Youtube app - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

my device - galaxy s8
today the YouTube app on my device suddenly stop working like it was before,
the new "control panel" when the video is minimized (thats allow to stop/back, closing the video) is gone (back to the old way, showing the video on a little square) also the new app optimization to vertical video support is gone.
I'm on the last version of the app. i try clear cache/data of the app, uninstall app update....
On my old iPhone 5S the app work like it should, anyone know if there is a way to fix it?

Background Video Recording App?

I can't seem to find an app that records video in the background on my phone. I am running Task650 and Ktoonsez's AOKP build 6.8.12. I have tried Secret Video Record, Mobile Hidden Camera, Hidden Camera Spy Camera Free, and a couple others. These don't record video in the background correctly. The videos come out scrambled (with green lines usually). You can tell when the camera is being moved but you can't tell what is being recorded at all. Does anyone know how to fix the problem or of an app that works?
That ACLU secret recording app might work. Don't know if it saves video locally or on their servers though.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
I am having the same problem. The video won't even play for me. Everything else works, just the background process causes it to screw up.

That's because Android does not allow recording video without showing preview (SurfaceView) to the user. When you hide preview and Android detects it - preview surface will be destroyed. Furthermore then surface is not longer valid - MediaRecorder (which records video) will crash.
All those apps try to overcome this restriction in different ways.
I've also tried to do it and published app: Hidden Video Camera.
Google Play link: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lofatsoftware.hvc
Application website: http://lofatsoftware.com/hidden-video-camera/
I've tested on bunch of different devices and it worked like a charm. You can try it for free and check if it works on your device.

Is there anyway to resurrect an app that's stopped working?

There's an app that I use to use called Twitch for Player that suddenly stopped working a few months ago. The app isn't in the Google market anymore and the developer seems to have disappeared too.
Its a shame because I watch alot of Twitch streams on my Note 2 and this app was perfect because its the only one on the market that allowed you to watch the stream while having the chat displayed on the side so that you can read chat and watch the stream at the same time. This is unlike the official Twitch app that forces you to go to portrait mode to read chat and then tilt back to landscape for fullscreen.
Here's a link to the app and how it looked like:
http://www.androidhit.de/apps/details?id=com.aasstudio.twitchforplayer
The thing is sadly this app stopped working a few months ago in that when you go into a stream, the chat will continue to run as normal and you can see the conversation fine, but the problem is any stream that you go into, it always says 'channel offline' and give you nothing but a black screen. :crying:
So I'm wondering is there any way to 'reactivate' this app again so that the streams will display again or is there no way of doing this and the app is dead for good?
Bump can anyone help with this?

Skype video overlay not working?

I am having a problem where the Skype overlay disappears after 5 seconds if I go back to the home screen or switch to another app. I know it is not Skype's problem because I tried the same version on my older Galaxy Note Edge phone and it works perfectly especially when I am playing multiplayer games with my friends.
I have set the priority of the Skype app to the highest and allowed it to overwrite other apps in the EMUI settings so I don't know why this problem is occurring. Same goes for FB Messenger's video call overlay. Anyone knows the fix to this? It is super annoying.
Thanks!
Nobody else got this issue or my post got burried? This Skype and FB Messenger video overlay disappearing thing is a huge issue for me since I want to be multitasking when video chatting. I know it works because the video overlay gradually disappears as if the software detected it and removed it.
Another thing to note is that app multitasking also does not work with Skype and FB Messenger so I can't divide the screen in half while running them.

Oreo - strange problems with sound and videos

Hi, after upgrade to Oreo I have strange problems with sound and videos. Don't know for what reson the sound stops suddenly and the video works frame by frame. It does not matter if it's video from gallery or YT or music from spootify or built-in player. After reboot everything is ok but no one knows when it will happen again.
EDIT: ok I know when this start to happend. After using of @cstark27 google phone app ;/ Anyone can confirm that?
look for an apps that eats CPU or has memory leaks.
however you might put it... your installed apps are to blame
I can confirm that problem. It also happens with other gcam mods. I guess for now using the stock camera app seems to be the only solution :/
EDIT: It only seems to happen when using HDR or HDR+. During the HDR post processing (which is inidicated through that little loading animation in the gallery app) music suddenly stops playing.
EDIT 2: I think i found a solution. As odd as it may sound, but enabling camera.raisr in the developer settings stops the camera from breaking music and video playback.

Mhmm very strange. I did reinstall the app tough. Maybe the combination of reinstalling, enabling camera.raisr and clearing the apps cache afterwards fixed it
Unfortunetly still the same...Have no idea whay is wrong.
Does enabling the camera.use_photos option on both apps, and force closing/rebooting solve it?
So it seems that to fix the issue, one need to do this in that order :
• Clear Data from both apps
• Reboot (might not be needed but sound safer)
• Go back under Developper settings of both apps and uncheck camera.raisr and check camera.use_photos
Seems to be stable after this, even after subsequent phone reboots
Will add this to this forum sticky
Thanks cstark ! Will keep you posted if the reboots come back.

Disabling audio focus on android

Edit: Found an app that works, see comments.
Hey, is there any currently working way of disabling audiofocus for centan apps?
I want to listen to music on spotify and play video audio out of chrome or opera at the same time. I would prefer for the sporify audio to duck (reduce the volume) when opera is playing audio, but not stop compleately. If ducking isnt an option, playing with the same volume is fine too.
Ive tried the ADB command thing here on chrome, but it just made chrome not able to play any video. The video would play for .1 second and stop everytime.
Also ive tried samsung sound assistant, but a) there isnt an option to disable audio focus on apps anymore, b) my tab s2 (gts210velte/SM-T819) cant run the app anymore after installed lineage os 16.0 (android 9)
I dont care if its an app i have to buy, but i just need to be able to play multiple audio at the same time. If i cant mess with audiofocus is it possible to make spotify automatically play the music again after the other audio stops? Now i have to lower the drop-down notification bar and continue evrery time and its driving me crazy!
Also, the tablet is rooted via magisk.
Any help is appreciated
Bump
Anybody?
Nnm, if anybody has the same problem: found an app called app ops (root) that allows to disable audio focus.
First touhgt i had to disable it on opera browser, but when i did this opera wasnt able to play anything, then i disabled it from spotify and now its working as intended.
99% sure it works on chrome too.

Thanks! app ops offer exactly what i want and even more!
Wow, i forgot how i did this. Recently got a new phone, started googling and found this thread i forgot i made.
At first it wasnt working, but noticed that if you are using viper4android you have to change settings to "Legacy mode". Im guessing it will work fine if not using viper.
Im trying to achieved the same thing. Successfully gained access to disable audio focus but when i do that it just doesnt allow apple music to play anything. Any specifics i should do?
Hello,
Using App Ops, I disabled "audio focus" on the Spotify app, and was able to simultaneously play YouTube in browser (m.youtube.com via Kiwi).
Thanks for this discovery !
