Pixel UI for LG Q6 - LG Q6 Themes, Apps, and Mods

For all the people who think the stock LG UI is unbearable, and the additional themes from LG Smart World even more so, I have found that themes made exclusively for LG's flagships (V30 and the G6) also work flawlessly on the Q6.
One such theme can be found here
I have tested this one too, and it too, works flawlessly.

Icons not working on my phone. Is this the same issue with everyone?

use amir zaidi pixel launcher with working google now page and weather and pixel 2 theme to replicate almost everything including rounded icon

icons not applied
Icons can only be applied if icons size is set as biggest in settings.
LG support answered about it the follow:
In response to your concern, as you do not see an option on the settings to apply icon size according to your preference for the applications, it is possible that the function to apply icon on the device is only set if the biggest icons are selected by default. The unit’s settings are unable to alter this function. But please be assured that your preference for the LG Q6 theme will be forwarded accordingly to our Research & Development team for consideration in the future.

And what does that mean?

[Q] Unable to place shortcuts in Themer dock

Hello, newb here to XDA, Themer, and Android in general. Hopefully someone will be so kind as to be able to help with my issue. I've searched the forums to no avail.
So I'm trying to build a theme within Themer and, for the most part, all is going well. But I just cannot figure out how to get the dock to accept icons/shortcuts/Themer actions so I can put the phone, internet, app drawer, sms, and camera icons there. 'Show Dock' is checked in the Advanced Settings, but I'm unable to actually get anything to stick in the dock area... any icons dragged to that area just bounce out. I attached a screen shot illustrating the problem.
Am I missing something obvious? Or maybe the Themer Beta app hasn't had this functionality implemented yet? I've seen working docks in Themer themes ('Twilight' for example), but maybe those designers used other tools to build the dock and then imported it into Themer?
I'm using a Moto G with Android 4.4.2 and Themer 1.47. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi defektiv1, welcome to the community.
How did you create this theme? Was it created from an earlier theme? If so, which one? There might be a widget blocking the apps.
If you use the Twilight theme, then remove the icons, are you then able to insert your own?
As long as the "Show Dock" option is enabled, a dock should be present and allow you to place icons within it.

I believe it was the 'Rainy Day' theme I started with as a base. I think there were only two widgets in that one and I deleted them both, and then turned on 'Show Dock' in the settings as that particular theme doesn't use one.
Experimenting with the 'Twilight' theme, I tried moving the icons off the dock into the main area and then back to the dock. The icons for some reason ended up smaller than they were in the default setup, and also aligned a bit higher, but they did still function as they should, staying in the dock area while swiping through the pages. Attached an image showing the smaller icons. I also tried replacing the icons that came with the theme with a random app from the app drawer, and it worked fine, except again the odd sizing and alignment issue.
The dock area is definitely there in my theme; when the 'Show Dock' option is unchecked, that area is just part of the normal desktop area of each page, and moving things there is no problem, but of course things don't stay there when moving between pages. When 'Show Dock' is enabled, it won't allow me to drop anything there... any icons dragged there from any of the main screen areas just automatically bounce back to where they were before the attempted move.
Went ahead and attached a copy of the zip in case it might be helpful.
Thanks a lot for the help, this could be really fun if I can just get this issue sorted.

More experimenting: When I first started building this theme, I had set the desktop grid size to 8x16 on the recommendation of the article "How to correctly lay out and anchor your themes" on the themerapp.com site. Thinking that might be related to this issue, I tried setting the grid to 5x8, what I assume is the default for my phone, and now the dock area is working as it should. So it seems changing the grid size has something to do with this issue. The smaller size and higher positioning of icons only happens when initially dragging them onto the dock from the main screen area. Once I selected a new Themer action to put on a home screen, the icons on the dock correctly re-sized and re-positioned automatically. Attached an image sequence to illustrate. Hope this helps find the bugs so I can use other grid sizes with the dock.
thank you: Good:

Once I passed your errors onto the developers, they told me that they were aware of both issues and that a fix would arrive soon. The latest update (now 1.49) should have been the update to fix these problems If you run into any other bugs, please let us know!

OK, just tried with the update and the dock is working now with an 8x16 grid. Cool, thanks!

G Theme 3
Click me for Video Promo
t's back!!! This is G Theme 3. Why G Theme you ask? Well I think you can figure that out when you use it what it's all about. This theme is a premium quality theme like no other Home theme+. What you see is what you get and that is quality and attention to details! G Theme 3 is a dark theme with beautiful colors and designs throughout it. The Dark Notifications compliment the ui and battery life! This theme supports adaptive icons and I recommended choosing circle which is unlocked as a feature and can be accessed from going into the settings application and then going into display, home and choose the icon shape. Due to this the music app does have a light overlay at the bottom which is a bug that LG should address!!! For real LG fix that will ya.
Now this is the important part. This theme is only for LG devices running UX 6, Android 8.0 Oreo. If you are running a different LG UX or android version this will not work and if you upgrade from the above this theme may not work properly. It is presented on an "as is basis". I do my best to try and update to allow for the theme to function on all devices as best I can and as soon as I can. However due to LG's interesting update cycle sometimes one device may update prior to others.
To apply the theme simply go into settings/display and select themes. From there select Twilight, and push apply! then reboot and then reapply the theme again. It's a bit more in depth than other themes but given the complexity of this premium theme it is required for all elements to be themed properly.
That's it! Simple, easy and quick.
The theme comes with a coral wallpaper but if you'd like to have it animated simply grab this add on and set it as a live wallpaper and you'll be all set. Since most Lg Devices don't support seamless wallpapers just download this and install it and set as your live wall and enjoy!
Live Wallpaper right Here!!!
Please note that refunds will not be given for installations on non UX 6 (running Oreo) Devices. As the title of the theme clearly indicates which device this is for and this app description does specify which OS version is supported..
This theme is also meant to run at the highest resolution, with the lowest stock setting for the actual display size. Larger sizes may cause some elements to look slightly off. If this happens please lower the display sizes of the iconography.
If you run into any issues please send me an email directly instead of leaving a poor rating. Often I am very quick to reply and great to solve any issues. The review system is not meant to be a support channel!
Thank you so much for your support and I hope you enjoy this theme. I've worked extremely hard on this and by far it was the most challenging and time consuming project I've ever made!
Twilight
See bottom of description for Quick Settings and Dialer Add-on Patches!
This is Twilight an LG Home+ theme for your LG V20, G6, V30, G5 running Oreo only (Pie is not yet supported!!!) This theme is a premium quality theme like no other Home theme+. What you see is what you get and that is quality and attention to details! Twilight is a dark theme with bright gradient accents throughout. This theme does not support adaptive icons as some of the key features of this theme are blocked by enabling the adaptive icons. If you'd prefer adaptive you will need to use a 3rd party launcher like Hyperion.
3rd party Quick Settings Icons:
Some apps allow the user to add a shortcut activity to the quick settings panel. This is not supported by this theme whatsoever. If you decided to add any icons to your quick settings panel they will not show up. They will be 100% transparent. They cannot be added. If this bothers you then in a future update I will make an add-on quick settings patch that will add usability back for them, however it will sacrifice the creativity of the current structure of both styles of available quick settings icons. It will be more minimal and all the icons will be the same color like how most themes are. Due to the complexity and advanced nature of this theme this is something that I am aware of and have embraced 100%.
To apply the theme simply go into settings/display and select themes. From there select Twilight, and push apply!
Please note that refunds will not be given for installations on non LG V20, G6, V30, G5 Oreo Devices. The title of the theme clearly indicates which device this is for and the description also specify which OS version is supported..
This theme is also meant to run at the highest resolution, with the lowest stock setting for the actual display size. Larger sizes may cause some elements to look slightly off. If this happens please lower the display sizes of the iconography.
If you run into any issues please send me an email directly instead of leaving a poor rating. Often I am very quick to reply (unless I'm sleeping and you're in a different time zone) and great to solve any issues. The review system is not a direct support channel!
Quick tip... Search and install the app "Quick Shortcut Maker" on google play. Install, then set a 1x1 quick shortcut maker widget and drag it on your home screen. Then in the activities tab, scroll down to "Themes", expand it. touch 1st option at the top of the list that doesn't have and upwards arrow. Hit Create" button at the bottom and now you have a themes app shortcut.
This theme as you can see from the screen previews shows two different styles of Quick Settings icons. This is because I designed both styles and had a tough time deciding on which ones to go with so I decided to make them both. Minimum are default. If you wish to change them simply install the corresponding patch to the style that you want. After you've installed the patch, apply the default LG theme. Then reboot and reapply the theme. If you wish to change back the original style you can repeat the above process using the other patch. I've uploaded and clearly labeled both patches. They can be found here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=288986
There is also a patch for the V20/G5 and G6/V30 for the dialer. Because these devices have a different screen resolution I could not make a universal round dialer app. I had to make it just plain black by default but you can install a patch for it as well. These are in the same folder as the quick settings add-ons in the above link. To apply them follow the same steps. V20/G6 Dialer: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=288982
V30/G6 Dialer: ttps://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=288984
Thank you so much for your support and I hope you enjoy this theme. I've worked extremely hard on this and by far it was the most challenging and time consuming project I've ever made!
Pixel Experience Dark
Welcome to the dark side. This is Pixel Experience Dark! Including dark notifications! I'm really proud of this and how it turned out! Please take the time to read the app description as there is some important information in there for your benefit which will help you get the best experience out of this theme! Also in the description are optional patches which are theme specific!
So go get it and please drop me a quick rating and if you'd also be so kind to give this a quick share too that would be great!

Hey Guys, It's me again. I figured it would be easiest and more organized if I made my own thread here so that I can offer support and obtain user feedback on my themes. I am not here to sell my work whatsoever and that is not the purpose of this thread. Posts regarding updates are strictly for the purposes of obtaining feedback on what I do. and to see if users are pleased with said changes. I will never post a direct link to anything I make that is paid as that is not allowed
First things first to any mods who may be peeping it is important to note that I am complying with xda rules and there are zero paid direct links posted anywhere in this thread by me. So there are no rules being violated. Rule 11 states that I can use xda to get user feedback on paid applications and that is what this thread is for so I am well within rule 11 which can be found here:
11. Don?t post with the intention of selling something.
Don?t use XDA to advertise your product or service. Proprietors of for-pay products or services, may use XDA to get feedback, provide beta access, or a free version of their product for XDA users and to offer support, but not to post with the intention of selling. This includes promoting sites similar / substantially similar to XDA-Developers.com.
Do not post press releases, announcements, links to trial software or commercial services, unless you?re posting an exclusive release for XDA-Developers.com.
Encouraging members to participate in forum activities on other phone related sites is prohibited.
Off-site downloads are permitted if the site is non-commercial and does not require registration.
Off-site downloads from sites requiring registration are NOT encouraged but may be permitted if both of the following conditions are met:
A) The site belongs to a member of XDA-Developers with at least 1500 posts and 2 years membership, who actively maintains an XDA-Developers support thread(s) / posts, related to the download.
B) The site is a relatively small, personal website without commercial advertising / links (i.e. not a competitor forum-based site with purposes and aims similar to those of XDA-Developers.com.)
Be sure to follow me on google plus to stay up to date and get additional theme information regarding updates and other testing and feedback.
So this thread is for all those who are using any of my themes where we can come discuss things, give feedback and post screens etc of what I've been working on. I will continue to add new themes and post screens of my work here and interact with all of you. I ask that you be civil to myself and other members and keep any feedback constructive.
nXt
Welcome to the nXt experience. This is unlike any other theme with designs no other designer has even attempted. You will notice that with this experience you have the illusion of a slightly rounded edge screen running from the top to bottom. You'll notice that not even the navigation or status bar interferes with this. This is an in your face theme with dark tones and rich blue accents. It is accompanied by rich icons with an exaggerated material edging and shading yet it still remains clean and in your face.
I have included an overlay for the LG stock Calculator app. However there are a few hoops to jump through should you wish it to be themed. If you're using a version of the LG Calculator please uninstall it and then install this one here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634796912
On stock theme this will not be affected but if you use nXt then you'll have the app icon themed as well as the text color for history corrected. Please note that LG does not normally allow this application to be themed.
Aurora
Aurora is the follow up to G Theme (see below!!!). I was inspired by watching a show on Netflix in which every so often the camera would pan to show the Northern lights and that gave way to this idea. The results is my interpretation via theme design. I hope you like it!
G Theme
G Theme Dark
G theme is a Googley style theme with some added flair and bright icons! You will experience some fun animations and lots of visually stimulating elements

Rain
This is Rain, an LG Home+ theme for your LG G8, LG V40, LG V50 running Android 9. This theme is a premium quality theme like no other Home theme+. What you see is what you get and that is quality and attention to details! Rain is a dark theme with some bright gradient accents throughout. The Dark Notifications compliment the ui and battery life! The app icons have a slight gradient to them, with some more noticeable than others. This theme does not support adaptive icons as some of the key features of this theme are blocked by enabling the adaptive icons. If you'd prefer adaptive you will need to use a third party launcher like Hyperion or Nova.
No need to run a third party theme system any more, just use the system theme chooser and you can enjoy all the benefits of an advanced theme system.
To apply the theme simply go into settings/display and select themes. From there select Rain, and push apply! then reboot and then reapply the theme again. It's a bit more in depth than other themes but given the complexity of this premium theme it is required for all elements to be themed properly. Also it is not recommended to "Hide the second screen/notch"'. This may cause some system apps to look odd.
That's it! Simple, easy and quick.
This theme is also meant to run at the highest resolution, with the lowest stock setting for the actual display size. Larger sizes may cause some elements to look slightly off. If this happens please lower the display sizes of the iconography.
Now for the only part that real matters!!!! Screenshot all the thingies!
Enjoy!!!

Instructional video on how to apply Alpha, see below
You will need ADB installed on your pc: Right here
You will also need the substratum app as well as the Andromeda app and the Desktop client for Andromeda
This thread is for support and feedback for my LG Substratum themes and legacy LG themes. with the update to 8.0 Oreo substratum is now supported without rooting your device. Due to the capabilities with Substratum all previous LG themes will be referred to as "Legacy themes" and the primary focus has shifted to Substratum. Since substratum can provide everything that an LG theme can provide and more it makes the most sense to evolve and transcend into the more advanced theming system.
So this is my first theme "Alpha". It has a double meaning and I feel is appropriate for this theme. Let's stop with the chit chat and post a few screenshots and if you're looking for a way to pass the time then keep reading! I promise you the literature doesn't get any better, but have at it!

Oh hey everyone! Again, I didn't see ya there. You just snuck right up on me now didn't ya bud. Well it's that time again. Another new beautiful LG device is upon us and I had to get it. So it must mean it's time for another fun theme discussion and feedback thread. Now I must get this next bit out of the way to make it clear what the purpose of this thread is. 1: I am not here to sell my work whatsoever and that is not the purpose of this thread. Posts regarding updates, screenshots or other communication are strictly for the purposes of obtaining feedback on what I do. and to see if users are pleased with said changes. 2: I will never post a direct link to anything I make that is paid as that is not allowed and I expect that as users you will not post links either.
My V20 and G6 threads are absolutely fantastic and I encourage you all to check it out at some point if you wish to see how I interact with people. I cannot thank you all enough who have supported me and given me feedback and interacted with me in any way to discuss things theme related. Don't be shy about commenting or giving suggestions or feedback provided it is constructive and is done in a mature and professional manner. Feel free to joke around a bit and have some fun. That's what it's all about anyway. It's a very positive and fairly active thread. Users often give me feedback which is incredibly valuable and also post pics of any bug fixes. That allows me to quickly address issues.
First things first to any mods who may be peeping it is important to note that I am complying with xda rules and there are zero paid direct links posted anywhere in this thread by me. PixTerial
This is PixTerial. This theme is what happens when you combine Pixel Ui with some Material Design and add in some darkness! It's a very clean theme with subtle animations, with an inverted ui of the Pixel Ui. Now throw in some fresh and fun iconography and you have a beautiful theme to enjoy.
Remix Theme And Vector Theme
Remix was the very first theme by a third party non LG employee and I am very happy with the response it's received.[/SIZE]
I made Remix without even having the device which is pretty cool. I essentially worked completely blind on it and it turned out great I think. Remix isn't just a color flip hex change of stock theme. Hell anyone can do that! Remix is a dark theme with rich blue accents and tones throughout with a strong attention to the details that matter the most while still holding a minimal and clean look. It has hand drawn icons which were meticulously thought out to go great with your existing icons. No other theme has done this. With Remix you get quality and consistent updates and quick fixes when needed. Remix is fun, unique and original.
Here's some screen shots of the theme.

Vector Theme
Vector is a dark theme with red accents, tones and shadows throughout. Vector is a pixel perfect theme built with a strong emphasis on the vector drawable system. This means that all glyphs will look stunning and the attention to detail is exceptional. The highest quality of originally drawn images can only be found in Vector. You will not find anything like it anywhere else. Like Remix, Vector is the only other theme that has original hand drawn iconography throughout it with a material feel to it that can easily blend in with your regular icons. The details are like eye candy and something to show off to your friends. It is a premium theme that is bold, clean and unique. Vector pushes the envelope and experiments with things you simply won't find from other designers. Original concepts and ideas start here.

Remix Light
This is Remix Light, a premium overlay theme. You will find a lighter, cleaner version of the hit theme Remix. This theme is crisp, soothing and visually stunning. A theme that makes you feel relaxed and enjoy the light side of things. Remix light utilizes code based glyphs for a pixel perfect style that is of the highest resolution. More hand crafted iconography throughout the overlays make for a pleasant user experience. Remix light give you that total perfection you've come to know from other projects. Remix light continues where Vector left off and pushes the envelope on what can be done in a theme and builds on new original ideas and unheard of concepts that has yet to be done by anyone else. You will be introduced to some of the most intricate, dynamic and challenging code based images that have ever been done or attempted.

I'm going to tell you a story. Close your eyes because you're about to embark on a journey of the senses that everyone will be talking about. Let your eyes guide you through the zest from the freshly grated oranges as you dabble into a marriage where darkness dances with the brightness of the fire. Pixel Ui
Need a new theme??? ...............Like new new?
The world's first LG theme with true material keyboard new?
Welcome to Pixel Ui. This is my take on the Pixel color pallet. What you will find is the high standards and attention to the small details that you have come to expect from my designs. I believe I have preserved the look quite nicely in a soothing and all familiar style that deep down you have longed for. So let's transform your phone into something new.
This is not a 100% complete replica of every element of the Pixel as there are limitations to what can be done in a light theme. There are a few elements such as the quick settings that must remain light. I have pushed this theme as far as it can be pushed and no other designer would even attempt such a difficult style. You will also see the first ever material style keyboard on presented via LG keyboard. Many have attempted but not achieved the correct look. These high standards are what I set for myself to give you the best possible experience and the highest quality of themes and support.
Here's some screen shots of the theme.

Dark Nougat
Welcome to Dark Nougat. A crisp, dark nougat style theme with teal accents that is simply stunning. You will find exceptional attention to detail and just the right amount of darkness to be able to take in the shadows and depth of material design.
This is a dark material style theme for The LG system apps accented in a teal ensemble. You will find an incredibly refreshing crisp, clean look with a familiar material tone and stock nougat style icons to enhance your user experience. You can expect to see dark tones with subtle dark material accents throughout . Please keep in mind that this is only for LG System apps and does not support third party apps. If you wish to have third party apps themed you will need to use alternative methods.
Stock LG launcher is recommended for best results! Third party launchers may present issues with applying the icons.

I use XDA Labs (using it right now). But I'm a little confused what you mean. (guess XDA doesn't like strike through. I figured it out)
I used to have PayPal, and that was my payment method, but they decided to shut down student accounts, so i need to figure something else out.

I would love something as simple as colorizing the emoji icon subjects that are ontop the Google keyboard. Nevermind the red circles.
I prefer the clean/crisp looking themes, not the red/green/blued out themes. However, I still did purchase all of your themes.

Anyone have a stock lg theme apk to share, or willing to share a V30 theme source?

Hi themers,
Just picked up a V30 and desperately want to change the window shade and settings menu backgrounds to black. I've started by taking a theme and beginning to reverse engineer it, but it would be much easier if someone would post a theme with full source, and/or the LG theme apk. Thanks!

In the themes section of settings, there's s theme called "high contrast". Wouldn't that theme do what you're seeking?
Yeah, that would fix the primary problem, though I'm not a huge fan of the Halloween orange hi-contrast switches. Since theme-ing the v30 appears to all be done the hard way, I'd like to help provide the resources for everyone to be able to edit themes themselves to customize whatever they'd like.
Adjusting to a locked up carried skinned phone is rough after coming from oneplus.

Messages app - change font size?

Using the Samsung Messages app on my Verizon S9+, I am unable to permanently change the font size in the actual conversation screen. Yes, you can pinch to shrink and expand font size but that gets reset to standard size every time (unlike on the S7 Edge where it remembered your size preference).
Through Settings, you can globally adjust font size but the only Messages screen this affects is the main Conversation screen which shows all conversations. Once you click on a conversation, normal font size is presented. Frustrating for my old eyes...
UPDATE: Ironically, when you adjust Font Size in Settings, if you swipe the sample screen above the sliders, it shows you a sample Messages screen and the font size does change in the sample, but it does NOT change in the actual Messages app. Sounds like a bug to me as they are depicting what I want to do, just doesn't work.
I'd like to use the stock app as it has some features that are unique. There must be a way to change the font size so the setting is persistent, no?
Seeing the same also. Hard for my aging eyes to see.
And also finding it doesn't follow the global setting for size. Same as you.
Same issue. I don't think you can change the font size just for the Message app.
I when back to my beloved and trusted Textra SMS app.
It changes when you change the font size in display settings font.

As I mentioned in my post, this is not true. On my phone, changing the font size in display setting ONLY affects font size in the main Conversations view. Once you click on an actual conversation, the font size returns to the default tiny size.
You can get a newer version on apkmirror.com but it wont allow updating samsung apps for some reson. Anyone have the latest version of messages signed by samsung that will install?
They need ro bring back the S8 messaging app which has this inbuilt feature to adjust text. Wonder, why they ripped off that useful feature.

It doesnt stick.
I updated my original post with this tidbit:

Hopefully Samsung will acknowledge this bug and release a new version of the app. Clearly the global Font Size Setting is supposed to do exactly this.
Same thing. Very frustrating

It's really not that hard to pinch zoom. Takes a half second. Sure, it'd be nice if it would stick but, c'mon man.
I had a problem with the Background colors in the Messaging ap - some of the themes I like to use are really awesome but when I get to the messaging ap, they used yellow fonts on a white background - nearly impossible to read. I either have to use a different messaging ap entirely (Mood is a pretty good one I found that has TONS of customization options) or just guess at what was written - or change themes.
It's dissapointing that I can't change the balloons or fonts in the messaging ap any more - would be nice if we could - and change font size too - so for now, I am using the MOOD messaging ap and while I prefer the Samsung Stock one better - Mood isn't bad at all.
Its not only internal Messages app, Viber and Hangouts has really small font in input line. Tried increasing font size, tried toying with DPI settings. No idea why its like that and only affecting text input lines, but hope some later update could fix that?
Hi Everyone..I just got the 9 plus and the messaging app is different than it used to be. It is just blue bubbles with white background. It wont let me change anything like before and the setting the background wallpaper for messages is no longer there....is that how everyone else's is?
I also switched to Textra for the all of the customization that it offers. It's a free download so I gave it a try and I've stuck with it since. Just my 2¢

No, not "come on man". It should work as designed, and has worked since GSI-II.
I use Chomp. Let's you change all of the fonts and sizes, including the message notification pop-up.

I think you mean, "It should work the way I want it to work." It IS working as designed. It's just that you don't like the new design.
That's not to say that I don't agree that it would be better if we could choose a persistent font size. I do.
But we're talking about a split-second pinch out to increase the size.
A split-second.
So, yeah... C'mon.

Thousands of people having to take a split-second to adjust for a design bug every single time? No. You're missing the point.

Wanting To Customize App Icons With My Own

Greetings! I just upgraded from and an LG V20 to an LG V60 ThinQ. Yes, I skipped about 4 generations, but the V20 served me well for almost 5 years, so I figured if it ain't broke don't fix it.
However, the time finally came to upgrade, and now that I have, I've found a lot of things have changed. One that I'm most curious about is the ability to change App Icons to ones that I designed myself. On the V20, you hold down on the stock icon, a menu pops up giving you the option to change an icon or rename an app, and viola! It's that simple.
I've tried everything I can find on the web on how to do this with the V60 and nothing works.. They mentions icons that don't exist, procedures that don's work, and on and on. Does anybody know of a simple way to (a) change from a stock icon to one of my own, and (b) be able to rename an app to a name of my choosing? Under Wallpaper & Theme, there's a section titled MY ICONS...but it's grayed out and I can't get it activated.
If this has been covered before, I apologize.; but I just had by V60 activated this morning, I've been working on customizing it all day, and I have a splitting headache. Any ideas, tips, tricks, or suggestions? Thanks in advance for any and all advice given.

I had a V20 as well. LG no longer supports custom icons on the stock launcher. This functionality was dropped, I believe, with Android Nougat. You would need a 3rd party launcher now
custom icons feature in Apex, Nova, & AUG launchers
It took a lot of will power For me to cut the umbilical cord between me and my LG V20. But I finally did it and got the V60 which I absolutely love. With that said the LG V20 was probably one of the best phones I ever owned and I still have 4 of them tucked away in a drawer. I bought it primarily because I I had not seen Battery replacement feature since my Samsung note 4. The other reason was the 2nd screen I absolutely adored it. The only thing that I don't like about the V60 is that with as big as the screen is, LG could have put in a second screen at the top and had plenty of screen real estate left over, with a high resolution that the phone offers. So actually with the dual screen attachment you would have 3 screens. Go figure, What a wonderful idea that would have been. Who knows maybe by the time we get to a V80, they might think of that.

Sorry I forgot to actually answer the question. Check out Apex launcher classic. It will allow you to change the icons to anything you want and resize Any widget to your liking. Great program I've been using it now for a couple of years. Specially like the screen transition effects. Don't upgrade to the pro most recent version because it has less screen animation effects in it. Very versatile program.
I'm using X Icon Changer. Works pretty well with stock launcher. It's in playstore.
if you don't want to change the launcher for some reason, and you want more work, then you could use App Cloner, or any or those apk modifying apps to change the icon to whatever image you want, plus also disable network Internet access and so many other options. a good one for the dual screen is forcing the app to open in window mode for multi tasking.
