Couldn't install on USB storage or SD card + Can't find smdl2tmp1.asec

Hey
I'm trying to install HexDefense on my phone and i get an error saying,"Couldn't install on USB storage or SD card."
I looked up the issue on google, and many people said there is this file,"smdl2tmp1."
I could not find it, I had hidden files shown, and all. Checked internal and external storage, could not find it either. Tried formatting my sd card, didn't work either .
Anyone knows??
Help please!
Note: The only thing that works so far is unmounting my SD card and installing the app from the market. But I install so many apps using APKs which I put on the SD card...and for example, if it's HexDefense apk, it would fail to install it.

[Q] External SD Help Please

I was wondering how i make apps automatically install to the external sd?
I once moved the "Android" folder from the internal sd to the external sd and it simply uninstalled them. I tried app2sd but that only allows the app to install to the internal sd and when i do move to internal sd the apps dont show up on my app list
i simply want to know how to make the "Android" folder defaultly be made in my external sd because that is where the big data saves e.g. 1gb of data that modern combat installs etc
and i want to know how to do it with it still being shown on the app list. last time i simply dragged the folder and my whole phone crashed, nothing worked and everything including twlauncher force closed to i had to factory reset.
Try search question been asked multiple times .
jje
I cant use buttons that drop down on my phone so i need links at the least
Well it's been 3 Weeks with no answers so I think I should just bump this up
All I ask is "Can I move sd data of apps from my internal sd to external sd with the moved apps still working and if yes how?"
Also is there a way of making sd data downloading/installing defaultly to my external sd
Thank You
Not exactly what you want but I use 'GL to SD' from the market. It allows you to move gameloft and other data from the internal memory to external. Not the app, just the data. Another one is 'Directory Bind'.

Thanx but I can't find this "directory bind"on the net, if that allows me to move data it would help alot.
It's in the 'themes & apps' section. Here is the link :

Personally I prefer gl to sd. You can select other folders to move, not just gameloft. It's a bit manual but works great. When I tried directory bind I lost settings on reboot but maybe there's a solution for that. Took me a bit to figure out but it turned out that I was entering the source/target folders the wrong way around.

Thanks alot for your help.. I'll try both of them out and see which one I prefer.

[Q] Prevent apps from installing to SD in ICS?

Some apps seem to install to internal memory by default, and some to sd card if one is present.
Even more annoyingly however, many of the apps that default to SD card if you move them to internal memory MOVE BACK TO THE SD CARD when you update them.
Is there any way to prevent apps from automatically installing to the SD card? Or at the very least, installing to SD card is fine... but to prevent them from moving BACK to the sd card when you update them?
I've seen this question in 3 different topics on XDA and none of them is answered. My question is similar to this; Apps are installed on internal memory but app data is on external. As a result i have a completely empty internal memory and a full sd card. Tried possible suggestions on other sites but didn't work. Why can't we choose where to install the app data? How to move the app data back, since app2sd wouldn't work on this situation.
FYI, buy a bigger memory card is NOT a solution, it's a workaround for the actual problem..

Looks like your problem can be solved with "link2sd" which gives a permanent option on where to install apps. Search it in Google Play.
In my case (i have three different memory blocks) you have to do a repartition and a custom rom but i don't want to go there so i just mapped the drives with editing vold.fstab and bought a bigger memory card

[Q] Rooted NT 8GB apps require sdcard

running on stock with root.
apps such as dolphin (can't download) or swift keyboard (does'nt finish startup) don't work properly when no sdcard is inserted.
they require mounting sdcard to work.
is there a way to "trick" so they refer to the internal memory?
the reason is that i change sdcards and it's a hassle.
thnx
think about it...
if the apps require an SD card to write files onto it,
even with a successful "trick" it would still not work because it CAN'T write to nothing
maybe, there is an app that would make the nook believe that the internal and external was the same thing..
tip: just install a Rom such as CM7 or the other ones that the devs have so gratefully created.

[Q] SD showing as internal, cant open apps

hi,
I installed paranoid android yesterday (3.97), all went smooth but when I tried to open the camera it said I dont have an external SD and closed. after checking it out (in settings->storage) it seems the OS labeled my card as internal. all the applications require external SD to work.... so im kind of stuck. I tried third party tools such as remountSD and DirectoryBind with no luck, I even tried creating symlinks to /storage/sdcard1 from /emmc, /storage/sdcard0/external_sd and every location I thought could be useful again with no luck.
I tried installing different versions of PA, and even some versions of cyanogen but they all show the SD card as internal....
is there a way to force apps to run from the internal SD? or to link the external dir to the internal one?
any thoughts?
thanks
