Guys I bought one Samsung Extended battery kit (2000mHa - genuine) last week and it worked a charm, noticed a considerable increase in battery life when compared to the stock battery 1650mha.
However on the weekend my Galaxy ran flat and now charging the phone, the phone starts charging, boots up, Samsung flash screen appears, then loads the main screen, stays there for 5 - 10 seconds, then phone powers down and turns off
I have tried several chargers, Blackberry (700ma) and the original Galaxy charger (USA charger - I live in Australia). I have read a few reviews that suggests I may need a higher output charger, maybe a 800ma or 1000ma charger? Would this be correct?
If the phone is still got charger, say 30% battery remaining, and I charge it using a Blackberry or Samsung charger, the phone charges fine, if its completely flat, it won't charge at all.
The phone has not been rooted and I am also running the 2000mHa extended battery mentioned in this post.
Any ideas to why the phone boots up, stays on for 5 seconds and turns off?
Info on charging rates for batteries:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Li-Po (cell phone, RC car) batteries are pretty unstable when compared to NiMh/NiCd (AAs, reg Automobile) batteries.
When Li-Po's first started coming into the Remote Control Car Hobby, the big thing I was told to watch out for, and follow to a T was the charging and discharging rates, because if you neglected them, that's when the cells would swell and possibly burst into flames.
Rule of thumb is never charge at more than a 1C rate or exceed the batteries voltage, meaning if it's a 2000mAh battery, don't charge at more than 2.0A, if it's a 1750mAh battery, no more than 1.75A, and if it is a 1355mAh battery, no more than 1.355A and so on and so on.
For our stock, single cell(3.7V) Li-Po 1850mAh battery, the perfect, ideal charge rate would be no higher than 1.85A at 3.7V.
It blows me away that the stock charger is 5.0V, but Samsung obviously approved it so...Whatever.
I can almost guarantee you that our phones would never discharge at more than the batteries max rating.
To sum this up - don't charge it at more than 1.85A and 5.0 Volts and you should be fine. If you can use a charger with les voltage than 5.0V, I would use that one...

One its a question in the wrong forum .
When flat does it not charge with phone powered off as normal charging practice for a dead phone .
jje
I have noticed this.
My theory is the phone does not charge while booting. So what little charge you had put in, would only be enough to boot, then by the time it can fully boot to charge again, it doesn't have enough power to stay up so it boots off.
If you left the charger on with the phone off for 10 min, should have enough to power up and stay powered. Try that.
If my phone shuts off automatically after not hooking it to the charger. When i go to plug the charger in the refresh symbol comes up on the screen but no battery icon comes up. If i unplug the charger the refresh symbol is still on the screen and will stay there until the remaining power is drained from the battery or a battery pull.
What i have to do is power on the unit til the note 2 screen shows up and then plug in the charger and all is fine. Anyone else had this problem?
a friend has asked me to take a look at his TF201 which he had in storage for 2+ years and wants it usable again, I started charging it with the supplied cable using my Anker 40W 5-port charger (he doesn't have the wall plug for it). I did a bit of reading around and an orange light is supposed to come on at the power button but nothing shows, not even a blinking light. I'm charging directly to the tablet, not the dock.
After an hour of charging, pressing the power button vibrates the tablet with a red battery gauge on the display and then switches off. After another hour of charging the tablet boots, with 2% battery remaining in a "not charging" state. So, I leave it charging overnight and it's now at 90%, still stating it's "not charging" in Settings > Battery.
What does the problem point to it being?

I would try to find an original Asus charging block on eBay or Amazon, I just picked up on eBay with a cable for $10 so don't overpay.

Ok thanks will try that.
I've also found the dock doesn't take a charge at all (it blinks orange for a few secs then stops), probably needs a new battery. Is it worth buying a new cable and battery at this time, as dock batteries seem quite rare/overpriced compared to a used TF201 tablet from ebay.
Yeah some people are asking crazy prices for the doc +$300 US. You don't really need the dock, I bought one new with the TF201, I'm now using it with my TF700. With that being said, if you can get one cheap, that holds the charge get it, the USB port is great for flash drives or a USB mouse and the SD slot on the front is a nice addition. Remember you can also search for AD01 as that is the Asus model number for the dock.

I have to laugh, I thought the TF201 that I picked up yesterday wasn't charging as it says "not charging" under the battery section in settings.
But I was on 49% charge an hour ago and it's now on 67% charged battery....:silly:
The dock appears to be well and truly dead but will interact with the tablet if plugged in. Seems that you can get replacement batteries, on Aliexpress, for around £17/18 shipped to the UK.
There's a Youtube video that suggests that you need to disconnect the battery if the table won't charge up at all. I had that problem with a Lenovo Tablet that was completely dead. Removed the back and disconnected the battery for 30 seconds or so, then plugged in the charger and it was charging normally once more.
From further reading there's an awful lot of problems with the Transformer series, so I guess I just have to consider myself lucky that it's even charging in the first place???
Anyone using this battery charging case? Bought one from Amazon a week ago, it works great but there is one problem.
As we know when just charge the phone using any USB C cable. I usually charge it at night when I goto bed, so when it charges the phone up to 100% full and the phone will remain 100% unless I unplug the charger (doesn't matter how many hours or days)
But if I put the Alpatronix battery case on my phone, when I charge it all together (according to the manual , it was programmed to charge my galaxy s8 first then battery case) When my phone reaches 100% it stopped charging and I can see the battery starts draining even though my charge cable still connected. This is what I don't understand. I tested it with straight charging cable and wireless charging. Both end up the same with the Battery case attached. It will charge my phone and the battery case for sure, but it stops charging while my phone reaches 100%. And when it starts draining from 100 to 99 and so on. It will not automatically charge my phone itself till it is full. It will only charge the phone when I am not using battery case. My phone will remain 100% all the time with charge cable connected. No matter how long I have the phone connected to the charger, hrs, days. It will keep it 100%. I wonder what is the main problem? Would it be a defective Alpatronix battery case?
I think it is normal?
I've had many kind of power bank, which is the same principle as battery case. Most of them stopped charging when phone battery is full, and yes, you need to initiate the charging again if the phone battery starts decreasing (usually by pressing the button).
Well, there are several "smart" power banks that starts charging when you plug in the phone, and does trickle charging when the phone is full. But, what I want to say is that not every power bank is made of the same system.

Are you talking about power bank or battery case?
If you know any battery case that has the feature I mentioned above, can you give me the name?
I have a few power banks but I don't like carry it separately. Battery case is more convenient.
Hello
A friend gave me a broken Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. The phone has a broken and bent screen and a battery problem. First of all, the battery has a capacity of only about 400 mAh instead of 4000 mAh (I checked with a Keweisi USB voltage meter).
Secondly, the phone without the charger connected turns on until it displays the "Mi" logo, then you can see the black screen and hear the warning sound of a discharged battery and the phone turns off. If I plug in the charger and try to turn on the phone, it turns on and works normally, the charger can already be removed. Of course, due to the very low battery capacity, it discharges very quickly and switches off when the battery is about 20% charged.
There is no doubt that the battery is defective. But I wonder if if I change the battery and the screen, the phone will work normally again, or maybe the fact that without the charger it turns on and off after a while is a bigger problem, for example the motherboard. But I think that if it was a motherboard the phone would not turn on at all. What do you think?
