Right, now this almost made me send this phone back, thats how much it annoyed me, but i decided to soldier on none-the-less. I have a pair of Sony in earphones with remote, said remote works on my Desire, with every music player ive ever used in the last 19 months, never had a problem, but for some reason they dont work with my Razr, and neither do a pair of iPod/iPhone in earphones that are kicking around the abode (the missus', not mine ), with any music player i try that i know works on my Desire.
I queried this on another forum and apparently both sets of earphones i tried are "incompatible" Is this true? are only certain earphones able to work with the Razr? And if so, does anyone know if there is a "compatible" list of earphones that work?
Could you good people just list the earphones that work for you, and maybe we could get a good list of working sets for people to be able to reference to, to make life a bit easier for all us music listen too'ers.
Any help with this would be much appreciated, and not just by me im sure.

Try "Headset Droid" out. I haven't tested with the RAZR, but it's worked for me on every other device.
I can confirm my SGS2 in-earphones are working flawlessly on my RAZR.
As for buttons, try one of the apps for assigning the buttons to functions.
any of these work for beats?

ugh, seriously? Google needs to standardize the headset controls pronto - this is a problem that should NOT exist..My RAZR arrives today so I'll post later this evening (CST) if the JLab J3M's work or not.
If all else fails, there's always bluetooth (those controls are standardized, so they'll work). I personally like the Jabra Clipper (if you can still find it). Allows you to use any set of headphones you prefer with the bluetooth receiver.

Ok, so without Headset Droid installed, my JLab's did not work - at all. Not even pause worked.
I installed Headset Droid and configured it as such:
General Settings ->
Double Click Delay: 250ms
Click and hold delay: 450ms
Target Media Player: Music
Ignore Simulated Clicks: NOT checked
Button Actions -> Play/Pause button actions ->
Single Click: Play/Pause + answer call/end call
Double Click: Next Track + decline call/mute mic
Triple Click: Next Track + repeat caller
Quadruple Click: Next Track
Click and Hold: Volume reset and rise
Double click and hold: rewind
triple click and hold: fast forward
These settings work acceptably with the stock music app (and I'm sure they'll work for any 3rd party app as well, just change the target media player setting).
Remember: Headset Droid will not work if on the main screen it doesn't say "service is activated". Headset droid should automatically start once it detects the use of headset controls.
You can try to tweak it for better response (mine's not perfect) by clicking on "headset monitor" and testing to see how your headset button presses are being interpreted by the system. You may need to change delays or other settings to get it just right for your tastes (i'm not 100% happy with mine yet either).
This is the only solution I have..but it's certainly better than buying a new headset that will most likely sound like..well..awful. Once it's set right, you never have to touch it again, it really is a silent app - if you like it, throw some cash the developer's way (as I have).
is there something like this for the razr

Hi, i have AKG Q350. Control (vol + & -) and mic don't work
I have a Motorola S10-HD Bluetooth head set. Sense it is motorola, all functions work with the RAZR, to include, play, pause, skip, go back a song, and volume. With a built in mike you can also send and receive phone calls.
Being wireless, it's great for working out or what ever. I have great range with mine. Haven't had any issues with sweat or humidity.
Only draw backs, if you have a small head, it may not fit you correctly. Also, sense the 2.3.6 update, volume is very loud. I have to keep all media volumes turned all the way down most of the time. And with the Battery/receiver portion in the back, it's not very comfortable to lay on. I have to go with regular head phones when lounging on the couch.
I love them for 95% of the day though. Give them a look.
Headphone jack wiring
I had this problem as well - I tracked it down to the pinout of the jack being reversed at the tip (mic and ground reversed) - which makes iphone-compatible headsets not razr compatible.
I picked up a nice set of Seinheiser's specifically for android, and they worked without a hitch. Anything designed to work for apple though, forget it.
I am of course excluding bluetooth from this, I'm talking wired headsets only.
It's a pain. There's an adapter you can purchase - kvconnection had them the last time i looked - but it's annoying to need yet another bit of tech.
My dr dre ur beats that came with a sensation xe dont work on the razr. They do respond with the app player pro. But still not 100%

there has got to be a dev here that can make a separate navigation volume . im sick of not being able to hear my nav while playing music . when nav voice comes on its so low compared to the volume i listen to my music at . HELP! even if its not a separate volume may some one could break into the app and boost the volume in the app about 30 %
Hmmm sound interesting but upload or link me to the app

Its the maps app . You should have it on your phone .
If you wanted integrated navigation volume it would have to be hard coded into the OS. Nav volume is based on media volume, so you can't really boost it in the OS. It would require edits to a majority of the framework files and a custom systemui
well then my question is ... can it be done ? i know im not the only one with this problem. its all over the internet with no fix that i can find . im sure people would appreciate it if a modded app was available .there used to be a separate volume for this but google removed it for some reason ?

Doubtful. If it was done, it couldn't be done for Sense roms and would take months to implement into AOSP. You'd have to convince CM or someone that it's a major issue. Too much work for 1-2 people. Try using an aftermarket app like Volume+?
It can depends on how you are listening to music. If you listen to music from your phone threw the auxiliary port in the car then it will play threw the car speakers and work like you want it to. It maybe even work threw Bluetooth if your car lets you listen to music/media thew Bluetooth then you might be able to listen to the radio while having nav on and connected to Bluetooth and have it played back on the car speakers. When I need to use the nav on mine I just connect threw the auxiliary and listen to music from my phone and let the nav play threw the speakers.

yes i have a 2011 ford taurus and connect via bluetooth it works but while listening to music and using nav ,the nav is much lower than the music . and if i turn up the volume then the music is to loud . it just sucks google took out nav volume . theres got to be a way to break into the nav app and change the output volume . but im no developer so i may be wrong . maybe even something like this http://www.droidforums.net/forum/te...ions/85987-facinate-g-nav-volume-too-low.html
Try doing it thew the auxiliary that works great for me it works on stock nav and sygic.

Personally, for many reasons, I have a strong preference for using a separate device for my GPS. I use an old Garmin nuvi 750.
Without the Garmin, I would be running maps, trapster, and keeping my phone on the dashboard for a good GPS signal. And on top of that, I might receive a phone call.
I prefer using my GPS as a GPS and speed camera warning device. Then my smart phone can be a phone, email, messaging device.

Navigation is for people who don't have a GPS, or don't have it with them. Not meant to be a full fledged GPS. (Even though it is pretty close)
I noticed this same problem about a month or so ago. They changed Maps so that it had the same volume as general media and assumed that all other apps would work perfectly with it. Like you said its all over the internet, or a decent section of the internet. Based on the amount of complaints I assume eventually things will improve over time with updates. Yet with the way they reprogrammed it, there is no longer a separate "navigation volume" option in settings. So changing it would be like programming an entirely new app. I'm with you though. I can't hear my nav at the same appropriate volume of music.

I'm using power amp pro but still no change, if I click next track on headphones I dial the last number in my call history,
I'm using Tiny call confirm App, this blocks the call and won't dial the number until you press yes on phone.
When I asked HTC they said it was a faulty phone but this is my second phone and still same problem,
Try using your headphones after you have received or missed a call and let' me know if your having the same problem.

So it seems the phone does not recognize a stereo headset is connected to it? It thinks it is a bluetooth device instead so when listening to music and you double tap your headset it places a call just as it would on a bluetooth device when connected? Sounds like a dumb phone, lol! Hope this isn't the case, i use jaybird bluetooth headset 5 days a week in the gym listening to music from my phone and always change tracks with double tap, answer calls, etc. Would i be effected by this when listening to music?
Never heard of this problem in a cell phone before?

Nope, it displays the headset icon, so it's correct... I have a Monster Mobile Jamz Headset with only 1 control button with this problem.
My BT headset Sony MW1 works correct, but it has single buttons for every control like forward/rewind/play/pause/volume....

Ya I'm having the problem too I tried two of my friends hox and it worked fine on one and the other called out my fix for this as I use Google voice is have me ask each time I make a call to confirm and has worked fine like that I can't figure out what setting is on though to make one work fine and the other not
Damn this sucks. So i guess in the gym i have to pull this lunk out of my pocket whenever i want to change a track VS. the shortcut keys on my headset for which they were built for. Thanks HTC, you're always the best!!!
Do your wired headset volume rocker adjust the volume on the phone? I'm using a good pair of Bose wired headsets to listen to music and watch videos on my device and it has the controller on the headset for volume and change tracks/answer calls/ etc. When watching a Netflix video though in the Netflix App the Volume Rocker on my Bose headset does nothing, i have to manually press the volume rocker on the actual device, Wow another Fail HTC and these headphones are fully compatible with Android and Apple devices.
I hope once we can get our phones Rooted a developer can make a tool/tweak to make our headsets work they work on every other device under the sun the way they should and stupid HTC prevents for whatever reason. Really a waste to have zero control with a headset for this device.
Hey All,
So, I've been searching all over for an answer to this, I've found a lot of information about S-Voice's problems being used over a bluetooth device but I haven't been able to find any direct discussion of the issue I'm experiencing.
What I've found is that when I have S-Voice's voice wake-up feature enabled, it'll work totally fine with bluetooth off. However, as soon as I toggle bluetooth on the wake-up feature just completely stops working. I don't even need to be connected to a device, as long as bluetooth is on S-Voice Wake-Up does not work. I can manually launch S-Voice and it will hear me just fine, but saying the wake-up command does nothing. As soon as I toggle bluetooth back off, it'll wake up again just fine. I do get that with a bluetooth device connected the microphone on the device needs to be active, so I could understand if this was happening while I was paired with a headset or something, but it seems really odd to me that just having bluetooth on at all would disable the wake-up command feature.
I did try Ok Google and found that it works whether bluetooth is on or off, but I really like the increased functionality that S-Voice offers and I think that for the most part the updates Samsung has done on it are great, so I'd like to get this working if possible.
Has anyone else experienced this, either on the Note 4 or on any of the other Galaxy devices? Anyone have any ideas or solutions?
Thanks!
I'm having the same issue with svoice, thought it was just the bluetooth in the car at first til I red your post
Widespread
I've got exactly the same problem.... Lovely new note 4 which is forcing me to use my hands on the phone whilst driving... Samsung need to think about this.
Apparently an issue for a few years due to Bluetooth /svoice conflicts, but not acceptable to leave it unaddressed.
I can still use my car system to skip music tracks on the phone, or dial numbers from the car stereo touch screen, but surely this is one of the most valuable areas for voice control?!
Bluetooth off then everything works fine, but Bluetooth on and svoice just fails. No wake up or voice recognition.
I don't use a headset, and the car doesn't have an inbuilt mic, so phone mic is used for calls (which is still fine incidentally.. Only svoice which is screwed.)
Looking forward to someone finding a simple solution to this, as I have spent hours in the menus trying to make a difference but Samsung might have just let us down I'm afraid... And if that's the case then I look forward to hearing them fix it, and update our ware to get everyone on track again.
Resolved and simple
After much fckin about I managed to get this sorted and the answer is simple..... You can't have both apps always trying to recognise the voice all the time.
Go to the settings for ok Google and voice detection then always on... Uncheck it and suddenly svoice is working again... On my way to the car for final checking now,but preliminary checking says all should be good.
Nope
Ok... It works until the system is fully connected.
As soon as the connection is made then the handset microphone switches off again.
Note 4 s voice is officially dangerous to Road users and Samsung are ultimately proving themselves irresponsible for creating a system which forces use of hand and eye coordination when in Bluetooth and car mode.... Seriously Samsung... Sort this sht out.
When driving, set to hands free mode, this allows use of svoice on bluetooth

Note 4 and above have it listed as car mode.
svoice works perfectly with blue tooth when car mode is enabled.
Set it up at home before you use it the first time.
I'm using RadarBeep app in my car, but because my phone is paired to the car via Bluetooth, all the sounds that RadarBeep emits (radar alerts voice notification, radar proximity beeps,...) go to a channel that I would only normally hear if I put the car audio source to bluetooth. Unfortunately I prefer to listen to radio and by doing so I can't listen to RadarBeeps alerts... until now!
So I did this small xposed module, more as a small personal project to understand how to do it .
It seems to actually work, so I share it, maybe more people have the same need .
What I did is force all the RadarBeep sounds to go through the ringer stream, so you'll need to adjust the ringer volume on your phone accordingly. You can still lower the volume of Voice / Beeps from within RadarBeep. The master volume from RadarBeep settings won't work (as it adjusts the Media volume, not the Ringer volume).
Bugs can be expected, so bear with me
Download: see thread attachements.
I would love to see a universal version of this so we can re-route all sounds but will give this a try

What do you mean all sounds? All sounds from any app?
Maybe it would be possible. I'm not an expert in this. I managed to get it working as I needed for this case, not sure I would manage what you say, it sounds much more complicated. But Who knows.
Report back on your experience with this module please. Thanks in advance.
Sorry for my late response but i have more apps that have the same function as RadarBeep so it would be cool if you could reroute all audio from any app this way.
Would it be possible to change a setting somewhere (decompile and edit/replace something?) so it would use the sms app (from marshmallow) instead and send sms notifications to the ringer stream ?

I'm confused here, I don't understand what you mean with sms here, AFAIK RadarBeep doesn't send any SMS. Or do you mean that sms notification (not related at all with RadarBeep would ring through the ringer stream? (that should be possible I guess)

Hi, sorry for the confusion, yes the last part is what i mean, i had an xposed module to have sms notification in ringer stream up to kitkat 4.4 on my S4 but after lollipop it didn't work anymore and the dev. never updated his mod (so i had to leave my s4 at kitkat firmware only for this lol)
