I want to root my 6months old redmi note 4, I've got the permission to unlock my phone, I got it 2 months back, now I'm trying to unlock it with the MI unlock tool(2.3.803.10), but the tool doesn't detect my device in fastboot mode, I tried it with another MI unlock tool(1.1.0315.1), which successfully detects my device and when I try to unlock it it stops at 50% asking me to update the software version, and when I try it on the updated version it doesn't detects my device. What's the problem here? I can see my device in fastboot mode in command prompt. Please help, I've tried so many times but unable to do it so far. I've installed all the drivers but it doesn't help.
Hi,
you are in a wrong section. Please post in correct one.
Anyway, as I remember you should be on developer rom to be able to unlock.
Go to official miui global web and check Developer rom installation instruction using Fastboot method. Then unlock.
This shouldn't be in dev subforum.
Btw try with different pc. I've got the same problem earlier. New mi unlock on my old laptop with win 7 32bit doesn't detect my phone, older one detected it but then stucked at 50%. Tried with my friends pc with win 10 64bit and works flawlessly. In my case i dont even need to be on dev rom, I've unlocked on global stable 9.0.5.0.

1. hold power and volume up to go to stock recovery. connect the phone to PC so that the driver gets installed automatically. then try unlovking again (from fastboot)
2. make sure you use a USB 2.0 port.

I did run into problems too. For me it was a driver issue on my Win7 64 bit PC.
As far as I recall, you need to check first, that the phone in fastboot is appearing in the device manager as "Android Bootlader Interface". I think there is also a check driver button in the MI unlock tool at top right corner. I hope that helps.

I had received the bootloader unlock permission for my kenzo on December 12th, but whenever I try to unlock, the notorious "Couldn't verify device" error appears. I've been repeatedly trying to unlock for the past few days, but in vain. I have only one Mi account, which received the unlock permission, and my device and laptop are logged into it. I have tried all of the following tips prescribed in various forums:
1. Tried signing in to i.mi.com and use find device service.
2. Disabled driver signature enforcement in my laptop.
3. Removed pattern/pin and fingerprint.
4. Bind Mi account for unlocking in developer options, but it shows some 86012 error.
5. Flashed MIUI 8 global developer rom 6.12.22 (currently using it).
6. Emailed Xiaomi India service, which advised me to take my phone to service centre!!
7. PM'ed some mods in MIUI forum about the issue.
8. Tried different versions of the MiUnlock app.
9. Tried doing it on different USB ports and different PC.
10. Patiently waited for many days. :crying:
I have all the necessary drivers installed in my laptop, and of course, I have enabled OEM unlocking and usb debugging in developer options.
So, after patiently waiting for 16 days after receiving unlock permission, I am ultimately about to give up on this. Is there anything else I can do to get my device unlocked?? (PLEASE DO NOT SUGGEST UNOFFICIAL METHOD).

Hi there,
as the thread title suggests, my phone is linked to a non-existing Mi account.
As my (100% correct) password didnt work, the Xiaomi support told me to try and delete the Mi account, which was linked to the phone. Bad idea!
And now, as the shop shipped out the device with an unofficially unlocked bootloader, my bootloader has been relocked and I can only flash ROMs via fastboot. But this seems not to work in terms of deleting the MI account from the phone. No matter what ROM I flashed, there still is the login screen with the prompt to enter the password for the non-existing account.
I have tried many guides on how to remove the Mi account from the phone, but no luck this far.
Can anyone please provide a solution?
Thanks in advance!

Oops, sorry, forgot about the two different models for a minute.
I'm on Snapdragon (kenzo) and the phone was ordered as new (but with some inofficial store ROM).
I tried a lot of different ROMs and yes, I could flash them in spite of the locked bootloader,
but no luck still with the account login screen...
After deleting MI account, flash any ROM stable/developer ROM without SIM card inserted in EDL mode and try again. That login to MI only comes in first boot if SIM card was inserted, without SIM card atleast I don't get that login screen. Then create MI ACCOUNT in mobile itself on Wi-Fi, not with SIM inserted. Hope this helps a bit

Well then you can flash any AOSP ROM via TWRP (I recommend ZCX TWRP recovery).Go for lineage os or slim7 both are quite good Roms.
For the non existent account issue login through a computer and then try forgot password and other things see if u can succeed.

Ok report back via private message i am keen to listen the outcome.
Okay, I have tried to flash TWRP over the locked bootloader by replacing the recovery.img in the developer ROM.
The MiFlash process was successful, but when I tried to enter recovery by pressing power and volume up, I always ended up with the picture of an USB-cable and a PC. So it seems like there was no recovery installed.
So, I couldn't flash any other ROMs unfortunately...
Anybody has any suggestions how to get lineage or any other ROM on my Note 3?

I had the same problem and took me 2 days to find a good solution and here it is... There is a software called RBSoft Mobile Tool (used v1.4 for RMN3). It's commercial but you can find it online if that's not a problem
adb shell
su
setprop sys.usb.config diag,adb
...and it will show you the port you have to use and just press Remove Mi account. It takes couple of seconds. Reboot, and whoila
Good luck
Edit: This has to be done in EDL mode but it's noted in application. Phone has to be rooted, too

I have managed to open the bootloader, but no success yet with flashing TWRP - MiFlash shows a success, but when I try to enter recovery by the button combination, the phone does simply nothing (sometimes it will boot normally when I release the keys).
Rebooting to recovery via ADB doesn't work for the fact, that the phone is only recognized in fastboot mode. This may either come from the fact, that I can't get into the phone in order to activate USB debugging or from my driver chaos, since I have installed every Xiaomi driver in existance, I guess
I'll try different versions of TWRP over the weekend and let you know how this works out...

Hey I think you are doing something wrong.
After following steps of unlocking bootloader, did you reboot in fastboot mode and then run following code in command prompt?
fastboot oem unlock-go
Try above code (this will be the final nail in the coffin for unlocking bootloader)
After this you follow below link to install recovery
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/zcx-twrp-install-twrp-flash-supersu-t3462448
I installed recovery by this thread, excellent one, no hassles

Hi,
In most cases you just need to wait a bit for the Xiaomi servers to sync up.
But, It could be your device is not being detected properly & in this case try installing the PDAnet drivers:
http://pdanet.co/bin/PdaNetA4197.exe
Install*PDAnet drivers on your PC, and follow the installation process. Even if your PC says you have ADB drivers installed, go ahead and install these. DO NOT SKIP USB INSTALL, otherwise drivers will be installed just for bluetooth, which is not*what you want. Select "other" when asked about the make of the phone.
Reboot your PC then try to unlock again.
Let me know if this works for you.

If u have got the unlock permission by sms but not able to bind then follow the instructions:
1) First goto mi bootloader by holding volume button and power button.
2) connect your phone to windows laptop
3) Goto device manager and under connected devices search for Android device... Then update the driver and now u can see it is updated to Xiaomi.
4) Use a older version of mi flash tool.
5) This will unlock your device
not working bro, on 86012 error
Where exactly are u stuck? U don't have to bind the account. Older version of mi flash tool doesn'trequire it
Is it really safe to use an old version of the unlocker for the note 4 though?

Yes I guess. The newer version is just made to be compatible with windows 10 and also account binding is compulsory. So if u want to still use new version of unlock tool then good luck as u might have to wait for days, months ,year's for it to sync and bind. Haha

When I got the permission to unlock the bootloader, I didn't have time to do so. Did it after 20 days or so, and got the "86012some Chinese letters)" error. Tried everything:
1. new Unlock tool and old unlock tool.
2. Sign out from Account and sign in again.
3. Turn off find device and then turn it on again.
4. Reset the phone.
5. Updated.
And pretty much everything I could find on youtube and forums.
And then tried the last thing.
Wait for 5-10 days.
I didn't even bothered binding the Account again for 10 days.
Then attempted just by turning on 'oem unlock', 'USB debugging', 'USB debugging security. Didn't even touched the bind Account thing.
Attempted the unlock and voila, it worked.
I've unlocked 3 phones in the same way, with the latest unlock tool, without binding, each one of them showed the same error. And tried all of the above steps 1 to 5 in two of the phones. Didn't bother doing the update for third phone. And the same steps worked for each one.
Don't know what it is? But its successful everytime. Will try on more and will tell.
I had facing the same issue too, i just wait for 7 days and did nothing since the first failed one.
And after 7 days, today i tried the same way and unlocked.

Just wait fr 5 days n try again yu will see d magic
guys,, i was facing same problem. I also agree that 8012... status does not matter to unlocking bootloader. I was tried all but fail after granted permission. Hello I have a redmi note 4x completely briked..the phone has the bootloader blocked, when I turn it on it restarts and never gets to load the system, I have already flash by testpoint many rom, Miui developer, Global Stable and still in the same, The phone in fastboot mode and Revory (the original of the phone) does not restart, and during the flash by testpoint it is also maintained and never disconnected, I say this because I have read some cases that this happens. At the beginning of the problem he always came to show the three points that he is loading MIUI but there is a reboot, this is not anymore the case, now it never comes, sometimes it stays on when I leave it for a long time restarting but stuck only on the logo MI .... someone knows how to solve this problem, I can not send it to any technical service or anything in my country that does not exist ... greetings
I'm no expert, but I would go online and unlock the bootloader. Then follow this: http://c.mi.com/thread-334-1-0.html There might be other ways, but this one will work, even if getting Xiaomi to unlock the bootloader takes time.
Unlock bootloader, it takes 3 days for Xiaomi to approve it. Install twrp recovery, wipe everything and install some aosp rom.

I can not do that the phone don't loader the OS..
Not sure but I think you should install adb and fastboot on pc and then Connect your phone then try "fastboot devices" and if it shows you some device, it means that your device is plugged in properly then try "fastboot oem unlocking" command this would unlock your bootloader, well the big problem is that all these commands are with respect to the Linux pc, there are something similar to do with windows and worse thing is that xiaomi have different method for unlocking the bootloader as shown in other post

Thanks for your answer, but for unlock the bootloader of a Xiaomi Phone you need first apply and ask permissions with a mi account , after that use a sofware name Mi Unlock with the account login on the phone and on the MI Unlock software. Is the only way in Xiaomi's Phone. The big problen here is I can't get into the Android System I can't put my account in the phone for unlock the bootloader.

Have you tried any fastboot rom to unbrick your device, I have read your post where you have mentioned about flashing some ROMs but have not seen fastboot rom
you may use wipedata option in recovery mode, if you done have already backed up your data or you can sacrifise the data on phone,it will load the original recovery rom, than upgrade rom.....
