hey everybody!
running taimen 8.1 rooted stock with the greenify magisk module and (ofc) the app from the playstore. whenever enabling aggressive doze in greenify settings, it gets reset to "off" after a reboot.
anyone knows why?
thanks!
I have been searching for hours if there is an answer for that, no luck so far.
My Xiaomi phones have most apps that came with it as unoptimized, and when you optimize them, they get reset after a boot. Same with user apps that we install, I unoptimize important apps like Whatsapp, but after a reboot, it gets reset to optimized.
My Asus phone is the opposite, all apps including Google services are Optimized, and for my user apps as well as system apps that I set, they don't get reset after reboot.
No problem to set it all over again, IF I rarely reboot. Unfortunately, Xiaomi gives me weekly developer rom updates, and I have 4 Xiaomis to update. I also like to backup using TWRP, saved me countless times when I accidentally screw up the phone (and Titanium Backup to restore more recent updates backed up).
I can systemize the app in question and it will stick, but I've a phobia now for systemizing apps.
Does anyone knows where the system stores the information we set for Battery Optimization ? i.e. which file, directory ...

After I root a phone, I would like to be able to uninstall/remove some stock apps (for example, stock Messaging app) and add some new apps (for example, 3d-party Messaging app).
Do I need Titanium app to achieve that? Or is there something more lightweight?
After I complete the setup, I want to disable/ restrict any further software changes. Pretty much the same as Window OS "Admin" VS "Standard User"
So I guess I would need some app manager capable of permission managing.
Any advice on my project? Will my phone be as stable as the original stock after such modding?
The phones: Moto E2 and Moto G2 and G3, Android 5.01 or 6.01
Well, Backing Up the Stock Content before doing any Modding to your Phone is a Good Practice and Extremely Recommended in Case of any worst case scenarios and you can achieve the same by Titanium Back or any Other app Readily available on Play Store.
After Back up, Yes, you can Uninstall PreInstalled apps or any other bloatware that you may don't want in your phone. And Install 3rd Party apps in place of stock Ones.
Talking about Permissions, until/unless you give Root Access to that App, it won't be able to Make any changes in the System. So, you also have to keep a check on giving Root permissions to apps.
Your Phone Will remain stable When you know what actually you are doing with it and what measures could be taken to revert it.

Once the phone is rooted, will I be able to block/restrict both: uninstalling apps (which are already installed) and installing new apps? The phone will be used by my kids, so I want to prevent them from making any phone changes.

You can't restrict to install and uninstall apps. As abhinavp649 said the application makes modifications to the system if you give root permission to them. If you are using SuperSU superuser app then you can set pin to grant root permission to the app from the settings of supersu

To Prevent app from uninstalling the best way is to hide it From Home screen Or Make that as System.
And Revoke SU permissions from those apps which can uninstall system apps or any similar one.
Hit thanks if Helped

How can I do that?
Additionally, can I, for example, turn on Location (GPS) and prevent the phone user from turning it OFF? thanks!

Installing an App as system is a easy and you can find tools easily on play store. Just search 'make app system' or something else similar.
Using GPS to prevent Turn off? I think you are expecting too too much out of a device.
However, you can disable Power Off from options you get by holding lock button.
To do this You Have to Install Xposed Framework in your Device.
Xposed Framework allows you to do Amazing modding to your Android device. You can just do everything with the device(Exceptions are always present)

If you are thinking of turning on GPS for the sake of tracking your kids, then make sure you tell them you are doing so. Have known a few people that got into legal trouble for not doing so.
In the end if the kids are smart enough there will be nothing you can really do as they can just reset the device and everything you did is gone.

So, can I prevent that by disabling/removing or password-protecting the option of "Factory Reset" on a rooted Android 6.0?

No. You can not restrict or disable factory data reset option by any ways even you are rooted. Some brands like Samsung gives FRP (factory reset protection) to their device. Devices without FRP easily factory data reset by entering in recovery mode or in settings.
Hi guys !
I have been using Greenify for quite some time now and finally decided to get the Donation Package in order to unlock some more advanced features.
There's no way to know (or so I think), but I guess deep hibernation, at least, works fine. However, even though "Greenify system apps" is ticked, the only change I noticed in the wizard is SuperSU, which appears when ticking the box in the right up corner menu. I did reboot several times, but with no luck.
As for my configuration, my device is a Honor 5C L51 on Android Marshmallow. I use the EMUI stock ROM (v4.1.2 at the moment) and Nova Launcher Prime.
Do one of you guys have any idea how I can greenify my system apps ? Or is it normal that only SuperSU appears on that list ? I do understand that these options are experimental, but if there is something I misunderstood to get this working, please let me know.
Thank you for your time.

- is device rooted?; can't hibernate most system apps w/o root
- make sure working mode is set to 'root' in settings
- if still no joy consider making Greenify a 'system' app which gives Greenify some additional powers if not running Xposed
- that said there are few (often no) system apps that benefit from hibernation

I am root and Greenify's working mode is "Root + Boost (Xposed). I'm confused about what you're saying though, how can one change an app priviledge from user to system ?

If you have Xposed there is no benefit to migrating the Greenify apk to the system partition. Make sure Greenify actually has root permissions. Change the working mode to 'non-root' and then removed the related entry from SuperSU (or whatever root manager you are using). Return to Greenify and select boost mode [or whatever is need to return to "Root + Boost (Xposed)"]. You should get a SuperSU prompt ... either immediately or when attempting to manually hibernate an app.

Just did all that and nothing changed. I also tried to untick the "Greenify system apps" option box and tick it again with no luck. However, I noticed that I could actually make SuperSU appear and disappear from the list of greenifying apps like I mentioned in my first post even if the box is unticked.

Not much more to say. Either: 1) you have no system apps running aside from SuperSU [seems unlikely]; or 2) Greenify does not have sufficient permissions to see and act upon system apps. Good luck chasing this one down.
SuperSU typically runs as a user app regardless of how Greenify characterizes it. You can check current status from within SuperSU.
I get my Mate 10 (L29 from Singapur) and install the 119 update over OTA, factory reset and start to install my apps (no backup/clean install).
First of all I can not install some games over Google Play, like Clash of Clans or Radiant.
Clean Google Play storage 2x and it works, so I can install what I want.
Than I can not run some apps, like PayPal so I make again a factory reset but this time over the recovery. After factory reset I install all apps which don't work. PayPal work, Tutanota work, AquaMail work but again a lot of games "is not compatible with this device", like Clash of Clans. Clean storage from Google Play and I can install anything.
So, after this anything works but it stop after some time. I do nothing, no reboot, no installation, don't change anything on the phone and AquaMail stop working. When I open a mail I can see anything, just not the message (white screen). Tutanota stop working, I click on the Icon, saw the logo and than just a grey screen. Sometimes (after reboot) I get now this application error: https://picload.org/view/drcollla/img_20171127_102900.png.html
The strange thing is I do nothing. I use my Mate, open Tutanota and AquaMail and after this no reboot, no new installation, nothing change on the system, dont connect it ro anything but the apps stop working.

In my case the same issue was caused by turning off automatic power management for Chrome which was connected with disable Android WebView. So maybe that will be helped for all of you who will get that strange issue.

Thanks a lot for your help. It worked perfectly.
Anyone still having this problem,
Install 61.0.3163.98 version of Android system webview and push it as system app using titanium backup.
Hey guys,
I'm on latest MIUI 11.0.8.0 Global Stable, bootloader unlocked, rooted, and with TWRP. I debloated using XiaomiADBFastbootTools, but then went a little overboard and removed all "the crap" using SD Maid Pro's App Control. I made sure I searched on google before removing anything. I've even removed the Battery Saver app.
But now after doing this, the problem is my notifications are not coming. It's as if the phone kills all apps in the background. Like I'll open WhatsApp and all the messages will load at once. Same with Hangouts, Gmail, etc.
I downloaded the current rom again by going into Settings > About Phone > System Update > Download latest package. It downloaded the 2gb rom and booted into TWRP and flashed. I again rooted, installed Magisk, etc, but this is not fixing it.
What should I do? I even cleared Cache/Dalvik Cache and that didn't fix it.
Please help
Change battery optimization settings
Hello,
Open your app settings and set battery restrictions settings to no restrictions.
For example, you wanna do it with whatsapp:
1. Tap and hold whatsapp icon.
2. Select app info.
3. Select battery optimization/restrictions.
4. Change to No restrictions from MIUI battery saver.
5. Move one step back again and turn on Auto start option.
I hope this will solve your issue.
this happens when I restore with migrate, it is something related to interaction between apps and google play services as i recall.
for the apps like WhatsApp, gmail.... and g pl services, try to clear storage of the apps then sign in again, then go to twrp and clear caches, hope these steps solve your problem
I tried all of the above, and I'm still facing issues. Something interesting happened. I have the Outlook app installed, and there is an option of "Test push notifications" in Troubleshooting. I tried it and it gave me the message "Timed out waiting for a notification. Make sure you have enabled notifications for Outlook in the Android settings."
Another issue happened with the Warframe Android app, where it was not able to enable push notifications.
Now I am 100% certain I have removed/deleted an essential process using the SD Maid Appcontrol (mentioned above).
How do I reinstall the complete ROM and reset all the settings without losing data?
Download apk from chrome dirty install again same apk this only happens with social media apps cozz of data restoration process of migrate and titanium...
Thank me later... ?

I don't remember what processes I deleted. They all seemed "crap".
Is there any way I can reinstall the entire ROM, reset all the inner settings, but still keep data?
If not, I guess I'll start taking backup coz I just lost a job because I didn't read the email on time -_-

Thanx. Installing Migrate.
BTW, another weird thing. I don't get notifications that there are updates available for my apps in play store. I manually opened my Play Store, clicked My Apps, and it showed 15 of my apps had updates available. I'm really getting pissed off now -_-
I fixed it I took backup of the important apps with Migrate and then wiped everything, even the internal, and then using TWRP, I installed the latest Global Stable (V11.0.9.0.QEJMIXM) recovery rom and then rooted and installed Magisk and restored the backup with Migrate. I even debloated again but this time using XiaomiADBFastbootTools 7.0.
This fixed all the problems I was facing, and everything is working perfectly fine.
Thank you so much guys, for all the help. Really appreciate it

distry flash the APK download it from chrome
A few days ago I had a joyful night uninstalling a bunch of system apps with adb pm uninstall. Maybe because I did not check thoroughly on which package I should uninstall, now I have faced some consequences: OneUI Home crashing on widget page, settings crash on accessibility page etc..
So I am fixing the phone right now. Since I deleted system apps, so factory reset may not work (?). I think I can also flash a factory rom on the phone if needed. However, it would be great if I do not have to wipe everything since some of my apps' data cannot be backed up easily.
I am thinking about grabbing a factory firmware, extract all original apk and try adb install them back, that will make the app a user app, so will that work? Also for future references, is there a safer way to backup an apk file before I attempt to adb uninstall?
Edit: S21 home screen pinch to widget screen crash: Apparently I am not the only one. There might be a bug at One UI Home's late February update.
Factory reset.
A package disabler can be an easier/better option plus you can do it on the fly as needed.
Home - Package Disabler
The only NON-root solution that let’s you disable any unwanted packages that come pre-installed / installed with your phone / tablet.

I know it works with Pie. Lol, no Q for me.
Updates can kill it so if it works... leave it be.

Forgot to mention I actually did not know the existence of package disabler you linked. I should give it a try.

It's a good app. Useful in tracking down issues as well since it's running in real time.
It can also clear system apk caches that Settings can't touch presumably because the latter leaves nulls. I was able the repair a system apk cache glitch like this saving me a factory reset.
Just protect your critical data; OS's are expendable
ADB AppControl appears to be safe as it backs up .apk if user selects Uninstall
