Issues. App Killer Running? - LG V30 Questions & Answers

Just got this phone and havent had an opportunity to really sit down with it and likely won't until February when work slows down. A couple of issues are really annoying me. First and foremost, the gmail app is not pushing. I have to manually sync in order for my email to refresh. Secondly, if I am casting and my screen is off, the cast will stop after a few minutes.
I am theorizing that there is some sort of app killer that is running in the background, but I have disabled all optimizations on any app/service that would cause these issues.
Was hoping someone had a quick fix by having run into this before. FWIW, this is the H932.
Thanks for reading. Thaks even more for any suggestions.

You killed battery optimization for those apps?

What app/category name would "casting" be under?

How many Gmail accounts do you have set up on on your phone? I have like 6, some are syncing and others are not (which I have not yet figured out). Just thinking your issue may be account based as well rather than for the entire app.

Home.

There is no app killer I could find, but power consumption is one of the factors that got apps quit responding.
I discovered my own Gmail account is not pushing as well, thought it was the problem of my account, but it pushes well in another device, ha. On some phones (not just V30) is just delaying...
Nexus 5: push ok
Nexus 5x: push delay
LG V30: push delay (sometimes)

Did you make sure to enable pushes/notifications in both Settings > Accounts > (your google account), and Gmail's own settings? I don't remember if they stay synchronized. You could also give Inbox a try, it's basically the Gmail app only...slightly different. Still made by Google.
An app killer would have to actually freeze the Gmail app to stop it from receiving mail, since GCM pushes are handled by Play Services; something like Greenify would accomplish this. Simply killing the app wouldn't be enough, it'd just be run again when another push came in.
If you've somehow managed to force aggressive doze, that too will limit how often GCM pushes are received and notified for, though it shouldn't completely eliminate them.

[Q] Twitter disabled yet "tpd" process still consumes battery?

Firstly I have a HTC one S, stock, not rooted.
I have disabled everything twitter related, however, in better battery stats, the process "tpd" is still showing and using a fair bit of my battery, does anyone know what is going on and how to truly disable twitter?

I have snowstorm and sense weather syncing every few hours and gmail push as usual, I haven't got anything else syncing.
Disabled most of sense apps apart from gallery, dialer/people, messaging, weather and a few other things.
I don't know for sure but I would guess you haven't disabled Twitter completely. There's got to be some app that's still running in the background. You need to root your phone and start uninstalling things.
Thanks for the reply
Everything that I can see related to twitter is disabled.
- twitter
- twitter for HTC sense
- TwitterAPIEngine
Is there anything else I should be looking for?
I have also disabled all the sense friends stream stuff.
Really don't want to root my phone just yet.
Try downloading Watchdog Lite from the Play Store. This app shows you which apps are using the most CPU cycles (and therefore consuming the most power). This could maybe allow you to identify which app this "tpd" process is associated with. (Having said that, BetterBatteryStats does usually show the app name as well as the process name, as you can see in the other entries in your screenshot, so if BBS couldn't identify it, Watchdog might not either. But the Lite version is of course free, so you may as well try it)
Ok thanks for the suggestion, will give that a shot and see
Just got a reply from someone else there regarding this and this is what he said:
It looks like tdp is just a system process betterbatterystats hasn't recognised, like surfaceflinger but added by HTC or just a new ICS process. (the PID is 0?)
If you look under Settings>Power>Battery use>Android System>included packages it can be one of those.
All the twitter related stuff will start off as something like com.htc.engine.twitter or com.twitter.Android in betterbatterystats. TDP is also a 3rd party twitter app last updated in 2010, that's probably where the twitter link came from?

And I just checked there and this is what comes under "android system":
As well as system UI being listed there.
I will email the developer of better battery stats to see what the "tpd" process is.

Wakelocks!!!!

So I've been trying to reduce the amount my phone wakes up. So far in gsam, the ones that consern me are android system and google services. Android system held my phone awake for 1.5 hrs and woke it 70 times. Google services was held awake for 22seconds but woke it 63 times. These are my 2 biggest wakelocks. I have sync turned off etc. How can I stop/ reduce the amount of wake locks?
Well android system is your phone Lol so that has to stay on or you have no ROM at all
And Google services is recommended to be on
If you need info on what the services do than go into the manage apps section than scroll the right so it says all at the top and click on the service and scroll down and it will tell you why that service is needed/ triggered by
Not all of the services will tell you exactly what there for but if your only worried about those 2 than your phone is fine
EDIT: if you scroll to the the running section in app manager and click on a service it gives you what you need to know
this is mine

i know there needed, but waking the phone that many times....?
Are you using latitude? Try disabling google location services to see if that cuts down on the number of wake ups.
Of course if you have sync off you'd think it would kill that too, just taking a guess.

"google messaging service" & "media" are constantly running. How would I end those? Do I even need messaging service? I can't find it on android tuner in the system app sections.
There's a thread on media server wakelocks and someone said it may be due to corrupted media files. Check it out:

FreedomPOP - Premium voice on all outgoing calls.

So I found a way to force premium voice to be used during all out going calls, regardless of whether the network speed is adequate or not. While I'm very satisfied with FreedomPOP's service, I do feel like if I'm paying for the 2G cell service for phone calls, I should be able to use it at all times, not only when their app deems it necessary. Because, lets face it, as most of you know the VOIP can be flaky at times. either causing delays in the conversation or just breaking up completely and dropping. I know many people beat this by simply turning off cell data and WiFi. While that solution works, it's a pain in the ass to do that every single time.
This is a very simple hack to make it use the Premium voice service at all times. You will need a permissions editor to complete this task.
I used Advanced Permission Manager.
What you will need to do is open the app in Advanced Permission Manager and select the Messaging App.
1. Open Advanced Permission Manager, click on all All Apps and select freedompops Messaging app.
2. Once it is opened you will see a list of all the permissions that app has on your phone.

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3. The permission you want to remove is reroute outgoing calls. Simply click on it to remove its access.
4. now select Save & Reinstall. it will compile the New APK without the reroute outgoing calls.
And that's it.
Few things you will need to know.
1. Since the app is not the original from Google Play you will no longer get notifications of when the App has been updated, I normally check it manually from week to week.
2. Every time there is an App update you will need to uninstall, Reinstall the original from Google Play, then follow the steps modifying the app permissions again.
3. Since this does require uninstalling and reinstalling the app, You will lose all text messaging history, each time there is an update.
You are the best!
Does this still work?

I need to undo reroute outgoing calls, and now "save and reinstall" is no longer a choice. Only "close" is a choice and of course it doesn't save anything. Please help.

I've tried clearing it's data, disabling dual messenger but still can't remove these clones.
My device is: Samsung A10s rumning android 10.
Thank you all.
Try clearing Android services, Google Play Services and dual messenger's data... and/or disable/turn off the latter.
Clear system cache.
Just a guess... play with it.

My bad. Android Systems.
This may be normal behavior, not sure... I never used this feature.
Try deleting the second dual messenger account.
Set up the primary as single account.
Might have to clear the 2nd account out of Goggle (on that phone) as well.
A package blocker will shut them straight down...

How can I suppress Whatsapp toast "user is online"?

Hi, I solved this in the past but recenly I had to install again whatsapp on the same phone, and I can't remember how to do that. Also, I can't find anything in internet.
I have an annoying popup (I think it's called toast notification) that shows me an user come online. This doesn't happen often, but it does, and it does also when I?m not in whatsapp. For my privacy I don't want the people looking at my screen notify my contacts, how can I remove it?
It is something like that:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Found it ? Normally you can adjust this completely in the settings of the app.
Settings on stock ROM's and custom ROM's can differ a lot.
And ... always look to the version of the WhatsApp app ... there are very ofter updates.
Installation is usually via Google Play, although not necessary.
Hi, thanks for answer, I?m using the same version I had before, after reinstalling I got them. As I wrote this problem was present in the past, but somehow I've found where to disable them/somebody somewhere suggested me or I've read it, I can't find more such information.
It can be inside Whatsapp settings, it can be on anroid permission fot this app, I can't find it! I've searched anywhere. I would love to never receive toast notifications in amy app, not interesting for me, these is a way to disable them at all?
It's a pity whatsapp wasting my phone battery comunicating always with the server telling me who is online, I don't get a f* about that, and also I hate somebody follow me if I'm online or not! Killing my privacy!
I have whatsapp plus and I've selected "tell others I'm always online" I hope it works

Your problem interested us here....there are not that many people who still use Whatsapp Plus.
There's a reason.
The Google playstore banned it from its repository. They could no longer guarantee the safety of the app. (No wonder that you could not install it from Play Store.)
I can't say whether your problem stems from this, but you might ask yourself what the
advantages of Plus are and whether they outweigh the disadvantages.
Why not just use the latest official Whatsapp ? This has already been improved a lot
and these improvements are being worked on daily.
Greetings and take care ....
thank you a lot for your support, I appreciate. As I wrote it was working good, then I had to put out my simcard to another phone and activate whatsapp there, when I've placed it back I needed to reinstall whatsapp and it misses now that setting. I was able to suppress it in the past, but I don't remember how. There shoulld be a way..
I need this to check the removed messages, and to filter my privacy only to the right persons. Whatsapp doesn't help about that, so I'll keep on this
