I have LG TrueHD LTE P936 phone. Got it yesterday. I was dissappointed by the android version it has 2.3.6, I expect that such a phone should have ICS at least. I downloaded the LG Software update tool and it says it finds an update. Now the update downloads installs and it says update complete, but I don't notice anything different. I ran the update 3 times and it always downloads the same file and installs it and says completed but nothing changes. Can anyone help me update my phone?
Hello peeps!
This is a small guide to install Lollipop 5.0.2 update to your LG G2 D802T(For other variants,it can work too). I installed it today, and the process was extremely simple! Keep in mind, this is the OFFICIAL update, so before you proceed forward, make sure your device isn't rooted , and is running the stock OS!
Shall we begin?
INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Download the attached zip file.Extract the attached zip file, and install the tool.
2) Run the tool. Click on "USB drivers" option on your left. It will download the driver's setup files(I had to install two).
3) Install all the drivers.
4)Connect your phone to your computer.
5)The tool will start searching for the update. As soon as the search finishes, it will show "New software update available".
6) Click on "Start upgrade" option on the left.
7) That's it! The software will automatically download and install the lollipop upgrade for you!:fingers-crossed:
Keep in mind that during the installation, DO NOT unplug your phone from your pc,as your phone might get bricked(In English, screwed)!
Keep patience too, since the file is HUGE, and might take some time, depending on your Internet speed. I have a fast internet connection , and it took me totally about 47 min to download and install.
Cheers!
UPDATE: I tested the battery for two days, with some heavy use and got a screen on time of 6 hours+, and was left with 8 % battery! The battery life has improved pretty significantly !
Thanks for sharing knowledge
There's one issue that im constantly facing.
Whenver i press update button via "LG Support Tool", a pop up appears stating " Your Phone is on ICS and it'll be upgraded to JB first and then Kitkat"?? Did you came across any of this?
I'm using Kitkat 4.4.2 and i dont know if its a glitch or something.
I'm using latest LG Support Tool and my phone is not rooted.
It worked for my too. I got from 4.4.2 to 5.0.2 (V30d-EUR-XX) thanks to this tutorial and I'm thankful because the OTA didn't work.

Short note: Tested on my VTR-L29.
Short intro if you would like to read from my experience:
- Okay so there are many people complaining about B162 that is not updating apps via playstore so that kinda made me want to update my phone to the last B164 version. After a few minutes searching through the forums I found a tool to update my phone and I decided to try. I made all the steps and the phone rebooted and surprise: update has failed and also I got the beautiful 'your device has failed verification error'. Sounds scary,eh? Not at all because it did not affect my phone in any way but it pissed me off so I decided to browse even deeper and I found this tutorial which worked. I got it running with B164 and also got rid of that error. Life's fun, isn't it? lol
Tools you will need:
- Patience and coffee
- Your phone must be atleast 80% battery because it will take a while to finish the whole process
- Firmware Finder app ( you can download it from the playstore / apk from the web ..you choose )
Steps:
- Install the magic Firmware Finder app from playstore or your source
- Open it and you will notice three (3) bars on the left side of the app -> choose Settings
- Now you should see an option ' Use proxy for install ' -> activate the option and install the addon when it ask you to do it
- Return to the inital screen of the app and search for the latest firmware available ( for me it was B164 ). Make sure you use the full firmware. DO NOT USE OTA !
- Press on your firmware and choose ' get an update through proxy '
- Go to phone settings-> wifi -> long press your wifi network -> modify -> show advanced options -> proxy settings -> manual -> set the name as localhost and port as 8080 and then save.
- Go to settings -> updater -> check for new update. A new update should appear and it also should be the firmware you have chosed earlier in Firmware Finder app. Pay attention to the details so you won't screw things up. If the update matches with your firmware finder update package then proceed and press download.
- Once the download has started leave it till it gets ~5% and check for any errors . If everything works and is error free then you can pause the download.
- Remember I told you to pause the download? Well yea, you have to do it. Now go back to wifi settings @ your network, remove the proxy and save.
- Resume the update download
- When the download is finished the phone will verify the package and install it.
- Congrats mate, you did it !
I hope this will help people out with updates or failures.
I also got you a few screenshots that might clear things out.
Have fun using your P10 :highfive: .
09.01.2018 UPDATE FOR USERS THAT CAN JOIN THE OREO BETA BY COUNTRY USING FIRMWARE FINDER
Note 1: Your device might not boot. -> May lead to a factory reset using stock recovery. * it was not my case but it can happen*
Note 2: This might not work if your device was rebranded. Keep in mind that they use the IMEI to sign up for beta testing so your rebranded device might not be able to sign up for it.
Note 3: Do it at your own risk. Do not blame me if something goes wrong. This worked for me and a couple of people but it's not 100% sure that will work for anyone.
Note 4: Always backup your data!
We all know that they need B180 to get the beta access but even though I saw pictures of users that joined the program using B171. If you are using a higher version, as I did before (B179) there is no project available in beta app. Most of users are using B179 and B180 is not aproved because we are unlucky lol.
I managed to get a quick fix for that in order to join the beta that migh work for you aswell.
Follow these:
* you follow, you risk mate, not my fault if you mess up something*
1. Use Firmware Finder.
2. Set proxy to B164 (FullOTA-MF 2017.08.14) - do not forget to check for it..always check to be aproved mate!
3. Download and wait for it to install.
4. Boot the phone, clear all recent apps and get B171 via OTA ( NOT FIRMWARE FINDER, JUST CHECK FOR UPDATES ).
5. Download and wait for it to install x2 (B171 this time).
6. *If you already have the beta app installed, if not jump to next* Go to settings -> Beta app -> Clear all the data.
7. Sign in to huawei id (if not already).
8. Go to beta app and accept the conditions -> go to projects -> the beta project should be there, just sign up for it and wait for your request to be accepted!
9. Wait for further updates, since you are signed they might come.
10. *optional* Boot into stock recovery ( vol + and pwr ) and clear cache after the updates, that might help the phone to clear up some junk files used in the whole process.
I hope that this will help most of you that got into B179 before the beta testing.
Cheers :highfive:
Worsk perfectly on VTR-L09
I am happy to hear that !
Works great to bring VTR-L09C2B151 with Vodafone branding to 155. Thanks
will it work on rooted device? thanks
Might work if your recovery is stock. Not sure though, but your root will be gone after the update.
You can try but I can not confirm it will work.
Firmware Finder
I think you forgot to mention the "Check Firmware Access" if the firmware update is approve to install already, otherwise installation will fail after reboot. Also, I do download OTA only and not the full firmware package since I'm already in the latest version. Download full firmware package only if you're in much lower firmware version

And will it also work if I wanna downgrade my firmware? instead of update?

Thank you for the guide. Followed all steps. Once downloaded it says it has failed to authorise and it will delete the package. Can't seem to get around this. Any ideas?
You sure you got the right package?

Thanks for swift reply.
Yes, I go to the Firmware Finder app and find the full update version I want, switch on the proxy inside app, change settings for WiFi (localhost 8080), go to settings, it tells me there's an update.
Checked the size of file - it's 2.8GB instead of 2.2GB. The button I press says "Quick Update" (blue button). It downloads the update. I get further than 5%, pause download, remove the WiFi proxy settings (localhost 8080), get 100% but...
...says it is unauthorised and will be deleted.
(EDIT: Screenshot added below)
For some reason I still think that there is something wrong with your package. I had no such issue with mine. I'm not sure what to do about exactly but you can try to ask for help in the original thread I provided in the main post.
Hi guys. So I have the the VNS-L31C432B391 and I want to upgrate the P9 Lite to B397. Can I do it without any problem?
I got the same error as @wickdaman with my P10 L09. Downloads the entire thing then fails to authenticate and deletes the update.
Before downloading the new firmware click on 'IMEI check'. This will tell you if the firmware is installable on your device.
None of the B171 above versions (witch is my current on VTR-L09B432) is suitable for the installation, checked with/without IMEI and by trying to install B179 for example that lead to the same outcome, install failed, downloaded firmware deleted. I think this issue has something to do with EMUI 5.1 ID safeguard that I tried to downgrade without success but anyway, any of versions with number below mine (B171) can be used and I have installed them successfully, B162 i think and after restart system checks for newer versions on its own and finds B171 and naturally I am back to beginning.
Sorry for my English, it's not my native language, I did the best I could. Hope this helps people.
Hello, newb here.
Will this get the updates directly from Huawei while skipping the provider? My provider (Fido aka Rogers) is horrible for bringing out updates and are full of bloat wear.

Checked VKY-L09 C432B177 update today. Allows me to download it now, although the model number has now changed to include a B at the beginning - BC432B177.
No idea if this is meant to be the same model number or if it's a locked network version or not. I'll find out soon and write an update.

I did find the answer to my problem is that FF doesn't support EMUI5+
If you are on EMUI4 or less it works, but something in EMUI5 breaks the ability to update in this manner.

If the friend who made the share had caught this warning. Because no software is installed on the device.
what is the benefit going from A to G, and vice-versa?

The chinese version A has no audio resampling built in by default system wide and also gives acces to hidden nfc chip that is restricted to be used exclusively within meizu pay app - payment system in china, which in turn hasnt been launched yet. Not to mention the lack of ubiquitous google eye
It is actively discussed on russian forum 4pda.ru
I recently picked up a the F-05e but it has ICS on it. I see that there is JB and downloaded the update but can't figure out what it should be named or where to put it for the built-in firmware update (power button + volume up) to see it and apply it. The file is called UpdatePackageFile.dat and I put it in the root of the SDCard but it says it can't be found. I can't read Japanese and the translate options don't appear to be helping me too much. I am using this page:
http://spf.fmworld.net/fujitsu/c/update/nttdocomo/f-05e/update2/top/index.html#heading02
If I try to follow the instructions on the above page, the tablet tells me "Software update is necessary for the Android system upgrade. Launch this application again after the update is done." When I try to do the software update, I get an error that says I must be connected to the Docomo network for it to work. "When docomo network is not available, or during roaming, software update is not available even if Wi-Fi is connected." It might be that the tablet can't be updated but it is worth a shot. If nothing else, the tablet can run a good percentage of Android software (Netflix, ereaders, not too heavy games, etc).
Any help is appreciated.
