[Q] Random switches off of apps in Accessibility setting - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

Does anybody experiences the unauthorized automatic switches-off of accessibility rights for random apps in Accessibility Settings? I switch them on but after a while I receive messages that an app require accessibility right to work and the app is off

Yea I get that too, not randomly since I only got 1 app using it but defently something switches it off

Tasker? Yes, it turns off which is annoying.

It's Huaweis ****ed battery optimisations.. gonna throw this peace of **** to the wall and I won't ever come back to Huawei

Pandora and Smart Remote controls sticking on lock screen.

Every time I use Pandora or Smart Remote, the controls that they place on the lock screen stay there until I reset the phone. I have even killed the apps and services, but they still stay until a restart. Does anyone know what is going on, or how to get rid of them?
Thanks

I don't know about Pandora as I don't use it on the phone, but I assume is just like the other one, but Smart remote on your lockscreen is simply an option in app's settings, is clearly there, reset the phone seem too drastic when all that you need is simply turn that option off.
Morale of this is, when you have an app doing unexpected things, just look for that in the app's settings, most if not all the time you will find there what's causing it.

Yes but that really doesn't get to the root of the problem which is the remote staying on lockscreen after you close/kill the app. Logically the remote lockscreen should be on when the app is running in the background, indicating the user is still interested in having remote control functionality, but should remove itself from the lock screen once the app is closed. I shouldn't have to unchecked that setting everytime before closing the app just to get rid of the lockscreen. killing the app should also get rid of it's lockscreen extension..and it doesn't.

ya know I always thought that that was a strange behavior but it has always been like that since I got the S5. As far as smart remote goes, once you enable it in settings it seems to just permanently add it to the lock screen until you restart. It should go away though if you open up settings for smart remote and disable show on lockscreen. Just kind of a pain in the neck to do it every time.
I use pandora everyday and i havent had this problem. i dont use the remote control.

[Q] Hibernating WhatsApp

For some reason my WhatsApp can't automatic hibernate. It's always in the 'Not hibernating automatically'. Whenever I manually make it hibernate, I don't receive any notifications or messages unless I open the app. I have the donation version, GCM is checked, keep notifications is checked, I have greenify enabled in both Accessibility and DeviceAdmin.
I do receive further notification and messages after I opened WhatsApp manually. Anyone else has experienced this and/or has a solution to fix this?

Quite weird as I don't face this! I would suggest for you to uninstall whatsapp, and then install it again. Backup its data beforehand with Titanium Backup if you intend to save the messages.

Didn't work. I still only get the messages when I open WhatsApp. Automatic hibernation is working now tho, for WhatsApp.

There's no actual fix for this, but I would try to reinstall Greenify, reset its device administrator and then clear the dalvik cache. It is quite of an isolated problem.. I sometime do have to admit Clash of Clans, Facebook and some 2 other I don't remember, stay without automatic hibernation but I can now cope with it. Thanks to swipe gestures of Nova Launcher lol.
And since it is a problem only related to certain apps, I don't think greenify should be blamed for this.

Funny thing is...if you un-greenify them and then choose to greenify them again and then hibernated them. The next time those apps will auto hibernated.
But upon reboot, the whole process starts all over again...weird.

I did a Factory Reset yesterday, because I had some issues. Thought it would work after the reset, but it didn't. How do you use the gestures to hibernate, coz I have also Nova Launcher?

You'll need to purchase Nova Prime in order for the feature to work. Assuming you have Nova and its premium features, go to Nova settings, and then tap on "Gestures and Buttons". Afterwards, choose your desired gesture, and then when choosing the action for a gesture, tap on "Shortcuts" tab, and choose Greenify's "Hibernate now" shortcut.
I personally choose the swipe up gesture. So when I am at the home screen, and I do also want my apps to be greenified forcibly, I will just have to swipe the screen up, and then the magic happens

In my case, this only happens to some apps. Others are perfectly hibernated. I agree it does feel weird, but I don't really concern about it.
Yes it only happen on some apps for me too..but if you un-greenify one of them and greenify it again and hibernated all of them, the next time all the apps will behave.

You're right, I just tested this and it actually work. Only tested this with WhatsApp tho. Thanks! But the problem I'm still having is, whenever WhatsApp is hibernated, I'm not getting any notifications and messages, even tho I have GCM enabled. I read that other people do receive them, so I find this really weird why it's not working.

I'm using Hibernate + Lock for double tap atm, and it's hibernating WhatsApp with the method above. I tested it with Google Play Services as well, but that didn't work. So my only problem now is not receiving anything while hibernated. Still can't figure this out. -_-'

You should not mess with Play Services! You should know that GCM apps use play services to deliver push notifications!
About whatsapp, most people sorted the problem out by enabling Device Admin. In the OP, you've mentioned that you did that. I suggest degreenify play services, and re-activate device admin.

Funny thing is, after I ungreenify WhatsApp and then greenify it, it will be hibernated and then I do receive the messages. Whenever I open WhatsAspp, it's going back to the 'Not automatically hibernating' list. Really werid. It says 'Service in use by Android-system Push'. The only way of hibernating it, would be forcibly, but then again, I wont receive anything and it will go back to the same list.
I removed Google Play Services from the list and did re-activated greenify in device admin, didnt work.
I had try greenifying Whatsapp before, sometimes it works real good, sometimes I encounter the same issue as you. As such, I did not greenify it again.
I don't greenify Play Services.

Maybe I'll give it up as well. But on the other hand, I really want it to work, because the main reason I bought it was for WhatsApp.
Install greenify then clean master.. It works. And saves battery

Ok, I think I found the solution. I had this app, called Wakelock Terminator. Within the app, I checked 'Prevent Wakelock' for Google Play Services. I unchecked it and deleted everything in the 'Filter' field and after that I deleted the app as well, because the reason I had this app was for Google Play Services.
Now WhatsApp is working while hibernated. I'm getting the notifications and messages. Maybe this would be your problem as well?

Nah WhatsApp is not the problem. It is okay for me. The only problem I have is the other apps that people don't report it here. But I don't really mind about it. And I don't kill any wakelock or some sort, so the problem lies on those rogue apps instead. Anyway glad you finally worked it out. Told ya it doesn't have to do with Greenify

Well I actually hibernate whatsapp but still have push messages come in. I have to agree it does comes a bit late but sometimes it appears instantly when I connect to a wifi. I may consider ungreenifying it though, but not now.

Find X2 pro bugs

Let's collect our discovered bugs of this device. Here are mine:
Default Launcher setting is lost upon reboot. In my case I set Hypersion as default, reboot and the setting is gone. I have to reset and sometimes eben force close the stock launcher or I will still end up on stock when I go back from an app.
GPS coordinates are often wrong in exif of taken photos.
Android Auto freezes as soon as the phone goes into standby.
9gag stays empty and needs to be closed if it was in background.
Google Photos is super laggy due to scoped storage limitations in Android 11. Especially while deleting pictures. Maybe not an device specific issue.
Gboard overlays on places it shouldn't, in any app, only way to fix is to close the app completely.
Game Space app resets everytime I restart my phone, additionally, unhides games, meaning I've gotta flick the switch each time.
Oppo App Market, when I update a app and press install, the install prompt repeatedly refreshes even if the apps installed successfully, only resolve is to close the app completely, and refresh the update page.
Notification panel stays grey even with enhanced dark mode.
App drawer cannot be customized at all, not even row layout.
Swipe up gestures seem to have a hang when swiping up from the centre, also affects keyboard too.
UI glitches in certain apps.
Oppo App Market now persistently requests read app usage permission.
File Manager has a hang upon opening varies between 1-4 seconds.
Microphone volume on social media applications is ridiculously low.
I realize that app drawer customisation & notification panel colour, aren't bugs, however they're very annoying.

Pressing "Close all" disconnects Garmin watch, as it seems to shutdown Bluetooth in the process. Reported to Oppo. No response.

It does not shutdown Bluetooth but the plugin app that is running in the background and is needed to communicate with the watch. Same thing with Samsung active plugin - when I hit close all I get a notification that the plugin restarted itself.

I just sent them an email to their Australian support email address.
There are plenty in the Color OS 11 update. Here's another one... Using "Keep screen on while charging" in Developer Options to circumvent the annoying Android Auto issue, and Navigation pops up with no way of canceling it, even after the phone is disconnected from USB. The only way to get rid of this notification is to restart the phone. Oppo really shouldn't have pushed such a buggy update without proper testing.
Edit... Seems this bug doesn't even need to have android auto activated, just charging via my car's USB port will trigger the navigation bug. Any way to rollback to Android 10? More problems than this is worth.

Good evening from France to the whole XDA community!
I have a problem on my Oppo Find X2 PRO: it often happens that when I call or someone calls me, no sound is picked up by the phone when I speak. My caller can't hear me.
I wonder if this is related to the use of a Bluetooth device (my speaker, my headset) before?
Has anyone experienced this problem and if so, how did they solve it?
I would add that a simple reboot is enough to correct the problem...

Question Something keeps resetting my volume........

Is there a way to see real time app activity on an android device? I remeber there were programer apps that you cold run on PC that did this for debug/cracking.
I'm honestly just trying to figure out what app keeps resetting my volume. Its been going on for months and its driving me nuts...
Any other suggestions are welcome.

Developer options>running apps
See what's running when normal, immediately after an event see if something new is running there.
There are 3rd party apps that may work better, on Samsung's I use Device Care to do this as it list cached apps in order of use. I clear the cache and wait. You get the idea, it works well for stock devices. I tracked down some nasty critters like that and avoided a factory reset to purge them.
Likely a 3rd party app, try in safe mode. May be a system app, any app that has change settings permissions. Use that list as well to see all the potential suspects. Eventually you'll find it.
Avoid using factory reset as it is likely to reoccur otherwise. Clearing the offending apps data maybe all that's needed. Fun times...
Thanks blackhawk, I'll give that a shot.

Global power management is another trouble maker. Try disabling that as well.
Not sure how you do it on Pixels. It will be under battery or power management ie adaptive battery, shutdown apps when not needed, something like that.
It's a native Google Android power management system. To check if it's active: Developer options>standby apps, all app buckets states should show as "active" and not be adjustable (any changes won't take).
If so global power management is disable.
If you can change any of the bucket states, close Developer options and the change takes, it is active. You can not disable it here though.
try checking drivemode , bluetooth devices, adaptive sound and even google assistant for bedtime timers etc

When I had the same problem after switching to a new phone I realized that it must have been app and I finally found the culprit. It was a sound app that I had installed as an equalizer.
I just came across something in a huge Reddit thread about it that suggests it's a TikTok accessibility feature that keeps reducing it.

Is an app killer what I need?

There are at least two apps (that I've noticed) which seem to act strange when I run them again after running them once. The strangeness vanishes if I go into recent apps, swipe the app away, then run it from scratch. I get annoyed at having to do this frequently. Would one of the many background app killers out there achieve the same effect automatically without me having to swipe the app away? Any recommendation for a killer I can restrict to just certain apps? Is there any setting on the s21 to say "never cache this app in memory"?

No offense but it sounds like the issue is with the apps and using an app killer to autokill the app is nothing more than band aid. The app killer would be yet another service that will run in the background using up your resources. I think you would be better off contacting the developer and see if they will allow you to submit logcats so they can fix the issue(s). This would help you and potentially help others as well. I would also see if there any alternative apps that can do the same thing.

The most irritating one is the Chase mobile app. Attempting to contact the "developer" gets me chase customer service who wants to help me reinstall the app. Pleas to forward my mail to the actual developer are met with total incomprehension .
Okay. We might try going deeper here. Did the problem always exist or did it start randomly? If each one was working fine at one point it could be an update from the developer broke Apps. Did it start after an update to the app or the phone Rom?
Did you customize and/or disable the os or rom baked services/apps?
How long have you had the phone? Did you upgrade from android 11 to 12 and do a factory reset? Just some questions to see if there might be other root causes.
Everything is stock with all system updates from samsung applied. I'm pretty sure it started after an app update. The chase app insists "You are not connected to a network", but since I was just on chrome looking at web pages, that seems unlikely. It acts more like the app doesn't clean up everything correctly on exit, then if android keeps it around in memory, it has trash in uninitialized variables when starting back up again. I've gotten pretty good about swiping it away from recent apps, so even if they fix the bug someday, I'll probably keep doing it from reflex .
Have you looked at recent comments for the app on the play store? Are there similar complaints that started around a certain time? That would be a definitive indicator if it was an update issue.
I commented about it and since then 15 people have found my review helpful, so maybe that means they have the same problem.

Yeah...that is unfortunate. It looks like you may have to wait on the company and developer to fix it.
