LG V30+ unlocks by itself - LG V30 Questions & Answers

I have enabled all types of unlocking ( face, voice and fingerprints ) . Some times the screen gets unlocked on its own. ( When i was not holding it and i when was not looking at it.). Happened quite a few times.
This is a scary and a very serious issue.
Can someone give some pointers on how to debug this issue?

Voice. Were you talking?
Do you have "safe zones" where it's unlocked -- like at home, or connected to certain Wi-Fi networks or when you have certain Bluetooth devices connected? You may have enabled some of that in settings and forgotten.

Thanks @ChazzMatt. Nope I was silent.
Bluetooth and NFC off.
Btw i see that there is a feature called smart unlock. I dont know whether its turned on by default. I went there and see that they have this unlock for ok google voice. But i wasn't speaking. Anyways, i have turned it off now. There is one more thing called trusted places. When clicked on it, it shows my current location (home). But there is no way to check whether its enabled or not. Cant delete it either. I think this could well have unlocked it. not sure.

Yes, smart unlock and trusted spaces are the settings I was referring to.
There has to be a way to turn off trusted spaces.
Here you go:
Long click on Home. See the pop up at bottom of screenshot?

Yah.. Got it . Thanks for the tip on turning it off.
I still wonder why it happens randomly. Also not sure about usefulness of this feature.
Anyways i hope this is the one that unlocked it. I will see if this happens again.

Also check to see if you have lock display IMMEDIATELY when screen turns off. You should.
See the bottom two settings.

Update: It happened again this morning. ( I had disabled all smart unlock). Now this is scary. Only one remote possibility is face unlock. ( I had kept the phone on a table while ironing the cloth. I would have looked at from a wide angle. The possibility of this is only 1%) I am surprised nobody else has come across this issue. @ChazzMatt Thanks. I checked lock screen settings. Its the same as yours.
I am going to turn off face unlock authentication to rule out some bug in the face recognition.

Update: Tried with face unlock disabled. ( that was a remote possibility). To my surprise it again got unlocked randomly. ( quite a few times)
Phone was kept on the table and i was working on a laptop.
So it really is an issue. Its frustrating. Can someone tell me which component/software the bug belongs to?. Should i take the phone to lg service center? I hate taking new phone to a service center. Any other tips?

Finally figured it out.
I removed voice recognition screen unlock. Then the issue didn't happen. I then bring back face face recognition. Again no issue. ( Its more than 48 hours now) . So its the voice recognition which was the culprit. Must be a bug?. Because i had set my daughter's voice and she was not even in the room. Even i was not talking. No music playing.
Not many people use the voice unlock. I think thats why we dont see this issue reported. ( Even i set voice unlock just to test it)
Thanks @ChazzMatt for all the help.

Me too...

I noticed this happening today as well. Same situation. I was sitting still, quiet, and phone randomly unlocked.
Going to disable voice unlock.

HTC S740 freezes when GPS activated

Each time that a program activates the GPS in my S740 everything seems fine, but after 1 or 2 minutes the phone freezes and I have to switch everything off.
It does it with every program I tried, namely google maps, quickgps, nonigpsplot, sportypal (can't try whereis because I am missing some .net updates).
I tried to deabilitate just about every option I could think of (power saving, other running programs etc) but I can't get rid of the problem.
Does anybody have any idea of what it could be?
Thanks a lot,
Luca
PS: the phone came with Swisscom installation
I have the same problem.
The first time it happened, I had to to a hard reset (even without activating the GPS it would crash after a couple of minutes).
The second time (last week) it was exactly like you describe. Everything is fine until you run a GPS program, which causes the phone to freeze after a couple of minutes.
Unfortunately, I have no solution (yet). I reverted to a BT GPS to avoid the internal unit. Yesterday I managed to use Route66 for about half an hour on the internal unit. I still have to check if it was magiacally fixed, or whether this was a lucky shot.
One question for you: On both occasions, I used the GPSed-application (www.gpsed.com) extensively before the crash. Do you have that program installed by any chance? This might give a clue.

No, I don't have that application.
The phone is less than a week old and came with googlemaps and quickgps.
The only other programs I installed are nonigpsplot, sportypal and whereis (which doesn't work, I think I should update the .net).
I installed them after realizing that the gps didn't work because I thought it could be software error.
So far HTC has recommended an hard reset or to replace the phone as dead on arrival. They say that it is not a known issue.
Just to be precise, the gps gets a fix and everything is fine.. but it only lasts for one to two minutes.
Luca
PS: I sent an email to htc tech support and they replied within minutes, really pleased by their efficiency.
i have the same problem with garmin navigation, sometime.
So, if I understood properly, the Google Maps that were installed when you got the phone was not working?
First of all try a hard reset. I think it could fix it. If not, maybe change the ROM?!
A hard reset seems to have solved the problem, but there are still a couple of things that I want to try.
At this stage I am not sure whether I should change the phone (it's new) or not, I must say.
Thanks!

The gps sometimes does not get a fix. Switching the phone off and on repeatedly seems to solve the problem, but I am not sure of the details yet (didn't have time to test properly).
My feeling is that there is something not quite right, but I've never had a phone-gps so maybe they are just less powerful than normal gps-units and the somehow erratic behaviour is to be expected.
If/when I find a final solution I'll post it.
Thanks,
Luca
Switching the phone on and off repeatedly is not a sollution, imo. I haven't used the GPS too often - in fact only 3 or 4 times, when I was travelling - yet every time I used it, it was on for 1-2 hours. And it worked perfectly. So, the fact the it freezes has nothing to do with the fact that it's "phone-gps".
Hi,
had the same problems a few days ago. Freezing by Using GPS-Apps like run.gps or mcguider. After a hard reset it works fine again.
Have no idea what's the problem behind this.
Lutz
mine also the same. after few hard reset. the gps become like god-mode..
within 1 min.. lock on.. but the device gets abit hot. mine is only 1wk old. i send it back for a exchange. i did request for chaning it to snap. but they say top up is reqired.
i am also using snap now. its a gd phone..
i had this problem too, with mcguider.
The solution for me was the qiuckgps app on my s740. Mcguider works only when the quickgps app is running in the background. When quickgps is not running ill become a freeze in all gps apps.
with quickgps it works very good over many hours!
Same problem
I experience the same problems. I bought the phone second hand, and with both Google Maps and McGuider the phone freezes completely after 1-2 minutes.
What I tried:
- hard reset
- run QuickGPS in the background
Does not work for me Does returning help?
My version: 1.14.404.0, 25/10/2008
It seems to be a rather common problem.
It might be good if everybody sent an email to HTC about the issue, maybe they can do something (patch).
In the end a hard reset was enough for me to solve the problem, no phone exchange, but it's not an ideal situation.
BTW: quickgps (or any other program) had no impact on my issue. It was not a matter of getting a gps fix, which is easier if you start quickgps beforehand.
Bye,
Luca

Possible solution
Hi
I had same problem. If any application try to connect to GPS, phone freezes after few seconds.
After Hard Reset it was OK, but only until I use QuickGPS. Then it again freeze whole mobile after use GPS application.
My temporary solution:
1.
Erase QuickGPS data. It was in Temp\xtra.bin and Windows\xtra.bin
Erase those 2 files.
2.
Soft Reset phone.
Don't use QuickGPS. Wait 3-5 minutes for GPS fix.
I was wondering what is wrong with xtra.bin. It is downloaded from web server xtra1.gpsonextra.net or simmilar.
At 24-25.10.09 there was time change from summer time [CEST (GMT+2) to CET (GMT+1) in my country]. Maybe it is some dependance between change of time and GPS problem.
Same problem is descripted in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=577898
Thanks, I just made another hard reset. And put everything I try!

[HELP!!] com.android.phone stopped working

Hello guys,
I am on LFB and am getting this problem when a call arrives from some specific numbers:
Phone starts ringing, screen doesn't show who's calling. After a while screen goes blank while ringing continues, and then stops. A popup shows "com.android.phone has stopped working".
The phone disconnects itself from the network and then reconnects back.

Weird: it only happens with some numbers. Other numbers work perfectly fine.
Weirder: I did a factory reset, and restored only user apps with titanium. Initially it worked okay (even with the specific number that was causing the problem earlier). Then after I woke up today morning I saw that the problem had returned!!!!!
I had turned off the automatic backup and restore options.
Need your urgent help please!! Phone is unusable as a phone with this problem when I get certain calls.

After the second OTA update i had the same problem. My solution was deleting the whole phonebook (take a backup of ur phonebook via Kies before deleting it) and restoring it via Kies and i am using my phone for 1 day, seems it's solved. At least for me

If its the phonebook, then you can just either create a vcf file or back up to Google first then remove account, I had this issue myself. Had a few more problems right after it too and I ended up sending the phone back for a new one.
You should start by doing a full wipe and starting afresh. Chances are this issue might pop up its head somewhere else.
Either that or try the phone book thing and if that works and your happy then great.

After restorig the phone book, I am using my phone for a 1 day and seems that error was only related to phone book. Also used lots of apps and functions (like gps, bluetooth,wifi,data,etc..) and didn't have the "com.android.phone" error or may be i missed something. What problems u got and that leads u getting a new one?
Please refer to - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756752 .. This solved my problem. Btw.. Are you using facebook contact sync app ( not the original facebook application ).
Let us know if this solved the issue.
No amount of factory resets would solve the issue. So I came to the conclusion that something was wrong with the phone.apk in the firmware itself.
On a hunch, I flashed Criskelo's Disable-Increasing-Ring mod.
WORKS PERFECT NOW!!

Open Play Store app.
Open installed apps list (via the icon that looks like a down pointing arrow located in upper right corner of screen).
Press INSTALLED (upper left corner of screen).
Scroll through list of installed apps on left side of screen and find YouTube app. Most likely, it is at the end of the list.
Press YouTube in list then press large YouTube icon on the right side of screen.
On next screen, press Uninstall, then press OK.
Wait to allow YouTube to be uninstalled.
Next, press Update, then press Accept & download.
Wait to allow YouTube to be reinstalled (updated).
Exit Play Store app.
YouTube app should now function properly.
nope, did that a few times and still doesnt work...

Call answer issue

Xperia Z2 D6503
Sorry for the empty post... So, first, I have the .402 firmware, locked bootloader, rooted with some xposed modules. Everything work fine, exept one annoying calling issue... When I'm answering a call, I feel a strong, short vibration and the other party is complaining about a strange loud noise right after I answered. Anybody have this issue? I'm going nuts searching all over for similar problem, but I can't find anything...

Hmm i havnt had this issue
Ive found you need to let a device settle for a bit if its running 4.4.2
Reflash your firmware via flashtool then power upp and leave it to settle for 30-60 mins
Backup your data/internal and restore, rom should run a lot better
Not sure what causes this unsettlement in 4.4.2
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Happens on my devices also.
Some Android phones have the feature to vibrate on answer/hangup, it is typically a setting you can turn on/off.
I am not sure if it is turned on by Sony and it just simply fails to work half the time. So far I have not found the setting exposed anywhere in the stock Sony ROM's.
Thank you for the answers. I've read on other places that this is a feature, but in the newest androids can't turn off. I will try to reflash via flashtool, but first I think, I need to do some testing with my xposed modules. Do you think that some xposed module causing this? I not have any xposed module related to calling/vibrating. Really, I don't care about that the device vibrates right when I'm answering, but that strange voice that hears the other party...I don't think thats a "feature"
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Gravity Box has that feature...

I have Gravity Box installed, and in that option nothing is selected. So in that case, I mean the vibrating is disabled in every scenario... Anyway, I'm starting to change some settings in Gravity Box. I forgot to mention, that in firmware .55(without xposed framework), I didn't notice this vibrate issue.

I think i have same issue like u .once noticed by my friend he heard vibrating*
In that time i thought it is normal because i installed call vibrating*but after see ur post i need to make a test now
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Free mobile app
paullu, until now, I think I'm the only one with this issue Can I ask you, what kind of call vibrating soft or mod do you installed? On the other part, I made some tests with Gravity Box. I checked one option, restarted the phone, than unchecked that optio and again restarted the phone. Receive some calls and didn't notice the problem... But to be sure, I need a couple of more received calls.
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Ok...now I'm getting very frustrated. I've checked in Gravity Box to make sure non of the options in "call vibrations" are selected. Also installed an xposed module called "android phone vibrator" and deselect all the option. Nothing works... The strange thing is, that this issue sometimes appearing, sometimes not. In the last 2 calls that I have answered, the other party is complained about that he is "hearing" my vibration... I have found some peoples on other places, who has facing similar problems, but non of them was answered. Really, I must have to reflash the firmware, or better going back to .55, where I don't facing problems?
Dear l3opard,
i was reading this discusion and i thought my case is similar to yours
let me tell you my story perhaps it will answer your questions.
i recently bought the Xperia Z2 and i faced 2 main issues:
A- During calls, the other party cannot hear me well (microphone problem) ( even the .314 update did not solve it )
B- When answering calls the other party hears a vibration ( your case)
talking about problem B let me tell you when it happens and when it doesn t. if you answered while the phone is vibrating the vibration will continue and the caller will hear it, but if you answer between two vibrations the caller wont hear anything.
I assure you it is not your fault, it is sony's fault, i had couples of years ago Xperia P it had the SAME PROBLEM and when i bought the Z2 i assumed that SONY would have solved it. But i was surprised that the problem is always the same
in my opinion these small issues are reasons for loosing potential customers ( i am one of them) because i directly returned the phone ( i guess ill be getting the M8)
Hope i helped u

Funny that I came across this because earlier my wife called me and said it sounded real windy when I answered... But I was in complete silence... Very interested in this outcome.
I'm pretty sure this is caused by vibration while ringing. Then when you answer the phone at a particular time, it vibrates from the ring tone just as the call connects. I've heard it too, but only on incoming calls. Outgoing calls I've never heard it nor has anyone ever commented about it.
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Free mobile app
Thank you all for the feedback
Apparently the only solution to avoid this issue is to try to answer the phone between two vibrations... Well, kind of funny. By the way, I done fresh .314 firmware flash but nothings change. Fortunately, at me, the microphone is working fine.
Thank you again for the help and please let me know if any solution will be available for this.

Bluetooth contacts synch problems

Hi everyone!
I just bought the Redmi Note 2 phone and the Zeblaze Crystal watch and after connecting the watch to the phone I found out that the contacts can not be synchronized. I have my contacts synched with Google and Mi accounts and also on both SIM cards but for some reason the watch can not see them. Everything else is working - I can read my SMS, call cogs etc, but the contacts can not be seen by the watch.
Later on I tried to connect the phone to my car and it connects and works fine - I make and accept calls but again the contacts can not be synched. The car has a very good Bluetooth settings menu and a specific function for contacts downloading but when I try to download the contacts after a few seconds it stops and gives a "not possible" message. I can only download the call log... Just like with the watch...
So I am starting to believe that it is a problem with the phone - maybe something with the MIUI settings (MIUI ver. 66.77.33.00).
With my wife's Samsung phone everything connects just fine and the contacts are synchronized immediately to the car or the watch so its really a problem with the phone.
Any ideas what the problem could be?
There is no such thing as MIUI ver. 66.77.33.00. You're probably running a bogus ROM filled with who knows what. Legit versions are something along the lines of 5.x.xx
But I've also read there is a bug that breaks contact synching via bluetooth and it doesn't seem to be fixed in the dev rom, yet. Can't really test it, don't have BT in a car or a smartwatch.
Developer rom name:
Y.M.D
Y = Year (2015 -> 5)
M = month
D = day
Stable rom name:
V.x.x.x
V = miui version (for example miui 6 -> 6 or 7 > 7)
x = some subversions
Resellers rom name:
VV.x.x.x
VV = double miui version (for example miui 6 -> 66, miui 7 -> 77)
x = some subversions

Crim Soukyuu: Thanks for your answer...
I am getting really confused - I am posting a screenshot showing the MIUI version and some other specs. The phone is really not behaving bad but there are some apps that I want to get rid of and I can not.
If there is a better clean ROM for this phone I may think about flashing it...
Please see the details on the screenshot and let me know what you understand out of it... I am really not too much in the MIUI/android versions...

" delirium Rom"
Ive got no Problem with that
@ratab: your version is rigged so that you will never get any official updates (simply because there won't likely be a MIUI v66 in the next decade). It might not behave weirdly on the surface, but you can never know what kind of spyware might be hiding in the background. Just flash a clean EU ROM and be done with it.
I had the exact same MIUI version on mine, so you're not alone. It was full of junk and a virus scan revealed two trojans. False positives, I assumed, but removed them nonetheless. The amount of junk on this phone beggars belief, so I'm glad I never hooked it up to my email or anything like that before getting a custom ROM.
It seemed like a completely legit version of MIUI, though. Got mine from gearbest.com.
EDIT: Oh and yeah, I haven't been able to sync contacts to my car either (Mazda 3). It seems to be audio only.
Thanks everyone for the support. I am really thinking about flashing the latest EU ROM - I will just have to read a bit more about flashing because really like the phone and do not want to loose it too soon doing something wrong during the flash...
Need some help in choosing the correct ROM for that phone...
I followed the link that Crim Soukyuu gave for a clean EU ROM - Multilang Dev MIUI v7 ROM - v5.10.16 but when I followed the download link there are two options - MIUI 6 and MIUI 7. And inside there are number of different files for downloading and I do not know which one to take. Would someone please help me with choosing the correct one?
Thanks!
You'd have to do something terribly wrong, like purposely pulling the battery mid-flash to hard brick the device. Even flashing a faulty ROM usually still allows you to boot into fastboot and flash a working ROM from there. I've had a few softbricked devices (recoverable from fastboot) and no hardbricked devices (not recoverable) so far.
edit: huh, sorry, didn't refresh the page before posting. You should get the newest release, namely 5.10.22 as it's reportedly has better battery life. So far it's been a good version for me.
As for MIUI6 vs MIUI7, take the 7 one. It has root built in and is the newest version of the ROM, while the 6 is the old stable one that doesn't have root, afaik.
edit2: oh and our device is codenamed "hermes", so you need the xiaomi.eu_multi_hermes_5.10.22_v7-5.0 one
Thanks for the prompt reply. I found it and already downloading...
Is there any how-to procedure to follow - I am really afraid of doing something wrong...
I also think the phone is not rooted and I will have to root it first and then flash the new ROM.
Then probably put it on the SD card and flash from there...
If you're on windows, you can try using this tool to get TWRP installed on your phone (don't have to unlock the bootloader). Boot into it (press vol+ repeatedly after turning it on) and allow modification (otherwise the mi recovery will delete TWRP on reboot). Then just wipe the phone and flash the ROM you've put on your SD card. It has shown me an error the first time I tried flashing the ROM, but after rebooting into TWRP once more it worked just fine.
Thank you very much for the assistance - flash done and all problems gone - the phone shares all contacts now...
Looks fine for now - I will need time to check the MIUI 7 but seems to be OK.
Thanks again!
Good stuff! I ended up flashing mine with the sAOSP ROM and got a fully working bluetooth sync with that :good:
So far so good - the phone acts really well with the new ROM and battery life is much better.
I have another question regarding the Bluetooth connections...
I was able to pair my phone to the smart watch (Zeblaze Crystal) and to my car's Bluetooth and successfully synched the contacts.
Using the car Bluetooth is simple and easy - the only issue I have is that the phone is dual SIM and when I try to dial from the car the phone always asks which SIM to be used and eventually after a few seconds the dialing is interrupted. I can always set one of the SIM cards to be the default dial SIM but then why having the two cards if I cannot chose which one to use. Unfortunately there is no option in MIUI 7 to assign a SIM to a contact and the phone will always ask and wait for my choice...
Same case when dialing from the smart watch so at the end - no remote dialing from a Bluetooth device without touching the phone... If anyone knows a good way to solve this issue please share!
On the other hand I have a different issue with the smart watch. When connected, the watch overtakes the phone function and during a call the audio goes through the watch (funny). My natural desire is to transfer the audio to another Bluetooth device (headset or earpiece) so I can operate my calls/messages/notifications from the watch and hear the audio from the Bluetooth earpiece without taking the phone out of my bag.
The problem is that when I disable the phone audio function for the watch connection and enable it for the earpiece the watch also looses the control/notification capabilities - it just stops notifying me about the calls and messages I get.
There are three options in the Bluetooth menu that allow me to use the watch for: Phone audio, Media audio and Input device. If I disable the phone audio it cuts also the notifications and then no meaning of having the watch at all...
Any idea how to set the three devices (phone, watch, earpiece) to work simultaneously???
Thanks!
