Hey There!
I just have downloaded "Youtube Vanced" via an apk file (my device is not rooted) from this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71133073&postcount=3
And I was wandering if this apk file or this app has a virus due to all of the articles about loapi and other viruses that "hide" in apk files.
Does this app has a virus or not? And can I download apps (apk files) which are published in XDA without with no fear?
Thank you all!

It does not have a virus. You can download the original APK and the mod APK. Then decompile both and do a comparison to see what has changed.

Well, no matter where the APK is, it could have some malware in it. Even in google play store you might have downloaded an application that you have been using for years and then suddenly in some update the developer adds a malware into it. You would think people would complain if some app has a malware in it though, so let others test them first
Anyways, all I can say is that there is no virus. I've figured out the mods myself so you can hit me up with a PM if you have any questions about them
Sorry for the necro of this post but Vanceapp has a trojan in their manager apk.
I got infected and then scanned...

You can not download apk directly from market to a PC.
You can find sites like getjar.com or many other that post free apk files.
Another thing you can do is download to your Android phone, extract it or
I use Astros file manager and backup the apk.
I do this to get apps for my tablet that's not avaiable from market.
Something your brother can do is use Market enabler, it trick the system into thinking
he has a US carrier and most apps will show up
hello.
he is in a country that he can not connect to the market at all. So market enabler will not be any help.
if i download them to my phone, in what directory can i find the apk ???
and is there a way to download them to me phone but not install them on my phone ??? (just to pick the apk ?)
thank you for your help.
Get it from appbrain.

If you want to get the apk files of you installed apps, you'll have you back them up (there are many apps which do this). You can place the apk files anywhere on your sd card (or internal storage depending on device) where you can find them.
hello
i have tested with appmonster but it seem that it stores all the versions of the apps (even last versions before updates).
what app is best for thet and that stores only the latest version of each app ?
thank you

You could try this: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.agilesoftresource&feature=search_result.
Try Astro. It's simple, backs up only what you want, and seems to be a good option for what you need. I personally use Titanium Backup, but that's more advanced and has more features than you need. Astro would be the simplest way of doing what you need.

Depending on the app, look in System/app or also Data/app to find the apk's after being installed.
Use something like Astro to backup your Applications and then send the apks.

Hello, I've recently just made myself a little ebook app for the android and it is ready to be published to Google Play. However, I have a problem with the formatting. I only have a folder with all the contents of the app in it, some of the files in it include app.xml, pictures (jpg files), html files for different pages, and icons (png). Look at the screenshot below:
How do I upload these contents as an app to Google Play? Or do I have to convert all of them to a specific file? If so which application should I use? I tried Android SDK already, didn't work. Thanks all!
how to make an ebook app for android
You can upload only *.apk files at Google Play.
I mean compiled-ready apps.
That's the way you publish them...

Of couse I'm NOT the director. BTW, the correct name is "Jon M. Chu".
It's possible, based on your ISP.
And the app doesn't work on my S4.

Missing Files
Hi techies,
I downloaded both the files and moved
(root file manager) them to
system\lib (cut & paste). But when I searched for
them, they were missing. The only file remotely
related to the original is one called libjavacore.so
which is only 215 kb. The jbed.apk is 3.11 mb. So
my question is: Where the hell have both the files
disappeared? Another thing, is there any way (except
cut n paste) to directly download or move the files to
system\lib?
I am using samsung galaxy grand quattro I8552

Thanks for this but is there a conspiracy among XDA users to only upload to this crap of a website? I have nothing but problems with this one and seldom is the file there.
change permissions to make lib work
works great on galaxy mini 2 with stock 2.3.6 rom , i tried it on a chinease phone with 2.3.7 and it works great i just changed permissions of the xxx.so lib to rw.r.r like the other libs in the lib folder . i hope it works on thewhisp's cm10.1 rom i'm planing to upgrade . thank you for sharing
I Googled this and failed. I found some download sources but they were for other phones and did not work. I tried following some links to the samsung store and while I can find the apps, I can't find the freaking app store app download anywhere. I want the Polaris app for work. I'm sure this post qualifies as dumbest post of the day...sorry.
Edit: Never mind I downloaded a stock rom and extracted the Polaris apk.

Hi. I don't know if this will work, but you can try BlackMart (just google and download) or Market Helper (google it too), that "transform" your mobile in other device. Maybe it works. I've tried a time ago on my Galaxy Y and worked fine
