solution is available. Any info is good, even if it's just to say that there is no solution yet

But this efs issue has been answered many, many times in the forum - usually people wrecking their £500 phone because they didn't read or understand what they were doing.
This forum is messy enough without needlessly bumping long dead threads that didn't have anything of use in. If people want really helpful information they should read the all-in-one sticky in the general forum.

Ok you're right, everyone should read sticky notes and try keep the forum tidy. Look, I don't want to go too off-track here but this problem is not just limited to Samsung handsets. I'm seeing similar reports about Sony's, which is what i've got. And there is no efs partition that can be saved on a sony because they don't come with one. I'm beginning to suspect that the problem might be with ICS/JB and this is why it's poping up on different phones/threads, with different roms etc.

why are you spamming this all over? this thread is 4 months old
I've tried to make this brief, but there's a lot to tell and this isn't a simple yes/no question.
After several hours of searching for answers with Google and here on XDA, I'm hoping I can find some help here. A friend's wife has a Verizon Galaxy Note II (SCH-i605) that was flashed to Boost Mobile a few months ago by some shady cellular store which no longer is in business. So taking the phone back to them isn't an option. They did a half-ass flash considering the device didn't have 3g or mms working. At some point within the last day or two a factory reset was done.
Here's where it gets weird. After the reset the phone no longer had service. No phone or (1x) data that it had up to that point. I was asked if I could figure out what was wrong. After a long time investigating the problem I finally discovered the reason the phone didn't have service any more was that the ESN didn't match the MEID! And no, it wasn't changed by my friend or his wife (they definitely have no idea how to do it). Nobody had done anything to the phone up to that point aside from the factory reset.
Some quick background info - when the phone was flashed it was done via MEID/ESN method. Let's not go into any detail on that. So after realizing that the current ESN (verizon) didn't match the current MEID (boost) I was puzzled. I'm not new to flashing, and have done a fewl flashes myself so I'm familiar with the whole procedure. What I don't understand is how/why this ESN change happened! I would have suspected someone tampering with the phone but it isn't possible.
Now, my friend lives on the east coast and I'm in California so I couldn't physically look at or do anything with the phone. So using TeamViewer I remotely connected to his computer and gave him instructions on what I needed him to physically do on the phone, and I operated the software. Connected to CDMA Workshop I looked everything over and the only problem I noticed was the mismatched ESN. Tried to change the it back with Workshop but it wouldn't stick. I didn't think it would, but tried anyway. I Tried again with DFS but it didnt work either. For reason unknown DFS didn't load the proper EQF for the phone, and instead used a generic Qualcomm EQF. Yellow light at the bottom instead of green. Long story short, I then noticed that the Boost Mobile NAM and data profile settings were gone as well. Strange, right? Especially since the MEID was showing the same Boost number that was there since the flash.
In my experience on Samsung devices, only the MEID needs to be written and the phone calculates and applies the ESN (or pESN). But this thing apparently has an IMEI which I'm not familiar with. Never owned a GSM phone. So I don't understand how the ESN could have changed/reverted itself, the NAM and data info reset, and so on. Can anyone with experience in this area give some input on what the problem would be and maybe even offer a solution? What is required to perform an MEID/ESN repair on this device? I want to do what I can to help him out because at this point his wife is very upset (to put it mildly), thinking it's his fault.

Has he tried just going into a Verizon store I know that might seem dumb as an answer but you just go in and tell them to do a complete factory restore/reset.. have them change back the info.....
Not sure but if i remember correct if you use ODIN (havent used ODIN on this phone yet) theres a box to check to do factory restore or factory reset which will put all old info back ... I will look into it and reply back .. since i got my note 2 i have used odin again but when i had a epic 4g flashed to boost i remember i had to make sure that box wasnt checked
But you see...They don't want the Verizon settings on the phone. The Note 2 WAS flashed to Boost Mobile (which they currently use), but it's currently non usable because the Verizon setting already ARE back on the phone. That's half of the problem here. The other part of the problem is how to get the device back onto Boost's network.
Update- just found out from DFS tech support that the demo version of this software isn't capable of writing meid or esn on this phone. An update costing $35 is required to have that ability. Is it possible with other software (free)?

That's strange because I flashed an i605 from a Gusto with a demo of DFS and everything went fine including the ESN/MEID.
I now want to flash it to Boost mobile because the reception of Verizon isn't that much better in my area and I'm grandfathered in to the 10c a mintues pay as you go.
Note II
If I factory reset my note II will it still be flashed to Boostmobile? Do I re-sell it as Sprint or Boostmobile?
Short version... I installed CM12 official. From that point forward I have been plagued with a persistent network issue. Obviously I know this is my go to group of peeps. So here I am.
As pictured below I have many more options in preferred network type then I probably should have. Also I have more APNs then I remember previously having. I'm not even sure the APNs are setup correctly. I just need to know how to revert to how it was before the CM12 install. I have sense changed the radio twice to attempt a fix and have also installed two other ROMs. One of which worked fine before the aforementioned issue. If I select from below LTE / WCDMA, I get data with no cellular service. If I select CDMA + LTE/EvDo I get cellular service with only 3G data. Please someone have an answer for this one.
Bump. I have done plenty of searching. What I did see was there are three files that I maybe missing. They are referred to in another very similar posting on how to unbrick a bad flash from N7100. That being said. Those files mentioned are not available. So I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this.
I have this exact same issue except at times I have no data whatsoever where I did before installing CM 12. Came from Alliance rom on my Note 2. Any help would be appreciated. It's very frustrating.

At the very moment I have most functionality back short of having to reselect my APN at each restart. I don't know specifically what got Mme to this point. Although I used a combination of NV Reader/Writer, Samsung Phone Info+, reinstalling a EFS directory using ODIN, IMEI changer, and a new sim. I also forced the cellular band to auto and set the PNT to LTE/CDMA. Although as I said Im not sure what helped most and even so its not all fixed 100%. Let me know if you want more details how I got to this point.

Really messed up before and ended up with almost(if not the) the same problem.
I contacted http://www.mobiletechvideos.com/samsung-galaxy-note-2/
And they got me back up and running within minutes.
Just something to check out if you still find youre having issues after you finish trying more.
Take care
I hope you don't mind. I read all your other posting to make sure you were not an advertiser. Awsome feedback BTW. I'm surely going to look into what they have to offer. Sense I have only managed to get so far on my own. I would like to find out they are a company who has the ability to bring it back to out of the box condition. Then I will take the proper steps to ensure I don't make this mistake twice.
I got one vs985 with imei problem,
imei shows only (0), and the baseband is fine,
Phone has 47A build and i don't have any Qcn backup for the phone,
But i got one qcn from another forum,
Tried to restore that backup via qpst but i got "ESN mismatch" error,
Now, is there anyway to repair the imei for this phone?,
There is something confusing me, on the back of the phone the model is VS985W!!
Thanks in advance

That's certainly odd. For the record, I do offer IMEI transfer services (I have the tools to do it), but only if the sticker on the back has not been tampered with to ensure it's the original IMEI.
You can PM me a photo of your back sticker if you want me to do it for you, but I only do this for customers in the USA and I generally charge $35.00 total. I pay the return shipping.
Sorry I can't offer a "do it yourself" solution, but I'm not aware of any.
Hi mirosaw2 . Please post question threads in the Q&A section. I'll ask a moderator to move this thread.
I assume it's a white phone, that's what the W means.
Ok, Never mind about the IMEI,
I got it repaired using QPST (RF NV Manager) method,
It's quite simple and now phone have it's IMEI,
The main problem was the network, Whatever SIM inserted in the phone,
It shows "SIM inserted is not from Verizon", I think it's locked phone!,
I know it can be unlocked by "Octopus-Box" which i don't have,
So, is there any way to unlock that phone ?,
Thanks in advance

If you root and install TWRP, make sure and make a TWRP backup of your EFS, which will include your IMEI, that way it'll restore even easier if you need it to. I keep an encrypted copy in multiple places of all of our devices just in case.
You might want to edit your screenshot and black out the IMEI. That's not the kind of thing you want just anyone to be able to have access to. There are all sorts of things that are possible if someone gets a hold of your IMEI.
Verizon phones are not SIM locked. Its complaining that its not on Verizon but it'll still work just as well with or without the complaint, assuming whatever network/carrier your using makes use of the radio bands that the VS985 has enabled by default. There are a limited set of radio bands that are disabled by default. From my understanding they can be enabled - there are threads in the General and maybe this Q&A section, you'll have to search for them.
If the carrier the SIM is for uses bands the phone doesn't support, then it just won't work with the phone no matter what you do, and if it only uses a few of the bands the phone supports, then you might be stuck with 3G or worse.
I don't know if you can get rid of the not Verizon SIM warning or not.

This is the wrong thread for this. Please make a new thread in the Question section regarding your issue. This thread has to do with IMEI problems. Thanks.
I'm not sure whether anyone still looks at these forums, but here goes.
Bought a used Zenfone 4 ZE554KL off Ebay, as I already had one and wanted to have another to tinker with. It was clearly labelled not working and not receiving network service. I thought I would have a look and see if I could do anything about that, and if not, I could still use it to try and (finally) learn how to root this thing without bricking my own!
I have managed the latter (i.e. unlocked the bootloader and then rooted the phone) thanks to some threads on here, but I still cannot sort the no service issue. But it is interesting as the phone shows a baseband, indicates that it has an IMEI (under setting), and it did connect the first time I put my own sim in it (after doing a factory reset through recovery), but then as soon as I turned the phone off and on again, it was no longer getting service, and I haven't managed to get it back since.
Dialling *#*#4636#*#* and looking under device information shows no IMEI, no network, signal strength 0, and the mobile radio power button is off and when turned on, goes back to off as soon as I go away from that screen.
A question I would like answered if anyone can, is whether this is a baseband issue, i.e. a hardware issue, or whether it is worth trying to resolve this in some other way. I have seen suggestions that rewriting the xqcn/qcn (?) file can/might help, but I have run up against problems trying to do this.
So, if anyone has any ideas, I'd be very grateful, but bear in mind, I am pretty new to all this.
