It refuses to install on mine. Could someone upload the apk?
As far as I can tell, if you don't have a Google Music cloud account, the app doesn't behave any differently than the stock android music app.

I've also tested GingerBlur 3.1 with a Market install of Music 3.0 Beta as well as copying with root explorer . It installs, but the Settings menu vanishes. I'd be interested to hear from someone that has Music Beta on Atrix AND has the settings menu within the Music application. This menu can be seen on Music 3.0 included with GingerBlur 3.1. One thing we know bout Music 3.0 is that it breaks the car dock based music track navigation feature. I'm reverting to the previous version for the time being, until we have another something to play with,
I just got my invite!
Had to get on my laptop to accept the new Music terms and conditions
Prompted to download "google music manager".exe
Asked if Id like to add free music from various genres - i did
Asked where i keep my music? Itunes, Win media, folder
Pointed it to my music folder
Found 10,000+ songs
Uploads just happen in the background afaik
Now the atrix!
Opened Google Music app, scrolled around. Nothing.
Phone settings>accounts>Google> no Music checkbox to tick
Back to Google Music app
[popup] you have been selected for Google Music Beta!
Allowed my Google account
I can see cloud music mixed in with the music on my phone
Sounds good.
No stutters.
The settings menu is now available in the gMusic app:
Cache music, hide unavailable, download via wifi, etc
Back to phone settings, accounts, google
Music now appears with a checkbox for sync
This was my first hand experience with Google Music beta, just thought Id share. i already use Amazon Cloud and bought 100gb and I am very happy with it. I will not be buying cloud from Google this year, Amazon beat them to it. Im still interested to see what features are added to both services over the next 11 months, then comes the hard decision. Of course if its true that Google is deleting pirated music, that makes up my mind. Ill know soon enough I guess.

Useful feedback, thanks for sharing! Can you confirm that with music 3.0: in landscape, there is no pull down notifications menu at the top of the screen; and if you have the Moto Atrix Car Dock, the large music thumb button does not work. I mention this as the later is the main reason why I backreved to music 2.0 player. Thanks.

Time to start uploading.
Grrrr. Still waiting for my invite. Although I'm not looking forward to waiting for 20k songs to upload on my 1.5 /s internet service. That and I have to figure out ~7k songs to skip

Tip: You don't have to upload all of them at once. You can upload it, shut down computer, turn it back on later and it will resume.

Last month it took me like 12 days to upload 80GB music to Amazon from my ****ty HP laptop on Charters 16down/2up. I didn't think my laptop would make it, I could have literally cooked eggs on it for almost 2 weeks straight!

Ensure that you have music 3.0 from the market installed. You may need to resart your phone. Then launch the music app and go to settings. From there you need to select "Google Account" and the choose the specific named account that you want to add music sync. That should do it.
I have the a Grooveshark subscription and also the app on my phone. However the app is seriously lacking functions and brimming with bugs!
My question is this- is there another music app out there which has grooveshark integration? I basically just want to be able to sync playlists, offline songs/playlists and listen to them on shuffle!
Thanks in advance!
Cheers, i think last.fm works slightly differently to what im looking for.
Also thanks for the link but id take it down if i were you XDA mods dont take kindly to cracked app links! Just a word of warning! Thanks anyway though.
Hello Everyone,
I just recently switched from an iPhone 4S and to a Galaxy Nexus on Verizon. So far I'm enjoying my experience. I experimented with Android in the past by buying a Nexus One when it was first released. Didn't enjoy the experience for a few reasons, but my main concern was with the way Android handled music. We're talking Eclair and Froyo days, now.
Recently, I ordered a beat-up, used Nexus One to travel overseas and found that Gingerbread had ironed out a lot of the music woes than it's firmware predecessors had. Mainly, the "unknown artist" thing, that I couldn't find any help.
Right now, I'm searching for a good music player that has specific features. Remember I'm an iOS user, and some of this stuff they had in their stock music app. Right now, I'm using "Android Music", not "Google Music", mind you. The reason for this, is because I'm familiar with it from my N1 days. I know there are better apps out there, but I don't want to download 100 apps that don't do exactly, or at least mostly want I want to do.
So here's the meat of the conversation, I'm looking for a music player that can do the following:
1. Transition between songs to be seamless, if the song is meant to blend into the next. (I don't want a stuttering version of Dark Side of the Moon)
2. Audio ducking. When I receive a message or an email, the music player I have now stops the song entirely. It's a jolt especially if you're driving and really annoying. This app needs to have audio ducking.
3. The ability to have voice control. I want to be able to hit the google mic button and say, "Play "Paranoid Android" by Radiohead" and it will play (sort of like what Siri does). But, as of iOS5, a huge annoyance I had with Siri is that she played JUST that song and didn't transition to the rest of the album. I've been testing beta 2 of iOS6 and it looks to have been fixed now. But I want that iOS6 feature with voice control. I know there are apps that do that, because my GN says there are when I try to request a certain song.
The rest of these are nice, but not deal breakers:
4. Perhaps a way to play audible formatted audiobooks? I'm not sure of the Android Version of the Audible app can download them offline, but I'd love to continue my audiobook addiction with Android.
5. A good, easy to use UI. Going from a 3.5 inch to a 4.6 inch phone is a big transition. I drive a good distance to work, and I want to be able to change songs and such without pancaking your grandma.
Those are my requests. I know that the Google Music app seems to have replaced the old music app that I'm using, but I don't want to use Google Music as my main driver. For a while now, I've been uploading to GM and I know there is an ability to download them offline. It's cool feature if I'm in a bunch, but I don't want to have to do that all the time. I like keeping a significant amount of songs on my phone at all times, and I don't want to have to scroll through a bunch of stuff I'm not currently listening in heavy rotation. It wastes time and remember, your grandma's life is at stake if I'm behind the wheel.
It sounds sort of picky, but I'd expect that from a lot of Android users, because I was picky on iOS. I jailbroke the very first iPhone even before it had an app store, and I did it every time I had the chance. I love options. At this point it seems like the stock app for music on Android is not cutting it for me, but I know there are options out there. Please advise, and thank you very much for your help, and reading my ramblings.
Hi,
I have been a silent reader/observer of xda forums for a long time now and I thank everyone of the awesome developers out there for giving such good ROMs.
I've been meaning to ask this question for a long time but I was delaying it hoping I can get an answer for it myself. But today after spending close to 5 hrs on this with no answer I decided to ask it here.
I'm a music fan and I'd like to listen to it on my phone as well. I have an HTC One XL with the latest Viper ROM.
I have tried the following options.
1. Downloaded numerous apps (PVStar, NextVid and the likes). Some worked but not to my satisfaction. They're either very laggy or buggy or have unattractive UI to use.
2. Visited sites like youtify.com and tried on various browsers. (Chrome, firefox, UC, Dolphin, Opera etc.) hoping it won't stop playing audio when switched to another app or screen locked. On chrome and all the others it just stops playing audio when you switch to another app. On firefox it works but when screen is locked, audio becomes choppy (app's priority gets lower I think slowly). I tried to search for apps which can keep an app's priority higher but in no vain.
3. I also tried to find alternatives to Youtube like grooveshark app but it just keeps crashing whenever other apps are launched. I also tried Radio apps like TuneIn radio or pandora but you can't search for specific songs there.
P.S: Also some YouTube videos are specifically blocked by Google itself to not stream it to other apps/sites I think. How can we avoid this?
So, basically my problem is I need to be able to search and stream Youtube videos (Preferably have my own saved playlists) on my android phone while the screen is locked or in background while accessing other apps. (I know google is trying to bring 'play in background' feature to YouTube app itself but we can't create playlists there if I'm not wrong). Please suggest me a solution.
Thanks.

Thanks for a lot for the links. Tried both but the first one (Viral) is not so stable. It crashes often and a pain to use. However the second option (Modded youtube APK) seems to be the best option. I can have my own playlists saved in my youtube account and play them using this modded youtube app. The music will continue to play even when screen is locked but the app must be in the foreground. The moment you switch to another app or press home button or even pressing "back" within youtube, it stops.
It's a solution I can live with for now, but I would love to have something which can run even when in background. Suggestions welcome.
Thanks.
[BUMP] Any youtube modded APK?
Trying to bump up this as I wasn't able to find a modded youtube APK which can continue to run in background (i.e. even after pressing home button and accessing other apps). Right now the modded APK only allows screen to be locked but the app should remain in foreground.
And the youtube APK also doesn't play all files in playlist. It plays just one file that we select and stops after that even though there are other items in the playlist.
[Application tested on my phone Google Pixel 3]
Search the app on playStore: Now Playing to spotify
If you have a Google Pixel Phone and Spotify Premium.
Add to a playlist using the Google Pixel's 'Now Playing' ambient feature. When your Pixel device detects a song is playing, that song (if found on the Now Playing database) will be added to a Spotify Playlist.
Features:- No adds.- No duplicate songs.- You can change the playlist name.- Battery saving.- More accurate searching songs than IFTTT method. The app get the notification title from 'Now playing' and it removes the word 'by'.- Auto restart after reboot.
Sorry if On your phone doesn't work.
In my case i have Spotify Premium with Facebook and the Spotify app in phone and it is working. Let me know if something goes wrong please.
More features is coming.- Different playlist different moments of the day. - Are you in the gym? -- Is Google auto activated?
And Let me know how it says 'by' in your language and i will update the app, thank you.
- English: 'by'- Spanish: 'de'
cant find the app on the PlayStore.

thank you very much, thats a very good and simple app! you should put some ads in the app since we only open it to do the setup, that would not be intrusive at all
What an awesome app idea and super convenient. I use the now playing feature on my P3 all the time and I always copy the title and paste in Spotify. This is much simpler. Good job!
