Hi, has anyone any experience or advice with having the camera repaired on this phone? The picture quality is awful and has severe banding and rgb issues. I am unable to attach a picture to show you what I mean.
Anyone any idea of repair costs?

Hi.
I have a Galaxy S II and i noticed that the camera quality of my phone is very poor. Both pictures and videos are very grainy and have a poor definition. The grain are the main problem.
Indoors the quality is very bad, especially at night. I know that in low light none camera is fine, but comparing with other GSII cameras, mine is horrible.
I already tried to set ISO settings, downloaded another camera apps and none worked.
I have Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread.
So i have a few questions:
1) What could make this grain appear?
2)Would a full wipe solve this problem?
3) Or updating to ICS is the way to fix it? Any suggestions?
Thank you for your attention.
Same here. In very well lighted areas or daylight it looks like system camera but low lights or night its worse than disposable 0.3mp camera

Your phone's camera takes bad quality picture in low light indoor settings and at night? Sounds like a faulty device.

I will try to update my phone. Hope this works, Because if it doesn't, i will take it to technical support to see if they can change the camera hardware (i will have to pay for it cause the warranty time has already expired) =/

Beware.... I had excellent photo quality on my gs2 before submitting it to authorised Samsung service center for m/b replacement. Now after tthat, the camera is taking grainy sh***y pics n videos. I suspect they have replaced my good camera with some substandard camera hardware.
So think twice before submitting it to service center. You may end up with another problem on ur s2... :crying:

Possible If You Live in India...
And OP If Your Phone is in Warranty take it to Samsung Care if not do the following steps...
Open Back Panel
Remove Battery
Open Screws
Now DeAssemble the Back Body
Insert Battery Without Back Body
Turn in Your Device
Open Camera & Check if Quality is Better
If yes then You will need to Change the Back Body (it has unattachable camera cover)
Or
Just Look if There are Scratches on Your Camera..

I just bought the HTC One yesterday on T-Mobile. Does anyone notice a slight fisheye effect with the front facing camera (effects off)? I know that it is supposed to be wide-screened and it just might be that which is causing this. I just want to see if anyone else notices this or if I should go back to see if the FFC is faulty.
An "ultra wide angle" lens will have a bit of distortion and vignetting. It is to be expected. I have it as well.

Have you tried to turn-off HDR and beauty mode? It might causing problems. And quality of front camera isn't good as Back camera.... as they only have got 2MP. And low-light condition it has many noises...

Hope you are still reading this thread and posting. As I said in this post this camera is only 2mp... you know? It is not suitable to take a selfie or good pics..... (it is still better than other device as some device only has got 0.5mp or lower)
I heard that Sony has released new Xperia that has got better camera for taking selfie?
I just got my GPe and I'm very disappointed with it. It has a yellow tint screen and as I understand there isnt White balance setting on GPE. It also has a problem with the camera. When I'm taking picture, the on screen viewfinder shows a lot of noise. But when I review the pictures, the noise disappeared. Anyone has the same problem?
Post processing noise reduction reduces the noise. So it's a good thing

I understand that but during the process of taking picture. There are a lot of noise on the screen. I've never seen anything like this on any other phone.
Yes it's because we have a small lens. The actual image will be much better than that on the viewfinder. It's how Sony does things nowadays. Basically if you took a picture normally without any post processing, you would have gotten that image but since there is noise reduction, we get a better one. It's a small measure to tackle the fact that low light absolutely sucks on this camera
