Phone won't charge. - LG V30 Questions & Answers

My phone suddenly won't charge. Like the charging icon won't even show up. It was fine this morning but now nothing. I need help. Any ideas?

You've tried rebooting? What happens when you put it on a Qi wireless charger? IF you don't have one, drop by any carrier store and use one of their demo units -- just to see. On the Moto Quark (Droid Turbo, Moto Maxx, Moto Turbo) even if the charging port stopped working, it would still charge with Qi wireless charger, which was a workaround until repaired.
Luckily your phone is still under warranty, right?

I have a problem when my HTC one is not really charging. In several hours I got only 4%. I tested it with battery widget and it barely gets 10-100 mA when charging. Once screen is on, mA goes negative, even though phone is plugged in. Maybe I too need to put it face up...

Update:
It finally got fully charged with ~600 mA input. In my case it appears to be a faulty charger. Check your charger, test it with different wires, maybe it has bad connection? Just a speculation.

CAM PLUS does not charge phone!!! So don't lose the standard battery compartment!!!

So I did something very silly and manage to lose the standard battery compartment while I was using the CAM Plus. To my surprise the Battery does not actually charge when plugged in to the Cam Plus so I effectively have a large brick until I can source a standard battery compartment!
What a stupid design!
Well, why blame someone when you can't take care of your own stuff.

Wow what a miserable person you are!
This was mostly a heads up to people who might want to take the CAM PLUS rather than standard battery compartment and charge there phone.

This review says module does pass-thru the charger (but not at quick charge speeds)

It might say that but it does not! I currently have a £500 brick until I can get the replacement cover which I am finding difficult! Till then I have ordered an extra charger and battery so that I can at least use it!
Being a current G5 + Cam Plus user, I'm pretty sure that my G5 is doing reasonably fine in charging with the Cam Plus module at the same time. While the module is being charged at 5v @ 500 mAh, the G5 is still able to receive the default fast charging from the stock charger with no issues. Most likely your Cam Plus module is having some issues as other users are not facing the same issues that you do. I'd suggest you sending back to where you bought it from to do a check, and stop saying that your phone has become a "bricked" phone when it's still usable and it's your responsibility that you lost your stock battery compartment, resulting in what you have now.
And also, the Cam Plus is not meant to charge your phone that has zero capacity inside. Meaning that if your phone battery has 0%, by plugging in the Cam Plus Module doesn't mean that it will be able to charge your phone battery and continue using it. It is meant to be used simultaneously with your battery, so if your battery is flat, don't expect it to miraculously revive your phone like what a power bank does.
I can also confirm that my cam plus module is not charging the phone. I have it plugged in to the wall and have had it plugged in for over an hour and my battery life has only gone down and the charge symbol does not appear. The red light on the module is on however. Maybe it will charge that first, then the battery. If that changes I will update post.
Perhaps this is a common problem.
Fortunately I have the extra battery and dock that I got from the promotion and can charge my phone that way. The module is quite useless because of this fact.
You have to open the camera and take a picture using the cam plus. Once you exit the camera your phone will begin to charge.

Tried opening it and taking a pic, and it's still not charging.
I can confirm my LG G5 charges fine with Cam Plus module.
After another week or so of using it, mine stills does not charge. In fact I've noticed that it drains my battery faster than it not being plugged in at all.
I will return it and update everyone
I returned the module, and it works now. Charges my phone properly
Double triple post, whatever.
It worked for about an hour and stopped working again and no matter what I do, it will not charge again. I'm going to return it completely and get a refund.
Why doesn't LG allow the cam plus battery to be used as a back up, and not only when you are using the camera and a few minutes after??

I'm not sure, but I've had two modules now that won't let me plug in my charger and charge my phone. Something is clearly wrong.
These cam module failures are probably why USA doesn't have the audio module
Cam Plus probably has an issue with some chargers and die out. Mine is clearly dead after about an hour of fiddling with it. It charges when plugged in, but doesn't charge the phone anymore... lg really failed on this if it dies this easily.
I used the oem cable and charger and it killed it. I don't see how it could have passed QC. I sent a nice email to LG about it. We'll see what they have to say about it.

Keep us posted. I'm writing back to Clove to tell them mine is outright dead. Does not detect anything, does not charge anywhere, Cam Plus app says to plug in a Cam Plus. What a POS.
Bought mine from CEX, it died after a month and about 3 uses. No problem getting a refund so I ordered another. That one looks okay so far.....

No green led
Mine doesn't show green led, it's confused me wether it fully charged or not

Possible S9+ Charging Issue??

Brought my unlocked S9+ home from BestBuy Friday (the first day they became available in the US). I successfully charged it up a couple times with the provided Samsung quick charger (wired) and a cheap wireless charger I grabbed at Walmart. However last night, having the phone on the charging stand I noticed the phone's red LED remained on too long even though the charging stand light indicated it was charging the phone. Finally early this morning I checked the battery level and it had gone down. The phone was not charging. I plugged the phone into the Samsung charger for the rest of the morning. After an hour or so I checked again and the level had drop a few more percentage points! WTF?? Anyway I shut down the phone and then tried again with the wired quick charger. This time it charged fine.
I wonder if this is a pending future problem. To be honest I was watching a YouTube tutorial last night on how to bring up the diagnostic screen (using a series of phone pad key presses). I wonder if that messed with the phone somehow (I did not knowingly make any changes. Just tried some of the "tests").
Anyway, hopefully this was just a one time issue...... If not, I'll report back.
I haven't noticed any issues. Maybe it was just a one off. The only thing that will truly tell is time I guess
what temperature had the battery?
Above 45°C?
I've had this issue. I caught it when the charging failed -- had an error about CPU being too high/hot. It would not charge until I re-sat the device on the wireless charger.

I did not notice an error message. By "re-setting" the phone on the charger do you mean moving it around?
i have this same issues. It says Fast Charging, But battery level gone down. Any one notice, Its simply say Fast Charging. But whenever its says Fast Charging and in Bracket (Its says how much time it take to complete) in that time charging works fine. I think its a software issue. Because i tried click Fast Charging turned off and on again.....then charging works fine. Some way in Software blocking this. I hope so.

Not charging recently. Help!

Im on the latest Pie build on Poco since yesterday. I was charging it fine earlier like an hour ago then suddenly it stopped charging at 80%. It won't charge anymore and I've tried charging on my laptop, on a new wire, on a new outlet but it won't charge. Is this a bug in PIE or hardware? I'm using the stock fast charger.
Edit: My phone still gets recognized by my laptop and I can do everything with it, except it still won't charge.

If you have done all that you said you have done, then it looks like a hardware issue. I have not come across any bug related to charging in Pie.
Have you tried any other charger, even an ordinary charger?

it seems the charging IC is fried on your phone's motherboard, would recommend taking it on a service center
Does it still show as charging in the lock screen or the battery in notifications tray but not charging properly? Or did it completely stop charging? If the latter, it is hardware.
If the former, do a factory reset. The former happened to me on oreo for some reason but after factory reset and updating to pie it got fixed. Maybe you just added a magisk module or accidentally did some mod that was not compatible with pie. Either find that and remove it or factory reset

V30+ won't turn on "Charge more before turning on"

Hi everyone.
I have been using V30+ since 2018. Never had any issues with it.
Yesterday I put my phone on charging when it showed the battery low notification. and after around an hour I saw the screen blinked as if the phone has restarted folloed by the boot animation.. but right after that it turned off.
I just got worried so unpluged it quickly.
tried turning it on again n again but nothing happend.
replugged it after 30mins now it display the message and doesn't go beyond 0%. The area around fingerprint and camera lense get very hot in almost 30sec upon replugging the charger.
I don't knoe what do to do now need help.
Try a different charger. Yours may be bad. Even a slow charger from an older phone would be a good test.
Tried the fast charger no luck.. when using Laptop or power th screen shows CHARGE more before turning on. Mean while the back gets really Hot.
Tried wireless charging as well.still no luck
I am having the same issue. Anyone solved this problem yet?
It's a very old thread, so you probably won't get any answers quickly. That being said, did you try an older charger? Chances are, your battery is totally dead and won't hold a charge anymore... these phones are older so that is a higher likelyhood...

Failed charging port pcb or mobo.
Try replacing the charge port pcb, they are cheap but make sure to get the correct part number.
