Hey, good looking! You got here, at last - so thats cool!
I know you are scrolling fast, wanting to get rooted, get CyanogenMod (LineageOS, lol) - or whatever! But please understand that you should read the disclaimers above before scrolling down. :good:
alpha version of the companion..... text and formatting is still work-in-progress.
Be sure to check out the Main Forum first, and all the stickies of the subforums.
THE COMPANION (alpha)
0. Devices
Just as shown in the image above, before taking any action, make sure you look at the back of your device:
Which Version you got? I got an A2017G.
Why we do this? Because there are other Versions of the Axon7, like the A2017U and the A2017. A2017 being the model for the Chinese Market, A2017U being the one for the US Market.
Cool, now that you know the exact model you got, we can go on.
1. Getting Started (All Versions)
- Make sure you are using the original cable that ships with the AXON, see in the picture above on how it looks like
- Get the 15 seconds ADB Installer and install it. This helps us with "flashing" things such as the bootloader.
A2017G --- ZTE AXON7 - "EUROPEAN VERSION"
We got the A2017G version so expect the best support in this thread. :highfive: WORK IN PROGRESS!
BEGINNERS START HERE: AXON 7 TOOLKIT
--- The AXON 7 TOOLKIT is a very good program for getting started with your device. For now, I just link it- in the future you can expect an indepth tutorial on how to actually use it!
ADVANCED USERS (A2017G only): Coming soon!
A2017U --- ZTE AXON7 - "US VERSION"
Coming soon!
A2017 --- ZTE AXON7 - "CHINESE VERSION"
Coming soon!

thats cool! I would love to contribute. Just PM me some clear instructions and the GFX is right on its way.
The important stuff is already stickied and nobody reads it.
We'll see how it turns out but posting two links (one for g only) as a guide is not very encouraging.

Thanks for your reply as this is still in-development, we are working hard on getting this guide done for every axon7 user, mentioning the basic stuff such as unlocking your bootloader -> getting rooted to flashing a custom recovery -> getting a custom ROM.
Basically we are also tired of the clutter in this (Axon7) forum - thats the point of the Companion.
If you are willing to contribute, feel free to do so with a PM.
little tease --- we also want to create a ROM list here

I'm one of the (few) guys who actually respond on the Q&A section.
I've written the same official update thing about 40 times already.
People who get their phone bricked have no way to fix it themselves, because a) they don't know each mode their phone can access and b) the only guides about unbricking are mostly for DFU bricks, not bricks.
New people come asking why oh why my ROM didn't flash and it gave error 7
'My phone is asking for a password after changing my ROM'
I could go on and on... If you want to know why we're doing this, go to the Q&A section and respond to all of the threads that people make in at least a week, and you'll see that they are mostly out of ignorance. They will still do that after this is done, of course, but we'll be able to send them the link and forget about it

Hi,
I've been reading all kind of posts about Rooting my HP Slate 7 tablet, it is the model 4600 version 1.05.10_user.
At first I tried using the Moborobo method, and I was able to root it for about a day or so, but it somehow broke something and the tablet could never be turned off (I needed to do the hard reset, where I press the power button + Volume Up + Volume Down or wait until the battery died). After that, I decided I do not want to use any Chinese drivers (Since I do not speak that language nor read it, it makes it even more difficult for me), so I abandoned the dream, now I've seen this new method brought to us by "kibaruk" which seems to work (I've been trying the steps on his thread: forum.xda-developers . com/showthread.php?t=2422353&page=7 and this other thread: forum.xda-developers . com/showthread.php?t=1886460 ) but there is problem with the steps when I'm trying to follow them, when I try to add the drivers in the device manager, here is what I encounter with:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And that is why I can't root my Tablet :crying:
I am writing this here because I can't open any thread or reply to the ones I read. I need 10 posts and I just received my activation e-mail (I'm not very good at forums, at least starting on any forum is very difficult for me) I really hope somebody can help me.
Is there a way to change the .ini file to an .inf file? or how can I tell windows that is ok to use the .ini file? hahaha
Thanks for any response

Hi, sorry, I already read that thread and it does not answer my question, I was following that guide and I encountered the problems I posted on the images... I don't really know how did the original poster changed from windows 7 to windows 98 hahaha (based on the screenshots he uploaded)
I also added the links to the threads I already read, but I can't post over there because I haven't posted 10 times

As you can see, I already run the "runme.bat" I also reviewed on CMD if there are any adb devices, but there are none since my computer is not recognizing my device for the android debug bridge (ADB). My problem is not that I can't find any tools to root it, my problem is that my computer does not recognize my device. I can't select the "adb_usb.ini" as the default driver just as the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2422353 specifies.
now I've seen this new method brought to us by "kibaruk" which seems to work (I've been trying the steps on his thread: forum.xda-developers . com/showthread.php?t=2422353&page=7 and this other thread: forum.xda-developers . com/showthread.php?t=1886460 )

Please note that I do not intend to be rude in any way, I am just seeking for help, so please don't be rude to me, I know it is hard to read everything I write, but I intend to be as clear as possible so I can get the best help from this forum, if you need any more information please feel free to ask for it and I'll provide, I need the help and I'll make it easy for you to understand my situation.
One more thing, my tablet is already on USB Debugging mode and connected to my PC (Windows 7, 64 bits)
Thanks in advance again, for the help.
I've never changed from windows 7 to windows 98, as stated in the thread those are for reference only... if you read it you would even realize the screenshots were from a nexus device.
On the 4th screen, the file is called android_winusb.inf. You are clearly doing something wrong and I do not know what it is. See attached screenshot.
Thanks

Hi Kibaruk,
Thanks for clarifying that, I was a little confused with the step 3 (Optional), I thought that was the driver's file, because in the other steps I didn't see anything about the file that we needed to select. But now I have my tablet rooted. Thank you very very much for this wonderful guide I have hit "Thanks" to you. If you want, you can use the screenshots I used in this thread to upgrade your guide, if you want to and use my case as an example, again, if you want to. I'm suggesting this since I noticed that there are some other people asking for something like me on your thread
Thanks again

Well that doesn't really bother me .....I'm about to hit the buy button just need to find out if the LTE version supports 3G Bands as well....as there is no LTE where I live. Seems from all I read that it only supports LTE so if it's confirmed I'd better get WiFi only....

Hello, I'm new here, I'd like to know if someone knows if the drawing pen that was compatible with the previous Mi pads is compatible with the Mi Pad 4. Because the main motivation for me to get one is to be able to draw, not perfectly like on a Wacom, when I'm on the go. Thank you for your answer
Hi everyone!
I intend to install it in a car and the hardware buttons will not be accessible, just the screen.
With that in mind, I wanted to ask if there's a way to make this tablet boot up when it gets power through the charging cord? Additionally, would there be a way to make it shut down, say, 5 minutes after charging is disengaged?
Or maybe there's a way to put it to sleep, or hibernate it?
For instance, would this work? play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=auto.boot
Or this? developwear.com/blog/2014/07/03/autobootstart-android-when-charger-is-connected/
I'm sorry I had to remove the http headers, the forum wouldn't let me post links any other way.

Would what?
Why doesn't this tablet have dual apps? Is it because mine isn't on the global ROM or is it missing from there too?
I also can't seem to install apk files anymore which is annoying since I can't flash gapps yet. Even with installation unknown sources allowed, I still can't install from file manager/chrome/Firefox, only way I can get apps is the mistore which if fairly useless. Is the app on mistore that downloads gapps on mistore still there, as I can't find it?
Hoping that once I get unlock permission I should be able to sort these issues out myself, but if anyone has some solutions in the meantime I'd appreciate it

So there's this in other thread - https://forum.xda-developers.com/motorola-one/development/motorola-one-firmware-android-pie-stock-t3863985?nocache=1
Is it worth trying? Any one tested it? If yes then i wouldn't mind some instructions - how to, because I've flashed stock before on my z play, but there are few new files in that zip, so detailed comands for CMD would surely help :laugh:

Hiya folks,
I've recently flashed the global ROM onto my originally-China variant Realme GT 5G RMX2202 device -- and I'm wondering if anyone has rooted this thing.
I did some searching and found references to a "Kingroot" APK that does so... but it looks a bit sketchy, so I was hoping anyone who has experience in this department could post what has worked for you
Thanks much!

Pardon delay; lost my home to a landslide. Le suck.
1) Thanks for the app tip, downloaded and checked, unfortunately it's still L3 security level.
2) After flashing the global ROM I didn't need to change the region; Google Assistant worked!
3) Yes that's the right thread!

Lemme ask you something else (or anyone that sees this comment), did you have issues with the Chinese rom where you sometimes missed calls? Like there's no record of the call ever happening as if you had no signal (no missed call in the log, whoever was calling went straight to voicemail, etc) I've been having that issue since day one but since I don't call much it doesn't really bother me, that being said I'm wondering if the international rom would fix that (or the Android 12 update). I've searched around but it does seem like I'm a isolated case
It looks like I made a brick, constant bootloop, enters the recovery but the bootloader is not unlocked, wipe data did not help, tell me, oh yes when connecting to the PC, it is defined only as the port Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008

Hello! Im new to XDA. I am needing a complete guide(s) so I can root my Asus z580ca table. I have been looking for weeks on various forums (including this one) and I have found some old guides that are very confusing. I am not new to rooting, jailbreaking or installing CFW on gaming units but trying to find a cohesive guide on this topic has been daunting. I have tried to root my Asus using KingRoot.apk but no luck. I get stuck on 1% when trying to root. My Asus is on Android 5.0. My goal is to root and update the Android firmware to a more recent version like Android 9 or 10. I appreciate any assistance I can get on this!!
To update Android it's not needed to get it rooted, but to find a
1. Custom Recovery suitable to your Asus device
2. Custom ROM suitable to device, what is to be flashed via Custom Recovery you found
Thanks for the reply! So how do I go about finding a custom recover suitable to my Asus device? How do I go about finding a custom ROM suitable for my Asus Device. Again I'm Looking for a guide on how to do this.

First, welcome here.
Second, I'm not sure why you have to bring all those statements "I'm not new to rooting, bla, bla" while to me, you're completely clueless, not even remotely can differentiate between rooting and updating your device. If you are really new to some area, take my advice, just don't try to show off. It's not a shame to confess that you don't know anything about it nor have any experience nor expertise in that area yet. Just be honest.
And now, for the answer to your question:
At this point I would just rather advice you to sell your device and move to another new one. Why? There's several reasons.
First reason is, unfortunately your device isn't popular enough to have a community to share knowledge or the works they've been working on. Why? Because a lot depends on that.
Before doing anything else, you'll need to unlock the bootloader of your device. If there's no official manual to do so from Asus, usually you'll be dependent on the community for help, unless you can find it the way yourself. Now, even if you have somewhat find a way to do it, there's second part.
The second part is: the device was released before so called "treble" mechanism implemented, thus giving you another hurdle. "Treble" allow you at least override just the system partition without messing with anything else. Newer devices that were released with Android 8 or above, cmiiw, naturally has it implemented. Why is this important? In case you can't any specific custom roms tailored for your device, "treble" accepts GSI which allows you to try another OS without other heavy duty stuff. Without treble support, literally you'll have to build a complete custom rom. I see Asus has provided the device kernel, so technically it's very possible to do so (although it might lack techpack, etc).
That's all covers about installing roms. Recovery isn't mandatory to install rom, unless your device lacks of fastboot (Samsung) or their fastboot borked (Oppo, Vivo).
Upgrading to another version is different topic. Rooting is also a very different topic.

This is the Team Win website and the official home of TWRP! Here you will find the list of officially supported devices and instructions for installing TWRP on those devices.
