Redmi 3 Pro, unlocked, Miu 9 global stable latest.
First with a successfully encrypted device I've tried to root. TWRP asked me for a password that wasn't my numeric pattern. I had to erase the device and lose my data.
Then I first rooted then tried to encrypt.
It has stayed like 3 hours, at the MI logo doing nothing. I forced restarted and tried again. Same behviour.
What's the correct procedure? Is there a way to have both root and encryption, even in a custon Rom?
Thank you
No way to root + encrypt with any ROM?
anybody?
8 months later maybe somebody has an answer?

Hello
I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro [Qualcomm]
I tried installing TWRP on my phone and my phone now won't boot, it stays on Mi logo
I have done these:
1) I installed Global Developer 6.10.13 [I did it from the phone's update menu when I was on a custom ROM]
2) Global Developer ROM got installed just fine, it was working flawlessly but bootloader was relocked
3) I unlocked the bootloader using Mi Unlock tool (official way, with my Mi Account)
4) I installed TWRP Recovery from this site
http://forum.xda-developers.com/red...official-twrp-3-0-2-0-recovery-redmi-t3352966
5) When I launched TWRP it asked for a decryption password, I tried my pins and Mi Account password and I did a factory reset
Now my phone is stuck at Mi Logo
What do I have to do now?
I just want TWRP and Root with Global Developer nothing more.
The MIUI MM ROMs have inbuilt data encryption. That's why official TWRP asks for that decryption password. Do this -
Boot into fastboot mode. Flash this TWRP. This has inbuilt support for data decryption as well as dm-verity disabling plus it can root your MIUI too. Go ahead and try this one.
Thanks! That fixed things!
Glad to be of help.
i was running pixel experience rom and i wanted to switch to xiaomi.eu rom. I wiped internal storage, data etc. , but the rom says device is locked and asks for my mi account password. It always says wrong password , i cant unlock it.
may be you can try flashing global stable fastboot rom with mi flash tool then use mi unlock tool to unlock again(in my case it didnt wait for another 72 hours....it unlocked again instantly)
it did work , but i found out the issue was my network blocking the xiaomi verification.
It could've simple resolved by formating internal storage instead of wiping... It will remove the encryption from storage...
Selling my F1 phone. No matter what I do, on first boot, LineagOS asks for the pattern I used.
Tried wiping everything with TWRP 3.3.0 official. System, data, everything really - installing LOS from SD.
Basically, installing vendor, LOS, gapps - boots fine, then asks for the pattern.
Adding DFE to the flashing sequence didn't do much.
What to do to make the phone "brand new" and forget my pattern?
I also got this.. Im in siberia rom sometimes when i reboot my phone it asks the pattern i used so i just use the pattern lock i put. It then proceeds booting up but i never flashed dfe my twrp is unofficial twrp with decryption support
Yeah, it never bothered, but it might bother the new owner.
It's hard to believe that it's actually impossible to remove. I don't care about wiping clean, just need to make sure there's no lock.
Did you try flashing miui official rom via miflash ? I once done this method on redmi 3 on my friends phone since he got locked out of his phone . he did not remember his xioami id or password but miflash method worked for him

Thought if that, for some reason no version of miflash worked for me.

after flashing lineage i got this encryption pattern . I tried flashing Disable-Force-Encryption-Treble.zip
and still get this !!

flash it via TWRP
I literally got my Mi Pad 4 (lte) today. Initially it had MIUI EU rom installed, but I somehow managed to wipe the system while trying to install Lineage 16, resulting in having no OS. After several hours of struggle, I managed to install MIUI 10 Chinese stock (10.3.2) via MiFlash. However, I cannot go pass the twrp password stage when I use twrp on adb. I tried formatting data a few times, but it didn't work. I tried adb sideload option from twrp to install twrp or any other ROM, but again, the data mounting issue got in the way. I am completely stuck, and I am desperate. I have tried many different versions of twrp available on this forum, but none of them worked. Could anyone possibly help me? Which twrp worked for you? I've tried:
"TWRP-20190104-3.2.3.0-3-clover.img"; "twrp-3.3.1-clover.img" (from unofficial twrp); "recovery-TWRP-3.2.3-0930-XIAOMI_PAD4(PLUS)-CN-wzsx150.img".
Any help would be hugely appreciated! Many thanks!!!
Problem solved! I used the latest version of the Chinese TWRP (by LR Team) which has a function to disable forced encryption. I needed to reboot the tablet a couple of times to achieve it, but eventually the password step on TWRP was gone! Many thanks to LR Team!! I still don't know what (else) I should do when the 'format data' option on TWRP doesn't remove the encryption. .. Anyway, I have now managed to install MIUI 10 EU then Pixel Experience without an issue.
Hi,
I used to have Pixel Experience android 9 and had no problem with twrp asking me for password, now I updated to PE Plus and when I tried to install the incremental update twrp asked me for a password.
I formated data and installed the new update manually but I don't see myself erasing all my data every few months. Is there a way to get around this? Is the only solution rooting the device to install DFE?
