This is for x722 only
Hello, I've made this thread in order to clarify some users and to avoid possible bricks.
Obviously if you have your bootloader unlocked you don't need to unlock it again, you can check like that:
Code:
fastboot oem device-info
Results unlocked should be like that:
Code:
(bootloader) Device product name: [le_zl0_whole_netcom]
(bootloader) Device tampered: false
[B](bootloader) Device unlocked: true[/B]
(bootloader) Device critical unlocked: true
(bootloader) Charger screen enabled: false
(bootloader) Serial console enabled: false
(bootloader) Serial hw output enabled: false
(bootloader) Display panel:
If you have :
Code:
Device unlocked: false
It means your bootloader is locked ofc
Bootloader unlock
Downgrade to 01D Rom
In some EUI roms you don't have to downgrade to 01D rom, but if you don't know if your rom can be unlocked or if you wanna feel more confortable and to avoid problems, is better to downgrade
-firmware WIXCNFN5802005041S (see Settings > About Phone to confirm whether you're on this firmware or a different one... if you're on a different firmware on 20s, you don't need to downgrade)
-stock 26s (if your x722 came with 26s, you need to downgrade to 01D)
you can find the file here: Download
Basically:
Attetion!!! This update is to be used in the official recovery, TWRP will hard brick, don't flash it with TWRP
Put update.zip file inside your sdcard
Reboot to recovery
Click on install update, and 01D rom will be installed
Now you can reboot to fastboot mode and unlock your bootloader
In fastboot mode type
Code:
fastboot oem unlock-go
To make sure bootloader is unlocked you can check with:
Code:
fastboot oem device-info
Now, under "Stock 20S unlocked" folder you'll have a stock rom, cleaned, unlocked and friendly to root, you can intall in fastboot by opening flash.bat
Install TWRP
Please make sure you have bootloader unlocked
Download TWRP: Download
Put phone in fastboot mode, place twrp image inside your adb folder and type:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.2.1-0-zl0.img
That's it, you can boot directly to twrp by typing:
Code:
fastboot boot twrp-3.2.1-0-zl0.img

Root
Please make sure you have twrp installed and bootloader unlocked
Download magisk here: Magisk thread
Reboot to recovery(twrp)
Flash magisk
That's it
Things you shouldn't do
Don't flash official stock roms with twrp, it will brick your phone (hard brick)
Don't flash x720 roms on x722, it will brick too
Be careful about the modems you flash, it can mess up with your bands

1. You can unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP on 20s, provided that your ROM firmware isn't WIXCNFN5802005041S, which is the stock 20s ROM, I believe.
2. You cannot unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP on stock 26s. This will cause the bootloader to be permanently locked, and you'll only have access to fastboot mode. The only way to fix your phone would be to use Qualcomm's 9008 mode and a QFIL file for the x722... which doesn't exist.
3. Anyone who downgrades their ROM to the 01D ROM can unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP. It's just that if you're on a vendor 20s ROM, you can do so without having to flash 01D. Some users may flash 01D over their 20s vendor ROM to be safe, but this is not a necessity. The 01D ROM is really only for anyone on LeEco stock ROMs. Which very few of us are on, because third-party sellers almost always load their own ROMs on the x722.

Glad that someone finally made a thread about it! Maybe you should emphasize (like in bold text) that you absolutely should not attempt to flash TWRP on Geekbuying, Gearbest, Banggood, and other vendor ROMs, because a lot of people here don't seem to understand that you absolutely have to flash Batyan's developer ROM first... I sure didn't, lol.

Dear all,
Merry Xmas and Happy New Year
I am new to oneplus x.
I rooted using this method i. e. Without PC.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-x/general/guide-root-oneplus-x-twrp-pc-t3251027
Then I use flashify (app from appstore) to flash TWRP.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/one...recovery-twrp-2-8-7-0-touch-recovery-t3252840
Then i flash blu_a Kernel.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-x/orig-development/kernel-t3250995
How can i check if my bootloader is unlocked? For other phones, my understanding is that as long as u can flash twrp, bootloader is unlocked.
I think you can only check that with the adb tools on your computer.

At OP, when you flash TWRP via flasify, did you run into any problems??
Just curious really.

I have issues with drivers for my windows. Have Samsung s2, Asus Zenfone 2 all installed so i use the root without pc method. I suspect my bootloader is unlocked as i can flash twrp.
Any master has any idea?
Gosh... Seems like no one has the answer. Need to check via PC.
You have to go to setting / about phone / 7 times on build number to unlock dev options/
Then settings / dev options
5th line is OEM unlock.
How is yours?

I think this is to allow u to unlock, not unlocking the bootloader per se.
with adb/PC ? isn't it ?
check status of bootloader
first go to fastboot mode
first power off the device than Hold Volume Up while Power on the phone
than in adb type: fastboot oem device-info
there it should be flagged as true
My opx was unlocked, installed twrp, now.... Back to stock ROM and bootloader now is locked and i cannot unlocked,
What can i do?
Thx

Based on my understanding, once unlocked, its difficult to lock back. If its lock now, i doubt you are unlocked at 1st place. Pleaae correct me if i am wrong.
Yes. You are wrong.
I have twrp, so i unlocked, but now, i do not know how is locked, because i didnt, and when i try fastboot oem unlock.... No errors but nothing happend.
When i flashed twrp and try cm 13 i flashed, from twrp, the stock zip, 2.1.3.x
And now say that is locked, and.... Never unlocked
PD. never rooted, but when i flashed yesterday CM 12.1, when i restarted my opx to system from recovery do not ask for root from twrp ¿?, when i flashed stock zip, asked me to root from twrp when i restart to system ¿?

You must already have ADB and fastboot setup, check here if you haven't already as using adb/fastboot isn't within the scope of this thread.
How to Install ADB on Windows, macOS, and Linux
1. Download the file and extract the zip archive
2. Extract all the files to your fastboot folder. (Not needed if you have adb and fastboot added to the path, if you want to know how to do this, check this guide: How to Use ADB or Fastboot From Any Directory on your Windows/Linux PC)
3. Restart the device in fastboot/bootloader mode and connect to your PC.
4. Make sure the system detects the device in fastboot mode, to verify this your command window/terminal shows a serial number when you type:
Code:
fastboot devices
5. Use the following commands now or you can use the flash scripts provided as attachments to this post:
NOTE: SKIP the oem lock begin and the oem lock commands if you dont want to lock your bootloader
Linux users will need to change the extension to .sh and add sudo before each command or directly run it as a root user .
To simply flash, run the "OEM Flash" file; to lock the bootloader, run "OEM Lock" file.
Manual method:
Code:
fastboot oem lock begin
fastboot oem lock begin
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Verizon operates in US and you flashed that for Indian version. Why?There is no official ROM out yet.
Most importantly you did not backup the ROM.
My advice would be try clearing the cache, factory reset.
Moto by Lenovo doesn't provide regular updates.
It is better to wait until Lineage OS pays a visit.
Cheers

Hi, do you know if is possible to flash the retail firmware to single sim version? (Vodafone, unlocked)
Hello,
I've accidentally did the oem lock...
What can I do to reverse this?
Do I have to send the smartphone back to Motorola?
Says boot image not signed, it does flash the firmware however it does not have fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.7 in the zip folder so it doesn't actually flash it. However it does boot up and work like normal.
any word on this working on the canadian version?
it reads as XT1710-01 in fastboot
in the OS my current build number reads as NPSS26.118-19-11 ... i assume thats just a slightly newer version
and so, installing this would return the phone to pure stock - allow OTA and all that fun stuff?

Can't flash this on xt1710-09 reteu. Says boot.img is not signed. I SO DESPERATELY want to relock my bootloader.. but it doesn't seem to work Any ideas?
I can confirm XT1710-01 works for Freedom Mobile in Canada.
I was rooted and the Motorola got into a Recovery bootloop after a security update. Makes me miss the peace of mind of Cyanogen. Hopefully LinageOS will come here soon.

Help! First time trying to flash a ROM and it doesn't go well So far
I got my hand on a chinese Model of the phone. It says XT1710-11. From the first day I was fed up with their safecenter telling me everything on my phone was a virus. Then I realised I could not remove it because it was part of the "Firmware". Things got really bad when I could not use Pinterest or Twitter on the phone. I still dont know why.
So I remembered there was this thing called root that might be helpful. I started experimenting on it and I was finally able to root and installed magisk. But I still didnt know what to do so I decided it will be better to just flash a new ROM and found this trhread....
As I am writing this my phone doesnt have a OS, Back up was wiped at a point I even had to reflash TWRP and remount Data to be able to do anything with it.
I have an old iphone5 lying around that I will go back to in the mean time. But guys please help a poor lost soul. Is there a solution to my trouble?

Hi,
I just got this Redmi Note 3 because I wanted a device with good support for LineageOS (I'm tired of Samsung...)
I have the PRO version (with dual SIM) and MIUI Global 8.0 stable (so the codename is KENZO).
I'm following this guide https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/kenzo/install to get LineageOS up and running.
For my understanding (because I have the "global" MI rom), my bootloader is not locked (but how I can be sure?).
Following the LineageOS installation guide I have installed TWRP and flashed LineageOS + Open GApps ARM64 + LineageOS su addon.
The phone is booting with LineageOS, but I can see nothing apart the boot animation (waited 1 hour, but no luck).
I have tried installing only LineageOS without GApps or su, but with no luck.
I have tried 3 different snapshot of LineageOS with no luck.
Before flashing I clean system/data/cache/dalvik.
What I'm missing?
Thanks for any help or idea :fingers-crossed:
Take a look at this article to find out whether your bootloader is locked or unlocked. If it's locked, I would suggest you unlock it officially, then try installing the ROM from the beginning. Good luck.

if your bootloader is unlocked, you're good to go.
(you are getting bootloops because of outdated twrp/firmware)
1. flash official twrp or zcx twrp ( search in the forum)
2. download latest stable firmware+ rom+ gapps
3. if you are using miui, backup your internal storage to pc or otg drive.
4. go to twrp, wipe dalvik+data+system+internal storage
5. after that click "format data"
6. then install firmware+rom+gapps
7. reboot
note: as u format internal storage, u'll need a otg drive to flash rom+gapps. u can also use adb push commands. official unlock is mandatory. if you're not sure your device is unlocked officially or unofficially, u might have to flash miui fastboot rom, then get the permission

note: as u format internal storage, u'll need a otg drive to flash rom+gapps. u can also use adb push commands. official unlock is mandatory. if you're not sure your device is unlocked officially or unofficially, u might have to flash miui fastboot rom, then get the permission

Before I was not updating the firmware. But this time I have updated also the firmware (with no luck )
I've installed:
twrp-3.1.1-0-kenzo.img
miui_HMNote3ProGlobal_7.9.7_Firmware.zip
lineage-14.1-20170906-nightly-kenzo-signed.zip
open_gapps-arm64-7.1-nano-20170910.zip
addonsu-14.1-arm64-signed.zip
All the ZIP are stored on my SD card; I have also wiped dalvik+data+system+internal storage.
But I'm again stuck on boot animation (for more than 25 min).
meh...
Thank you, anyway

**I am not responsible for anything that may happen to your phone as a result of installing any roms and kernels or due to following this guide. You do so at your own risk and take the responsibility upon yourself**
This Guide is accurate and updated to help you unlock your bootloader and flash custom recovery like twrp.
But before you get started, please back up all your important data and make sure that your battery is charged at least 60% or else it may get your device bricked.
Requirements: All the drivers mentioned below, Windows PC, cable, Redmi Note 7 Pro and some general knowledge obviously
Step by Step: Official Unlock Process
1> Disable driver signature enforcement in Windows(Just in case)
If your computer doesn’t recognize Xiaomi drivers then please disable driver signature enforcement. How to do this please read here: http://en.miui.com/thread-237673-1-1.html
2> Install ADB and Fastboot tools with drivers on Windows
How to install adb and fastboot please read here: Click Here
How to install Mi drivers- Click Here (Optional, Just in case)
3> Enable "OEM unlocking" and "USB debugging" in your device
a. Enable Developer Options in: Settings/About Phone/MIUI version. Click on MIUI version seven times
b. Now go to: Settings/Additional Settings/Developer Options and check "OEM unlocking" and "USB debugging"
4> Connect your phone to PC via USB cable and wait for a minute or 2 to make sure your PC install Redmi specific drivers and after that open cmd by searching or press "Windows+X" and open PowerShell and type "adb devices" and then check your phone for any prompt and press "Yes" or "Allow" and also tick the check box that's says "Always allow for this computer" and after that it will display your phone's serial number in cmd. If it shows no devices found then that means you've missed a step. Follow all the steps properly and your device will appear there..
5> Check if your bootloader is locked
a> Type "adb reboot bootloader" and then your phone should enter fastboot with Mi bunny logo and in if it's doesn't then try this method- Turn off your phone, then enter the fastboot mode by holding together "Volume Down + Power" and then connect your device to your computer via USB cable (best would be the original cable)
b> Go to the folder where you have put the "ADB and Fastboot" and open a command window inside that folder. To do that hold together "Shift + Right Click" on any empty white space inside the folder and then select "Open PowerShell Window Here" or "Open Command Window Here"
c> Enter the terminal command in command line: "fastboot devices" and it should once again show your device..
If you don't see your device it means that the drivers weren't installed properly or the device wasn't connected properly. If this happens please reinstall your drivers again or try these drivers here(only install this if everything else fails):
http://xiaomiadvices.com/download-xiaomi-usb-drivers/
d> If you see your device then enter the terminal command in command line: "fastboot oem device-info"
If your bootloader is locked, you'll get the following status (or something similar):
…………………………………………………………………….
(bootloader) Device tampered: false
(bootloader) Device unlocked: false
(bootloader) Device critical unlocked: false
(bootloader) Charger screen enabled: false
(bootloader) Display panel:
OKAY [ 0.058s]
finished. total time: 0.063s
………………………………………………………………………
If your bootloader is unlocked, you'll get following status (or something similar):
…………………………………………………………………….
(bootloader) Device tampered: false
(bootloader) Device unlocked: true
(bootloader) Device critical unlocked: true
(bootloader) Charger screen enabled: false
(bootloader) Display panel:
OKAY [ 0.053s]
finished. total time: 0.055s
………………………………………………………………………
6> Unlock the Bootloader
a> Create a Mi Account: https://global.account.xiaomi.com/pass/register
b> Connect your Mi Account to your Device-
Go to: Settings/Additional Settings/Developer Options/Mi Unlock status and check "Add account and device" and add the Mi account that you just created
Unlocking the bootloader will erase all your data! So please back up your data before you unlock the bootloader!
c> You must enable "OEM unlocking" and "USB debugging"
d> You must connect your Mi Account with your device
e> Download Mi Unlock Tool here: http://en.miui.com/unlock/download_en.html
f> Install Mi unlock tool and launch it and after that it will ask for phone number that you used to create the Mi account. Type that and then get otp and type that as well and then it ask you to enter fastboot
g> Enter the fastboot mode by holding together "Volume Down + Power" and connect your device to your computer via USB cable (best would be the original cable)
h> Start the Unlock process
i> Follow the unlock tool instructions until the unlock procedure is finished or it may ask you to wait 72 hours or more. In that case wait till that period and then try unlocking again
j> Reboot your device
Is your bootloader actually unblocked?
To check this, go back to step 5.d and run the command or go to developer settings/Mi unlock status and you will see that your device is unlocked if you've followed this guide correctly..
Install the TWRP Recovery
Once you device is unlocked,
1> Boot your phone into Fastboot(you already know how to do that by now).
2> Then open a command prompt in the folder where twrp image file is located and connect your device to PC and run "fastboot devices"and it should show your device and then
3> Type "fastboot flash recovery twrp(type the actual name of twrp here). img"
4> Boot into recovery before rebooting and to do this, type- "fastboot boot twrp-3.2.1.0-violet.img" or "fastboot reboot recovery" or do it manually by holding "Volume up+Power"

There is no such thing as fastboot rom.. Any rom can be on installed via twrp or fastboot but fastboot process is difficult for newbies that's why people use twrp.. and did you really expect a rom this early?? Really? kindly wait and let everyone get a device first..

Generally xiaomi release both recovery and fastboot flashable rom simultaneously but fastboot rom pkg can be leaked from factory build .however recovery mode flashable Rom may be available thereafter ,also mi team aggressively builds and packs rom so both can be available at mi server but link not publically revealed .
You can rewrite a recovery flash updater script with fastboot partitions but absolutley cant use fastboot pkg as it is in recovery mode.

That's stock miui rom.. stock roms always are fastboot and recovery supported and i get that.. And by fastboot rom if you mean leaked miui builds and xiaomi.eu rom, then they are once again stock firmware based and not really custom rom.. I only created this thread for clear guide on unlocking bootloader, twrp and installing custom rom.. So what's the point of name calling.. jeez.. peace out buddy..
My only objective is to get twrp up and running as soon as i get the device.. And device haven't even sold yet, not even in china.. So i standby by my point for everyone to kindly wait for a while.. flashing leaked builds and stuff like this is what gets devices bricked especially since note 7 has anti rollback enabled.. If the leaked build is downgraded than that firmware, even by small version number, device is bricked.. So i want everyone to be careful.. but if anybody wants to do that, then sure go right ahead.. it's your choice

FYI
Stock roms from Xiaomi come in two formats
1. a stock rom package which you can flash from recovery (twrp) or through system updater (aka choose update package). These are full stock roms (not OTAs). These cannot be flashed via fastboot or MiFlash tool. These have the actual market name of the device in the file name and can be found here.
https://en.miui.com/download.html
2. fastboot roms, these are full roms which need to be flashed either via fastboot or using MiFlash tool. these cannot be flashed using a recovery or system updater. These have the codename of the device in the file name.
Hope this clears your misconception.

I get it just fine.. fastboot roms that you say are also called factory images.. i get it.. When i mentioned stock miui is recovery and fastboot supported, I meant stock rom supporting both recovery and fastboot version but I'm not interested in miui so i wrote in shortcut and didn't write in detail like u did mentioning individual version cause I've no interest in miui so why write so much about it in this thread.. when i said any rom can be flashed via twrp or fastboot, I meant custom rom not memeUI/miui.. i never said anything about supporting miui or fastboot roms that you say.. i never mentioned anything about it so no point in attacking me over it.. Peace.. No hard feelings if you like miui.. I like aosp so i plan to support that only in this thread.. No more OT discussion.. No hard feelings once again.. I'd to keep discussion aosp related..
I've got a noobish question - would flashing a global rom on chinese/indian version of RN7 somehow enable global bands?

There are ways to enable lte bands by modifying nv files but still you won't get any signals in that band, not unless xiaomi themselves include the blobs required to enable those band and the antenna must be capable of accepting it as well.. So, short answer no unless one manages to get the right blob and hardware support..

Can't root rui 2.0 (Android 11), and can't install custom recovery except "los recovery" but can't do any thing with it just wiping cache and data partition.
do not try to flash custom recovery on realme ui 2.0 , it will brick your device
I need to ask, this guide will work with A88/A89 update?
sorry for noob question - I'm not familiar with mediatek devices and rooting/flashing stuff. Currently I'm running crdroid. What steps are neccessary to get rooted stock? is it:
- flash original firmware (how? SPTool?)
- issue all the commands from OP?
Or do I need anything else?

Yes. Just flash the original firmware using SP Flash-Tools. However, youmust make sure it is the full 7-8 GB ROM, and not an OTA file. Also, ensure that you are flashing the correct ROM for your model. If your model is an RMX2155, you'll need to follow this guide steps 1-through-to-10 (inclusive):
[GUIDE] REALME 7 RMX2155 GLOBAL BOOTLOADER UNLOCK
WELCOME, ALL. After a very tiring process of swapping between ROMs and changing regions, APKs, et cetera, we have finally been able to perfect the method for unlocking the bootloader of the RMX2155! This is a detailed guide aimed to give you an...
forum.xda-developers.com
If it is any other model, just do what is said to work. Unfortunately, I don't know much about the other versions.
thanks the explanation.
I've found a 2155 ROM or at least a file that's said to be - ie. I've found a file 'RMX2155export_11_C.09_2021070809260000', extracted that, there was a huge file 'RMX2155export_11_C.09_2021070809260000.ofp' inside; using oppo-decrypt from github I've got bunch of files with names that seem to be SPFlashTool ROM.
Assuming it's a proper ROM: if I have already unlocked the bootloader, do I have to flash the rom and do the 10 steps from the tutorial or could I replace recovery.img and magisk-patched boot.img and flash rooted rom immediately? Sorry if it sound noobish, but I don't want to brick the phone.
I'm curious to try to go back to stock ROM for a while, because of call quality (I believe changing it to Vietnam needed for unlock made the call quality worse) and to check the camera and it's libraries - I'm running crdroid, photo quality is disappointing no matter what GCam/settings/tweaks I use and there are only imx682/imx471 libs on the phone there are samsung libs, but diagnose apps like aida show the main sensor is imx682, but the EU version of realme 7 is said to have different back camera sensor (GM1). Not sure if RMX2151 ROMs would include proper GM1 libs if that's true about sensor differences between RMX2151 and 2155.
