QEMU question - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone
I wanted to test another solution for having Linux on Android, which is Virtual Machine. I found this Limbo thing but I have doubts. Can someone tell me which QEMU adaptation for android (Limbo) is real and which one is either outdated or plain fake/malware?
One is on Android Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...be.android.app.com.limbo.emu.main.armv7&hl=pl
...and seems kinda fake'y because of the terrible "english" description and dead website link.
The other is from this site:
https://limboemulator.weebly.com/
...which also links to GitHub but it doesn't appear on Play Store so it's not "approved".
Versions of those two don't add up, that's why I don't think they are one and the same. Thanks in advance.

Sadly one topic is about rooting Kindle (using some edited QEMU exploit) and the other offers old QEMU from mediafire links without linking directly to any official QEMU for Android project.
What I need to know is which source of Android QEMU is the legit one as both that I found seem fishy in some aspect and I'd prefer not to install some malware. I just need the most recent version possible of legit QEMU project for Android. Which and who's project it is doesn't matter as long as it works and it's actively maintained.

Developer options very limited

Hello,
I have a crazy idiot version of Android 4.4.2 on an Allview Viva i10g tablet (x86). I'm unable to root it, nor to updrade, change OS, anything. A lot of apps not working. I wanted to change, since some of the last updates of GAPPS store is blocking, Google and Maps block my tablet. But I was unable with the tools and procedures I've found for x86.
The craziest thing is that IO have only USB debug option in Developer options. All others are hidden.
I want to stream with Miracast to my MiniX neo tv box, and I get black screen. I understood that I have to activate some options in Dev options, but I don't have them!!!
Is there a way I can unlock all the Dev options of Android? With this crazy tablet I'm ready on everything to fix this crazy issue...
Thanks?!

Read/Write permission in Bluestacks

Just curious but I've been doing research into this topic and have not been able to find the answer.
Has bluestacks always denied read write permissions in every version?
If not, at what point did they start denying read write?
My bluestacks version is 2.5.97.6358. Yes I know I can use bluestacks tweaker to root it but my goal is to permanently root it. I have found a few guides on the web that detail how to do this. At least one of them is right here on XDA.
But when I get to the point where I am supposed to mount system as read write, I am unable to achieve read write status.
Does anyone know if it's possible to do? Thank you

Ok thank you Ibuprophen. I will read those links you posted. At least one of them is pretty old. Do you think it will still be relevant for my version of bluestacks?

It all depends on the subject matter.
There's older information (even on closed threads) that provided me with valuable information.
I always try to encourage others to do their homework and research information to better familiarize themselves and any information is better than no information.
The age of the information only matters with areas that are outdated in itself.
I have a Galaxy S3 and a bit more than 50% of the information out there are older than a year +/- but, still applies to this day.

Ok thank you Ibuprophen. I guess I was just worried that the app developers, as time went by, changed or added something to stop end users from gaining read write access. They have released so many versions, updated so many times. but I will definitely follow your advice and read those because you are right, a lot of the old information is still valid today.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 (SM T113)

Hello, I have a Galaxy Tab 3 (SM T113) and the current operating system is Android 4.4.4. I want to install Android 7.x. On my S2 I was able to install Lineage Android 7.1.2. Could someone here give me a hint how and where to get a newer Android for this tablet. I also hope that I am correct in this area of the forum and not "off topic". About support I would be very grateful. Greetings from Hamburg.Andreas

you don't have to apologize to me...
This isn't off topic since it's located on the Q&A area of the forum.
I'm just helping you out so you will know where to go for some support/guidance. Just keep in mind that this device model does have a dedicated area of the forum and, probably, the best way to obtain member guidance from those who already has this device.
I'm just happy to help you out!

Question regarding Newer Android OS and older phones

Hello fellow developers! I just got my rooted Hauwii ascend xt updated to b180 and realized for the longest time im tired of the look and feel of android 6.0.1..
When I think of android, I think of any operating system.. windows, linux, ect and wonder if it is possible to put android 7.x.x on my phone...
However, my limited knowledge tells me that the issue is that these OS are specifically targeted for each phone so it would not be as simple as installing a new OS....
My thoughts are that it would probably be possible to get it installed but that the hardware (mic, camera, ect) would most likely not function due to different hardware address(s).
Is this correct and If so, is anyone aware of being able to make these modifications.. (Hex edit???)
Forgive my ignorance, my knowledge surrounding the implementations is limited and based solely on theory.
Thank you for your time.

Ioctls for /dev/jpeg2 on nexus 6p

Hi, everyone. I am having a problem here and hope someone can give an advise.
I got a arm32 binary running on my nexus 6p with android 8.1. I crosscompiled the qemu and use the user mode to run that binary on my nexus 6p. And I found out that there are some ioctls that qemu doesn't support even with the latest version. And for my binary, it opens /dev/jpeg2 and use ioctls. Actually in my device, there are jpeg1-jpeg4 under /dev. So if I want to add those ioctls for qemu, I have to find what ioctls /dev/jpeg2 provides. And the thing is that I can't find that, it seems it's provided by qualcomm and don't have the source code.
One thing I've found is this one:
root/drivers/media/video/msm/jpeg_10/msm_jpeg_sync.c (Seems new users can't put url)
It seems right, but I tried to add those ioctls and failed. And this code has no /dev/jpeg2. I have no idea what should I do. Can anyone give me some suggestions?
