I am noticing this phone doesn't have a lot of development and this phone is a really nice one. It's fast and it runs anything I throw at it. I want to start porting some ROMs and maybe compile a kernel for it and see what this baby can do more. Any ideas on what ROMs you want me to port and I will start from there? Thanks guys.
I've been working on a tree I've been authoring from scratch. Hopefully I'll have it finished soon so I can get the kernel updated and up to nougat and then to Oreo. I've had to learn everything on the fly and things keep getting in the way, but hopefully things will go much smoother for all of us once my tree is finished.

Lineage OS please
all the roms out are emui and i feel it makes this phone a lot slower than the specs would otherwise say it should be. would love love love to have Lineage OS on this phone as well.
I need a tester to try flashing Lineage OS after I'm done with it. It should be done by tomorrow.

I'll be willing to test it for sure.
OP -- Not that I'm not salivating at the thought of getting lineageos on this phone, but what are your credentials..? You've only made two posts on xda (both on this thread), so understand the hesitation to run anything you release. Who are you - how long have you been at it, have you released any roms elsewhere?
In any case, welcome to xda!

I used to create ROMS for HTC Evo Shift 4G. Also known as the shifty. It was called Ginger8. I don't have the older HTC so I stopped development.

Tried flashing it and it won't boot up. Will continue to look into this more. Might be possible to build Lineage OS for this device. I will try that tonight and post back with results.

I got you my dude, give me a few. I have a whole working Rom too if you need that as well.
I need just the system.img. I don't need a zip file. I want to build off stock as close as possible. I can't extract it from the zip I have now.

I don't know, posted it just in case
The creator said it was stable enough to use as a daily... I'm almost done creating a flashable zip based on it, but there's probably about a 90% chance of it not working... Is someone willing to test it?
I am warning that this is the first port I have done. I used CM11 11/10 Nightly as the base and the posted ROM as the Port, and followed the instructions
HTML:

with minor adjustments to allow ART to run. At the very least, I could post it and someone more experienced than me could look at it and tell me what they think?

When I get back to my room, I will try. Recovery shouldn't be hurt, but just in case, you should reflash it after installation. I am warning, this is my first time working on something like this and preferably, someone with more experience than me should take a look at it before the ROM is flashed.

Hold your horses. It'll happen when it happens. Let the devs do their thing (side note running an almost completely stable build of Lollipop on my brick of a tablet Asus TF300T).
In development for the Galaxy S4 too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/wip-cyanogenmod-12-t2936990
Can someone maybe explain to me the issue with the kernel? I mean, if other devices (from LG and other OEMs) can boot this ROM, why can't we?

Isn't there the full 003 ROM zip that you can even flash in TWRP shouldn't you could edit that zip? And if I'm correct there should be options to extract img files or you could make backups in TWRP and create flushable files out of them...

I think a stable base is lacking, from which developers can cook roms with. Thats why development is slow. I had opo from the first day, within a month we saw the creation of several custom roms. Opx is nearing the second month from release date.
Almost everyone can make a custom rom from a zipfile with a custom kernel added (blu kernel), build.prop tweaks, deodexed, optimal preinstalled settings and removal of unnecessary apps and files. But sd card and other stock problems will remain. So i think its holding people back to play with this rom.
Its a cyclical process, many people are waiting on developers because stock isnt stable. Developers are waiting for stock rom because custom wouldn't be stable (if there even are recognized developers who bought opx).

I'm coming from the Xperia L. It was released in spring 2013, and I got that device in August, but still had to wait till Dec till the dev scene took off. Still, once it took off the development was crazy. It was in fact one of the first phones to get CM12 (within a week, iirc) with very few bugs
Compared to that, development here feels amazingly fast. We already have an awesome custom kernel, and cm12.1 seems to be just about done. I'm sure things will get hectic soon around here too
It's nothing to do with a "stable base" or any other stuff like that. It's just a lack of time that the existing devs have. Had this device been out during the vacations or something, CM13 would've been daily driver stuff in less than a week.

Well I've just downloaded global rom for snapdragon 820,and next step is to make my development environment, so I'll try porting it to Lg G5 H850. No eta but I'll try to make it work fully,and when I'm done or have a functional rom,I'll post it.
Maybe buy an xiaomi phone, Note 2 coming soon 6gig of ram, it's tempting curved edges as well.

Didn't had much time yet, but so far Ubuntu running in virtualbox,dat files from both miui rom and stock G5 are extracted. Few steps I need to do and then just need to start porting. But won't really have a lot time for it until Monday,busy with work.
Made some progress,so far system files have been replaced, now I need to edit certain files, and then it's boot.img modifying. Boot.img I'm going to do tomorrow,since it's pretty late here. And after that it's testing time, flash and see what's not working,hehe and try to fix it.

Tried although i get a TWRP error when trying to flash, could you upload your MIUI creation so i can take a look and compare ?
Well its 2:10AM now so off to bed might try another method tomorrow
If you are getting a twrp error (doesn't want to flash) usually means zip you didn't make a flashable zip. If you don't know how to do it,use some of the Android kitchens to create it,it's easy and really doesn't take too much time. Currently my zip is way to big to upload due to fact that I'm using stock lg rom as base ( hoping to get stock camera in the end,harder but possible ).
Would love to see MIUI on the G5. There was people trying for ages to port it for the G4 but had no success at all so heres hoping
Does anyone know why is there no "official" G5 miui?
any news?

Features:
* Compiled with UberTC
* More coming soon...

Preview version -> Download
Instructions:
* Flash in TWRP
Notes:
* Im only test in MetroPCS variant

Worked flawlessly. Flashed with TWRP and rebooted and system loaded up fine. There was a few minor lags as it booted into the system past the MetroPCS logo but that was probably due to the changes made by the zip but after that the system was more fluid than it previously was even after having soo many apps installed. Great work. This is one step closer to completing a custom rom like CM13 or Lineage OS. Good luck with more development.

I know you didn't ask me but if it helps, I'm working on CM-14.1
All i need is to "set the variables manually" but so far no luck in my research and also no one helps me with my questions. I also posted a post on the thread of k7 questions and such but so far no luck.
The link below is a stock flashable zip of the LG V20 10k ROM. I extracted it from the latest KDZ file using kdztools and python 2.7 on Windows. I built the ROM from the extraction using Superrs kitchen version 3 on Linux. It took me over a month (working 10 or so hours a week) to get it right. I had a lot of help from Superr himself. A HUGE thanks goes out to him.
It is not rooted but you can flash magisk or SuperSU to root it. It does not flash recovery. It does not encrypt.
Using magisk it works with both Samsung and Android [email protected] which is the main reason I built it.
To Do's: none
Issues: none, unless they are LG's fault lol
Flash at your own risk. I'm not responsible if your device gets bricked.

Mega: https://mega.nz/#!GtJFwCAA!LJC_9sryvja9T1aSgeOnCrh6G5IyCrhSYfQCgnVXQ_U
Clean install instructions: twrp, nand backup, wipe, install, reboot
Dirty install, works fine over Weta ROM or NATF ROM, but not over aosp or lineage roms: twrp, nand backup, install, reboot.
Enjoy. Please give thanks if this ROM is helpful for you.

Is this good for a daily driver? Just wanted to be clear of the pros and cons of this ROM over stock.

Heck yes it is. I use it with no issues whatsoever. It IS stock it's just flashable. That means I can have both root and have stock
yes, see above

So happy you did this. Phone is brand new again. No hiccups or nothing. Running SuperSU and a few mods. Nothing heavy. Viper flashed nicely, also the mod for 3rd speaker and charging. All I need! Running stock kernel. It just runs better! Thanks again!

Thank you sir and that's good news.
Looks like a new update is getting rolled out as new speak. I'm working on getting a twrp zip for it and a new stock rom too when I can get ahold of the kdz file
