Mate 10 pro battery drain - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

Hey everyone
I am having an issue with my mate 10 pro
I just got it last week and battery life has been crappy
I thought this phone had an insane battery life
Anyway I am including some screen shot
I have been getting between 3.5 to 4 hours of sot
No gaming just some videos and browsing
Also my accubattery says my battery capacity is 3600 not 4000
Also chrome Has been pulling alot of power
Is it just my phone? Should I return it?

Hmm I am thinking because the phone has to adjust before the battery runs smooth
Otherwise I will have to return it
I returned a op5t because I thought the battery life wasn't that good but damn the mate 10 pro is worse.

My battery life is very good
Normally 6 to 7 hours sot
One time I reached 9h so
Also accubattery stated my battery as 4150 which is over the rated capacity ?

As it was stated many many times, unless you are playing or watching movies, videos, you wont get much sot just by using apps like social, emails and stuff. You should look at how many hours your battery lasts. Im getting 4h sot at most, but the battery lasts about 30 hours. Im using a lot of social apps( fb, meesenger, instagram, whatsapp video call), emails, surfing web, listening to music 2h per day, and so on. Im very satisfied with the battery because it takes me through the full day without any problems, whatever ill do on my phone.

This means you have an app that drains battery badly
Try to search for this app as it might be your problem

My battery drain overnight is between 1 and 4%. Doesn't matter if it's on Wi-Fi or 4G... same result. I have Facebook and the usual social rubbish installed.... does sound like a rogue app.
I find the battery life of this a monster... 2hrs of youtube and my s8+ lost 24%.... My mate 10 pro only lost 16%... scale that up over a day and this thing goes on forever....

Stats with accubattery
Pretty good ?

How do you get this low standby drainage? Mine loses around 8% a night even when running phone optimizer before going to sleep.
Unfortunatly it says only 93% battery health already at 3670mAh.
Dunno how trustworthy this is anyway, when charging at around 20% according to accubattery 1% equals 41mAh (that would make a 4100mAh battery)
but when charging at 90% accubattery says 1% equals 36mAh (equals 3600mAh battery)
From this I conclude that the Battery Health displayed by this app heavily relies on your charging habits.
The dude that supercharges every morning for 20 min thinks he has the biggest battery, the guy who keeps his phone plugged in the office thinks his battery sux
for this health feature id recommend charging from 5-95 for 5 days in a row... i think then we will have more accurate results

Nothing special.
I put in manual mode most of apps except apps I need to run in background.
I disabled Chrome and use Samsung browser, more battery friendly imo.
I'm on evie launcher but I had same stats with emui launcher.
When I sleep I put phone in airplane mode most of the time (because of waves) and I lost 1% and if i let data on, I lost 2 or 3 % per night (I sleep 6 or 7 hours max you know everything now ?).
According accu Battery, I have only 3788 battery and not 4000 as indicated by huawei.

The battery of my Huawei Mate 10 Pro was a monster until recently, last few days to be exact (maybe the last week). It drains 20% ish during night as well now (was 4-5% ish before). No apps draining, it's the system.
From 95% to 9% with 2h15m SOT last night.
Also seems like quite a few users have the same problem in the last week or so.

Are you sure that you don't install some apps like a launcher for example which drains battery

Nope. Only use the standard apps and have apps like Facebook, Spotify, Netflix++ installed. I'm at 80% now and the system tells me I got 12-13 hours left of use!?

Yeah, did it this morning. The 12-13h thing is probably wrong though, I've just lost 4% the last 5 hours now.
Looking at the graph from this nite shows the drain was normal, then suddenly after 2-3 hours of sleeping the battery started draining fast. Weird.

[Q] Awful battery life?

Mine goes dead in less than a day, I'm not sure if it's because I rooted my SGS2 or not (chainfire's guide) but then again before I rooted it, I had only used the phone lightly because I didn't know all the functions, but now I know it all.
Anyway, battery life is awful, how are you coping with it? Also are there like genuine branded batters that's bigger than 1650mh that will fit the SGS2?
Edit1:
OK, I have no idea why this is happening, because the default task manager widget on my SGS2 says no apps running, and I've also cleared RAM. I dont understand why, I'm not using some of the programs, like internet or clock etc.
Also, Advanced Task Killer doesn't show xScope 6 or PowerAMP or Clock as running under services, but Battery Usage still picks it up?
Display: 37%
xScope6: 11%
Android System: 9%
Voice Calls: 9%
Clock: 8%
Android OS: 7%
Social Hub: 6%
Cell Standby: 5%
PowerAMP: 4%
Wi-Fi sharing: 3%
Phone Idle: 3%
Edit 2:
Even after I properly exit programs, instead of minimising, it is still using the battery...
The same programes are still using battery even after I turn phone off, then turn phone back on, i immediately check the battery draw, and bam there they are
Really not having any issues with mine, infact im rather impressed. Have 48% battery life left after 12 hours of fairly heavy use is pretty good in my books. Im confident I could get 2 days use out of this thing if i wanted to.
Just do all the obvious battery saving things you can do!
mine lasts me a good 2 days, with moderate to heavy use, still installing all the apps I want and widgets etc.
Could you post your battery stat screens on usage and stuff?
I want to get a better idea by what you mean by heavy
Mine gets close to dying half way through the day with what I guess I would consider heavier usage. "Display" is definitely always the biggest battery hog haha
With Android OS or System coming in second

It seems like some are getting excellent battery life while others get horrible battery life without any kind of consistency. After I unplugged my S2 this morning I used it to surf the web for a few minutes, played a simple 2D game and then left it idling for an hour and it was down to 70%. Now, 5 hours later, with practically no usage at all I'm down to 45%.

I guess I must use mine way more than the people here who are claiming all day with heavy use. Because my Display is at 51% right now, and my battery is at 22% after 7 hours
I use mine a lot at work and have the screen on a lot of the time.
I thought these AMOLED screens were supposed to be more efficient than LCD? I could have my iphone 4 screen on all day and I didnt have a battery life problem lol
Hi,
I'm in the same situation. I've found battery life to be so bad I'm on the verge on selling the s2 and buying an iPhone 4. My battery drains at rate of about 1% every 2 mins of use, with the biggest drain being the display. Currently I've lost 28% in 40 mins of use. That's 1% every 1.4 mins.
No apps were running except web browser and wifi.
Would a new battery help? I can't find any official Samsung batteries online, and I don't really want to put a cheap Chinese battery in.

I bought a sgs2 two days ago, but the battery is very poor at the moment. Mine buildnumber is XWKE1 and the kernel is 2.6.35.7-i9100xwke1-CL181974root.
how can you update to XWKE2? if i press look for update, then there is no update availible.
battery monitor widget; estimates:
all-time averige = 3h30
average since (un)plug = 6h56
battery (dis)charge = 5h43
offtopic:
Also an weird thing is when the screen goes of and you turn it back on that the sgs2 tries to remove my SD kaart 8gig and then tries to prepair again...
I didn't root my sgs2 (i have a dhd which i have rooted with miui... fantastic!!)
My build says XWKDD, whatever that means. Can someone post noob-friendly upgrade instructions please?

I'm getting results similar to yours, the best I've had so far is 9 hours, with absolutely nothing running, no wifi, and not waking it up. It's ridiculous... I'm hoping I just need a new battery, but like you I can't find any official ones.
I updated to the latest XWKE2 firmware, but it did not have much affect on the battery life. It's still VERY poor. I'm still within the 14 day no quibbles return period, so I'm very tempted to return the phone, or at least ask for a replacement. The frustrating thing is that some people are reporting fantastic battery life.
Play.com are selling replacement S2 batteries from May 20th. You can preorder on their website.
The battery life is really not that bad, here's a post from someone on phandroid;
Scainer said:
Well.... 3 days 3 hours isn't bad from a single charge.. lol (or is that 3d 7h ???)
TBH, the phone was mainly used as a phone with the odd bit of net surfing. No games, and only a GPS sync test e.g. less than 2 minutes.
I only had about 4 calls on it, and data access was only on when I wanted it.
I guess this goes to show that you have the option to use it as a phone rather than a media device and you get a good weekend from it.

And then I tried it out, and I've had my Wifi on all day, had a few phone calls, lots and lots of texting, some browsing, youtube and facebook on wifi and 3g, and a little bit of gps and it's been going for 20 hours and 30 minutes and I still have ~50% of battery left.
If I play games constantly I'll get around 8-10 hours from it so far.
Your one of the lucky ones. I'm lucky to get 7 hours on moderate to heavy use.
Its strange how some people arnt getting normal battery life. A faulty batch perhaps?
Im on 40% battery after 13 hours off charge and ive used it a fair bit today (A couple of 20 min phone calls, some texts, half an hour of angry birds and half an hour of web browsing and i also took about 20 photos aswell) To be honest im massively impressed with the battery performance. My old nexus one was usually down to 10% after a full 12 hour day.
I just hope people arnt getting the impression that the battery life on these phones is bad when theres only a few people having problems (and maybe they have a faulty phone).
mine lasts around 18 hours wifi-on gps-on auto brightness sound on around 15-20 calls a day and 200 texts a day
It's always like this on every device. Really depends on the user, software, and cell strength.

[Q] getting frustrated about battery life(detail included)

"Long post warning"
I have really really bad battery life since I got Galaxy S2, I tried everything, never get what people claim(20hours+ battery life).
All I have got is something around 10hrs. I already using official Samsung 2000mAH extended battery.
I never liked root and flash rom but this phone made me do it .
yesterday I flashed to LeoMar75 2.7.1 with CF-root kernel (I read this kernel has best idle battery saving)
and hoping miracle will come and now..I still stuck in battery life agony
Can you guys help me determine what's wrong with my phone? I see A LOT of fellas report their phone can run for 30+ hours with 3G always on, screen time more than 2hours, internet, whatsapp and games
I basically did the same thing , I don't even do games but mine doesn't get pass 10hrs.

today I flashed the rom and kernel and I fully charged the battery then I have like 2 hours screen time for
whatsapp, engadget, FML and stuffs then sleep for 5 hours.
before I sleep, the battery has 57% left and woke up, 33% left.
I can understand 2hours screen on time drain the battery to 57% but I don't understand why 24% of 5 hours idle?
as you can see, my device woke up while I was sleeping and it's idle.
I give you guys some details
can you guys please tell me, which part of my phone is draining the battery ?
Display setting:
1. brightness : 20%
2. auto adjust display power : uncheck
3. display mode - film
Sync
I disabled Gtalk auto login and signed out Google latitude.
I also unchecked the "Backup my data" in Privacy.
I disabled Fast Dormancy.
and here are my app list.
I already did all the tricks I can find on internet to save battery for my S2 but still the battery life is miserable. I hope you guys can help me with this : (
ps. now I doing battery calibration, I think this is my last resort , I really hope my phone can do 20+hours with 3G data always on.
yeah well first of all when flashing a new rom, must wait 2-3 cycles before the battery life is maximised....
2nd of all why the need for both friendcaster and facebook ??
If the drain is still bad I would just recommend turning all data off etc...and seeing if the battery life is normal overnight (2-3% loss)...if not then something ain't right
edit; also check your wakelocks (on betterbattery stats app)

Thanks for your advice man!
do 2-3 cycles will make HUGE difference?
I have 2 facebook account for work and friends, that's why I have both friendcaster and facebook app.
I tried turn off 3G data and Wifi at stock rom(2.3.5) earlier, the drain overnight(8hrs) was within 10% so I pretty sure it's 3G data draining the battery, just don't know which app does it. (I have quite heavy incoming whatsapp msg don't know if that's the case)
sorry I forgot to capture the wakelock screen earlier but now my phone battery is completely dead,
charging it for battery calibration, perhaps I will include it tomorrow. Thanks a lot man

Try disabling facebooks sync for a day and see how battery life is then. I ran into a serious problem where my battery was drained 50% in a matter of hours with zero usage and once I remembered that I recently updated facebook I uninstalled it and everything worked fine again. I re-installed fb but disabled sync and battery life is still excellent, haven't had the chance to enable sync and monitor the battery though.

Turn notifications on for facebook but disable refresh (Set refresh interval to never). You'll get PUSH notifications instead .
are you loggdd into fb chat? If so, that should be it.
I suggest Skype.
I had Skype, Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Messenger, and Facebook installed on my phone before. Got around the same batt life as you.
Reinstalled the rom I had and installed apps one at a time. Those 4 progs are the only ones I know of I have NOT reinstalled and my battery life is usually around 20+ hrs with normal usage.

If you've never logged on then your fine. Skype has always drained my battery, but I don't use it much so uninstalled. Facebook was a battery drainer with the refresh times but now that it has push (I get notifications at the exact same time as I do on my web browser) it doesn't drain my battery at all.
Average battery life is anywhere from 20 hours to 1day & 13 hours. Screen on time is always 3 hours & 30 minutes minimum, most I've had is 5 hours & 30 minutes, that was without playing any strenious games though

wow nice tips! so you suggest even I didn't login Skype, I just let the app sit in there, it still drain battery?
I disabled the facebook refresh interval like you said and yeah I still got notification from PUSH, nice tip : )
I now calibrated the battery, fully charged, did all the tips you guys gave me.
turned on the phone for 1.5 hours with 30mins screen time, (LINE, Facebook, Whatsapp only)
the battery drop from 100% to 88%, is that normal ? (I use 2000maH battery)
with the 2000 mah battery, you should be able to hit 6 - 7hours screen on time. This does depend on your screen brightness however but your drain looks ok based on screen time. Id recommend that you charge the phone to 100% before you sleep, then let it drain overnight so you can check how much battery is drained in idle. With the stock battery, I normally lose around 1% every 4 hours when idle.
As for Skype, it did drain my battery. When I logged out it ran in the background and caused wakelock issues. 3G watchdog also showed that it would use data every 20-30 mins. I'm now using droidwall to block internet for apps that don't need it. For example I won't be downloading wallpapers from the "Flikie Wallpapers" app whilst using mobile data, so I set it to only use internet when I'm on wifi

I have the same problem so i'm following this topic very carefully
Hope you'll find the solution !
one thing to remember as well, A LOT of people with 20 hour battery life have hardly touched the phone. Some people can get 3 days worth of battery, but with a screen on time of only 50 minutes its hardly surprising. I'd say anything over 24 hours with a screen on time of 3 hours is very nice.

Samsung Galaxy S2 Battery Life not good

Hi, this issue is specific to my NON-ROOTED Samsung Galaxy S2. I have seen other simsilar issues for other phones and they don't seem to help. My Battery doesn't seem to last more than a few hours. No more than 5-8 and it's dead. I turned off the Data and wi-fi. I set my Wallpaper to a Black background. It just sits on the desk and after a few hours it's almost dead...
What can I do to fix this?
Rooting is not an option at the moment.. I'm still reading and learning about it as I don't want to create a paperweight and/or void my warranty...
No offence mate but for a start you can search the forum and you will literally find dozens of threads on the very same subject which have been posted on here over the last few months.
Search and you'll find the answers your looking for, a tip freeze the Samsung bloatware in Titanium Backup and your battery life will improve substantially, there are many other methods to improve battery life you can find them yourself.
I get over a full day on heavy usage...
No offense taken, but most point to Rooting my phone...This is not an option for me at this time....I'll look some more, I guess...

I know...that's why I posted, but I should have said that in my original post...I'll edit it....but I did find something that I will try when I can..Phone is charging in a wall outlet right now, and I don't want to unplug it. lol...I do thank you for your effort and understanding...
I have unrooted phone and get around 17-20 hours heavy usage.
I would suggest you flash a 2.3.5 Rom via Odin as they seem to have better battery management if you haven't done so
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
you dont need to be rooted to flash new roms via odin
Also advisable to charge battery till full then use till its like 1% then recharge full and so on to calibrate it a bit.
Rogue apps can eat your battery life as well so If you can afford it do a full wipe and reset if you can and see if it makes a difference.

You guys need to give more information if you really want decent assistance, there is an app called better battery stats, you want to look at your partial wakelocks section in that particular app, go get it either on this forum or in the Market, post screenshots of your battery graph in Settings>About Phone>Battery Usage and click on the time, also a screenshot of your partial wakelocks will reveal the issue 90% of the time
Also, there is no need to root your phone to achieve good battery life, unless it is found that a system app may be the cause of the poor battery which is hardly ever the case, anyone who points you to rooting to get good battery life has very limited knowledge of android and what is the cause of poor battery life...
Usually downloaded apps and user settings are the cause of poor battery, there is absolutely no need to root to be able to fix those problems.....
I noticed this one too...My stock DXI2 room tend to be a battery hogger and the display consumes around 60% of my entire battery life...
agreed I'm getting nigh on 2 days battery life nowadays maybe one and a half of moderate to high usage! certainly don't need to root and install a new ROM.

Charge your phone fully and use it as you would normally, the screenshots you provided doesn't show much, what you have to do is click on the very top where it says 22h 52m, that would take you to another shot that shows your "screen on" time in a linear graph just below "Awake" time, that's the screen that would tell us if you are having wakelocks.
Secondly, get better battery stats from the market or from this link here then set the display options to "Partial Wakelocks" "since unplugged", remember you do this after using your phone normally from 100% to 50%, this should be able to give us some insight into what is eating your battery, it may be better to let the phone sleep as much as possible, but I know it's pretty hard to leave the device alone......
You should definitely try better battery stats app. It helped me to identify the app that kept my phone awake continuosly. My battery life increased from 8-9 hrs to 15-17 hrs after uninstalling that app. I even bought the paid version from market after that. Must have app!!! Give it a shot. Its free for XDA users. But if it helps you then please do consider buying it to support the developer.
yup. My SGSII is on KJ3 stock & I get easily around 1 day & 16-17 hrs before i need a charge. This is with moderate to heavy usage (depends on your perspective) which includes:
1. Display is on roughly 1.5 to 2 hrs
2. Voice calls roughly 2-3 hrs
3. 100 odd texts
4. 30-40 mins of listening to music
5. 20-30 mins of browsing
6. 30 mins of running benchmarks
7. 10-15 mins of gaming
8. Downloads for 30 mins
8. Auto-sync & background data enabled for 9-10 hrs

Overnight Battery Standby

Hi,
I just bought an S3 over the weekend, so far it has been a delight to use and I have a question or two regarding the battery life. I am finding the battery great when I am using the phone, it drops much more slowly than I expected a 4.8" quad-core monster to do It is just the standby time that is concerning me.
Is it normal to have the battery level go down by about 20% overnight? For example, when I went to bed (about midnight) the battery was at 77%, this morning when I woke up at 7am the battery was showing 59% when I dismissed the alarm. That's 3-4% per hour. Running stock, unrooted, XXBLG8.
By comparison with other phones I've used, a HTC One S C2 loses about 2-5% overnight. I do notice that the HTC seems to switch the WiFi off for a good part of the night, though.
Also my phone seems to be suffering the 'cell standby dominates battery usage' issue, but as I understand it that's a bug with how the usage is reported and isn't related to the actual battery life.
You have to flash a cell standby fix or something to make it report the battery life correctly.

You have to use Betterbatterystats and run it and detect what uses your juice.
Download https://www.google.com/url?q=http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php%3Ft%3D1179809&sa=U&ei=agNHULnYK5PV4QSexIHQBQ&ved=0CAUQFjAA&client=internal-uds-cse&usg=AFQjCNGu6nYByZgGeMks2ZYrutbyzY_zvg
There next you have to unbloat your phone. Remove or freeze with Titanium backup
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1634624
At end your S3 have to use max 2-4 % per night wifi and wcdma switched off on gsm mode.
All of the above suggestions worked to reduce consumption while sleeping for me.
Cell Stand By Fix was the biggest help.
Have you made use of any of the built in power saving options?
Another big help for me was setting the wifi to remain off while the phone was locked. Seemed to save a lot of battery power. Not a setting for everyone, especially if you require receiving emails, or other data related msgs while you sleep. If you can wait until you wake its worth a shot.
Thanks.
I've installed BetterBatteryStats and the Battery Monitor Widget to get a better picture of what's going on. Hopefully it will be just be a rogue app or two that I can just blow away.
Also noticed with WiFi Analyzer that the phone's WiFi reception in my bedroom is quite weak (happens with all the phones I've tried but not the iPad!). That's probably making any problem worse.
Using TB to remove the bloatware needs root so I'll wait a week or two before rooting; I just bought the phone and want to make sure there are no (obvious hardware) defects while running on stock first

That fix DOES NOT reduce battery consumption. If only fixes that in the battery graph standby is reported to take a bigger share (10x bigger) than it actually does but does not affect the "charge left" calculation in any way.

For one, apps like Juice Defender may help a lot: they can disable data network or Wifi and periodically (I typically used to set it to 30min) re-enable it so the apps still get their sync, then disable it again.
Alternatively, making the phone fallback to 2G data network will allow you to realtime-snyc without draining battery. HSPA standby seems not to drain noticeably more than 2G on the i9300, but fast dormancy doesn't work everywhere correctly so your mileage may vary.

It's not normal. I'm on stock rom but rooted and undervolted. Mine only consume 1-2% during sleeping time. It's better to know what causes the drainage. Use betterbatterystats. Then you will found out if it's an app or your carrier. Fast dormancy is enabled in other carrier which leads to better battery consumption during idle.

Been using this 6000mah battery and does hold up
Perks:
Doesn't make the phone case bulky,
Lots of SOT, I got like 7 to 8 hours on a charge.
Doesn't get hot.
Still charges fast.
The only downside I have to it is that while it stays on 100percent for like 3 hours of having Bluetooth and music running with some moderate usage, once it drops to 99 percent it seems to drop more normally.

Hey guys.
Just received my battery as well. Did a full charge and battery calibration and started my first test as of last night. I'll share my results with screenshots soon but I'm going to get 8+ hours SoT after initial charging. This is impressive! I was getting between 2:30-4:30 SoT on official battery before.
Soo..
This is a 20 hour run from 100% to 8%
It includes a night sleep and lots of "on screen", meaning I wasn't actively using the phone for the whole time. What I've done are:
Some whatsapp chats, light Web browsing
Leaving an 'active' app running on the screen, for instance forex or livescore which are auto refreshing all the time so it's quote battery consuming, using the radio all the time.
80 minutes of YouTube videos @720p (most battery consuming item)
45 minutes of video watching @1080P
45 minutes of the game fallout shelter running on screen (I wasn't actively playing but I let the game run)
8 mail accounts (4 of them on Manuel update every 3 minutes and 4 of them at push)
Whatsapp Web connected all the time, been chatting whole day over my pc
3g on all the time. GPS and WiFi off all the time
Screen @50% brightness
What do you think of th result? It's more then double I was getting with my official battery
I am also getting more than double of what I was getting with my official battery. I am loving this battery so far.

How did you do a battery calibration? Also, is there a way to do a battery calibration without root? My company uses Good and it only works on non-rooted phones
Well, I'm no expert on this topic so I just used one of those battery calibration apps which only delete that battery. Bin file.
I'm getting some weird charging behavior that the battery stucking at 99% from time to time. But whenever it's fully charged, it's a beast. It stays at 100% for 40 45 minutes with screen on time.
You can see these two screenshots of the same full charge. Those are under 70% brightness, lots of browsing and ebook reading under sun. 3g on all the time. It's sick.

Hey. I see that you are from Turkey too like me. So my question is that how can I get that battery too?

10 saat çok iyiymiş. Gümrükte batarya sıkıntısı olmuyor mu hocam? paypal ile mi aldınız? nereden aldınız? ama görüntü çok bozuluyor.
its well 10 hours screen time. is there any problem in turkey's customer service about battery? did you bought it with paypal? but it seems like very bold.
There shouldn't be any problem with customs, it's cheap enough.
I cannot remember well but I guess it was a seller from ebay so it should be Paypal.

Nobody here is getting the invalid battery warming since it's not a genuine battery?
