Upgrade via OTA to OREO terrible draining battery!!! - Sony Xperia X Questions & Answers

Hy everyoneI've upgraded to Oreo since just two days via OTA my Sony X (F5121), it turns on quickly compared to Nougat, but I encounter a serious problem of draining battery , I have already checked all the apps with background activities and optimized start of the various apps, but nothing changes, still remains the problem!
Some advice? To give you an idea after just two hours from power on, it drops by 40% !!! while with Nougat it lasted me two days on, and with my soft use sometimes even three days before charging...
Thanks in advance

1. Ota on sony usually ends up haivng upgrade with huge batter drain (personal xperience)
2. Oreo on x is not optimized, used for 2-3 days and now am i back to 7.1.1
today new update 34.4.a.2.19 release ,
flash it clean! Wipe everything after taking backup

Today everything seems to be back to normal, percentage of the battery is now at 82% from early this morning that I turned it on.
The update you said I do not have it yet, it will come. I currently have version 34.4.A.0.364
I hope that everything has been fixed, this weekend was an absurd thing, they had already happened with the previous Nexus 5 periods of a few days of anomalous draining, perhaps due to some service below that drained, but so visibly absurd.
Thank you

This is odd. My battery life was, just like yours, horrific but it got a bit better later. I'll try the updated now.

This morning 109MB software update that brought the version to 34.4.A.2.19 with security patch 01 February 2018
Draining battery has returned punctually unfortunately, now battery level is 40%.......in the evening I don't arrive with this trend, I'll have to recharge in the afternoon.
Yesterday instead everything seemed come back to normal, arrived in the evening at home with 70% of charge.
Let's see when it will return to normal ...

Let it settle 1-3 days and report back.

The situation seems come back normal finally, since yesterday, I am currently at 50% charge (yesterday morning was at 100% just loaded).
I notice that the notification LED is slower in flashing, with Nougat instead it was regular, in addition to the app gmail that always syncs and appears in the upper left icon, even this I had not noticed before with Nougat.

Volte

Since the Oreo update I have to charge the battery more than one time a day. I start in the morning with a full charged battery and very often, I have to charge again already in the afternoon. I am using my phone a lot, but I did that already with Nougat. With the Nougat version, I had always still about 20% at the late evening. Based on the service menu the battery is not damaged and based on the App AccuBattery: 95% healthy.
The installed version is 34.4.A.2.50
I am not sure, if I should go back to Nougat (without having the security updates) or if I should try a custom rom.
As it is now, it is very frustrating.......

Horrible battery oreo rom i have charge 2 time
Inviato dal mio F5121 utilizzando Tapatalk

Last Thursday I did a factory reset. I was hoping this would change something. Unfortunately not. Still just one day with a full charged battery. So I think I will go back to Nougat. I wonder if this is a common issue with the device running Oreo or if only a few devices affected by that.

Now I'm back on the latest Nougat stock rom.
Battery life time is back to normal, about two days.
For me it is unbelievable that Sony is offering an update which has such an impact to the battery.

Battery drain (idle)

So I bought this tablet a couple of months ago and was always amazed by its battery. I could leave the tablet on for days and days that the battery would hold without any problems.
Suddenly and out of nowhere, I started to notice battery drain while the tablet is idle. I would charge it at night and next morning I would have less 30%, something that never happened before. This with Wi-Fi off and pretty much everything else. I know there's always consumption but these numbers don't make any sense.
Recently 7.0 came out, I decided to give it a shot to see if it would fix it. Did nothing, tablet is exactly the same. After installing the new OS version, wiping data and cache, disabling all the unnecessary features I could think of.
Also tried to go back to stock 6.0.1 and the problem is still here. Since nothing helped right now im back to 7.0. I have no apps other than the stock ones and I'm running out of ideas here.
Mine too, on 7.1.2 Nougat custom ROM drain like hell even if the tablet it's shutting down, charged at 100 % in the evening and in the morning after boot remaining only 75 %.
Clean install with wipe and everything !
I don't know what's causing this behaviour !
Haven't been here in a while, sorry.
I tried everything and since nothing fixed it, I contacted the store and used the warranty, they sent me a new one. Apparently it's a known problem and they were very quick stating that it couldn't be fixed.
Maybe you should try the same, if you haven't already..

Phone reaching EOL soon?

Phone's CPU has been frequently heating to 60C or more, sometimes even reaching 75C and its battery has died when its total usage indicated that the battery should still be around 70%. And no, the battery isn't the problem, I even changed batteries with my brother's, kept getting the same issue while he reported none. Using custom ROM, but the battery problem was present in stock ROM too (Spent a few days in stock last week). Been taking around 10 seconds to open apps. Phone's a LG L90 running latest AICP, was bought around December 20th, 2014.

Battery Percent

I have started getting a Battery Percent that keeps defaulting back to 40% it shows 100% when charged, but then eventually reverts back to showing 40% I have tried wiping cache, but it keeps reverting back.
Might want to specify which ROM version you are running...
Mine’s still great. I charge either once every night or every other day during the night time.
(Boy that Mate 10 Pro Porsche Design looks nice!)
Oops!! Guess I should have put this under the Nougat thread. I'm running the latest lineage 14.1. The funny thing is I've been running it for a while now with no issues. I replaced my battery a few months ago, the new battery holds a good charge and haven't had any issues with it. So if I reboot my phone again it shows the correct battery percent, but after a few minutes will revert back to 40% every time.
That’s not a problem where you post, just wondering if it is a bug with the ROM/OS, or the new battery, because I have been using this phone for years while my wife and son still struggle with the puny batteries on their iPhones, which are even newer!
I still run the 5.1 from Huawei. It may have degraded but still so large in comparison I can’t feel a difference. Definitely doesn’t ever jump at all that I notice.

Im running the latest lineage-14.1-20180119, and have been since it came out. I think it might be something to do with battery, I have the same phone for my wife with the same rom and no issue on her phone.
I have the latest Lineage as well, but I do not have this problem. Does it ever get below 40%? If so, maybe try letting it run out completely and then do a full charge from there?
Yes once it gets to 40% it starts going down or if I plug it in it will show the correct percentage.

Close to terrible battery life

Helllo guys!
So here's my story: About 6 months ago i installed this https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/development/h830-resurrection-remix-6-0-0-t3792258 Ressurrection Remix mod and I was absolutely loving it. Now I started to play Pokémon Go again with colleagues but since my device was rooted it kept crashing so many times that I decided to switch back to stock rom, also in this case I wanted to get my 60FPS video recording possibility back since RR didn't have that function. My battery life was absulutely okay when I had RR, like with normal daily usage i could hold out for 1.5 days without charging it. So basically I flashed back to a stock ROM using a zip from one of the thread around here called "LG-H85030a-Flashable.COMPLETE", though I wanted to be up to date with the ROM, also this flashable was Vodafone and I needed an original T-mobileish ROM. So I tried to update the ROM with LG Bridge which was a success. Then I knew I had to root it one more time because of batterystats. So I rooted it again. Deleted batterystats, discharge then full recharge without any intervention and of course while the phone was off. After this I kept experiencing a massive loss on battery life. Like while playing Pokémon GO the phone discharges 15-20% in 30 mins of gaming. I know that Pokémon GO eating up battery since it's release and maybe they still din't optimize it. But what it's wierd that I just charged my phone to 100% then I went to take a shower which lasted about 20 mins and when I got back I saw that the battery percentage dropped to 92%. In freakin 20 mins idle time. Is it possible that I did wrong something in the batterystat reseting? I did it many times before and I didn't have any issues after it. I also tried to calibrate the battery with the Advance Battery Calibrator app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.newagetools.batcalibra&hl=en_US) multiple times and I didn't have any luck. :/ Also tried to remove or freeze some applications which were running in the background and they were useless to me. Or maybe is it possible that the ROM i downloaded and installed from LG Bridge is a complete ****? Also FYI I have two batteries, one which came with the phone ofc and one which I bought a year ago within a charging kit. The phone itself is about 2 years old. Basically the original battery should be closing to it's ending but the other shouldn't, also I tried the calibration process while I was using the fresher battery. Also the current ROM version is 8.0.0 Oreo, v30c-216-30 if that helps anything. :S I also installed the MK2000 kernel because after rooting the phone the flashlight didn't work and the MK2000 fixes that. Though the battery life was bad before it too, so that can't be the problem, the fact of the root either because even the unrooted ROM had bad battery life.
Thank you for your further help guys!

Extreme Battery Drain after OneUI 2.1 / September Security update

Hello all, it's been a while since I've posted but this is quite a serious issue and could some guidance. A few weeks ago, I finally updated my Galaxy S9+ to Android 10 after being on 8.0 for so long and it's been a decent update so far. I had gripes with SoT not being the greatest but it was tolerable. Last night, I received an update for my phone and I installed it. Didn't think too much of it and continued on. I charged from my phone to ~87% today, used it lightly while working. By the end of my shift, I had 50% left.
I left the house to go for a 81 minute walk with 47%. I usually don't worry about having enough juice to make it back home but I experienced the worst battery drain I've had with this device so far. During my 90 min walk I:
listened to Spotify using my Galaxy Buds (one ended up dying towards the end because I forgot to charge them)
Checked Instagram occasionally and responded to some texts
Took 2 pics in Snapchat
Had a short video call on Messenger
It was right after the video call I noticed my battery was at 17%, which I thought was very strange. I don't leave apps running in the background for long and I have a habit of closing them out when not actively using them and I noticed the battery kept on draining despite there being no apps open besides Spotify.
Turned on the medium power saving and within a few minutes, I was at 5%. Decided to kill everything and pit my device on max power saving mode for the first time since I've owned the device. By the time I was home, my phone was at 1%.
I'm really baffled at how the battery drained at an exponential rate. I'm a medium user and I've had this phone since late 2018. Never leave location services on, never used AOD, and used the FHD display instead of QHD along with dark mode.
I'm hoping today was just an outlier as I want to keep this phone for another 2 years, but if this happens on a consistent basis I'm gonna have to start searching for a new device.
In the meantime, I have charged my phone to a 100% and disconnected the phone and observed the following:
Within 2 minutes of disconnecting, battery went from 100 - 98%. Not a good sign considering it was just idling
The battery continue to drain every other minute and I could see the battery go down on each unlock
Wiped the cache partition and I went from 93 to 94% for a brief moment prior to the phone going back to the same pattern
This is very worrisome to me as I don't believe the phone will last until midnight, I'm wondering if it's possible to roll back to the previous update.
TL;DR - After the update yesterday, the battery drained at an exponential rate despite light to medium usage
Also, here's some screenshots of my battery usage

I know this isn't the answer you are looking for, but all I can do is suggest changing the battery and doing a full, stock firmware flash via Odin to completely wipe your phone.
I recently replaced my phone's battery and did flash the firmware and my battery is really hanging in there. My battery was also 2 years old and before, I would get about 3h SOT when I play a game (and I do a lot). Now, I'm getting 5h SOT no problem with about 2-3h gaming included, so I really do suggest a battery change. I'm thinking you could be able to squeeze another 1 or 2 years into this amazing phone.
