Tab S3 broken sd/sim card tray in slot - Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Questions & Answers

I bought a used international Tab S3 with a broken sd/sim card tray stucked inside the tray slot. Previous owner had taken it in to a cell phone store hoping they can help but no go. I sent it in to an authorized Samsung repair center but they won't touch it because it is an international version. Anybody have any idea to pull this broken tray out?

Do you have a photo? Needle-nose pliers?

No photo yet. But the SD card slot is real small. Needle nose plier is out of the question. The only thing that will fit into that slot is a sewing needle.

Tweezers then?
There are 'phone repair tool kits' out there that provide a whole bunch of tools to disassemble phones/tablets. Perhaps you could take it apart to better get to the SD card slot to push the broken piece out? There are some youtube videos on how to breakdown and reassemble Samsung tablets and phones (I didn't see any specific to the Tab S3 but how different could it be?).

Try a hoover, something with a bit of sucking power.

[Help]Sim Slot pin broke down

Hi, today while inserting sim card(with some force ofcourse as it was not going in easily), sim card stuck there and after half an hour hard work, I was able to pull the sim out. After that everytime I inserted the sim, phones says no Sim Card
I figured out that one of the sim slot pin is broke and its not properly making any contact with the part of sim.
So, I wanted to know if anybody faces the same issue and whether they have contacted the Sony Service center and any estimation of cost to be incurred in repair.
Or anyone got their phone repaired by simply soldering the Sim Slot on the motherboard as when I disassembled the phone, I found that the sim slot is soldered on the motherboard.
Any suggestions???
I guess that you could do this:
1. Resoldering
Remove all the cover. Separate everything from the motherboard.
Desolder the SIM slot. Get a old SIM slot from a old phone(Or just get it somehow). Then Solder it, wait for it the dry and reassemble.
2. Turning the warped contact back.
Do the same steps as step 1. Then use a tweezer and gently twist the contacts back. But be careful, it may end up worse.
3. Give it to Sony
Only do this if it is still under warranty. Replacement of motherboard is very expensive,to the extent you would rather buy a new phone.
They will most likely replace the whole motherboard.. The price of the motherboard is approximately 80% of the whole phone normally. Backup your data first.
Last one
Buy a new phone. But first you must be loaded.
Hope it helps!

SIM card holder issue

For a some reason I had to install cutted(from mini-SIM) card into my phone. It is little bit thicker then tipical microSIM card. Of course I cut it manually, using template. But, during pluging this card I broke push-pull lock of SIM card holder. I mean now I'm not able to pull the SIM from slot by pushing it, like I can do with SD card.
I little bit disassemble the phone(up to see simcard holder) but do not found the way how to fix lock.
So I'm looking for HQ images of working lock and maybe some explanations how it works. I guess metal legs bent, but i'm not sure...

[MOD][WORKLOG] Adding micro sd card to expand memory capacity

Hello all!
I am going to start work on adding a usb micro sd card reader to the nexus 9. I started off by taking off the nexus 9 backplate (very easy, just need a finger nail to get the clips undone) and you are immediately greeted with the internals of the tablet. The first thing I noticed is an indentation for what I believe to be where the micro sim card would go for the LTE version of the tablet, it could also be a place were they were going to put a micro sd expansion slot but may have ruled it out in the end. I also noted that there is some grooves for routing wires down to the micro usb slot, which would definitely make it easier to keep the wires clean looking. the micro sd card adapter I was thinking of using is this one: http://www.amazon.com/elago-Nano-Mo...6610073&sr=1-10&keywords=micro+sd+card+reader
I would end up tripping of the usb connector for the reader and soldering wires straight from the read to the mobo.
Take a look at the pictures enclosed and let me know if you have any suggestions.
Stay tuned! More updates to come!
You beet me to this
I will most likely do this
You're looking to take over the usb connection as OTG? Or?
@minnieman
if your going to use this as an OTG
you will need to have a switch to turn it off

Duely noted.
Nice idea but this is definitly the wrong forum for this. Not Original Android development. This belongs in the general section.
Any progress yet?
Don't know if came across this threads. soldering a micro sd card has been tried before, maybe you can find some useful info here.

This is the (electric) solution.
But with a Tablet....

Quick question op regarding removing the back panel. Were there any issues with the camera coming off as well? In ifixit's tear down they said the camera popped off along with the back panel because it was too snug. I will be taking mines off but have been hesitant because if this.
Hey, any updates on this?

Verizon Galaxy S4 stuck using an external antenna.

So I ordered an external antenna for a USB modem that I use in my home, and I got curious. I attached the adapter to BOTH of the connectors individually to see how my service would improve, and I think it was a mistake.
I get no service whatsoever now. I actually have to put my phone up to the signal booster I have in my phone to get any service at all.
Luckily, I had another S4 and I changed out the motherboards so I didn't have to go without a phone.
I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to restore the functionality of the other motherboard's radio. Even if it means DIYing a solution.
Below is an image of the connectors that I attached the external antenna to. Can anyone help?
It doesn't look good:

You have damaged the connectors inside the antenna socket (very easy to do, as I found out). This has switched off the internal antenna and you have four basic options:
1. If under warranty, return it and hopefully they won't notice you messed it up and replace the motherboard.
2. Rig up a permanent external antenna using copper (or other) wire.
3. Fill the socket with solder to rejoin the connectors and re-enable the internal antenna.
4. If 3. fails, replace or completely remove the antenna socket and solder the transmitter/receiver to the internal antenna on the board (how's your micro-soldering?)
I messed up my 3G antenna, which is in the same position as R1 on your board, but on mine it is labelled L1 and I only have one socket. Your other one is for 4G, I think, so if you have messed up both it's double trouble.
Well, I suppose I've got nothing to lose by trying this out and failing. The only reason I want the other board is for the older baseband version, and the fact that I have safestrap installed on it.

Broken micro sd card slot

Hi, as embarrassing as this is to admit, while trying to put my micro sd card into my phone I accidentally inserted the micro sd into my phone upside down. It got lodged in and while trying to shimmy it out I accidentally pulled out an unidentifiable piece of hardware. The phone still works fine though I double checked everything (Calling, touch screen, internet, etc.) But I can safely say that I won't be able to insert any micro sd cards. Does anyone know if any guides on the internet (Preferably video as to how to take the phone apart and order the right parts to fix my honor 5x?
Watch jerryrigeverything on youtube... He not only teaches on how to take the phone apart but also links to extra parts...
