So i found this thing. I dont know if this is an issue. But when i keep my brightness lower than full (say 50%) and try to watch any HDR video on Youtube the screen starts flickering or tries to go to max brightness (as its required for HDR) again and again. It looks like it is flickering but all its doing is trying to reach peak brightness.
The same video when i watch in full brightness there is no flicker. As its the highest.
Also the HDR 1080P 60 fps videos lag and stutter too much in youtube. When i download them and play on vlc on V30 there are no issues at all even with HDR which plays at 50% brightness also.
I just got my LG V30+ yesterday and I have the exact same problems. It seems to be connected to ambient light somehow, because it doesn't always flicker. However the audio sync issue is present at all times when watching 1080p HDR. Completely unwatchable.
I dont think its an issue. I think it happens with every V30. I have checked it in showrooms too. Its more of a softare thing which LG needs to fix through a firmware update. Or you can just manually increase the brightness to top everytime you wanna see HDR video's on Youtube.
I see the same on my V30. It's most likely Youtube app bug. It is not happening using stock Youtube app version. 15% auto brightness goes up to 100% and stay there during whole video. In recent version it is flickering between 15 and 100% during playback. Weird indeed.
In case of 1080p60 HDR stutter, it is known issue I believe. Other phones with SD 835 SoC have it similar. Google already downgraded video options in app from 1440p to 1080p, but still not quite good.
At last some more inputson this issue. Its good to see people chipping in and hopefully google solves this or Lg
I think it started with some March app update. I have tested many HDR videos in February and everything was fine.
edit:
I have tried version 13.10.55 and it seems to be fixed.
I have a Galaxy S8 and I have the same issues with flickering to
Same thing happens on my galaxy s9+
I still have this issue. Cant watch youtube without the hdr video stuttering. Also when brightness is on low and im watching hdr fullscreen it starts flickering.
I thought this would have been fixed by now

I do not see any flickering, and just tested "Real 4K HDR: Cosmos Laundromat in HDR" in 1080p HDR. I adjusted the screen brightness to 30%, but once the video start, the brightness seemed to max out as it should for HDR. Manual brightness adjustment had no effect when the video is in play. My V30 is on Software version H93220k.

I am mainly a cinematographer and I need a video camera all time with me. Mobile phone does lots of everyday work for me but after I bought Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, I couldn't use this video camera app -_- if light is little bit low then it will drop the frame. I tried different third party app like google camera, Open camera, Cinema FV-5 and more but same result. Everything is fine but the fps is droping....
Sometimes it was 9/10/15 fps
Btw, If i shoot anything with slow motion then it took constant 30 FPS. but with normal mode no solution... even with front camera. I tried lots of rom but the result is same. Even I tried some different Redmi Note 2, mi4i, Redmi Note 3 Device same thing happened
But, only Camera MX can shoot properly 30 fps. and if I modify the media profile it only affect Camera MX app. All other camera app is not affected. And off course I can see this low fps problem mainly occurred on low light (indoor, car etc...)
I can see some bug report about this issue with some different Xiaomi product from last year but I don't know why Xiaomi didn't took notice. Any Idea how to fix this frame rate drop issue ?
Thank You.
Only media_profiles with 30fps setting and 3rd party apps, like Camera MX, Better Camera, Cinema FV. You must try.
But, with these U lose PDAF focus in camera.
Original app is good, but not for video.. It drops FPS to 15 when low light.. We cant set the constant 30FPS value

Thanks for your reply. I modified media_profiles with 30 fps, even i set minimum fps to 30 but without Camera MX other camera app use 15/12 fps at low light. It always tried to enhance low light image quality, but I don't have any problem with low light but need constant fps. I use google camera, open camera, cinema FV5 but each of them ignoring media_profile minimum fps command.
Any suitable rom with constant fps ?
Hi guys I just wanted to check if anyone else is having this issue whilst attempting to play HDR content with their S9 plus or S9. When I play a video on YouTube that's HDR compatible the display kind of mutes the colors and reverts back to photo mode during playback.. not the dynamic mode with vivid colors. Even if I have dynamic display selected and video enhancer on it still goes back to a washed out photo mode whilst HDR plays. Anyone else having this issue? Maybe samsung have gone with the more accurate colors during HDR now on purpose but I doubt it and it seems like a bug. I have the s9 plus exynos model. Cheers.

Yup me too on youtube...
Hope they'll fix this.
This is a common issue on Oreo, and you can fix it by setting the brightness to max. Haven't experienced it myself after the latest firmware update (ARC5).
It does not happen on my S9+. (U.S. unlocked)
Hopefully they fix this.. it comes and goes . Sometimes it's fine and others it reverts back to photo mode throughout the entire video.
Still not fix or acknowledgement from Samsung. Pretty poor. This a long with crap battery life and overheating it's not a great start.
Brightness sometimes fluctuates by itself while watching HDR videos on youtube on my SD845 S9+ which I can "fix" by turning brightness to max but otherwise HDR never shuts off for me. I have a feeling the exynos variant is the cause of a lot of problems as I keep hearing about crap battery life on Exynos versions too
I have the same issue, posted on Samsung Community on the day the phone arrived on the 9th March.
Didn't want to repeat what I said, also have images in one post to compare S8 to S9+.
https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-S9-S9/S9-Mobile-HDR-not-enabled/td-p/441848
As of today still no fix or acknowledgment of the bug by Samsung..
Boxing it up and getting a refund tomorrow.
Do a hard reset after the update, now my SD845 S9+ works perfectly.
Yes my screen flickers when watching HDR video on auto brightness. When set to MAX it seems fine.

My screen flickered with HDR videos on YouTube, I got solved with a Factory Reset after updating.
On S9+ exynos while i play the hdr videos on native player, youtube and even on mx player the colors don't really look that punchy to me and the whole screen switches to basic color mode when the video is played.
My screen mode is on adaptive display the resolution is set to wqhd+ and video enhancer is on
Anyone else having this issue ?
Yes. Almost the same here. Except mine flickers on and off randomly or when I bring up YouTube UI.

Have you tried playing the video with native or mx player?
Got two units one S9 and one s9+ both Qualcomm devices and both preform the same as you state, like yellowish tint or washed colors (only on HDR videos no matter what I used Netflix or youtube), I compared with my S8 and it looks stunning I think this is a software issue and Samsung should be aware of this
When viewing a hdr YouTube clip or netflix my HDR doesn't seem to kick in the screen doesn't go to full brightness and the blue of the volume icon doesn't change like some people have said is anyone else having this issue or is it in fact normal
search in youtube 4k hdr nature
I've got HDR and 4k but I don't see any blue volume just the usual red and white slider in both YouTube and vanced

I've searched that however the brightness doesn't change unless I manually do it
Brightness changing is artificially enhancing the video but has nothing to really do with the HDR.
Just turn your brightness up manually to full.
So tonight I noticed in video mode at 1080p 60fps there is a bit of an issue. The video is clear at 1.0x regular zoom but once you switch to wide angle at 0.6x the video is all blurry and not very focused. Once you go back to 1.0x it's better again. Any other resolution wide angle is fine. Just the 60fps I notice this. Anyone else?

As far as I have noticed, the wide angle lens displays the same issue in video mode no matter what video mode you choose.
In addition, if you shake abruptly the phone while taking video on any video mode, apart from the 1080p 60fps at 1.0x, video gets unreasonably blurry and jittery.
When recording at 1080p 60fps the video is quite zoomed in, or is it just me?
Am yes, it's blurry with the wide lens. Video does seem to be anything but good on this phone.
I don't know about that exact issue, but the 'jelly effect' is absolutely horrifying on video I have casually taken. I am stuck on .146 though, supposedly there were various camera improvements with .187+?
153 firmware update fixes the video issue completely
