[Surnia] Please help, LTE connectivity issue (radio problem)? - E 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay so I've been rooting/flashing for maybe a year but only have practice on xt1526 Boost variant so I'm still green. Also I haven't had a computer to work with in a while either.
So my problem is every time I get a phone call, even if I don't answer my "service bars" will bounce between 0 and full (and everything in between) non-stop. The only fix I've came up with is a power cycle then I have to wait 1-5 minutes before my speed will stabilize. I have flashed zips like lte fix and others like in the past. This issue has been ongoing for a while I have a suspicion it has to do with the radio. If it is you should assume I have no pc. If it can't be helped i can access one but if possible I will use otg and terminal. I saw the radio installation said to use .bat files and Idk if I can use them or bypass on my device. Thanks ahead of time for the help. This is my first post but I've been creeping this site since the beginning. This aspiring android enthusiast thanks all of you!!

Titan GPS "Fix" - USE AT YOUR OWN RISK

THIS THREAD IS OUTDATED. aGPS SOLUTIONS NOW EXIST FOR ALMOST ALL CARRIERS.
VERIZON USERS SHOULD USE THIS LINK FOR NEW INSTRUCTIONS:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=VerizonAGPSFix
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Below is a link to the "fix" we've been working on for the Titan GPS.
We've gotten mixed results with the testing thus far. Some who have NEVER been able to achieve a lock have gotten locks within 30 seconds. Some say they don't see any change.
I must reiterate though that this "fix" is not something that works wonders. It merely helps the current situation. People who have trouble getting an initial fix, people who don't see locks for 5-10 minutes, etc may see improvement with this. Since I've applied it, I've noticed consistent initial locks taking anywhere between 30-60 seconds on Verizon. I'm happy with that for now. If you apply the fix and don't see any improvement, it doesn't necessarily mean that it doesn't work, as others are seeing results. Unfortunately, we've been unable to determine why this happens.
You still have to use the same steps as you normally would for using the GPS. This does not negate the act of priming it or using a launcher. Do everything as you normally would after you apply the fix.
The Titan GPS, though functional, will NEVER be able to function like it does for Sprint customers. Until other carriers provide access to a PDE aGPS server, there will always be hardships for the customers. No amount of hacking, fixing, or upgrading can remedy this.
THIS FIX IS NOT INTENDED FOR SPRINT
THIS FIX WILL PERSIST THROUGH FLASHES OF ROM/RADIO.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK - I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING YOU DO TO YOUR DEVICE

I successfully completed this procedure on Vista64 SP1 without issue.
Now I just need to go outside and see if I get a better fix!
Thanks GC for a great and simple tutorial.

if this is supposed to do what we Sprint users have, then you shouldn't even need to go outside . I wish you the best of luck.
im gonna try it on my xv6800 in a few.
backing up right now...
edit: just did it and WOW! on a cold boot, it connected to my exact position wiht 4 sats without even shifting. all in 38 seconds (timed it). by far the fastest ive ever gotten in my house. soft reset and went outside, and got an exact lock in 5 SECONDS! holy christ, gc you are the man.
Thanks!
GC, I will try this as soon as i get home from work and report results. God I can hardly work waiting to do this.
Problem
GC, trying the fix now. I've downloaded all of the required apps.
Just for reference, I'm using:
DCD 3.1.2 ROM w/ Radio 3.39, w/ provider: Verizon
I just tried:
Put the phone in DMR Mode by dialing ##3424 and pressing send, or dialing ##3424# (depends on carrier). ActiveSync will disconnect, and the PC should recognize the phone as an HTC USB Modem and will install the drivers.
Both options, whether ##3424 and hit the green phone button...or ##3424# failed to open DMR mode for me. All I receive are a response by Verizon indicating that The phone number either disconnected, is no longer in service. etc.
I'll look around for another option. (This is similar with trying to access the options by calling to change how often the radio toward is checked for calls...I had to go directly into Windows and click ePST )
Are you using a third party dialer? If so, **** can it.
Also, reinstall the verizon carrier cab.
Right
I used the fix for SPB Pocket Plus that would make the Dialer continually pop up by installing a similar dialer I downloaded. (fixes the problem).
Should I proceed to reinstall the Cab from Verizon, or entirely discontinue the process?
I'm glad I'm not the only one that is not content with the GPS mode...from a cold start, 10 minutes can be average.
Looks good.
Thanks for the easy tutorial, went smoothly and I think it is a bit better. Edit: I know it is better, I just connected inside work where I never could connect before.
I notice that using TomTom I always before had No GPS signal for about 10 seconds, then it would say waiting for a valid GPS signal for another 10 seconds to three minutes or so, sometimes not at all until reboot. When I did it after the update it said No GPS for about five seconds and went straight to "lost gps signal 4 seconds ago". The longest it took to connect was 10 seconds after five tries (longest was after pressing the power button while in the program then waking it up...go figure).
Will you be able to integrate these drivers into the new builds for DCD? Or will we need to do this as the drivers are released.
Just out of curiosity, I know these aren't Verizon drivers, what provider are they ripped from? Will this be something that will be possible to update as new drivers are released?
Sorry for all the questions, another solid release guys.
BTW - Is anyone using HTC GPS on their phones when they applied this fix? Does HTC GPS even have an impact?

Whatever dialer or dialer fix you're using is preventing ## codes. You need to go back to the stock dialer you installed from the kitchen, then reinstall the carrier cab. After that, start over. (You don't have to reinstall the wmodem drivers or qpst)
Will we need to redo this process after a flash or hard reset, or do changes stick?

Verizon 6900 Results
I performed the fix on my 6900 and it seemed to get locks quicker after a few soft resets. Not sure if it's placebo yet but will let it run for a few days.
I'm also seeing more sats locked. Not sure the why, but I was normally seeing 5-6 at my desk and I'm seeing 8 now.
thanks I may try this when a working PC comes back...
But what exactly does this change on the phone?
Also is it possible that settings from a Sprint phone (PDE and all) could be mirrored into QPST for a Verizon phone?
I did this fix before I flashed to 3.1.6. After flashing, I connected it to check, and all the boxes are still checked.
So I believe it survives a flash
Great Job guys! GPS is locking on in under 10s now it seems!
Doesn't seem to do much for me, the lock isn't any quicker. By, the way, to get into DMR mode without the keycodes look for DM-Router in the windows directory.
not much luck. still took almost 1.5 minutes. I'm not concerned but I'm going to check it again in a while just too see if i can get a faster lock later on tonight
Thanks for the work and continued support for this community
verizon 6800
thanks sooo much gc14 and dcd. you guys are great!
i was the one who started the original thread about this issue, and this fix has helped tremendously! it still took about ~1.5 minutes, but it was a bit cloudy and it was the first lock since upgrading to dcd 3.1.6.
awesome work though! i can't wait till verizon gets some gps servers up and running (i have a friend that works fro verizon and he swears that verizon is releasing their official rom soon, w/ gps enabled so i'd assume their launching some sort of gps server. who knows though, verizon makes lot of promises). we can only hope!
as of now, this fix works just fine for me, so thank you both very much!
GREAT!
Wow man this was an excellent fix for the gps.. when i used the HTC GPS tool, it took maybe minute or more to lock with GPSMODE=4, with this fix, it also took about a minute still.. So i changed GPSMODE back to 2 and did a softreset... wow, it locked like in 10 sec.. never before in my house it did that!! one up for this fix!

Hero network bug

Hello everybody,
I own an Orange-FR branded Hero, and it get often disconnected, but doesn't seem to "know" that. The network bars stay stuck, and the "H" is displayed, as if there was a 3G connection.
I still can use Wifi (and enable/disable it), but cannot disable 3G/GSM network, not even going into "plane" mode. The only way to get out of there is to reboot the phone.
Looks like a radio bug for me...
Any ideas ?
Thanks
Yup. Which radio version are you running?
And, are you running the phone stock or with a custom ROM. If custom, try flashing the latest radio (read up on it before doing so though, as some people manage to brick their phones by not reading the instructions)- ie. don't pull the battery out, just let it do its thing.
Hello, thank you for your answer.
The phone is like new, I didn't try to update the OS neither the radio, because of the warranty...
My radio version is 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18.
I'm aware of the flash methods, as I often updated my P3300 with roms found right here
Hello there,
still have the problem, seems it's happening 24h after each reboot of the phone, but sometimes less.
By looking at the message log with the OSMonitor application, I get a lot of "rmnet fifo full, dropping packet", and the time shown in the messages is wrong (near 5h20 instead of 22h40)
Thanks for your help.
Got a new phone from Orange (with a crappy customized rom).
Same problem
what does orange say about the problem?
Hi,
each ppl I could talk to told me a different thing.
Sometimes they say it's because i'm moving to another cell (aren't they joking? it's the way GSM works...), someone told me it was because of a "localisation" problem. Another time my file was "stuck" or sent to a wrong service...
I don't think they have any return on experience about this phone.
probably it is just sales bull**** they are told to say to you...
it's guys from level2 support, that's worrying
They change my phone tomorrow... again...
i sometimes have a similar problem, phone gets stuck on 3g network and only shows as uploading data, i think it might have something to do with facebook sync. i haven't had this problem for a long time now but back in the day it used to happen alot
third phone, same problem
i don't use facebook sync
Same Problem
I was having the same problem, especially when it came to 3g / wireless usage - the phone would suddenly lose all connection to the masts but be unaware of it.
My solution so far is to downgrade the radio - the latest one is the worst for it, I'm using 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.08.29 at the moment and a lot more stable than before...
(using Villains 5.2 rom)

yes I have been getting this issue too.
It uploads data on 3g but doesn't download. I found what appears to be a temporary fix for this issue but it comes back every now and again. I think it is an issue with Orange/Tmobile cell towers.
thanks for your replies,
i'm using the 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.08.29 radio
is there other radio firmwares available ?
thanx

The one listed in my sig is the latest (and arguably the best) radio.
OMG they locked the recovery mode
im on orange and have no problems? To be honest when you talk to them they read from a script, noone there actually knows anything! just searching through a database kinda like windows help and support. If the problem is continuing with new phones id say its your cell area
I have the problem everywhere in the country, they changed the phone, they changed the sim (i'm trying another one right now), ...
That's what makes me think of a network problem.
Whenever you speak to them about issues like this always ask to speak to "high technical team"
They are the only ones that know anything and won't read of a script. They are usually very very helpful as well (or at least are in the UK)

[Q] Restart superuser?

Hi all,
First, a bit of phone history. I rooted my phone before 4.4 and my sole purpose of rooting was to have the WIFI tether app working since I use my iPad at work and wanted to be able to connect to the internet there using my phone. I didn't care about custom ROMS, since I really don't have the customizing curiosity most of you have with totally overhauling my phone. (I'm getting old, I think, heh)
So it was working fine all summer and then about 2 months ago after I said to myself, "Hey, I wouldn't mind having fastboot turned on again", my phone got stuck in a horrid bootloop. It took about 5 hours of rebooting and swearing for it to finally give me any access to the bootloader.
When I was able to do anything to the phone, in a panic, I simply did a factory reset.
It actually went well. Though I had to do it twice for it to go smoothly. Now my phone runs much smoother. (Even though I don't do custom ROMS, I do install a ton of interface tweaks from the App Store. And yes, I pay for them) Also the battery lasts a LOT longer.
Now the bad news. My bootloaded shows I'm tampered and unlocked, but my superuser must be broken and nothing on the phone shows I'm rooted. Root required apps won't work and apps to check if I'm rooted say I'm not.
WIFI tether of course also doesn't work but that's not the problem I'm asking you all about.
The REAL problem is my 3G/4G radios seem to be broken. What I mean is if I set my phone to be LTE/CDMA the phone will switch back and forth every couple minutes between the two regardless of signal strength leaving the connection gone while it keeps switching back and forth. If I leave it on CDMA only, my connection is fine, except of course I'm on 3G which is slow. (duh) This problem occurs anywhere. The same at work or at home 20 miles away, which I assume uses a different tower.
Yesterday my boss at work got a new Galaxy 5 and asked my to help him set it up. We are both on Sprint and work in a factory which causes the 4G to be quite slow inside, but I promptly installed speedtest and ran it on both his phone and mine (I turned my 4G back on for the test) He scored a 22 Mbps while I scored a .5 Mbps.
Yikes! I guess my radio really is broken.
Can anyone help me to get this phone going in either direction? Either fully rooted with the radio and WIFI tether fixed or even backwards going unrooted stock with the radios fixed?
I'm heading out right now so can't reply right away, so forgive me if I can't answer any questions until later tonight.
Thanks in advance!
p.s. I'm fairly knowledgeable with computers and can follow most rooting guides without hand-holding, though I admit some of the Rooting process is beyond my grasp since I'm not really into the developing mindset.
Yikes, 24 views and no replies. I thought I might have been too long winded . ?
I should have just posted this; Help, I'm unlocked but my superuser isn't working
?
Hello, I am by all means no expert and i had seen this and figured one of those would come here and help you but it seems everyone may be busy for the holidays. Kidding aside, if it were mine and this happened what I would do is flash a custom recovery like TWRP and then it will tell you you are not rooted and then you can install supersu from there. There may be other ways or easier ways to accomplish what you need but this is the method that I personally would try. I know just enough to get myself in and out of basic situations but I do believe this will work for you. Maybe one of the more knowledgeable folks will chime in with some better advise. Good luck and let us know if you get it sorted.
Bryon
Thanks Byron, I'll give it a try after work, don't want to screw up my phone right before I need it.
I still haven't tried it yet, I want to wait until I'm off for the holidays to blow up my phone

Never seen this before.

My Verizon XT912 has done some strange things over the last few days. Firstly, when we went in to upgrade another phone, my service was interrupted about every 10 seconds or so, switching between 4g to 3g to no service and the only way to get it back was to restart the phone. Even then, the phone would only get signal for a few minutes, ultimately resulting in no service. Now, even on the stock rom, will not display a signal in an area where all of our other phones display full 4g signal (I have the triangle outline with the crossed circle) and the phone restarts when any app is selected, or even when left alone. I personally think something failed on the motherboard. What do you think?
I have the same phone and am having the same problem. I am pretty damn good with phones and have had a long time to mess with this one so know it pretty well. I have had this problem before and was able to fix it using RSD although I had to try many times. I tried a ton of different things and in the end have no idea what fixed it. I highly doubt it is a hardware problem, as when I fixed it the first time the phone was much faster than it had been in a long time. I am convinced it has to do with roms/partitions and the way the stock rom is flashed to it through fastboot. Right now I am once again for the 4th time stuck with this problem and when/if I come up with a better answer for you and other people I will make a thread with all the details I have about this specific problem and how to fix it because there are a lot. One thing I know is that anytime I have had this problem SU of any kind had serious issues, no matter what app (Superuser/SuperSU), or rom, or slot I was using, hence the theory it isn't inherently hardware related... that and the fact that I fixed it twice months ago, a couple days ago, and am stuck on it now. I hope to have some more info for you and everyone else on this soon as I haven't been able to find ANYTHING related to this so far after many many many hours of searching. If you or anyone else has anymore info on this or that might in some way help with this please post it here. I will be watching this thread for a while.

S5 The Galaxy Project Issues

Before going into detail, I feel the need to say that I am a complete noob but I can understand most technical procedures. That being said..
I had a S5 from Metro PCS (SM-G900T1). I attempted to root this thing and couldn't successfully do it so I flashed the latest firmware for T-Mobile. My phone is now SM-G900T. Within both these points, I still didn't experience any issues.
When I successfully rooted my phone, I installed the latest ROM version of The Galaxy Project. Since then, I've been experiencing 3 issues.
1.) My 4G and LTE have been switched to H, H+ and 4G. I can't switch it back by restarting my phone, changing VPNs and changing connection types. More importantly, I don't know if my service has been downgraded. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.
2.) My phone keeps sending random service reports. There's no way for me to check out why as they happen really quickly. Is there a way to disable this or at least check out the reason why?
3.) lastly, this is a minor issue and I don't care much for it but I can't access my themes without my phone saying that TouchWiz has crashed. Nothing happens after this and my phone is fully usable but I'd still like to explore everything since this is my first custom ROM.. Any help at all is greatly appreciated.
Edit 1: It appears that the H+ and 4G are equivalent to LTE speeds but slightly slower. I have tried to coax the changsetting by tweaking the build settings but no luck. Also a new issue has become a problem for me.
After a while of no use or after charging, the screen becomes unresponsive. The power button works but I cannot restart/turn off my phone and it requires me to pull the battery every time.
Try another ROM to see if the problem goes away. I suggest you give this a try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/development/rom-popwiz-telstra-note-5-port-v3-0-t3265997
