Headphones with microphone and buttons won't detect properly - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

I have Redmi Note 4 with Snapdragon and 4/64 Global Version with MIUI Global Stable 9.0.5.0 NCFMIEI.
When I connect headphones with microphone and buttons (Brainwavz Jive) there is an icon which represents headphones with microphone and it instantly dissappear and reappear as a standard headphone, then it flashes again and it stays as a standard headphones. So the mic and buttons are not working because it's detected as a headset without those
There is also a delay when I connect standard headphones, about 2 seconds between plugging them in and detection.
Is it MIUI related or hardware related? Any fixes?

Partially miui related, and partially related to the connection. Try twisting the headphone connection, until it's stable.

It doesn't do anything

I feel like, this version of miui has lots of sound related bugs in it, there is another user who reported music is not being played from sd card. My recommendation is to shift to developer version, because of two reasons :
1. You get to test new features before most of the people with global rom does.
2. You get much more quicker bug fixes which can take months to be added in the global version.
So this could be a rom bug.

Problem with bluetooth audio

First of all, hello!
Ok, so I've been having this problem with the phone since I received it: When I want to transfer the audio of the phone to an LG Home Cinema via Bluetooth, the audio doesn't sound properly (sometimes nothing comes out of the speakers and sometimes half of a second of the song plays but very distorted, but in the phone it is displayed that the song is playing). I tried to pair the audio of the phone with a mini speaker that also supports Bluetooth and the Redmi Note 2 works just fine with it.
I've changed the rom several times since I bought the phone (MIUI always, I'm currently on 7.1.0 Stable) but the issue is still there.
My previous phone, a Mi3, worked well with the Home Cinema and also every other phone that I link to the speakers also work well so it's definitely a problem with the Redmi Note 2 and this LG Home Cinema in particular.
Any suggestions or thoughts on this?
Thank you!
I am having the same issue with bluetooth headphones...audio stuttering is horrible + some peak distortion...I`ve tried anything (change build.prop, disable wifi, disable bluetooth log) but no change.
The headphones are not defective as they work properly with PC or other device with android 4.2.2.
Same here. Annoying stuttering in bluetooth headset.
I'm using weekly dev builds from xiaomi.eu
No problems here with the global developer version. Works like a charm with Bose Soundlink Mini and Creative T12 Wireless.
Bluetooth stuttering....

Does work fine with miui though... BUT.
For me so far, bluetooth audio stutters very rarely, but it does stutter now and then. No distortion, however.
Currently on xiaomi.eu v6.2.25 about to move on to v6.3.24 beta

Problem with audio jack switch

Hi everyone,
I'm a user of the Redmi Note 3 Pro (Snapdragon variant) and I'm facing a strange issue with the audio jack.
If I connect a headphone rapidly, the phone recognizes it and everything goes perfectly. But, if I connect it slowly, like in 2 steps (first I insert half the connector, and then I push it all the way in), it is recognized (and the headset icon appears) only when it is halfway in, and after pushing it, the icon in the statusbar disappears. The music plays perfectly from the headphones, but programs like Viper4Android misbehave, and leave the output set to Phone Speaker.
I'm not sure if this is a hardware or software problem, because now I'm on CM13, and the same happened even on MIUI, but the music plays from the headphones anyway in both the cases.
Tell me if it happens also for some of you.
Thanks
Hardware issue. Go to service center

It's software issue.in viper click menu button and use lock effects and choose headset and you should be good until cm fixes it

Happens to me too, so it's definitely not an isolated issue.
It happens to me too. I push the headphone in rapidly and its not recognized. If I push it in halfway its recognized as headphones but sound is quiet. If I push it in fully it gets loud but the media pauses and it isn't recognized as headphones anymore.

[Kate Special Edition] Problem with headphones.

Hi guys, i have a problem with my Redmi note 3 pro Special Edition Kate. When i insert the jack in the hole of my phone, many times the phone reveals the headphone only for few seconds, next the icon in the status bar disappear and the audio comes out the speaker. I have this problem only with headphones without microphone. The problem does not occur if i use headphones with microphone incorporate.
I want change the earpiece jack , but i can't find the replacement for Kate version, does anyone know if it is compatible the earpiece of Kenzo? Thanks.
Hey, my kate‘s got the same problem. I don't think it's a hardware issue. Check out the app SoundAbout. You can force the phone to put out the sound over the 3,5 Jack by setting Media audio to wired headphone. Hope that saves you eine trouble.

Wow you're right, thanks! I just tried your suggestion. So it is a software bug?

Headphone icon bug on latest global stable rom 8.5.8.0

So I'm using Redmi Note 4 snapdragon for about 4 months and i never encountered any problem till now... I don't know if it's because of update or what but my mobile is showing headphone connected symbol in status bar... If a call comes i can't hear through earpiece i have to plug in headphones or switch to speaker mode. Moreover i can't play songs on speaker as it is in headphone mode... I searched on net for hours and tried to clean with earbud... Formatted the phone/reset... I tried to change mi sound enhancer settings plugging in headphones in and out... Rebooted several times... Nothing works... So wanted to ask what to do? Will switching to custom rom solve my problem? Is it because of update or hardware fault? Any help would be much appreciated :')
Well, you're not alone.
The solution is to plug in your headphone/earphone again n' again and unplug it until the icon/sign gets disappear.

Redmi Note 9S Bluetooth volume bug

I've just got the Redmi Note 9S (global version) and the phone looks and behave very good. I didn't faced wifi or display issues. But when I connected the phone to my Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones, i noticed that the volume is very low, I even needed to turn up the volume to the max on the headphones to get a comfortable volume.
I reported the issue to Xiaomi on MIUI forums and they ask me to send a logcat, so if this is really a bug, I hope they fix it on next update.
Someone here has suffered the same issue? It really bothers me, because I use the phone mainly to listen to music.
On my former phone (Mi A1) I didn't even have to touch the headphones volume control, only having the phone volume control to the middle I got a comfortable volume. Same with my laptop.
Other issue

I use the same headphones. but I don't have the issue.
I do have another issue: when playing a youtube video (in background, I'm using "noadsbackgrounplaybackyt") after a random amount of time (e.g. 45 minutes) the music suddenly gets very loud. I have to disable bluetooth and connect again for normal sound.
When I use other bluetooth earpieces (mpow 5) the sound is very very loud and the only way to listen to it is to turn the volume down to the last option. Furthermore "James DSP" is not working.
I'm on the latest MIUI global (11.0.7.0) on a note 9s
Finaly I can't get Viper4android to work (probably because of the audio-editor.conf bug). For some reason I don't have write access to vendor/etc. although Magisk is allowed to edit. It's not that much of an issue because "James DSP" is working, but I've always liked Viper4a a bit more.
Duplicated post. Please delete.

I think the Note 9S have the volume control messed up, I did more testing with my BT headphones, with an USB DAC and with headphones connected through 3.5 mm jack and I've got somewhat inconsistent volumes, the best result was through USB. Also I noticed that the volume steps are bad calibrated, you turn the volume up one step but the loudness increases half ( is difficult to explain here xD). You noticed this?
Hope these are software related issues and Xiaomi can solve it with a software update, and non hardware-related issues, due to the early life of the phone.
I am also having the same issue. Connected my AirPods and have to have the volume full blast to even hear it well. Have you figured out a solution for the problem?

No, I don't. I ended selling my phone, many bugs without solution.
Go into developer options and there's a setting for absolute volume
In my case - Go into developer options and disable a setting for absolute volume. And then Sound effects->Headphone remote buttons-control volume level. Normal volume in headphones now.
