Hello everyone,
I've been trying to set up a VPN connection to my work for my TFP using IPsec/l2tp PSK. But each time I try to connect it just reboots.
I got the catlog through adb while connecting to the VPN server for debug:
pastebin dot com/Le2Nrjkr
I read many other threads on similar problems and it is not just the TFP that has this issue. If anyone can understand the log and shed some light as to why this happens I'd be eternally greatful, as the VPN (RDP) was my main reason for purchasing this tablet.
Nobody has this problem or recognizes this as a MAJOR bug?
Dont tell me to use OpenVPN cause I can't tell my boss to pay for a service which was already supposed to work when buying a 600 euro tablet.
I already tried to manually load tun.ko, ah4.ko, xfrm_user.ko, xfrm4_mode_tunnel.ko, md4.ko, ipip.ko, iforce.ko, ff-memless.ko and cifs.ko kernel modules. But still doesn't work.
Yep, I'm seeing this too. I posted in the general section by accident and my post was deleted. I've raised a PureVPN ticket. Will report back if anything is found.
Sorry that i have no input regarding your problem but i also want to buy this tablet and i need to check if vpnc works on this thing. Can someone with root download from market "Vpnc" and inside the app press "check prerequisites" and post back the result. Thank you very much.
mdalacu, can't help I'm afraid as my device isn't rooted. Try creating a new thread.
I've contacted ASUS support too, and will update the thread with any new info.

Here is what it says for me on rooted TFP.
"Running tests...
Warning: 'Advanced Routing' feature missing - VPN connectivity might be lost after a while
But VPNC Widget should work limited on this phone"
But ofcourse, I'm the one with the broken VPN issue
Thank you for you answer, now i am more confused as before... should i buy or not... my instinct tells me to wait for a new Samsung tablet but i have a terrible itch ... i will go insane...

Thx, but I don't think the people at PureVPN will be able to help you/us as this is an android issue and not a purevpn issue.
Plus, I want to connect to a Win2008 vpn-machine at work, not a vpn server in another country...
Alternatively, since I use the 3G connection on my HTC Desire as wifi hotspot, can I connect to the VPN server with my Desire and have the TFP connected with wifi going through that vpn tunnel?
It's only a solution via 3G and not public wifi, but I'll take what I can get untill a permanent fix is found.
Anyone know how to do this?
update: I've been playing with the routing tables and iptables -I FORWARD ACCEPT but still no luck. Maybe I missed something?
Anyone else got experience with this?
PureVPN told me to try PPTP, but that didn't work. Still waiting to hear from ASUS.

Maybe that's why Asus didn't ship the VPN/IPsec modules by default?
Seems like they did their homework and removed support for broken features, before they ship them

Didn't know what they were (was a module pack from the forum), so better to load than not i thought
I currently got a ssh-tunnel/rdp solution going with ConnectBot port-forwarding, but I'm still searching for a decent solution.

Yeah, and perform a nice clean re-boot if you try and use the non-existant features!
I've just received a reply from ASUS. Essentially they are asking me to do a data wipe to see if that solves the problem. Given that I did a complete factory reset prior to trying VPN I'm fairly sure that this won't solve anything and leave me to re-download all my apps.
Has anyone actually managed to get L2TP working on this device?
No L2TP here, but I can report that the built-in PPTP does work fine.

Which provider do you use? I couldn't get PPTP to work with PureVPN
Same here - can't get L2TP/IPSec-VPN to work. Just reboots after entering username and password.
Where did you open ticket with Asus?

At Asus.com. They got back to me after I said I wouldn't do a data wipe and told me they would try and reproduce it.
This is just an update: I was told told by ASUS they'd release a new firmware this weekend, and that this issue should be solved with it.
Howdy,
I'm having problems with NFC I have not been able to solve with hours of googling and thought someone may have run into the same issues before. I am trying to program an NFC tag, but my phone doesn't detect the tag or my Nexus 7 tablet (which detects the tags just fine). I'm running the latest Venom ROM and also just did a Factory Reset and reflashed the ROM to no avail. I tried taking off my case, cleaning the contacts on the back cover, holding the tag all around the camera where the hardware is supposed to be and I don't get anything. I have one of the special NFC-enabled SIMs as well, not that that should matter as I haven't tried the ISIS app yet. The tags are NTAG203s. Anyone ever run into something like this?
Just chiming in and letting you know that I have had NFC issues with the Verizon version since the KitKat update...

Glad I'm not the only one, thanks for your reply... out of curiosity are you running stock? I neglected to mention I'm running a Viper ROM but I'm sure there would be more complaints if there was an issue with the ROM.
Fixed!
Hate to respond so late but I figured I would just in case it helps someone-- turned out to be an 1D10T error. I was able to locate a setting in the Viper ROM settings that I was unaware of (Viper Tweaks App --> Misc --> NFC Restrictions). I switched the option to no restrictions and I can now use my NFC tags. Just a tap and I connect to the guest WiFi at work and launch my VPN
Oops never saw your response. Was all stock. I'm about to sell the device. Resetting and will test one last time.
Hello,
after updating to Nougat i have noticed that my bluetooth turns itself off sometimes, som days just one time but some days up to five times.
i notice it because i have a android wear watch.
I did a clean update, i'm rooted but with slightly modified kernel, ran the script that adds back drm and twrp.
Tried to exclude bluetooth from powersave settings, and also android wear, but it still disables itself sometimes.
i do not have the stamina mode enabled.
Does anyone have the same problem?

try these:
Add bluetooth share to battery optimisation, but try adding unrestricted traffic aswell
also, the bluetooth time out for scanning in build properties is set to 120s as default
Thanks, i already had bluetooth share excluded in my battery optimization. i'll try the traffic thing.

if you have any VPN or Adguard, make sure it doesn't route bluetooth share traffic...
ANT HAL is another thing to look at aswell

Oh, I for got to mention, when I was first testing Bluetooth when the Z5C launched, I found Mirror service would create a bluetooth connection to paired devices, without authority, if this happens, normal bluetooth functions are lost because the device cannot create a new connection while the other one is active.
As a result, one of the first apps I disable when I flash is Mirror Link Service: com.sonymobile.mirrorlink.server11
it'll poll, connect, try to link the available services, and if there is no match for service type, it forgets to remove the connection.
it happens to bluetooth pairing with notebooks - because there is no "Audio Unit/Head"
I had a post about it on the Sony forums, and I think the CManagers gave feedback to the devs.
if you have any cast or screen mirror shortcuts enabled for display in quick settings, move them in to the unused drawer when you edit. anything appearing in any of the pages for quick settings will keep that app's service alive
Does anyone helse have problems with BLE/smart bluetooth on Nougat? Since the upgrade I've not been able to add my bluetooth heart rate strap.

Not sure but some people are reporting they can't connect to WiFi on the February update so it's possible there could also be a connectivity problem as well.
The Pixel 6 February update is breaking Wi-Fi for some (Updated: Fix coming)
Google has rolled out the February 2022 update for the Pixel 6 series, but some users are reporting broken Wi-Fi connectivity.
www.androidauthority.com
My wifi is fine.
Looks like the February update breaks smart lock??
Mine works P6 US Unlocked

wifi seems to be fine but most of the time im outside so mobile data is my go to atm. it drop from 5g to lte and them to E/no connection at all
My Wi-fi is broken. I have opened separated thread to try to find a solution. I don't recommend installing February update for now!
stating my experience: i couldn't get the udpate to install OTA or via sideload, so i flashed the factory image using google's online method with no ill side effects (smart lock, 4G/5G, wifi all working)
Update available. In setting tick check for update to get it.
Seems to fix Wi-Fi issue OK
I have Smart Lock set to auto unlock when my watch is paired via Bluetooth. After a few hours I've noticed that it stops working and all the options under Smart Lock are missing.
If I reboot, everything works fine again for another few hours and then the same thing happens again.
Any ideas?

Can't say for sure but the problem seems to have gone away with April update from Samsung. Previous to this update I was experiencing the same thing. I would go into security settings/other/trust agents and toggle smart lock off then on again and it would work basically the rest of the day. Updated to Samsung April software and it hasn't happened yet (today).

I'm running the latest April software and funnily enough that is when the issue started for me. It was fine before that update.

It appears to be a Google issue, so hopefully it gets worked out soon. I really only pay attention to it at work when my Buds are connected, but I'm pretty sure It was only happening after March Google Services update and before April Samsung update.

God this is annoying
On my error report to Samsung (Members app) I received a reaction that
- multiple reports have been made
- Smart Lock is a Google application
- They reported the issue to Google
- Apparently it was/is a flag error in a Google server
- it should be good now after a restart.
I have the same issue.
