Windows USB Driver for US998 ? - LG V30 Questions & Answers

Can anyone point to LG download URL for Windows USB driver for US998U (unlocked open market) ?
(Not a third-party URL like mobileusbdrivers.com/2017/10/lg-v30-usb-drivers-download.html , I already found that in XDA V30 forum.)
I found the LG driver on support page for H930DS, but not sure it will work for US998U:
http://www.lg.com/in/support/support-mobile/lg-LGH930DS
The US998U LG support page does not offer software including USB driver:
http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-US998U-Unlocked
Want to make sure the correct USB driver for US998U will install in my ancient Windows XP machine before buying a US998U. (XP support is disappearing...)
TIA...

I used LGMobileDriver_WHQL_Ver_4.2.0.exe, universal LG drivers. Straight from LG website.
Or you can download supposedly model specific:
Go here.
http://www.lg.com/us/support/software-firmware-drivers
In "Search by Model", type in US998U and scroll down to US998 Unlocked.

If the "universal LG drivers" work for you, then they work. Can you advise direct link to LG source? (LG website is a tangled mess of unnecessarily complicated *%^$#@ that apparently doesn't work correctly with all browsers and the information architecture is screwed up.)
I'd appreciate getting the universal drivers, because the installation process for the model-specific drivers does not give me confidence that they will work, either with respect to Windows XP support or US998 model. (There is nothing that states Windows XP supported, and the LG process requires bloatware installation to select, download, and install USB drivers, where the selection process is somewhat unclear - does one select the carrier-unlocked US998U by selecting "USA" in the mandatory "Carrier" selection?)
Thanks!

Oh, I thought you wanted specific US998 drivers. OK, I'll try to find the link to the universal drivers.
Yes, the LG websites are a mess.

You will be downloading LGMobileDriver_WHQL_Ver_4.2.0.exe -- unless LG updates that to a newer version.

Thanks again.
I just want USB driver clearly identified as correct for my version of Windows, to connect to US998U carrier-unlocked V30. Whether a universal driver or specific, I don't care, as long as there is enough info to have confidence it will work with the phone if I buy it.
This would seem to be such a simple, common sense thing, commonly sought by customers, that LG would naturally make it available, with a simple, direct website that just works across all the common browsers, and simple download/install system. But no...

I think the easiest way is to use flashtool to install the drivers (if in win 8 google installing unsigned drivers)

I already disabled unsigned driver installations My main machine is win7, but I'm out of town on business and stuck using my lappy which is win8.
What in the ****? It is going to take around 2 hours to download from these **** hosts... Haven't these guys ever heard of Google Drive, Dropbox, SkyDrive or even Mega?

Unfortunately:
Is ok though, I'm sticking a folder on my gDrive that contains all the files/tools needed in order to do this. It'll be a little bit before everything is there, but the folder is located at: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B25BbZxm93S9V2JQVVlrNUNfQTg&usp=sharing
I'm also adding all the aosp sounds for people who are staying on gpe but still want to access all the sounds available on aosp (Stock gpe selection is pathetic).
It'll be probably at least 3 or 4 hours before everything is there though.

I may have just had a weird experience, but I think FlashTool is able to use drivers without them actually being installed. At least the adb ones were not actually installed when I tried to do logcat , I had to go through device manager to update drivers then navigate to FlashTool folder and install them.

Apparently flashtool is on github, which makes their choice of hosts even more fishy considering that you can host the downloads on github itself... but looky what I found here: https://github.com/Androxyde/Flashtool/tree/master/drivers/FASTBOOT/Sony
All necessary files have been added to the Google Drive folder here:

I may write a little bit better and more detailed guide for people in my specific position once I have cm11 up and running.

I know it will be better to do for all partitions, but I must first learn how to use some disassembler, then what i look for and so on.
I see messed up picture instead logo, so there is big chances to recover phone. Flashing kdz write system, kernel, recovery, etc. and (now) logo (without properly logo-no boot).
Anyway, dont hurt if try.

If it's not getting in Emergency and not powering on and if you plug in Ubuntu and do lsusb in Terminal and there is GOBI MODEM it's a hard brick.

Unable to find phone in Emergency or Recovery mode during KDZ flashing

Hello friends of XDA, i'm here to ask you help once again! This time the problem is about a mysteriuos p760 aka LG Optimus L9. The problems in which i came across is the unlocking the bootloader and installing a custom recovery.
I tried so many ways that i'm really out of resources and ideas... Here few screenshots of the phone informations from setting app:

I am using Windows 8.1U3 on an Alienware 17.
I'll try to explain as fast and clearly i can:
First i read about this thread and it simply didn't worked (wow totally unexpected thanks to my fortune (Y)).
Then i thought i could easily flash some KDZ with unlocked bootloader and a sparky CWM built in, so i've google a little around and i found this and I then tried to flash the
with this guide but here the fun begun! No matter how i installed drivers, rebooted the system, tried in recovery mode or S/W Mode, the software did not see any phone at all; on the contrary the device manager sees it clearly and install correctly the drivers.
After posting the errors i found an answer a month later in the same thread.
This guys advices to use this tool instead, but as you can guess from me writing here, it did not work.
Then googling again i found this guide where you can install a CWM without even unlocking the bootloader! So, hey, i just need the root!
So let's go finding some way to root this F device (may LG go bankrupt now)! Again i googled "root p760/l9/optimus/plslgdie" and i found few ways none of them working. The Saurik one tells me that there is no bug available to exploit, the Chinese all-in-one rooter seems not having any green button and other script based on adb simply do not find the phone!
Of course i've tried a lot of cables and computers, all of them not working (still i need to try another OS....) and i'm going crazy. Only another device drove me crazy like that (the e610 aka L5 - wow this too was totally unexpcted!) but i finally found a ways to solve.
Please help me to delete every single line of code LG compiled in this device, please!
Up! Halp pls!

It's hard to say. I remember some people told me that windows 8 have problems with l9 driver. I don't want to say that you can reinstall drivers, because I'm sure you did it a few times. You can always install windows 7 but it's derp idea (of course if you want, you can do it). Did you try to run official LG recovery program and try to install from it?

[Guide] Change firmware-region

Initially I was looking for a guide to change the firmware and region of my IRAN H870DS
Android version 7
patch date 1 genuary 2018
baseband
MPSS.TH.2.0.1.c3.1-00018-M08996FAAAANAZM-1.115847.1.116165.1
kernel version
3:18:31
build number
NRD90U
SW version
lg v10s-AME-XX
REGION IRN - IRAN
Reading (for hours) various sources at the end I have guessed that the activity is simple and clean.
I managed to flash the HKG firmware with Oreo on my H870DS IRAN with sw version v10s-AME-XX
I've download new preferred H870DS firmware from this site
https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-h870ds-firmwares/firmwares/
Obviously the kdz file must be for the same model you have.
FIRST
Download LGUP and install it
https://www.mylgphones.com/download-lg-up-software
SECOND
Download LGIP_common.dll
https://www.mylgphones.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/LGUP_common.zip
extract and save it in the path
C: \ Program Files (x86) \ LG Electronics \ LGUP \ model \ common
THIRD
download and extract UPPERCUT
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/development/uppercut-lgup-loader-g5-variants-t3511295
FOURTH
Start exe of uppercut, it'll start LGUP.... meanwhile it is starting connect the phone to the USB of PC.
THEN...
As soon as LGUP recognizes the mobile phone, you have to go to the lower section of the program:
a) activate voice "upgrade"
b) click on the "File Path" space of the first line, then on the button "..."
c) link the file kdz you have downloaded and want flash and press "start" button....
I have already flashed two firmware (HKG DSU and TWN DS and returned on HKG DSU) on my H870DS IRN stopped on Nougat ... and in all cases it works great.
UPDATE - PAY ATTENTION!!!!
on the occasion of the last transition to another region I've bricked my G6.
I downloaded from the linked site to download the various kdz of the various regions, in the name was specific to lg-h870ds, but in reality it was for the LG-h870.
Even if he made the flash via uppercut, the smartphone went into the brick and remains stationary to the logo "LG THINKQ" without giving me any chance of recovery through the known operations.
So, my guide works and is safe if you're sure to flash the correct firmware for lg-h870ds !!!
DISCALIMER: I do not take responsibility for any damage or problems to your mobile phone. everything you do on your mobile phone will be under your full responsibility... if you'll brick it, damn yourself please
I recommend that you choose the firmware to be installed very carefully
and do not forget to download the firmware you have already installed first, checking it in the software info in the phone
is there any way to do the same with H870S?

Hi,
As described in original post I'm newbie..
I've read for more hours all result in google I've found about this situation..... Then i've tryed my way and it works fine.
So maybe I'm lucky choosing file...
V10s-AME-XX
Once changed the software region, do we recieve OTA updates in the future? I´m downloading, H870DS20b_00_OPEN_HK_DS_OP_0713.kdz, but I know that exist the H870DS20c_00_OPEN_HK_DS_OP_0725.kdz
In case of DANGER, do you have the link to the original AME kdz firmware?
Thanks for your work!
Nope, no ota afger this procedure. The Ota goes with imei, but I think there's a conflict after this procedue between imei and firmware...
But you can update by lgup and uppercut the next firmware you'llwant
H870DS
You have the even more updated version (20c firmware, 2018/8/4) for Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore regions, in mylgphones.com.
Hi, yes thx.
I've flashed it now with my procedure. I think it has updated security patch only this time... Infact I see DS2 as region like it was before.
Ps. Sorry for my english. I hope you can understand what i mean

Yes, i think It's the same procedure, but you have to download and flash the 870s firmware of your preferred region. Mind the exact name of the file downloaded before you flash it
Are the steps also applicable for LG Wing?
Can we install any region firmware on LG Wing also? Anyone knows?

I dont think so. I tried to flash TUR over ZAF and got error before the process start.

Can't flash firmware with SPFT on MT8163v chipset. Error: S_FT_ENABLE_DRAM_FAIL (4032)

I have an android managed device with mt8163v chipset. It's from a big company, and it's custom built so there is no brand name or model. It has a slimmed down settings menu, and is highly restricted, so I'm unable to turn on USB debugging.
The hardware is decent and I'd like to be able to use the tablet...
Downloading apps to the device for rooting etc.. is not an option. It's not connected to the internet or any provider.
I have successfully got the device to talk with sp flash tool. I downloaded the scatter file from here
However, after about 45 seconds I keep getting the error S_FT_ENABLE_DRAM_FAIL (4032)
My guess is that the scatter file is incompatible with the device? I just want to completely flash the firmware, I don't need to keep anything on the device currently. Does anyone know how I may be able to create a scatter file without usb debugging enabled?
Or ANY other solution that may allow me to get past this brick wall??? Thanks!

My guess is this error is because PRELOADER inside flash that you want to flash is not compatible with your phone.

Would you mind elaborating? I'm a bit new to this realm of tech. When you say the "Preloader inside flash" that I want to flash, what exactly are you referring to? The scatter file? Because there's only two options in sp flash tools that I'm aware of:
1.) Download-agent
2.) Scatter-loading File
Are you referring to either of these?
Also, when you say "download correct firmware" are you referring to the scatter file as well?
And please note that as I mentioned in OP, this device doesn't have a brand. It is custom built for a company to be secure. They only used it for in-house stuff and updated it via a company kiosk. Therefor, I can't just download firmware etc from any manufacturer.
Is there any generic/stock firmware for this chipset that will just override whatever is already there?
If there is any way for me beat this thing, please point me in any direction that may be helpful.
I have considering connecting via UART, as I can clearly see exposed uart pins on the board. Any other ideas greatly appreciate as to where I should move from here.

Okay thanks, interesting read. So, I guess what I need is to be able to extract the firmware that is already on the device, and hence creating a new scatter file? The problem with this is that I can't seem to find a method for doing this without enabling usb debugging, which I'm unable to do.
Are there any drivers / methods that would allow me to communicate with the device using adb / fastboot that don't require usb debugging to be enabled?
Also, is it possible that firmware for some other device that uses this chipset may work? If so, I'll start downloading all the mt8163v firmware I can find and see if any versions work... Thanks again.
You may try this method to root your phone and if it was successful you make the relevant changes to Android's system file named buid.prop.

Can't install apps on the device.... That's kinda part of the premise of this whole thing.
