Hey,
a couple of days ago I updated my Honor 7 from Lollipop to Marshmallow.
All in all I'm quite happy with Android 6 so far, but a few things are way worse than before, I think.
The feature I am missing most is using the fingerprint sensor as back button by tapping it once, I can't find any option in the settings menu to enable that.
Did anyone find out, how to reenable it?
Thanks in advance,
iuxn
Same boat!
I miss the back functionality of the sensor so much!! Someone please find a solution to this. And honor, if ur listening, please bring back the option. It was anyway an option! If it irked anyone they could just disable it! But what about people like me who loved it!! We have no option, especially now that I was so used to it
I concur. Keep clicking it to go back and it doesn't work anymore! My biggest gripe with Marshmallow over the Lollipop build for sure.
I'm using a custom ROM with justback xposed module. It's a slide gesture to go back. Don't need the virtual keys at the bottom now to free up screen space again. Still would like them to bring the fingerprint back button mind.
Hello guys, I have a little problem with my Xperia Z2. When I do double tab on screen sometimes my Xperia Z2 don't turn-on.
Alsome know as fix this?
I am with Rom eXistenz, but when I was with Rom stock, also had this problem.
I'm sorry, I'm Brazilian and my English don't is good.
Thanks
This is a issue you have to tap on the same area where u did the first tap and it will unlock
I don't really use this feature anymore as for me, it only worked "properly" on 4.4 and since then I find it very unreliable to the point where there's no benefit of using it as taping 3-6 times on screen just to get it right isn't very convenient. It's really shame, since back in time of 4.4 I've pretty much used tap to wake exclusively. Not sure if there is any fix/sensitivity change... Would be nice though
You can use an app called ambient display when u pull your phone out of your pocket it will unlock by itself.must try that
Thanks for all answers.
Hello,
I want to buy this phone, and I was wondering if you can tap into the screen to wake the phone.
I have no problem to root the phone and to download custom rom if it has the feature.

nope, it doesn't have tap to wake
The fingerprint scanner is an always on one, so when you are holding the phone you just need to touch it to unlock the phone. The only time that dttw would be nice is when the phone is flat on a desk.
lol! use the fp scanner to wake the phone? works once or twice in every hundred attempts
Thanks for the replies.
I spend many hours working at a desk , so the FP sensor will be annoying to use all the time.
From what I have also read on this forum , the FP sensor doesn't always working. Despite how simple this problem, I think this may be a deal breaker for me.
Maybe you can get this functionality with xposed.
You can find a lot of videos in YouTube with double tap to wake and double tap to sleep.

I will try that. Thanks for the info man.
My last phone before this one is the Droid Mini. So far the Z5C is infinitely better in everything (but my expectations/standards are pretty low...) except that the Active Display feature from Motorola was awesome. From a bit of Googling, there are some other apps that copy this functionality to various degrees, but maybe some of you can give more specific insight than the articles?
1.) First of all, I'm confused. This article below states that Motorola released the app on Google Play Store for the general Android population... but it doesn't come up when I search it on my Z5C. What the hell?
http://gadgetstouse.com/featured/to...lay-notifications-alerts-android-device/19901
2.) If the Moto app is not available, any opinions on the alternatives? From reading a few articles, sounds like Dynamic Notifications is my best bet. Thoughts?
I tried xposed module, but it used proximity sensor, so it is not the same thing. I also miss that feature a lot from my nexus 5x, double tap to wake is kind of replacement when phone is laying on the table. When you take it out from a pocket, pressing the button isn't such a big deal. I couldn't find any reasonable replacement so I learnt to live without it
I really don't understand why other manufacturers don't copy-cat this feature. It was without question the greatest feature of my old phone.
I tried out Dynamic Notifications, but it's weird. First, it didn't play nice with the existing lock-screen and login structure. When I had a notification, pressing the power button no longer took me to the lock screen -- instead it just turned off and locked the screen. It's as if Dynamic Notifications became a second lock screen, and the power button toggled it on/off, and I had to tap the home key to get to the actual lock screen. On top of that, after getting to the actual lock screen it seemed to somehow screw up the fingerprint login because I kept getting prompted to use my other login method (PIN in my case). Most weird of all, it had some crazy bug when I used Uber. I was trying to check where the Uber car was on the map, and it threw me to the Dynamic Notifications screen, with the Uber notification showing. I logged in again, pulled up Uber again, checked the location of the Uber on the map, and it instantly did it again! And again... So screwed up.
TL;DR: Do not use this app, at least not on this phone. It's buggy and/or just makes you jump through extra hoops when logging in.
Yeah I also have double tap enabled. It's okay I guess.
Nexus 5x had a dedicated hardware sensors for that matter, I guess that may be the problem. Anyway I agree with you that every manufacturer should implement it.
I would try AcDisplay for the lock screen and if you want raise to wake, try Gravity Screen . Be warned though, Gravity Screen is kind of glitchy with the fingerprint sensor, so I would just use AcDisplay. ^_^

So I finally got around to trying out AcDisplay. That video that is on the app download page shows how you can wake up the phone using proximity sensors, when pulling it out of your pocket or even waving your hand over it... But none of this works at all. Not even a little bit. Does that mean that the Z5C does not have any proximity sensors built into it?
Hi Everyone,
Why Huawei didn't activate this function to their high end phone. THIS IS VERY USEFUL.
Anyone, manage to activate this on their rooted mate 10 pro?
Think you posted in the wrong section, only way is to install nova launcher as it works with this

No, nova launcher has no double tap to wake. It has only double tap to sleep. I think you are wrong. If there is, pls guide me and appreciate it much.

Some weeks ago someone hinted at some code in the firmware which was supposed to handle double tap to wake. But there's no confirmation anywhere that Huawei will ever enable or further develop that code, just assumptions.
in Mate 8 forum there is a thread about enabling double tap to wake through some modifications on build prop.
That requires Root but I have no idea if that procedure could be implemented on mate 10

It's probably because of the screen technoligy that's being used.
I thought I'd miss the double tap to wake after coming from a oneplus one but the fingerprint sensor on this phone is so good I haven't looked back, one press and it's unlocked

Me too
Yes, the sensor is good, but kind of difficult to access while phone is mounted in a car - double tap to wake would be nice then, I miss it from my OnePlus X.
hello to all.... is possible that even in march update official, for huawei mate pro, is not present double tap to wake? other alternatives drain many battery... i hope a solution in last 4 monthes in this post
my solution
Hello,
As a former LG G2 user I've quickly begun to miss the double tap to wake/sleep | knockon/off function with my Huawei Mate 10 Pro. So after lots of investigations and app trials here's my solution which seems to perform pretty well in my opinion.
After trying many apps I've encountered the so called 'Always on AMOLED | Edge lighting'.
Here's my setup on the mate 10 pro (emui 8.0.0, android 8.0.0, build 8.0.0.157 C432) first:
1) Disable smart cover
2) Disable pick to wake
3) Disable pulse light (it won't work and we'll use app's notification handling which is great in my opinion)
4) Disable always on display information
5) After installing the app (VERY IMPORTANT!):
- Go to ignore battery optimisation in android's settings and add this app to the Allowed list
- Go to battery / launch - then Manage manually the amoled app:
* set to on - auto launch
* set to on - secondary launch
* set to on - run in background
To quickly find the upper settings use the search bar in the settings menu.
Then in the app (v. 2.1.7 tested):
1) I've made a fully black background instead of a clock - upto your flavor
2) Enable the POCKET MODE! This actually saves battery a lot since if proximity sensor is covered the screen is completely shut down. When you sleep/want to save battery place the phone with face down - sounds as no problem to me..
3) Brightness is set to 10 or so - again upto you, the less the better for the battery
For double tap to lock I use a widget placed all over the screens where there are no icons - sounds annoying but once settled it works flawlessly. Here's the widget I use - DTS widget Skynet Software.
To be honest I've found it from this forum.
Share your experience as I might have missed something.
P.S Somehow the power button won't lock the screen now but I don't use it at all anyway, so no problem to me..
P.S.2 I would have bought another LG phone if only they have kept the IR Blaster but that's another story..

Same, I only like double-tap to wake on my phones without fingerprint sensors. On my mate 10 and Xiaomis, whether front or back, I am prone to using the fingerprint sensors, and they bypass the lock screen too.
Of course, it's a nice feature to have that doesn't drain battery, all my phones, except Huawei, have dt2w.
