I've been at this for around 7 hours now, I've looked up dozens upon dozens of guides and downloaded a handful of utilities to help me root this phone, but no matter what I do, I can't get it to work. I've tried the "One-Click Root" Programs, I've tried to revert to ZV4, and I even tried to find a workaround to install TWRP or Cyanogen Mod without root access, but I simply cannot find a solution. My end goal is to have Cyanogen Mod 12.1 running on here, and I'm not worried keeping the factory software, though it would be a plus.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not worried about saving my personal data, because I just did a normal factory reset anyways, in order to clean up my phone (I've been doing it more and more frequently to keep my phone working well, and I'm hoping that installing another rom will help solve these issues.)
Edit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...990-zvb-root-method-zvb-rooted-stock-t3211878 has a method that I have succeeded in using twice, just in case anyone is still looking.
I have the same issue

Same issue here tried everything I could so far to no avail don't seem like anyone here wants to help
In the FAQ, stickied here, follow Q1 and Q2. Then you can flash whatever you want. It's the best way. But maybe not the easiest.
Funny I am experiencing this very same thing. Absolutely no method works to root this bloody phone on this update of android L for the ls990, they locked it pretty good, but you said downgrading to ZV4 didn't work either? I'll read what engine suggests then.
Problem Hopefully solved...?
I was having the same issue. I found a thread on here for the ZVC and it worked for me. I had to enalble DIAG mode then run the program

This worked for me on ZVC as well
This is what worked for me.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/development/ls990-zva-zvb-one-click-root-method-t3212433
Its actually Super Easy to root the ls990 ZVC trust me i have two.
I used king root latest version which i think its something along the lines of 4.82 or 4.8.2 anyways it worked i got rooted in literally like 1 minute. Then i used the super sume app from the playstore to remove king root and replace it with SU and that was just as easy as it was to root. Seriously like in 10 minutes i had root i had replaced with SU and i had made a back up. Thats why i love king root. I love it and i hate it lol
Same Last Night
I had the same issue last night on my Boost Mobile LS990 ZVC. I used everything out there and couldn't figure it out. I went back and found out that the only thing that works to root the damned thing is to use the one-click-root method (that GUI or script one here on XDA). The problem is that when the phone gets stuck in download mode towards the end, you're supposed to unplug it, pull the battery, and go back into download mode and plug it back in. That fixed it for me and had me rooted in seconds. It's helped a few other people that have the G3 as well.
It should be noted, I used everything from the one click root to manually typing the scripts. I chose to put in the scripts because then I could go back and see whats going on as it's happening. I also just got this phone yesterday night and couldn't wait to root it so I tried everything out of desperation. Root works great!
Found a solution
Just in case anyone is still looking for a solution on how to do this, I found this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...990-zvb-root-method-zvb-rooted-stock-t3211878
I've successfully used this method twice, and has worked flawlessly, though I did have to try a couple times to make sure I got it right.
I got this 13 inch tablet for displaying music PDF files.
It's got KitKat 4.4, and there's apparently no intention to update this from the manufacturer.
I'd like to run igigbook, but that app requires 5.0+. So I figure I can root this, then do the cm12 ...?
I've looked on compatible devices lists and can't find this device.
Anybody got a link or maybe just some advice?
Thx

I own one of these.
I found Kingo Root successfully roots it.
Unfortunately, no CM has been built for it.... yet. I plan to fix this.
Fair warning, though: do NOT remove anything child-mode-related yet, unless you have a backup of the system partition. It's basically an AOSP ROM, but they've tweakedwith the SYSTEMUI enough that straight-up removing it causes crach loops.
It's got an RK3188 chip, for the curious. Opened it to verify.

Great.
Ive learned the hard way! lol
Bit too late for me now, but i had a similar tab from smart telecom and i cant find any firmware for it, i rooted with kingroot and after removing all the child mode and disney crap, im having the same thing.
Ive started a thread, but im hoping i can find a patched firmware without all the bloatware and a newer android build if possible.
HI - Just came across this thread, pity I hadn't seen it earlier - I had/have rooted with King Root, which worked fine. Then set about deleting all the child-mode-related apps. Now I'm stuck with receiving "Unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped" nothing seems to fix it. Do you know where I might find the original ROM that I can restore, can't find anything on the manfactures website..
Any help, really appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Wayne,
I contacted the supplier who was going to contact the manufacturer, still have not found anything.
Someone else started a thread some time back and did the same thing as us.
I think someone was going to create a ROM for me, i will direct them to this thread.
Thanks for the update.
I had some success last night in resolving my issues with "com.android.systemui" - I managed to get into play store and reinstalled "Net Nanny for Android" as soon as the install had completed the error message went away and hasn't returned. The other "Kids" apps that I had deleted have not reinstalled, appears Net Nanny must have removed/broken something when I deleted it.
Would be still good to get a copy of the original rom for next time, better still to get an upgrade from 4.4.4 to something a little newer at least.
Anyway hoe that help to get you going again.
Wayne
I am ordering one of these now. Let me know if there's anything I can do to try to help in terms of getting a copy of the ROM. (I haven't done android development before, but I am a software engineer so I am willing to give anything a shot)

Let me know how you get on, as I am still after a ROM image if i can find one.
Going to start researching all the possible ways to get a ROM image (in addition to just asking the manufacturer). I will first do a search, and then maybe post in the forums somewhere, but I am starting here:
http://www.theandroidhow.com/2014/06/how-to-dump-backup-any-android-rom.html
Did some research, and actually found that the androidhow article I linked in my last post was the most relevant. I followed the romdump script process and believe I have the rom image files.
The question becomes, are the image files most usable in their current form, or as flashable images?
Has there been any developments in this, or anything close to a ROM or even an update?

Not that im aware of, i just did what someone else suggested here and reinstalled netnanny off the app store.
At least its working again, but not terrific.
Oh, well I didn't have that problem. The guy I bought this streamachine off of already had it rooted and everything, i was just wondering if anything had been developed...4.4.4 is quite a bit outdated, and limited.
Clay,
Can you upload that ROM image that you made? I bought another ST13 and while I can get it into recovery mode, it still won't boot even after a factory data reset. My plan is to try recovering from the sdcard before I assume that what I have is a collection of spare parts.
My two others aren't rooted, and since we need them tonight, I don't dare mess with them right now.
Thanks,
Paul
can I get a copy?
I rooted my ST13 and now I'm having bluetooth problems. I'd like to restore back to the stock ROM. Can I have a copy of yours? Does it work?
THANKS!

I am also interested in this thread, anyone know about the bootloader?
???
So still no DISK IMAGE or ROM? I successfully rooted St1316 but can't connect to wifi. I left natnanny alone, but it now doesn't connect to ANY wifi networks. Tries then switches to either "saved" or "disabled". I can push some apps to the device via bluetooth file transfer app but don't know what's missing. Could this be a permission issue? I'm lost and stressed. Tried factory wipe. No luck. Open to suggestions. Help guys. This thing kinda sucked before I lost wifi. Now it's just a glorified digital photo frame that plays sound WAY too softly.
I'd forgotten what it's like to have an unrooted phone. I just got a T-Mobile LG K7 & am looking for a way to root it. The only info I found was a long thread on Android Forums by people who tried to root the K7 with KingRoot. The LG K7 is not on the list of phones that KingRoot supports, and the results looked iffy. (ex, It works fine if I stand on my right foot, pat my head and whistle the national anthem...)
Anyway I just thought I'd ask here. I'm no Android dev... just like having the phone rooted. I rooted my last 2 phones, but it's been so long that I hardly remember the steps involved.
[Ignore... didn't realize I could edit original post... sry! ]
Follow up for the sake of posterity...
Took the leap with KingRoot. It worked fine for the T-Mobile version of LG K7. At first KR put up a msg saying there was a problem-- do I want to try root anyway? I said Yes & it worked with no other issues. Super-easy.
Well, I'm off to do some de-bloating.
Have you found a custom rom? I've been looking for va cyanogen 13 mod for a few days. I'm a total noob with this but I'm very tech savvy. anyways.... as I said I started the whole root my phone project to free up memory. I've accomplished that. I've rooted my phone with king root and I've sent a lot of apps to my SD card. But now the hacker nerd in me wants to install android marshmallow. So we're kind of at time point U just seem way more experienced St this. I have built quite a few android based kodi boxes so I guess I'm not a total noon but this is my first exposure to rooting so having some lone to at least bounce around ideas with would be excellent. Thanks in advance for your time.

Ermmm... that would be no. I've rooted and flashed roms on my last 2 phones, but I got forum help. I don't know the nuts & bolts. Your best bet would be to create a thread & collaborate.
It's important to get a rom & recovery specific both to your phone provider & phone model. Ex, I have a T-Mobile LG K7. If I try to flash a rom for metro pcs LG K7, anything could happen... it may refuse to flash. It might flash & brick. It might actually work, but why take the chance?
If you find a rom somewhere online, be careful about the source. Unless you know what you are getting, you could be in for trouble. Don't try it without getting feedback on a trustworthy forum.
Good luck... I'd love to see a good Marshmallow rom
Yes
I rooted my k7 TMobile w kingroot and then used the wolfdroid method of removing the kingo superuser w terminal emulator and replacing it with superSu. I've actually had alot less problems w rooting than a y other phone. Problem is the factory recovery isn't a normal recovery and we'll probably never have a custom recovery or rom for the TMobile version atleast I heard that u can do it w metro pcs version. Even chainfires flashfire says they haven't been testing w lg so if anyone hears anything new I'd love to hear it
@paulyd9420
I'd like something minimal like superSU & was wondering about wolfdroid. Did you use the KingRoot page on wolfdroid.com? I'd like check out what worked for you.
Did you have any trouble with updating su binary?
I just picked up a K7 at my local T-Mobile store and have been trying to get it rooted with no luck. My first thought was my usual: Towelroot. when that didn't work I looked it up and saw that some people were having luck with kingroot. I've tried time and time again to root it and have yet to have any luck. Help?
KingRoot rooted my T-Mobile K7. I did have an issue when it ran. A message came up that said something like: KingRoot can't root this phone in the usual way, but there's alternative approach. Do you want to try it? Yes/No. (Lol.. not the exact words). I was worried but went ahead with it. It worked just fine.
I can't help beyond telling you that it does work with the T-Mobile model. Definitely try it again. If it doesn't work, you might try uninstalling & deleting your KR download-- then do a new DL, just in case. You probably already know, but be sure to install a root checker so you can verify the results.
Maybe somebody more knowledgeable can tell you more.
the su binary wasn't hard just use the terminal emulator and it does the rest. I'm really surprised that Noone has a recovery for this it can handle alot. What I'd like to know is why TMobile k7 doesn't have an actually stock recovery all it does is pull up a factory reset a dead Droid (where MetroPCS version had the recovery options) and a safe mode. And everytime I've mentioned this phone I never getta response. And I do realize it's an entry level phone but I watched ppl chase down all the grand prime versions even the 530az. Why not this phone? U][/U]

Quick update: After using KingRoot, I wanted SuperSU instead of having KR processes running in the background all the time. Tried Super-Sume (Google store). It wasn't free, but it did the trick & I'm a happy camper.
Can't say that I like some of the Android changes in the upgrade from KitKat to Lollipop, tho... especially having to deal with permissions every time I want to cut/paste/delete in storage. The emulated storage thing seems iffy, but maybe it has its benefits (?)

I read through the whole thread and see that you managed to root the tmobile lgk7. Props to you.
I too was able to root using Kingroot. My dilemma is upgrading from 5.1 to 6.0. I managed to fetch a rom claiming to be 6.0 for the k7 but cannot flash it for the likes of me.
if you have been able to since your rooting , how bout hitting me up?.

P.S. I cant get into recovery mode

Where can I get twrp for k330 IV looked high and low for months

Help needed
I am on a TMOBILE variant LG K7 with Marshmallow. Can you help me root without losing my personal data? Do I have to flash a stock ROM first? I have flashed and rooted using Odin many times in the past, but want to make sure I don't screw this up since it is a friend's phone. Thanks so much.
Kevin
If ur on T-Mobile I did it w kingroot then use w0lfdr0id method on terminal emulator to replace kinguser. I've also been told that u can use superSume if u need that or any help pm me
KingRoot does work, it takes several tries and reboots but i got it to work and stick. I know it's frustrating but it will work with the T-Mobile LG K7 (K330) if you are using the newest version of KingRoot without the 5.1.1 "Security Update". If you have installed the update I cannot confirm it will work. The Software version K33010f is what I have. The update moves you to Software version K33010h.
I do not like KingUser, and I tried the Super-Sume app from the Play Store for $3.99. It said I didnt have KingRoot installed so it would not work. I don't know why, it seemed to work for others. I am stuck with KingUser for now.
I've downloaded kingroot directly onto my device and rooted my T-Mobile k7 that way.i did decide to unroot becuase I wanted to learn a little more about the benefits of the process etc. I don't have a computer to use at the moment but I'm thinking of rooting again. I've been told if you root you also need a custom recovery like TWRP. Is this true?

Hi everyone!
I know this is asked many times about rooting and you must had enough of it, though I am new to rooting scene and would like to know more about rooting.
Recently I have tinkered around my old Xperia Tablet Z WiFi (pollux_windy). I managed to unlock the bootloader (warranty is long gone at this point), installed TWRP for recovery and also installed a custom ROM Lineage OS in one of the trending topics. I must say it runs very well and love how it supercharges my device.
There are some features and specialty apps I want to try out and they require root access. I have read the advantages and disadvantages of rooting, I am not too keen on the idea of bricking my device if I don't know what I am doing, so I figure I get some directions on how to do this from you guys.
I have searched the web as much as I can but would like some reassurance in my findings so I know I am in the right track, as the information dates back in 2013-2014 which sounds very old and I am unsure if that info is outdated. I basically need to know what I need to do. Do I have to reinstall the original stock ROM and use the exploit there? or there is a simpler way to go around it? I basically want to know the tools required and the files to make it happen on my current situation, where do I go from there?
I appreciate your time for tuning in and look forward to reading some feedback.
Kind Regards,
One confused guy.

On custom ROMs it's pretty simple. On CM14.1 you need to enable root in settings. On lineageOS just install SuperSU or SU zips from recovery.

Oh wow it's that simple? So I just download the SuperSU zip, install through the recovery and it will be rooted? Does this process reset any settings alone? I would also assume if move to a different ROM then I'll have do this again?
Look forward to your response.

It will not reset any settings. If you move to a different ROM you''ll need to do it once again. Though it depends on ROM, as some (Resurrection Remix, CrDroid) have built-in root, which can be enabled in settings.

I would like to see this as well. T-mobile really locked this device down and even took away the built in call kit as it's VOLTE.
Would SP Flashtool work as it's a mediatek device ?
Likewise searching for a means to root my Alcatel 37 9027W. T-mobile seems to have modded the android 8.1.0. in such a way
making it impossible to remove or otherwise stop google news feed running constantly in the background.

This works but we need a custom recovery or rooted boot image.
I was able to get a permanent root through a link to a reply on that thread.
Follow the instructions here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...atek-armv8-t3922213/post79626434#post79626434
I haven't fully tested the extent of the root, but I was able to get a prompt, root checker confirmed root, and Magisk is reported as installed. Obviously this will not unlock the bootloader or allow for a custom recovery (that I know of) so we will have to wait until someone can get fastboot working on this device for that.
Concur. Root works!
I used this tablet today . Very slow and laggy. Defiantly needs a new rom. Has anybody been able to flash any modules through Magisk or remove any of the T-mobile bloat ?
Found this thread looking for a root method for my Joytab. I just disabled the "Modify system settings" and " Draw over other apps" settings for Smart Manager and my Joytab is definitely way less laggy. No root required.
no twrp for 3t8?
