Hi All,
I have a Tmobile Note 8 with the stock rom and installed all updates. When I search in the App Drawer for "F" the Finder App crashes. It seems Facebook is the cause of this issue. Immediately when I uninstall it, i'm able to pull up results that contain F. Searching for other characters that is contained in Facebook also crashes the app.
Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue. This also occurs on my Wife's Note 8.
The Facebook version I have installed is from the Play Store version 157.0.0.38.97. The Finder App version is 7.1.19. Android Version is at 7.1.1.

Tried and it does happen. I sent log to Samsung. Chances are like with some apps it does things to phones. Like words with friends breaking Pixel 2 song detection.

Thanks for confirming. I also sent the issue to Samsung. Hopefully Facebook/Samsung fixes it soon. I have a few apps beginning with F and looking for it with 50+ apps installed is frustrating.
I have the same problem, when I to disabled Facebook, it goes to the factory version k and the f search works again, but once I re-enable Facebook and try to use it , it ask to update if you want to use the app, which I did and again the problem is back !!!! buy the way it is the same with the K searsh which is resolved at the same time that I disable Facebook. I thought at the beginning that the problem was from Kik app.
Anybody had news from Facebook/Samsung regarding this issue ?

I think it happens with any thing the brings up facebook on the first list of apps. Seems like it has something to do with the Facebook icon.
If you for example use A and then on the application section hit view more as soon as you hit where Facebook would be it crashes.

you right when i disabled Application in search locations there is no crash at all.

Phew, I'm glad I'm not alone in this. Albeit, for reference, I'm using a European S8, and the same problem exists here. Tidbits, did Samsung acknowledge the issue? Can WE report the issue in any way?

recently I can't upload pictures on facebook while I'm connected to 3G network. While I have no problem if I use the wifi. Also I have no trouble uploading photos on google+ via wifi or 3g network.
Can someone help me?

If you all have the same version, perhaps there is no solution... Try to clean the app cache...

i'm using the stock rom XWKI4 with Ginger 2.3.4
I've tried to clean the cache, but nothing has changed
I've also tried emptying the cache, but nothing has changed.
Also today I downloaded and updated the facebook application
Did any of you guys try to upload it through the website using the browser ? Try uploading on a browser ( go to desktop version of site ) , using 3G , then using WiFi then report back here.
I just tried it and I can load both through mobile and web site!

Well it's obvious then , the Facebook application has a bug... There's nothing you can do about it, rather than wait for an update that might fix it. It's not a big deal anyway, I guess.
You could go to the market and leave a review of the app and tell about your problem so other users can check it and get it to update fast.

Just use the above mentioned as comes under share menu it also can download folders of pictures off FB good for backup purposes.

Everytime I try to login on the app it says loading.... on all my devices.
Also when I try to login to facebook in swiftkey I can NOT do it

Should come up with Facebook login screen after loading to allow access to account then just use share menu to send.
Not sure about swiftkey as don't use.

I think swiftkey, myalbum and also most apps use the mobile website to login and share content and the mobile site has problems :S the login screen never appears on screen
Even if I try to upload a picture in m.facebook.com it fails :S
update: also try to use google public DNS and a lot of settings on router and the same.
Can not login from android browser or any app or widget which use browser based login form (facebook app can login and all but can NOT upload pics) tested on my 3 android devices :S
Social hub can log in but can not upload pics aswell.
All apps are stuck on loading login page.
Also try with older facebook app (1.7.2) and the same, this looks like an issue with facebook page or with my router i guess :S

I can't upload photos either, but in the latest Facebook release I can't update my status, or checkin!
That's with stock rom, cyanogen, wicked, checkrom the lot.
Tried flashing numerous roms to get around it.
This is the first place I've seen or heard of where anyone else is having a similar problem (at first I figured it wasn't the app, and something I'd done on my phone).
Older releases of the facebook app work. Guess I'll just wait and see if a new release comes out to address the issues.

Update, today I try it with 3G and all works pretty good so is a something about my router :S

Hello everyone, I have given some checks to try to understand where is the problem with uploading. I have 2 with Gs2, but not rooted, and they haven't this problem!

I also have this problem with ics. Downgraded to gb and it works fine.
The problem seems more widespread than just facebook. I cant upload to any app on 3g. Tried dropbox, google+, facebook, google drive and even email attachments. just gets stuck starting to upload then fails.
Would really appreciate some help this is really annoying me!
I have my Google/gmail account synced to my N10. Is there a way to view/edit my contacts? I, for the life of me, cannot find a way to see them, other than the fact an individual contact will appear when entering into a new gmail message. This tells me they are on the tablet, just out of sight, apparently.

I'm also using aokp, but don't have the people app. Where might I find it? I even searched the Play Store for that before I posted this thread.
Things might be different for you, but when I pull down my toggle bar on the top right corner I can see my username as the first toggle. Clicking on it displays my google contacts and I can edit them as well. This is the case with both my stock 4.2.2 ROM and the AOKP version I use.

What happens when you click on the username? For me, a new window opens with my username in there. As soon as I click on that window my contacts open.

Nothing. It closes the status bar.
You really should have the "people" app. That's the default display name for the icon in your apps list, but it actually loads up an apk called "contacts".
If you don't have this, there could be something wrong with the way GApps are installed on your device. Which GApps package did you install?

I chose through aroma on Mr Robinson's AOKP. Very possible that I missed it. I'll dirty flash tonight.
Edit: I just dirty flashed and made certain that I chose the contacts app in aroma installer. I still do not have the people app. Thinking about a clean flash because it's annoying me.
I've heard of some problems with that new aroma installer. I'm running the same rom, but manually installed all cause I'm still afraid of the installer! No probs here so far, & I run nitro's inverted app package from Eclipse which is still - 2012 something. I just let Play Store update whatever's needed after install or batch restore with TiBu. But that installer I'd bet is the culprit. I think!

OK. I'm an idiot. If any of you have this problem in the future, I have a fool proof way to fix it:
1. Go into your app drawer and open TiB
2. Scroll through the list until you find the Contacts app.
3. Defrost it, because somewhere along the way it got frozen.
4. Profit.

I started getting a notification that seems to come from the official app (I long tapped, and checked the notification info), but this "update" apparently needs to be side loaded onto the system instead of installed through the Play Store. Has anyone else gotten this update prompt? I'm not sure what to do here.

i just got that just right now, its very weird...facebook getting hacked???
Now I'm getting a suspicious looking sign in error that is prompting me to sign in with my Google account. Something is definitely spamming me.

Facebook appears to be doing an end run around the Google by pushing an update to the social network’s open app to Android users today… and the update isn’t coming from the Google Play Store. The Facebook app on your phone downloads the update automatically and then beeps or vibrates incessantly until you install it (or uninstall the app altogether).
So what does the new version of Facebook for Android do?
According to Facebook it lets you change your profile picture using the mobile app, allows you to hide stories and report spam, and start group messages more quickly.
But there’s one other thing the new app does: It allows itself to download future updates without alerting you.

Some users are complaining about that. I think, this problem will be solved in a couple of days
I used aptoide and downloaded the Hangout apk and it replaced Talk and now its working as it should.

I can't see the big differences from the old app.
Can you send photos and videos out files with it like whatsapp? I haven't found a way to do it.
Furthermore I can't add a photo to my chat profile without having to add it to Google +.
And my contacts that I have pictures of in my contact book are shown without pictures in the chat since they haven't got a picture on Google+.
So far I am a little bit disappointed with these issues and whatsapp will unfortunately still be a more preferable way for me to send messages for a while longer.

Use Titanium Backup or similar software to remove Talk-app (remember to backup) and then install Hangouts from Google Play. Worked for me!
1)Delete talk with titanium backup
2) Restart device
3) Install hangouts from google play

Hello guys
I'm having an issue with the HTC messaging app. It keeps forgetting the contact images on the threads.
It appears there's no fix so I decided to use Hangouts. Hangouts doesn't seem to be working right either.
When ever I want to send a photo message. It prompts me with what app do I wanna use to find a media. I choose "always" on Photo or Gallery and proceed to send the photo. Then when I wanna do it again it forgot what I had set as default before and prompts me with it again.
Any way to fix that?

Yes and no. I'm using stock ROM and the app is running the latest version that's available to me via the Play Store.

Try disabling auto updates in Google Play and then downgrade to hangouts v2.4.78234730 . It seems that the new upgrade is losing settings. See productforums.google.com/d/msg/hangouts/OVWO3hrglNo/n5EB8R4s78kJ for instructions on how to downgrade Hangouts. You can ignore the stuff on dialer, probably.
I'm not sure if you are having the same issue since they are different settings but it could be related. Perhaps the new app is losing everything.
