This one i know what i'm talking about....
call recording depends on local and state laws. Some states/countries it is against the law to record phone conversions. While it other only one of the two party members must be made aware of the recording and very very few allow one to record a phone call with out either member knowing.
I would first HIGHLY suggest looking into your local laws regarding this prior to doing it. You could get in some trouble over it.
I know Google Voice will allow you to record incoming calls, but not out going calls. Other than that i do not know of program that will allow you to do this.
this is mainly for when i call customer service lines so there is no problem as they record it as well. plus i'm in a state where only one party (myself) needs to be informed.
edit: tried vrecorder but it records from microphone. no biggie but who likes to use speakerphone?
i read somewhere that android itself limits the recording. can anyone clear this up for me?
I've tried a few of them- all of them were OK if using speaker. without speaker only your voice can be heard and the other side only very faint, if heard at all.
now I an using "record my call" (with the ugly big red button) and it is relatively working fine most of the time. I like it because it enables you to classify as important, delete record etc after the call...

Android doesn't have any mechanism for recording incoming audio in the OS. For some reason it's missing, even though Android is not bound to US borders, and call recording is perfectly legal in other parts of the world. This is the reason why there are few programs to record calls on Android, and none of them work w/o using speaker.
The only existing way to record would be to put the phone on speaker and use any voice recorder you want.
I use "allcallrecorder" just search for it in the market. Works great for me.
Hi guys!
As the titles says, does anybody knows any good/working Call Recorder for Droid?
I have tried some of them and got none working. I always get a metallic noise sound once I try to play my recorded call.
All I would like to get is:
- Show a record button on my call screen, so I can record this call or not.
- Dont care about Speakerphone, its even better if does not turn my speakerphone on.
- Free or paid, I dont care, as long as it works
Thank you very much!!!
Any help will be appreciated.
why do you want to record a phone call?
Man, I had so many problems with companies here.
Once happened when they called me, asked me about a service and I decided to get it cause was a good deal. Once I have got the bill, the value was higher then it was supposed to.
So lets say I am not lucky with this and I just want to make sure I have recorded calls when needed

Hi,
Is there a way to enable call recording on stock but rooted and locked bootloader on this awesome phone?
Please advise.
Install Xposed.
Then Xperia Dialer Mod module
Oh.. Thank u very much
I use the Call Recorder app (by skvalex).
Works so fine..
No root, mods are necessary. I am using ACR call recording app and all I can say that it is brilliant.
Coming from Samsung devices it is a great thing for me to be able to actually record the calls

So do those Third Party apps like one you mentioned records from Line? or does it use your speaker phone?

I am not really sure what you mean by from "line" or "speaker phone". All I can say is that the speakers voice quality is actually better than mine, from mic, during the call. It records in 3gp format and seriously, it is really good.
If you want I can send you some example conversation so that you can evaluate but the easiest thing you can do is download ACR and try for yourself, they have a free version with limited functionality and you can try for yourself.
Sure I will try that app. By Line I mean direct recording through phone line I mean some apps use the speaker phone to record calls which hampers the quality of the recording. Anyways, I will try this app!
do you know how to display caller city, state (just like iphone) on the stock calling UI?

Yes, I need this feature as well.
As far as I managed to understand, problem is the lack of ability for line recording, as opposed to microphone recording which is enabled. Obviously with microphone recording, the far side's volume is very week, so that's why you it doesn't work properly.

Thanks. Still same problem. I asked for help in this thread, as this app seems very flexible and dev seems pretty responsive.

The problem with call recording is in kernel. Our kernel does not support 2 way recording (so both voices recording from line). It will record from headphones. No way to fix with any problem. Only way is to add 2-way call recording in kernel.

That's not entirely true. If you look at what I wrote in this app's thread to the dev, I managed to produce a scenario (involving the headphones) in which I managed to make it work.

Yeah, using headphones. With speaker it will not work without line recording imo.

It does in one very awkward scenario. Copying here what I wrote in the Boldbeast call recorder thread. Here's the scenario:
- Plugged headphones
- Made the call and started recording (Let's call it stage 1). At this point I couldn't hear the call sound in my headphones, but still in the phone (no such problem if I don't record)
- Turned speaker on (stage 2). Now I hear the call in the speaker of course
- Turned speaker off, at this point I could hear the call in my headphones (stage 3)
Now when playing back the recording, I could see that in stage 1 I could hear the far side low, but in stages 2 & 3 I could hear it fine.
Note that stage 3 is the interesting one. The speaker is off, I hear the sound in my headphones, and the far end is recorded fine.
I really can't put a finger on the reason to the problem. I'm just saying I reached a state where I could record a 2-way call, without having the speaker on at this stage.

Had problems in the past uploading videos, so will guide you step by step. Please try to keep up.
First of all make sure your device is properly rooted and that you uninstall all other call recording apps.
Now install BoldBeast call recorder.
After installation, go to the application setup, Call settings :
- Set call recording mode to 22
- Enable root options (took me a few times until it worked, but it should work)
- Fix Recording Issues - mark all options except for Auto switch speaker on
(On a side note - these settings were the only ones that somehow worked. You are welcome to try other ones)
Now after setting this up, you will see a record icon for any call you make. Clicking it will start recording the call (showing a blue paw icon in the status bar). You can then hear the recorded calls by selecting the phone icon in the app.
Now to scenario I described:
- Plug your earphones in
- Make a call
- Click the record button. At this point, you won't hear the audio in your earphones but still in the phone
- Turn the speaker on, then turn it off
- You will now hear the audio in your earphones
Now after you hangup, you will hear both sides of the call starting the point you turned the speaker on and off.
This is really awkward. I guess christi is right by saying that the problem is in the kernel/ROM (as it worked properly with stock JB & KK). In addition, this app's dev told me it should have worked for me (using another mode - 34), and that he couldn't help if it didn't. So, I guess that until the kernel/ROM is fixed, we won't have call recording working normally in this ROM.

Firstly, I got my device back. Secondly, I have never ever promised anything like that. I said that I will watch on it and see what can be done, so never promised a thing. This is not a priority for me since it's not my job or anything like this. I am making this for free and I have never charged anything so far. Who wants can donate, but again, I am not charging, so I am making this when I want/ have free time/ have the mood for it. If you still doubt it, or anyone does, I have the pm saved. Please don't say I promised when I didn't do such thing. Things like this drive me nuts. Have a nice day.
cool man.. i just said simply.. dont be serious. sorry if i anything did wrongly..

Hi xda!
First of all my specs:
I9300 International
Unofficial CM 12 build made by JustArchi and Moster7
My problem is that my voice does not go through in a call, the person who I am talking says that he cannot hear me bur I can hear him. Same goes for voice recording, the only thing that is recorded is some sort of static. But in video recordings, well, it records my voice but with some static.
I tried cleaning both the mic holes with a safety pin by poking the holes carefully, but it did moy work.
I cleared the data of every app that uses voice recording, no effect.
Help pls.

I've had the same problem with my International GT-i9300 since the summer of 2013. It was built in the UK, France to be specific, and I use the phone in the US.
I had done plenty of research back when the problem 1st surfaced and eventually gave up, but I have returned to revisit this case, since replacing the microphone doesn't work, of course I knew that back then, so I was hoping that new information has been discovered by the android gurus amongst us by now.
Good luck, and please hit me up if you find anything out on your end and I will do the same!
If the fault is still present after a full wipe and flash stock firmware then you'll need a new motherboard, or phone.
I had this issue with custom kernels that used audio mods like Boeffla sound. Disabling Boeffla solved the problem.
