Samsung galaxy tab s3 + switch pro controller. - Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Questions & Answers

hello folks,
so we are all familiar with sixaxis and the wonder it brings to our rooted devices with a ps4 controller, I was wondering if there is something similar for nintendos switch pro controller. iv tried tethering it directly via bluetooth but the lag is terrible. same thing with the joy cons and "joycon-enabler". mind you this might be at least in part due to the tablet itself rather than an app issue.... but yeah any works in project that some of you know of? also while im at it, granted the S3 is no K1 but is it considered a solid "gaming" tablet? my main interest would be using it to run retro arch...
thank you in advance

So while I wait for a reply I can confirm that this little beauty works like a charm with retro, out of the box and via bluetooth....

What games are you playing with it on the Tab S3? Just curious as I've not played many games.

Wireless Wii Retro Controller

Anyone else using their tablet for old school gaming on the go?
I ordered and received the best wireless controller you can get for the gTablet (at the moment):
http://us.codejunkies.com/Products/Wii-Wireless-Retro-Controller__EF000622.aspx
The best thing is, it connects directly to the gTablet with the Wii Controller software without the need for a separate remote (like other wireless classic controllers I found do).
Awesome, thank you for the heads up!
Thanks for the information, and link! Is there any lag while playing?
I haven't noticed any, but I didn't get to play it that much last night before passing out. I am thinking about doing a youtube video on it sometime this weekend and post it on here.

Sounds cool, thanks in advance if you do get around to a video.
Looks cool, but almost $50 total seems high..... Not sure, but if I could get BT controllers to actually work with TnT 3.13, I would consider it

Yeah, it was a little on the steep side, but seeing how an extra wiimote + classic controller would run me $60 new, I think its a good deal.
So what type of games can you play on this? Is there a good place to get emulators and what not.
I have a usb wii controller I wonder if that would work.

Skyrim on Touchpad port?

pretty cool though heh? as long as you have a nvidia cpu on both your desktop and tab, you can play real skyrim. This would be absolutely sick if you can use your pc mods with this too. I am in no way a dev, and i know nothing about making apps, so i cant really do a port for this, but i thought maybe someone here loves skyrim as much as I do.
I think you mean nVidia GPU for the PC. nVidia doesn't make CPUs for x86 yet.
Interesting. I don't have a PC powerful enough anyway and I don't really have any interest in Skyrim but it's great that this is even possible. Makes me think that services like Onlive aren't far off taking over.

I doubt it because the TP has a qualcom snapdragon while you need a tegra 3 inorder to play skyrim on your tablet

Yea exactly. Doesn't matter at all what CPU or GPU your computer or tablet is running. Splashtop works fine regardless.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leyx3pFzrHY
The only reason they say it REQUIRES Nvidia is that they are releasing a THD (Tegra HD) app and it was an Nvidia presentation. So of course they are going to say that you need an Nvidia graphics card and an Nvidia based tablet, etc. Utter nonsense.

I seriously had doubs this whole thread was meant serious after reading the OP and the first comments.
thanks guys
I've also been running Skyrim on my Touchpad via Splashtop and it works fine. As pointed out, it's basically the same thing those guys at the Nvidia booth were doing.
Question for the other people in the thread running Skyrim, what are you using for a controller? I am using my wireless 360 controller with the PC dongle extension hooked up to my PC's usb. It has a pretty good range around most of my apartment, but I don't really have something I can use to play it when I'm away from home.
Well, I have the HP bluetooth keyboard and a bluetooth mouse but I think that would be kind of clunky. Are there any good controllers that work well w/ CM7?
so splashtop works regardless? nice, im pretty sure that was one of those 10 cent apps i picked up during the sale. so what are the chances of connecting a ps3 or xbox controller to the touchpad so i could play at school or work or something?

Yep, it runs fine for me over wifi, though I haven't tried it over 3G/4G yet.
Supposedly, ICS has better support for gaming controllers so maybe with CM9 we'll have more options there. I seem to remember some people saying they've paired PS3 bluetooth controllers to their Android tablets running CM7 so I think it's doable but I've not tried yet.
I'm not sure if you can get a 360 controller working on it, I don't think the wireless one will because there's no drivers for it even if you get the dongle hooked up via an adapter. You might be able to get a wired one to work but then you'd have to use a Y adapter to pull in power for it.
I wish there was just an easy option for a standardized wireless gaming controller that worked well on Android without jumping through a bunch of hoops.
The Dualshock 3 and sixaxis PS3 controller works with some app from the market. Seen it in action and its pretty flawless.

I've always gotten a lot of lag with splashtop. It seems like there's a half a second to full second of lag between touch and response. Am I the only one with this problem?
Does anyone know what the best remote desktop app is in terms of speed?

You CAN use your PC mods with this, as Skyrim is actually running on your PC and streaming to your tablet. Also, this should be possible on a touchpad with Chainfire3D running on it. I am going to try it right now, in fact.

Personally, I have found Splashtop to be the best/fastest for any multimedia intensive remoting, and I have tried many. Were you connecting via the internet or local wifi ?
I think the point of that presentation is that its using tegra to recieve the compressed stream from an nvidia gpu. The regular splashtop app works exactly the same but in my experience the frame rates lag behind on the remote device to the point where i find the whole thing unplayable even on wifi at 720.
The controller is plugged in to the tablet, not the host pc.
The key word, optimization. If someone can get the stream that sharp with almost zero lag in a chainfired config on the touchpad, i would love to see it, cuz i haven't been able to achieve that myself

[Q] Does anyone have Shadowgun working on ICS?

I thought it used to work when I was using CM9, but now I'm on AOKP. Does anyone have it working?
It almost seems like it's trying to play the phone version, if that's the case then I'm thinking something got messed up with the build.prop.

Zero lag, the graphics are very smooth, but, as I already mentioned, the controls are quite bad.
There's no lag, but it took me about an hour to map all the gamepad controls since the touchscreen compatibility is literally ****ed up. Now that I can play with a gamepad it works flawlessly though.

Wait what? how do you play it with a gamepad controller? I was SO MAD about the touch controls as it would randomly shoot and I can't stop the waste of bullet's and especially that annoying moment where you can't aim at the bad guy's in the first scene after shooting the top corner's of the gate

In sixaxis controller I checked "enable gamepad, " then Shadowgun enables the gamepad menu and allows you to assign bindings from within the game. I bet plugging in a xbox controller would work as well. I'm not sure if keyboard emulation works anymore, but I don't see why not.

You would have to insmod the gamepad module...and then buy a usb adaptor for $20. Then you would need a compatible cable to connect the xbox controller to the tablet.
I just went to Walmart and dropped $60 on a Dual Shock 3 controller though...the Sixaxis Controller app is pretty awesome. (like it's really really really really awesome)
Epic, will try this, can you link a specific picture or sort of the USB adapter? I assume this is a female-female one?

Here's the official Samsung one, I don't know much more about them.
Holy crap?! This would totally save my day, How the **** did I not find something like that? I asked them for ALL their accessories that they had and I got dragged to the stupid cover cases.
Thank's for this, Now I know what it looks like.
I figured you had to use the original cable, then a female-female adapter, then the xbox controller on the other side. All in all a very long ass wire.

Dualshock Support - is it really THIS s##t??

Hi,
Just picked myself up a 16GB Tablet Z-£315 in the airport in Australia, thanks very much!!
Loving it so far, after returning a Nexus 10 with a dodgy screen.
One big reason for me to keep it stock and not unlock the bootloader and flash AOSP or CM10.1 is the built in dual shock support.
Well I've just purchased a Dualshock 3 controller and paired it up and I've got to say/ask, how crap is this?? I'm seriously disappointed, it seems like none of the games I have work with it:
Delver:can move with left analogue stick, can rotate left and right with UP and DOWN on the right stick, can't attack.
Minecraft: Doesn't work.
Pixel Dungeon: Doesn't work.
Bridge Constructor: Doesn't work.
Lode Runner: Doesn't work.
Etc...
Particularly disappointed with Minecraft-on Nexus 10 framerate was like crap-works perfectly on Tablet Z but the onscreen controls just kill my RSI riddled hands and forearms, this version of the game would be so f&&king sweet with a PS3 controller on this screen.
Is there any knack to getting the controller to work? Does the rooted Sixaxis app work better than the 'built in dualshock' support? Do any games at all work with PS3 controller?
Thanks.
I was a little disappointed that more games didn't work with the controller natively myself, these are the games that I've tested that do work though: GTA vice city, dead trigger, shadowgun, and snesoid for SNES emulation. If anyone else has been using the controller successfully feel free to share

I've only used Shadowgun which was pretty good with a controller. If you look further down the list, he didn't link to Temple Run and also there was a Sony site linked that was a store of supported controller games.
I've purchased Another World and already own GTA 3, both work a treat with PS3 controller. Just a shame that Minecraft doesn't work!! Dammit
I think for now only game available on Playstation Mobile app (or Playnow) are compatible with DS3.
I don't know if the offer is still valable on Xperia Privilege app with 25euro gift, if yes use it to buy from PS Store.
Mega Blast work wirelessly.

I use it for SNES emulators. Just had to map the buttons once, and it works flawlessly.
More Play store apps need to support controllers though, definitely.

What SNES emulator do you prefer?
I use snesoid but that's just because its what I've always used. It gets the job done and have never had a reason to check out any other emulators.
Such a shame they switched the upper left row of buttons with the lower right one, GTA 3 is kind of hard to play in this way. I'm using an SGP321 on .253 though so maybe it's fixed in .307?

[Working] GameStop Red Samurai V2 Bluetooth Controller ($12.97)

Picked up a pair of these controllers from GameStop earlier this week. Only tried pairing one, but it works great! It has 2 modes, in one of them it acts just like the remote without the voice part.
http://m.gamestop.com/Catalog/Product/104425
I bought one today and it works perfectly. Tip: ensure the controller remains in the NP's line of sight during pairing. The first time it couldn't pair and the second time it paired but no buttons (in game mode) worked because of this.

One thing worth noting...
The controller pairs as two separate devices. If you pair it in "keyboard" mode, you must re-pair it in "gamepad" mode.
Just picked up two of these today based on reviews in this thread and after a few tests I can confirm that these things are amazing.
I was previously trying to use my Ouya controllers to play games here and there, but these $12 controllers are 100x better and most games and emulators I've tried so far "just work". They're actually comfortable to hold, buttons are responsive with good travel and I can operate the NP menu with them without any bizarre button config.

I agree. They feel so much smoother than allot of other controllers I have used. The Gamestop associate helping me recommended it. Glad I listened to him! The only real negative I have about this controller is that I wished it used micro USB to charge instead of the mini USB.
I hope this post can help those on a budget looking for a great gaming controller. Trying to give back to an awesome community that has helped me avoid many potentially bricked devices.
Just ordered mine from gamestop, it better be as good as you all say it is... Or else!

Did you try to see if it works with 2 players simultaneous? I purchased a NykoPad Pro which works great and I want another to use for my MAME emulator. I read reviews (amazon) that users can pair a second controller but they can't seem to get the second Nyko Playpad to go into two player mode.
I hope the Red Samurai doesn't have his problem.
Finally arrived in the mail today and I LOVE the feel of it. Very comfortable to hold, maybe a little light, and aesthetically pleasing. Just need to figure out the easiest way to remap keys to work with emulators, and then I'll be golden!

if you install lollirok and amazon appstore the list grows a whole lot.

No worries, I'll explain as much as I can. Looks like you will need a mouse or 3rd party app to access the menu when your in the app. I use my DroidMote app. I couldn't access the settings with the physical remote or the remote app.
Once you go to settings, select input.
