Mate 10 (standard - not pro or lite) availability? - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

Hello,
I'm in France where Huawei has decide to release only the pro (and lite) version of the Mate 10.
Coming from Mate 9 (which I love), I want to upgrade to Mate 10 standard (notably for its upgraded camera) but not to the Mate 10 Pro, because I hate the screen ratio of the Pro (tested on a friend's phone) and the absence of audio jack.
Anyone understand Huawei commercial restriction over the standard version of Mate 10?
Is the standard Mate 10 available in other European countries (such as the UK)?
Do you know how I could purchase one (L29 version), while still being entitled warranty?
I'm so upset with this marketing strategy.... Do you think Huawei will come to it sense and will eventually release the standard Mate 10 more widely?
It's probably a lost battle, but is there a petition going on on this request?
I wrote to Huawei support about the availability of standard Mate 10 in France but they didn't care answering me... Is there any influential website where Huawei may listen to its customers?

I'm in Australia where both the Mate 10 and the Mate 10 Pro are available, but I still opted to buy mine directly from China because their market is the only one which has the higher-end Mate 10 (non-Pro) with 6Gb RAM and 128Gb storage (i.e., the ALP-AL00). All of the suppliers I've seen on AliExpress perform re-branding to ALP-L29 prior to shipping, and the OTA firmware upgrade I received today confirms that Huawei's servers are treating my 'phone as a genuine unit.
Of course, purchasing from China won't give you local warranty - so if anything goes wrong during the warranty period, you'll have to send it back to China for repair/replacement - but the cost saving was big enough for me to justify the potential gamble. I paid a little over AUD$960 (about 627 Euros) for mine including DHL delivery from this seller and I was so happy that I ordered another one for my son.

I purchased the same model from ebay, working good on at&t. Great phone for the price.

As far as I know, the Mate 10 has the most complete radio available on any 'phone - that is, it covers more bands than any other 'phone that's available today (or possibly ever).
One comment I'd make is to go for the ALP-AL00 and make sure the seller can install the ALP-L29 (international) firmware onto it before sending it to you. I know all of the sellers on AliExpress will do this as a matter of course, but I refuse to deal with Amazon so can't comment on their suppliers. The ALP-AL00 gives you the 6Gb of RAM and 128Gb of internal storage that the Mate 10 Pro has, but also gives you all the benefits of the "standard" Mate 10 (i.e., headphone socket, QHD 16:9 LCD display [no worries about OLED burn-in], front-mounted fingerprint scanner and support for additional storage [up to 256Gb MicroSD]).

How good is Mate 10 version ALP-AL00C with software update compared to ALP-L29

Currently I'm looking to buy a Mate 10 but there are 2 different versions to choose from, one is ALP-L29 4gb/64gb and the other is ALP-AL00C 6gb/128gb, both having similar price with the ALP-AL00C only slightly more expensive (20 usd or so).
So my question is, is it worth it to buy the ALP-AL00C version, how good is it with software updates? Since I see most of people here trying really hard to avoid Chinese version and rebrand to L29 anyway?

8GB+256GB version?

Hi folks,
Does anyone know what about the Mate 20 Pro 8GB+256GB version?
I can see it in the official Huawei website in the Mate 20 Pro Spec sheet, but I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else.
Pre-orders are for the 6GB+128GB version only.
I have a strong suspicion it will only come out later in early 2019 like they did with the P20 pro 256GB
Am I missing something?
Did I just look in the wrong place?
I see the mate 20 x has an 8gb variant

thanks for the replay
I don't see it in Huawei.com nor in gsmarena
I wonder if it will only see the light of day in China?
I honestly believe that the 8gb version won't be much faster than my 6gb model.
I still have my 8gb 512gb note 9 and it's just as fast in multi tasking and keeping apps open.
I'm also gonna stay with the mate 20 Pro and selling my note 9. The mate 20 is simply much better.
Mate 20 Pro 8GB 256GB will arrive later, no question asked, most likely as dual sim which is LYA-L29 model. I spoke to Huawei on Thursday and they did confirm that 8GB version is listed but no further information on release date was available. Representative took my details and said they would contact me to confirm asa.
I am tempted to use my upgrade now and go for pre-order model 6GB 128GB and get free watch and wireless charger, but on the other hand rather than getting watch I would love to have 8GB version which may be faster in multitasking.
What would you advise? Is it worth to wait for 8GB ram version? Will it be available in UK on a contract? Shall I stick with 6GB and enjoy free watch?
I've pre-ordered the 8GB + 256GB version from Vodafone in Germany.
The delivery date is specified as "around October 26".
So it must be available already. At least in Germany.
That's as much as I can say.

An update for all.
Ive got my device yesterday.
Turns out, it is just the 6GB+ 256GB version.
I found it out while going through all the settings.
I didn't contact Vodafone regarding that yet but I definitely will.
thanks for the update mate !
until now I only saw it on sale in china
I personally bit the bullet and pre-ordered the 6GB+128GB
the pre-order sale was too good to pass, hope it will be enough.. :fingers-crossed:
I am going to wait until December to buy. I am in China and need to know the Chinese version can take Gapps.

how to recognize from the packaging of the mate 20 pro if it is branded or not?

how to recognize from the packaging of the mate 20 pro (dual sim) if it is branded or not?
I've just bought huawei mate 20 pro, the seller claims it could be branded. invited him to do a check on the package of the mate 20 pro, reports that not being able to say it before, we must open it to see if it is branded. I sent an email huawei still no response. Many vendors claim to sell the non-branded mate 20 pro, so it is very strange to know it is not possible to know it from the serial or imei of the pack of the mate.
Also if I open the package I have to activate it to see if it is branded, this could be a problem to send it back to the seller.
It is possible to defer the mate 20 pro not without unlock bootloader and without root.
I need some useful information to understand if I can recognize from the package if it is branded or not brand? or or it's an easy operation to make no brand
the mate 20 pro with firmware flash?
last sent back the parcel to the seller is purchase by another more serious seller. thanks you all

Xiaomi won’t bring Redmi Note 7 Pro to rest of world

Confirmed: Xiaomi won’t bring Redmi Note 7 Pro to rest of world
https://www.androidauthority.com/xiaomi-redmi-note-7-pro-availability-968713/
Very disappointing. At least they gave us a 128 GB Note 7. I'm left wondering if I should grab one of those or import from China and suffer without LTE.
Looks like I'm getting the Mi 9 SE instead -_-
very disappointing Xiaomi, shame on you.
I dont know how can they come up with that sale strategy. This is the first phone they sub brand as redmi devices out of mi devices which possibly means they dont have enough money to make it on international market. So they sale it on india and china for now to gain money for the next redmi generation.
I don't give a crap about global version
I have R5+ chinese version and it works perfect with LTE, because in my country we don't use band 20 on the carrier i use
Well...
It's unfortunate, but still you could buy one directly from China or perhaps from other resellers.
This not true. I assume.
