After the recent update(47.1.A.12.34), I have a Wi-Fi connection problem that does not connect to the router or hardly connects. This problem is resolved only by rebooting the phone, but then for the second and third times ... no longer connects and requires rebooting. This is a problem for me and my two other friends.
What is the solution to this problem?
please help me :crying::crying:
I am having similar problem on XZ Premium too after last mounth update and it is still not fixed with this new firmware. Waiting for fix from Sony.

Previously had same issue with a Z5 and after months of blaming sony, turns out, it was router configuration... maybe the steps by @dn96 will fix this for you, im on 47.1.A.12.34 and this problem is not present
So far no issues with this update...

I have the same issue. There is no way, I am going to do a factory reset of my router with 20+ devices connect and a customized configuration to try and resolve an issue clearly limited to my XZ1.
I have the same issue at home and at work, and again only on my XZ1, so this is clearly a phone and not router issue. Problem goes away by rebooting the phone, but then re-emerges after anywhere between a day and a week. Very annoying.

Turning on / off the airplane mode responds after this method and is not responding normally:good:
Go to developers options in settings /System
Then turn on "Enable wifi verbose logging"
This will solve the problem

Up till a couple of days ago my s3 would automatically connect to my wifi signal at home as soon as I walked into my house, haven't changed any thing but it no won't connect until either I reboot or switch wifi off and then back on again . Tried rebooting phone which works for the first connection but subsequently won't connect again after sleep or at least the phone not being used for a while. Also switching wifi off and back on again works but as before once wi fi shuts down it won't reconnect by just swiping the screen and taking the phone off of standby.
Hope that was clear enough lol
Many thanks Ian

Reboot the modem/router and try again. If that doesn`t help press your wifi connection in settings and reinsert the password and reboot.

Yes I've found plenty of things relating to wifi issues on the phone but none specifically to this one so if anyone could help I would be grateful.
I assume you've tried forgetting the network and re-entering the details.
Also try playing with the Wi-Fi sleep policy, in the past this has caused some problems with the stability of the connection. Settings, Wi-Fi, menu, advanced.
Also it might be on the router side. Try changing the channel on the router, and if it's dual band set it to 2.4ghz instead of 5.

Back up data. Factory reset.
Update firmware.
Change kernel.
That's three possible fixes.

I cannot seem to get the WIFI Sleep to work at all. Even when set to NEVER on when asleep I can see in the battery stats that WIFI has stayed on the entire time. Any idea why this is?
can you tell us the ROM and kernel you are using (if you are using custom)? I have never had any issues with stock kernel myself.
also, did you hide your wifi SSID? in the past, it might cause some issues...
I was having the same problem, try this.. Setting - wifi - advanced - keep wifi on during sleep - Always.
I haven't noticed more battery use,

if you want another option besides backing up your data, doing a full wipe, and reloading your data, try a different kernel...easy fix that seems to fix these problems most of the time...the kernel is responsible for your wifi, gps, bluetooth, cpu, gpu, etc...so swapping it out should fix an issue like that
My girlfriends XU is acting up ultimately weird..
Since some time we have this problem:
Wi-Fi only works for about 3 minutes when connecting to a wifi signal, yet the wifi signal icon indicates as if it has a good connection. The only way to regain connection again is to reboot, but then the same problem repeats itself, after a few minutes wi-fi is not working anymore. Also in the wifi-indicator the "send" arrow works, the "receive" arrow doesn't.
Basically if you want to discover a new wi-fi connection you need to reboot the phone also, because otherwise the previous connected wi-fi signal remains (it freezes as stated before after about 3 minutes).
Tried a factory reset already.. Didn't work. The phone runs the stock sony android 4.0.4.
Any idea's ?

Does it happen with all routers or only with your router?
Have you tried to repair using SUS?
Someone one the official forum had a similar problem and it was fixed by repairing the phone using SUS.

Hi,
I have a problem with my Xperia P.
If i'm connected to a wifi network and then go away (lose range), it becomes impossible to turn wifi off. If i click the toggle, it shows it has turned off, but is still on and when i revisit the menu, the toggle appears to be on again.
Any advice on how to put this to a rest? I really don't have the nerves to do a factory reset and resintall/reconfigure everything...
edit: i have the stock ICS firmware and no root access.
Thanks,
M

Hi,
only a factory reset helped. I remebered that i have been trying out some tasker apps, so that must have messed things up. Even uninstalling these apps did not help, beware
I am having the same issue, but whats more I can't scan for new networks when entering a new area. It just shows the ones from the previous area with the strengths they had there.
Rebooting the phone helps to connect once but when I leave that area it's the same **** all over again.
I already brought my phone back to the shop where they sent it to sony for "an update" but nothing changed.
The phone is running the stock android 4.04 ICS
Any help would be greatly apreciated

usually this is from the wifi router setting ... might need to change the channels(1,6,8)....ICS has showed issues on wifi refreshing and reconnecting.. first change the channel from auto to fixed value and then restart your phone and try it again.. see if this helps.. also do let me know if you are on rooted device with custom rom or stock rom...??

Either you have to do factory reset or rebooting the device might help
Or you can delete all used existing Wi-Fi connection for starting a new Wi-Fi connection
On a different area...
I know this may have been answered before.
I picked up HTC One x+ yesterday . Its picks up my home WiFi network during initial setup but when enter my password to connect to the WiFi .
it says out of range. And when go through the whole setup process and go into WiFi settings . It doesn't show the Home wifi at all.
I thought it was a hardware issue so i did press the phone where they show to press in a lot of YouTube videos. But it doesn't make a difference.
I have done the Factory reset from the settings and also through recovery wiping cache and then factory reset.
But No Success . It picks up the WiFi initially but doesn't connect to it after the setup.
I have also tried installing custom ROM . ARHD but same problem.
Stock rom version is: 1.17.401.3
Any help or suggestions plz.
Sounds like a buggy device to me. I'd take it back.

Just to echo what carnage said. WIFI works great on my device. Maybe it's a fault on your device, but you can always try the usuall suspects. Do a factory reset, see if that solves it. You could also try turning your router off for a few minutes, 99% of my WIFI issues are solved by that... Lol

this problem is due to the change of wifi country code (i read in a post) when you will take out the sim and then do the factory reset, and then turn on the phone without sim, you will see the wifi is working absolutely fine. I also have the HOX+ but not able to find any solution till now, ppl have written different solutions, like you will find "Wifix" and other as well. my phone is have problem cz it is from europe. i do not know why this is a problem with your phone. if you find anysolution do let me know.

Hi all is the wifi problem solved? i had the same problem now its solved..
I come from Italy and I updated my device on March, as everyone, I think. My device is now perfect except the wifi. The wifi disconnect during the stanby and it connects only using the static mode. I also have this problem even if I changed the wifi option for the stanby in "always". Another strange thing is that the wifi is reported as one of the main cause of consumption, as it is shown in the screeshot
I'm having WiFi issues as well since MM. It's set to Active on Sleep, but whenever I wake my tablet, it's disconnected and having much difficulties to re-connect.
I assumed it was some Xposed thing I'm running, haven't tested it 'clean'. Also, I'm on AndroPlusKernel v22. Not v22a yet.

Same problem here
Version .163
Stock kernel
Wifi standby settings to "always"
5Ghz wifi
Sometimes (not always) wifi disconnected after standby
DHCP working here
Maybe it is linked to wifi router problems during standby. I had wifi problems already before MM (! sign at wifi symbol). Maybe the difference now is that it isn't reconnecting in standby anymore after wifi failure. But just a guess...
At least it's not how option "always" should work...

Hi,
Maybe it's related to your router lease time that send a new DHCP address after lease time. Check if the lease time is set to "permanent"

Thanks for reply. It's set to three weeks, so not the reason.

I have the same issue but I actually have the turn off wifi in sleep enabled but it still shows up that its being used in sleep when I look at battery
The problem:?*
I connect it to the Wi-Fi and it works fine for about 5 minutes. As I'm watching YouTube videos every 5 minutes the video pauses and starts to buffer until it eventually say connection lost. Meanwhile the tablet still claims that Wi-Fi is still connected and with full connection. This also happens with web pages and apps that require and internet connection.
Temporary fix:
Turning Wi-Fi off and back on again fixes it, but only for a few minutes.
What have I tried to fix it?
I've tried everything from a factory reset to a software repair.
OS: Android 6.0 (Marshmallow)?*
Build Number: 32.1.A.1.185
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advanced.
