Hi all,
I've read a bunch of useful stuff on this forum and hope you guys could provide an answer for the 2 issues I have on my Honor 7.
Since a few days sending texts takes extremely long time. Incoming texts also have a serious delay (hours later). I've checked with the provider and they don't have any issues on their network.
Second issue I noticed is that installing/updating apps from the Play Store is also very slow. Downloading is normal but then it just waits and waits a very longtime before it actually starts installing ... I cleaned the cache and restarted my phone already several times but no luck.
Before I continue with a backup and factory reset, I would like to ask for any ideas or thing I could try to resolve these issues.
Thanks in advance !
Update: I did a factory reset and had my phone import apps/settings etc from my Google account.
texting and installing/updating apps were working fine again So me was very happy !
However ... a few hours later of checking apps and re-configuring them ... I noticed a had the exact same issue again ! :crying:
Clearly there is some software/app issue causing this, but I have no idea which one, how or wat is causing this.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.
I've factory reset again my phone and am now configuring manually without the Google backup ... #wasteoftime
memory left
both problem(slow text sending/receiving & app downloading) have one thing common issue with the Network. can u run a internet speed test or try using home broadband/wifi
also can you check and share how much phone memory you got
how many apps u got running in the background
when i used honor 7 i did notice that phone get slow/unresponsive if your internet is poor
also uninstall/disable facebook messenger or at least roll back to basic version if u must want to keep it
updates mostly make phones slow
I have the Honor 7 premium and it has 32GB storage and 3GB RAM. Before I did the first factory reset today, there was about 5GB of free storage space. The downloading of apps is actually just fine but between 100% downloading and beginning the actual install, there was a veery long waiting time.
I don't use Facebook on my phone and the working speed of my device was also still working fine. it's just sending texts that just takes ages and I'm receiving texts with hours of delay.
I'm sure it's not the network or provider as after both factory resets it worked fine again. It still does after the 2nd reset but now I'm installing/configuring apps one by one and testing sending/receiving texts every 2-3 apps.
I'm pretty sure it is related to some app conflict that appears al of a sudden but have no idea what ....
Think I've found it ... devexpert.net Weather & Clock Widget
I uninstalled it (which took a long time) and Play Store installing/updating + sending & receiving texts is working fine all over again
I've used this weather widget for about 2 years and just a few days back it started causing issues. How strange is that?

So up until today, I've had not one single issue with my flyer. It's been super speedy and very responsive. I left it last night on the charger uploading a video to YouTube. (WiFi only BTW.) When I woke up the upload was done and the battery was charged. But everything seemed super slugish. Just flipping between home screens was painfully slow. I restarted the tablet and was shocked to see the device hang on both shutdown and reboot. For much longer than normal. I've never seen it this slow. I went in and killed some un necessary services and processes ... No change. I restarted the tablet again and if seemed slightly faster. But not like before still. I haven't tried rooting I'm still 100% stock. Could it be a virus? If so does a factory reset take care of that. Is rather not have to do that but I'm willing If its sure to solve my issues. Any other ideas from anyone? My recent installs include Google+, VidTrim, xda, and soundcloud.
I'll post back here if things change or I find the culprit. In the meantime has anyone else run into similar slowdowns?
P.s. I was wondering if it was an HTC sense issue. It crashed on me once before rebooting the first time and seemed to take forever to load after powering on ... All the animations were laggy and the clock was off by about an hr..... Frustrating. I really like this device.
Hi,
I get a major slowdown on my Flyer when connecting to 'free' public wifi sites. These are sites that provide free wifi after you have signed in via a web page where you enter a username/password or checked a box to accept some terms and conditions etc.
The wifi at my home or via my HTC Desire hotspot is fine as are all other wifi hotspots where I connect directly using the name and credentials stored in my Flyer. It's only these ones that require the additional login that give me trouble.
When it hits, the Flyer becomes unusable for anywhere between 30 and 60 minutes. Hitting the home button generally shows a blank screen that gradually (and I mean g-r-a-d-u-a-l-l-y) redraws. A message stating that HTC Sense has stopped appears and you have the option to restart sense, wait or tell HTC. None of these help as the message box just disappears and then reappears about 30s later. In all cases I've noticed that the sync icon is showing in the notification bar.
It's a real annoyance, but I can mitigate it if I login to the sites before the sync starts. Unfortunately if I accidentally wander into range of one of these sites, and the Flyer finds it and decides it's time to sync then it stops again and I have to very patiently wait for the screen to respond, pull down the notifications, switch to the config settings and switch off wifi. There is still a delay until the sync realises that the wifi is no longer available.
As I said above I also have a HTC Desire that connects to these networks with no problem. This is not running sense however as I needed more application space so instead it's running gingervillain 2.7 (android 2.3.4) and has no problems with the connection.
So I suspect Sense and some synching operation its running. Will do some more investigation tomorrow as more users come online at work.
Cheers.
Haven't heard of any Android viruses that slow down the system like you are talking about, only malware that is disguised as an app. So if you haven't installed anything recently, I would say not any type of malware.
Factory reset may help. But of course, that means starting from scratch re-installing all your apps, setting up your home screens, etc.
I'm attributing it to the fact that the thing had been up and running for like a week. After a restart it seemed to have cleared up. Note to self .. power down and reboot every few days.
I had something very similar...
I installed "a bunch of stuff", then went traveling (across Europe), and tried to use the gps as I went. The flyer slowed to a crawl and became very temperamental. It felt like something was hogging the processor. Several reboots did not fix the problem.
Even sometimes the unlock screen could not get enough processor cycles to complete the unlock.
I started uninstalling the various apps I had installed, and eventually normal service was restored (and has continued fine).
Unfortunately, I was not rigorous about the uninstalling sequence, so I can't be sure what caused it.
My suspicion is that it was an Engine I installed for Text-to-speech settings. But it is only a suspicion. Like I said I installed a bunch of stuff (stupid really).
If someone can point me to an installation history howto, I'll try to be more precise.

Hi XDA! I'm the proud owner of a SGSII since Sept 2011. A problem I've had since day one is that Whatsapp, Gmail, FB, etc don't behave in a "push" manner, meaning I'll often get the notifications half an hour after they should have arrived.
Recently, I rooted and updated my phone to Samsung's ICS rom and noticed that, when I woke up in the morning, I wouldn't have any notifications until I started toying with the phone for about 5 minutes, in which moment I would be flooded by emails, FB messages, whatsapp messages, etc.
Hoping to kill this unhealthy trend I upgraded to CM9 and flashed the latest radio through recovery. My problem now is that the moment the phone switches the screen off, it seems to lose connection with google servers. (I interpret that when the WiFi and network icons are colored grey instead of blue is because they have no connection to google servers, please correct me if I'm wrong.). Of course, my original problem stands but it is now aggravated by the fact that this happens every time I turn the screen off. WiFi remains on, but without server connection, as in this screenshot: i.imgur.com/SkLrQ.png
My ICS version is 4.0.4, I'm using the 22-04 CM nightly, I usually update it once a week more or less and will do it tonight to rule this out. I guess if it were a CM problem there would be more awareness about this. More info about my phone: i.imgur.com/y6avq.png
I should note that my WiFi sleep policy is turned to never switch off WiFi. Also, I leave my phone charging every night before going to bed. WiFi is always on while discharging but I still don't get the e-mails: i.imgur.com/0W37j.png
Please XDA, is this a phone problem? a rom problem? a router problem? Your help will be very much appreciated.
Don't hesitate to ask if you need more data for diagnostics.

So, what exactly is your problem?
1. Push notifications take several minutes to appear on your phone:
That's quite normal. Push does not mean that you will have no delay.
2. Google service (Gmail) does not sync onm your phone:
Have you wiped cache partition and Dalvik cache?
Have you cleared Gmail app data?
Have you done a factory reset?
Maybe you need to remove your current Google account and re-create it afterwards.
Good luck !
Thanks for answering!!

No, the problem is that every time the screen goes out while on WiFi, the phone will lose connection with the Google Servers. This doesn't delay the e-mails and messages from coming in, it directly prevents it. Messages won't come through until I've toyed with the phone for several minutes after waking it up

Yes, I wiped all the caches and cleared Gmail data. Since this post, I updated to latest CM Nightly, Siyah Kernel and XXLPS radio (which I believe is the latest). Still no improvement.
Will keep trying variables and update with results. Thanks for your help.
I have a similar issue with my Android devices as well, pretty sure it's not related to the internet since I've tested 3 phones (stock nexus one, stock galaxy nexus and custom SanFran) on 3 different wifi networks and they all seem to lose google server connection every 16 minutes.
going into *#*#8255#*#* i can see heartbeat timeouts every 16 minutes whenever the phones are connected to wifi network.
the only thing i haven't tried is to sign into another google account, will try that sometime in the future but not sure if that's going to help.
shudnt be wifi problem. i am using whatsapp on 2G / 3G and having same problem as well. Only started when moved over to ICS. Did not seem to have this problem when in GB.
You sure you don't have wifi sleep modus on while screen is off?
It's in the settings somewhere.. (maybe by battery and maybe by connections/wifi?)
Sometimes there would be no dial tone when calling. I can receive calls but can't make them. When text messaging, I would not be able to send them but able to receive them. Also I would receive copies of the text every hour or so. Clearing the cache partition would cure the problem for a little while but would come back
Bumping
I'm having the multiple text issue too, but was also having that on 4.4 which is why I updated at all. But my issues are overheating (even if it's been doing simple stuff like texting,) apps (most regularly used) are slow to respond with the longest wait being almost a minute or apps (once the mobile itself) freezing when I try to change between them from the recently used one, and while more of a personal issue, I prefer a darker theme for apps and many with 4.4 naturally were, but with 5.1.1, they aren't.
I'm at a point where I'm just going to root the damn thing until I can upgrade the mobile because suddenly I cannot use my mobile like I used to and I cannot stand it.
Hi guys,
First let me explain the situation: I've noticed recently that a lot of my apps, such as Gmail, Facebook Groups, Messenger and pretty much any app I need to have instantaneous notifications, aren't syncing properly. I might get notifications an hour or more after they are delivered. Even when I force-sync an app, such as refreshing the notification feed on Facebook Groups, there are delays that can go on indefinite until I get sick of waiting. I don't even know what the conditions are for this problem to occur because other times such as on WiFi, I have pretty consistent data syncing. Just a couple minutes ago I tried turning on and off airplane mode which seems to have fixed the issue. I'm going to see how long this lasts.
Here is the app I'm currently using that may affect data synchronization.
- Greenify: same problem persists regardless of settings and root. Haven't tried completely uninstalling it.
So just to be clear this issue persists from firmware to firmware regardless of Android version. I've had many android phones and am very aware of flashing procedures and all the ways to enhance my phone. My phone is unlocked and I flash firmwares using flash tool. I've tried fixing this issue by running rooted and unrooted to no avail. I've also taken all these apps out of the doze mode and turned them all on as priority.
Please let me know if you have any solution to this. It's costing me business.
Thanks!
Hello everyone,
I've been having this issue for several months now where all my social apps like messenger, instagram, whatsapp, flock, gmail and so on won't show notifications when my phone is connected to any type of wifi.
The notifications are late, or they show up when i open the app. Sometimes they repeat themselves even after i checked, like something is blocking them till some point.
I tried SO MANY things to fix this (factory reset, disable device care and any battery saving settings, reinstalled apps,...) and ended up using 4g all the time as the most solid one for the time being.
It's just very frustrating that something as simple is this is not getting fixed for a long time now.
Does anyone have similar issues? Or maybe even a fix for this? I noticed this happening to other people around me using different samsung devices.
I don't know if this is a samsung related issue or something else.
Thanks!
