Umidigi S2 Pro - Stock Android Port / Alternatives - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I'm now for quite some time with my new Umidigi S2 Pro. And I'm not very satisfied, especially because this garbage OS they programmed naming it Umi OS (V2. 0).
They forbid the use of your (also payed!) third-party launchers, the OS can't handle the resources well (CPU load with nothing running is often at 100% - phone kind of never using more than 2gb RAM if the 6gb available - it's LAGGING like hell!), and so on.
Until now I always rooted my phones for more flexibility and customization options.
For reasons like Online Banking and other stuff where you should NOT have root this is something I don't want this time, no more rooting if possible. Only another ROM (possibly stock).
I'd like to know if anybody is already trying to port a stock android ROM for this phone. If yes, I'd like to offer my help (if helping is possible).
If not, I'd like to ask for guides about porting stock android. Or ANY guide that can help me out. Doing research on the web shows that it's not quite easy with Mediatek processors. But I'd like to give it a try (and maybe start the developing for other people to join in or develop further on if they're interested). For me it's not a big deal if it'll be Android 7 (Nougat) or Android 8 (Oreo), I just want this phone to run like it could and should. This phone is really a great product, good hardware, the only thing slowing it down is their (crap) operating system.
We need to get rid of Umi OS! And it's unlikely that Umi will listen to their customers (reading their forums will show you what I mean).
I hope someone is willing to help me (and all other owners of an Umidigi S2 Pro). Any help is greatly welcome and much appreciated!
Thanks in advance for your support.
Greetings

Yeah I totally agree, sadly I don't have a clue about making a custom rom
Would love it if someone would take the time to make this happen, if I can help out in any way I would, but I'm kinda clueless in this area..

Well there might be a way to port a rom from another device running the MediaTek Helio P25 (MT6757CD) processor, not totally sure if it will work. Not many phones with that Cpu but a few. https://www.kimovil.com/en/list-smartphones-by-processor/mediatek-helio-p25-mt6757cd
Here is how this guy did it for another mediatek device. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIrAuwYJyZk

Maby try porting the Maze Alpha X Rom

Is the site where ”getdroidtips” is sending fake information?

Please guide porting rom for Helio P25 MT6757CD (GOME U7).

Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup
I have tried z4root, gingerbreak and no luck. Since msi wont give us usb drivers we cant root using superoneclick or similiar. Till we have drivers, no root here
can anyone root the firmware directly.
here is the download link

I have the same problem with Windpad Enjoy 10, i think the specs and firmwares are the same for both 7 and 10 inches.
I am downloading the firmware now, hopefully there is a way to root the firmware. Worth a shot

hope you find a way and after it a way to install honeycomb! really is it possible to run honeycomb on cortex-A8 CPUs ?
I have quite a bit to learn in order to attempt rooting the firmware image. I need this to use ADB for debugging. What concerns me with this device is no matter what I do, skype ALWAYS runs, powerdvd ALWAYS runs and there is never more than 160MB free ram out of 512mb. Thats really odd and slows the device down terribly. As for running honeycomb, I have no idea to be honest. Im an app dev, need more info on the low level stuff.
I did update the firmware, the device seems much slower. Could just be my imagination though, but it feels sluggish now
Thank you for your effort, I also updated my device, i found no change in speed, installed apps, ram usage, ... I don't know if it's changed or not, my device info was\is:
Android ver. was 2.3.1 now there's no change
Kernel ver. was 2.6.32.27_MSI no change for now
Build No. was Android_2.3.1_MSI_201109... now changed to 20111128
any good news?
Nothing yet, my time is incredibly limited right now. I have 2 personal projects collecting dust
you are the hero! we'll wait for you
Thank you everybody
i install latest firmware and my tablet is speed up!really but my tablet is enjoy 10"
and my question is about when honeycomb coming for this tablet?
and is it rooting?it is very hard ?and why?and last question is about driver for win 7?
thank you for attention.
I have the 10" too. There's no rooted ROM, special driver or even any special support from MSI for this device (i couldn't find). so the honeycomb project will be so from us! hope someone opens a window of light!

cornelha, any news? how is the process of rooting a ROM? can i do something
He guys, check this thread for the ADB drivers. Just FYI...
androidza.co.za/forum/showthread.php/1254-MSI-Windpad-Enjoy-7-(MS-N7Y1)-Rooting-Problems
nothing's useful there! and I don't think if the problem of superoneclick is about the drivers cause my device is known by ADB correctly (in Windows7 without installing any further drivers)
@ cornelha
any idea for rooting the ROM ?!
Dears,
I have Enjoy 10 but lost the touch capabilities. any solution please?
explain the problem pls

If you have not had any replies, then I'm afraid its for several reasons.
You can't get "flash" files for mediatek chips set phones, they simply do not exist anywhere.
You can only "flash" something on a device that has the architecture to allow flashing (ie a Qualcomm) I'm pretty sure you need to build your own twrp/clockwork mod recovery yourself for your pacific device.
Mediatek chipset devices are notoriously difficult to mod in anyway, and always the easiest to brick.
I'm no expert but you really need to have someone explain this to you, your phone is bricked and there is no way to recover it.
Its the very reason after having two of these very cheap Chinese clone phones that both went wrong after only a few months I will never purchase such a device again, even after one came to me pre rooted and with CWM installed, that did not stop it going horribly wrong after 6 weeks usage.
My only advice to you is to google the make/brand along with the model number firmware(for example this is how I did it)
Example-Epade S90 (NEO N002) 4.5 firmware
But its doubtful you would be able to flash anything as you won't have any working recovery, and most of the website for these firmwares will be in Chinese.
This is my own experience, not something I have read, someone with a lot more knowledge than me needs to explain this to you in a way you may understand more than I can explain.

How to change Huawei Mate 10 Lite IMEI

Hello everbody, greetings from Portugal
Could you help me to find a solution to change IMEI of my Huawei Mate 10 Lite? The phone was offered to me by a relative who lives abroad and I don't know why, my carrier says that my current IMEI doesn't work here.. Also I don't like the UI and all the bootlware from HUAWEI and Google. I came from a Moto E 2015 (2nd GEN) which had almost stock Android and that was one of the things I liked more about the phoe. I've never rooted any phone or and/or installed custom ROMs before? I'd like to have stock Orero without all the bootlware. I'm a mac user so the only thing I found was CyanogenMod Installer for Mac. Is that what I should do? Can You help out a rookie?
Have a nice Easter and thank You all in advance!
PEACE.

That's nonsense. Unless it's stolen or reported as lost.
Now, i don't wanna pretend I'm Mr goodie-goodie, because I'm not, but at least i don't make it public. I doubt you'll get help here, to be honest, and let me tell you why: can you imagine all the heat XDA would take if word spread that it's helping put stolen devices back in service?
Just stating MY point of view. I do not speak on behalf of XDA.
And by the way i don't imply you stole it.
Dear Sir

I found their official website with a "contact us" section, you can try your luck there (I've not find any firmware btw)

Hi Raiz,
thanks for your reply.
I have already contacted AUN's customer service and technical support twice, but they never replied.
In any case, I think that Aun's Android 9 is not needed, I think any version of android 9 for projectors is enough, but I can't find any online.

Hi,
I wouldn't say that, because your projector and others have different components, hence different ROMs and Kernels.
This company isn't serious at all if they didn't replied, I guess you'll have to stay with Android 6. But whatever you do don't flash another firmware that the one for your specific device, it may brake it!

this is very frustrating because it is an excellent projector, unlike many others of this segment.
it is a real shame not to be able to upgrade it, especially because on many e-commerce sites they advertise it as upgradeable by the manufacturer, (see attached image) but on the manufacturer's website there is no area where there are updates, drivers or firmware, and they not respond to requests for assistance.
Many thanks Raiz

Seeking user documentation

Greetings.
Despairing that Sailfish OS will never have a decent browser and that it's actually losing ground in areas like support for ProtonMail and VPNs, I started looking for an alternative OS for the Sony XperiaX I got . . . to run Sailfish OS. A Lineage OS rom with the MicroG modifications would be fine -- if there were one already canned for the XperiaX. Likewise /e/. Best I can tell, there are not (please correct me if I'm wrong, bearing in mind that flashing a phone is like setting a broken leg to me -- I'll do it if I have to, but it's not something I'm good at). So I flashed away Sailfish 4.4.0.68 and installed OTA 23 of what's apparently the stable branch of Ubuntu Touch. It's pleasingly smooth in many ways, but . . .
-- There is NO documentation I can find. Nor can I find any forum or mailing list. It seems to be developers only, which is fine if you don't have or plan to have users. Does anyone know of any support forum or mailing list that helps mere users try out the OS?
-- There is no attention (yet, at least) paid to security, as witness the OS's inability to read an OVPN file so a VPN can be used. There is a document (https://ubports.com/blog/ubports-news-1/post/using-vpn-in-ubuntu-touch-3065) that describes how one might strip the necessary information from an OVPN file, but c'mon.
-- It is apparently possible to manipulate the left-side frequently-used-applications bar (or whatever it's called; again, there seems to be no user documentation even establishing names for these things), because I've seen different apps in that bar in different screenshots. But nowhere can I find anything describing how this is done. (I learned that you need to open the app store to delete an app entirely by accident.)
The hits just keep on coming, but I'll stop there. Does anyone know of any user support site/forum/listserv where we can sort these things out? I'd really like for it to succeed, and even more to be able to use it, but there are a few minimum requirements (VPN especially), that I need to be able to implement. Otherwise I'll have to go back to Sailfish and the world's worst non-Konqueror browser.
Never mind, I guess. I said hell with it and flashed the Lineage OS for MicroG image. Ubuntu Touch is prettier and smoother, but I need an operating system, not a puzzle game, and absent user documentation it's more the latter than the former. It's kind of like Linux in 1997, but without the newsgroup support.
Same thing here, couldn't even get beyond their installer. I guess UB touch is as bull**** as ubuntu itself...
for pointing it out! I thought already it was me but no, it's ubuntu...
