Second space is a very innovative feature in miui which I miss elsewhere. The main fun is switching like user account from same lock screen with just the password (fingerprint also). Simply screen off and place the other finger on the fingerprint scanner. Is this available on any custom oreo rom?

Parallel space app is like alternative to already present dual app feature where you can have multiple account for some apps like whatsapp, fb etc..
Second space is more like multi user feature which android have since lollipop.. but main difference is in multi user you create various users which you can access from
Notification tray ..select another user then it take few seconds to switch .. like switch to guest mode.. and it also take time to switch back..
Second space is like keeping only 2 user account ..but switch is very convenient and fast ..and you don't need mi account for that..
Hope I am able to explain..
Good night

Anyone find a good alternative yet island sounds promising besides it still being in beta. I primarily use second space for its multiuser aspect and to map 18 instead of just 9 places in google maps. This is really the only thing holding me back from switching to lineage from miui :fingers-crossed:

I have used Shelter on Custom ROM: a Free and Open-Source (FOSS) app that leverages the “Work Profile” feature of Android to provide an isolated space that you can install or clone apps into.
Shelter - Apps on Google Play

No shelter cannot :
PIN LOCK CODE { X } > USER PROFILE { X }
MIUI can open different user profile on pin/password.

even lower than 3 percent I have daily active user ? (even I have got good rates on google play ) , I have excepted really higher than this .
why ?
Do Guys see any problem in my app ?
Do I have design problem ?

I am installing your app and will use it...
From User perspective:
Big app size 14 mb. I think its too big for an application.
Sample font is not attractive. Use system or Jelly Bean fonts.
My advice : Stop using Comic Sans MS font.

Dark colors are better for eye and it significantly reduces the battery use due to it's lightning level.
I can give you some links to find great fonts;

Ok, I'll bite.
Just from a first glance, there are several issues:
a) Grammar/language issues throughout the app description
b) Multiple security permissions are needed, giving the app access to all data on the phone
c) The app description states that it "checks for updates everyday", which really sounds like it is sending data at regular intervals as updates should be managed through the Play Store rather than the app itself
d) The developer website listed does not load
e) Many features are duplicative of built in phone functionality
All in all, it really sounds like a huge security risk, and does not appear to add much value. This app basically has every possible issue that people are told to be skeptical of when referring to malware apps.
Assuming you are a legitimate developer, and truly want to make a good app, you should retool it to have more focus on functions that are a value add, rewrite the description to use proper grammar, separate the functions that require high level access to the permissions into separate apps that do not need to access the internet to get rid of the security concerns.
It really looks like a malware app, and there's no way I would even consider installing it, and the 100-ish downloads you have don't really give any sense of security.

I think there are way too many concerns with permissions for me to consider even installing the app. The most popular SMS and Call Log backup and restore apps are from a trusted, well known developer, with a website and contact info, and the network permissions are only for displaying AdMob ads, and limited permissions for the all to perform its function.
In contrast, your website does not load and is registered in Iran, and your app has access to just about every possible permission involving my data that it can possibly have, in addition to having full network access. I'm not trying to offend, but I have no sense of security about allowing your app to have unrestricted access to all of my data. There are way too many red flags about what your app can do that I would not install it in its given state, especially with the numerous free alternatives from established developers that are available.
You really should consider splitting these into separate apps. If you want to build a Music Player, build a stand alone music player. Build a separate global search app. Build a separate Call Blocker, etc. I think you should narrow the focus of what you are trying to have your app do, and eliminate the network access permission so that a user can use your app without being concerned about where their data may be going. From a design standpoint, switching to the Holo design guidelines for Android 4.0 would be a good start. This may have been adequate on Froyo or Gingerbread, but from a design standpoint it appears very outdated.

This app designed for users to help them find things very fast , aslo have most needs tools for user and allow them use less memory load on phone .
but what is your opinion about removing internet premession completely . ( But I will lose app ads, update checker, lyrics load, load statics , bug reports , ....)

I am sorry but that is a very important issue. If an application is over 10mb, I very rarely install it. I like to keep my phone free from as much bloat as I can - even though it has 8GB of internal storage and 4GB of SD storage - the issue still stands. If you have to have a video, encode it to make it a much lower size before including it into the application.
I also think the name is too generic. If you could choose a catchier name or something more descriptive, you might get more people to notice it.

Hi everyone
Just wanted to ask, what are your must have apps?
I need some ideas for new apps. The only apps (except the XKCD viewer) I could think of are listed in the core apps and I don't feel like joining these projects just yet.
So if you have any ideas or if you know some Android or iOS apps which could be ported leave a comment.
1. An IM client like Empathy
2. A Wallbase application/or anything that fetches nice HD wallpapers.
3. An application to watch anime
I had a similar question earlier, you might be able to mine something from those that answered
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2105374
The main app most people wanted was What's App, but I saw that some one else has been developing a client for it.

It is my firm belief that we should have an APP INSTALL client that seamlessly installs apps FIRST! Then let the DEVS roll out the suggestions. What's the format anyway? not APK I would guess. I think a nice APK converter would work nicely then.

- What the heck is an APK? (That's only for Android and has nothing todo with linux, yes I said it android has nothing todo with linux )
- There are many ways to install an app.
-> you can install a .deb file
-> add a ppa our use the official repos and install via consol
-> build the binarys from source....
Currently someone is working on an "app store" but this is not a priority since ubuntu touch is still in pre alpha.
P.S. I am a DEV and I need some Ideas that's why I started the thread.
Some way to access Pandora One. I listen to some 300 hours a month, so it's definitely a requirement, not a 'want'.
Statement form pandoras website
We are deeply, deeply sorry to say that due to licensing constraints, we can no longer allow access to Pandora for listeners located outside of the U.S., Australia and New Zealand. We will continue to work diligently to realize the vision of a truly global Pandora, but for the time being we are required to restrict its use. We are very sad to have to do this, but there is no other alternative. ....

Post a screenshot of your app. What kind of app you are trying to develop.. give a brief description as well.
http://developer.android.com/training/basics/firstapp/index.html
Hi !
If you want to do several "pages" with different controls there are several ways:
1 . use different activities . This is the simplest way
2. use fragments. This is a bit more difficult
What do you mean? Screenshot of my wire-frames? or of the main activity app?
The app I'm developing is a File hider App. But it's a little more organized and clean/minimalist looking than the other apps that are on the market. I call it Shadow File Hider. You're supposed to select the files that you want to hide and place them in a list. You can activate that list with a switch. The files are hidden. To show them again, just use the switch. But I also want to incorporate a way of hiding the actual app. This is what will make it stand out from the other apps. You can use the pattern lock screen as a Boss Key to hide the app. Use a custom pattern - that you set up in the app - to activate the app, before your normal pattern. That way when you use your smartphone normally no one will know the app is there or that you are hiding something. But you can easily open the app and close at will.
BTW
What's the best way to monetize my app when I'm finished?

Hello
I switched from Xiaomi to Pixel, but i find that google keep app suck. Also i losted all my notes on xiaomi note app and this app was better
So i tried to install the xiaomi note apk on my pixel phone, but it gives me an error
Is there anyway to install it ?
Thanks in advance
Xiaomi seems to do what Samsung does and provides a custom framework for its apps that hooks into the Android framework. Installing the app won't work because it needs the custom framework, and you can't simply pull the custom framework into the unit because the Android framework is modified to accept the Xiaomi framework.
The short answer is "no", and the why is "Xiaomi keeps their apps tied to their phones."

Yeah, "keep" is pretty horrible.
I also wouldn't go with any kind of 3rd party or proprietary storage.
My suggestion, and this is for a lot more than just notes, is setting up yourself a private instance of Nextcloud. There is a "Notes" application for Nextcloud, that stores notes as separate text files on your server.

Hi! Finally got my S23U and have begun setting it up.
All is good but was shocked to see the lack of multiple user feature on it. On my other android phone I create a "work" user which then has all settings/apps related to work. I can then switch amongst my profiles as needed. Note that my workplace pretty much controls the phone upon installing their security app (they could wipe out everything if need be) so these separate profiles is crucial.
I know Samsung has "secure folder" but unless I can have multiple of them it is not useful in this case. I cannot mix my personal stuff that I want to securely store with my work stuff on the same secure folder.
There are some apps on play store but are either non-standard (eg. Parallel Space) or not maintained (eg. Island).
Appreciate any suggestions.
Get a second work phone. I definitely wouldn't put their junkware on my personal phone!

Best to keep work and personal phones separate for a variety of reasons. Or simply only use/carry the work phone when at work. If your employer requires a work phone they should supply it... otherwise they shouldn't set requirements for a employee purchased phone.

Just common sense. Keep your personal and business lives separate as much as possible.
Businesses are malware targets as well. You have no choice but to download business related e-docs. On my personal devices I closely monitor any downloads. Only installed 3rd party apps carry a higher risk of infection.

That's exactly what Profiles do. They isolate and keep apps and their data separate, and do not allow apps in one profile to access data on another profile.

It also slows the phone's performance down. You're still using the same sim, ip address, hardware; not near enough isolation. I don't like the plan, sorry.

My S23U does have a Work profile (see attached screenshot) and, separately, a Secure Folder. They are not the same thing. It's basically like having three profiles on one device. My employer can only see the data in my Work profile.

It also slows the phone's performance down. You're still using the same sim, ip address, hardware; not near enough isolation. I don't like the plan, sorry.

I haven't seen any performance drop. You can turn OFF work profile when required, and that will disable access completely.

I'm having issues enabling the work profile. How did you do it?
I was able to get it to work by using Island instead of Shelter

I was able to get it to work by using the "Island" app. I've used "Shelter" for years but I don't think it's being developed anymore so I tried Island and it works.

Their app was updated February of last year. My understanding is since these apps (Shelter/Island) are only making the work profile more accessible, there isn't a lot of development unless there is a major underlying change to the OS or Work Profile framework like with Android 13. The Android 13 beta was released February 10, 2022 and the last Island update was February 22, 2022.

My preferred app for this is Shelter and I thought they abandoned it, but it looks like they update their app on F-Droid.
Shelter | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository

@King-ish Thanks! Went with the FOSS implementation of Island at Insular.
Have the work profile setup.
