I miss root and was thinking that I should get the International version.
· Can someone tell me of any problems I should expect?
· How do I go about ordering one? (living in USA)
· Is it worth going through the trouble or should I just get the USA version?

International is sweet for customization of your phone from unlocked bootloader and root, but you lose Samsung Pay, and probably other things due to tripping knox. USA version, all will work as it is unmodified from the factory, but root will take a long time to happen if at all. I hop back and forth over the years between an international one year and carrier USA phone the next year depending on carrier upgrades. I don't ever have any issues with international phone & just popping in the SIM card from prior phone and having things work on AT&T.

First think about why you want/need root.
Substratum theming is rootless on Android 8.0, there are a few adblockers available, Adhell and Disconnect Pro, also rootless.
The phone will have Dolby Atmos as well. Root really isn't that necessary anymore.
If you want full compatibility with your carrier, Wi-Fi calling, VoLTE, the highest possible LTE speeds, then get the US version.
If you want to trip KNOX, lose any KNOX related features including Samsung Pay, give yourself a headache from trying to flash the CSC of your carrier on it, and convincing the customer support on your carrier to provision things like VoLTE and WiFi calling, then by all means get yourself the Exynos.
Just my opinion, buying a phone purely because you want root, is a bad choice. Get the US version and save yourself the hassle.

It depends.
If you only use phone for Twitter/FB and to play some games - sure you don't need root. But you probably won't even frequent this forum, let alone know about it, if that was the case.
I'd like to be proven wrong though, but things like Tasker, Titanium Backup, SQLite Debugger, and of course Xposed, still need root. I haven't yet tried rootless ad blockers that you mentioned, so not sure how well they work.
I also like to have custom recovery, but this is more about unlocking bootloader, than rooting, but given that it's the reason why you can't root US variants, it falls into the same category.
Until Android offers a proper "complete" backup, I don't even view non-rootable phones as a consideration, solely because of Titanium. I actually switched from iPhone just recently, bought a locked-bootloader USA phone, & was baffled by the inability to do a complete device backup. I'm not at all a fan of iPhone, but full device backup is something it's offered since...forever. So after spending a few days trying every non-root Android backup solution I could find, I eventually gave in & returned the phone, to be replaced with one that could be rooted....& thus, properly backed up.
/tldr: I'd definitely go international

Never had an issue backing up the entire device Smart Switch.
Smart switch only backs up apps and not appdata. It does backup and restore SMS though which is nice but that's it.

I second this. Also, don't forget about T-Mobile's 600Mhz, LTE Band 71. Only the U.S. version has it.

...I find that highly unlikely. You're saying that if you backup with Smart Switch & restore to a fresh phone, it will contain all your WhatsApp messages, LINE message, Viber messages, & all the data in each app you use? If not, then it's not backing up the 'entire device.'

Yes, it backs up everything, apps included but I'm not sure if it's compatible with a non Samsung device.

I had an S7, and as of about 6 months ago, it definitely didn't backup any app data. My experience also corresponds with everything I've ever read about SmartSwitch. Examples:

If it's actually backing up your app DATA (not apps, but app data), then either it's a new feature they just added within the last ~6 months, or you're mistaken.
I just restored S8 backup to S9 from the Smartswitch app and it did not restore my app data. I had to re-login to all my apps. Android has no backup solution unfortunately. Titanium backup is the best, Samsung needs to allow OEM unlocking on "Unlocked" model you buy from their website.

As of still today (2018-03-03), the bootlader cannot be unlocked and certainly never will because this is done by LG Developpers and there is no interest in making an "old" bootloader unlockable for LG "heads".
This means no "custom recovery" with TWRP, no apps requiring root access, no "better" wifi eventually ... and so on.
No big deal for me as my main concern is debloating the phone more than anything else and keeping it updated for security reasons and keeping it update with genuine patches supposed to solve eventual issues. (The phone is old and these patches should be out by now).
=> b) If TWRP cannot be used, what is the best solution for the fullest backup and closest one to TWRP ?
Holo/Helium ?

LG G5 H820 seems to be still running on MM and at least other models such as Verizon and EU H850 should receive this year Nougat.

security patches will likely happen for a few more months, but i imagine not much longer since nobody cares about this phone
i dont backup anything. its just a phone. auto save your pictures to google and screw the rest. you cant do a full backup so why bother with a partial one.
best camera app for me is the stock one (nougat). ive tried others but they have weird issues. stock app always works and the quality is good.
if you want everything youre asking for, this isn't the phone to do it. As a stock phone, its wonderful.. but trying to modify anything on this is a joke. I did get wifi tethering to work with the settings database editor (playstore), and i was able to remove the stupid ATT address book popup... but thats about it as far as mods go.

The bootloader thing + root is not for customizing ... it is more more for debloating and convenience of usage is some particular change of setting goes wrong AND ... fop apps requiring root eventually.

If you don't use ATT or ATTGo, then the phone (H820) will not update. But, you can buy an ATTGo phone sim card on ebay for like $3. Once you get the sim, go to ATT's website and activate the sim card. It will ask you to enter in some info... you can use a fake name if you want but you don't need to. Once it gets to the option of which plan you want, just pick whatever, it doesn't matter ($30/month plan is fine). Then it will say "activated! now go to payments page to make your first payment". Then just close the browser and that's it. Pop the sim card in your G5 and wait about 10 min before you try to update the phone. It should start taking all the updates, and eventually put Android 7 on it.
The sim will remain "active" for about 20 days. After that, the system flags it due to non payment and then its dead. It can't be used for anything besides updating the phone, because you didn't put money on it.

You can download T-Mobile's firmware from LG to upgrade your phone. AT&T have their own server to host the files.

I would still spend the $6 on an AT&T SIM and give it a shot. I am in Canada and activated the SIM I've got off E-bay on a $40 plan that includes roaming. My updates work.
Would it be because the plan I've picked has the Canada & Mexico Roaming option? Not sure.

I would like to know:
I have a 'locked' Galaxy S9+ (SM-G965U). Would it be cheaper to buy a Sim and use my phone with another carrier instead of roaming?
Is it even possible on a 'locked' phone to temporarily use a different carrier?
I'm mostly concerned about my internet data (or, really my lack thereof), and how much it would cost to buy 'roaming' data.
1.5GB or 3.5GB roaming data will cost extra; $15 or $35 respectively.
I have the choice of Global, LTE/CDMA, LTE/GSM/UMTS under Mobile Networks => Network mode.
It would seem that I could use Verizon, T-Mobile, or AT&T for a month and not have roaming charges through the nose.
Also, I believe U.S. Cellular's biggest roaming package is 3.5GB (vs the 25GB [Unlimited Plus] plan that I have gotten used to).
I talked to U.S. Cellular's technical support, and they said... Because there is a balance on the phone, it is locked... And because it is locked, another carrier cannot be used.
I understand, also, from reading this forum, that unlocking a Stateside S9+ is not a good idea, because it will trip Knox and void the warranty.
Unless someone knows something else, looks like I'm sunk.

3 posts and I have no idea what your question really is. The Snapdragon models can't be rooted. At best, you could manage to brick your device trying. I'm also not sure what it would accomplish, given your problem.

I have returned from my trip to no-service (roaming) PA. I had to use local wifi while roaming. It was a very bad phone data experience. I was talking about hidden fees with US Cellular to be able to even use my phone for internet access.
I have 1-1/2 years left and will unlock this phone. I really do like the camera and the speed of the apps, etc. But since Snapdragon models cannot be rooted, what is the point of my owning this phone?
Obviously, I should probably ditch this phone or upgrade... probably selling it would be the best way to put money towards a new phone that can be rooted.
What are your suggestions?
Carriers have pro's and con's... If you are worried about having high roaming use then perhaps pick up an unlocked phone that will work on a different provider (with applicable plan through the provider) and use it as a mobile hotspot. Then connect your S9+ to the mobile hotspot and you should be ok.
TBH one of the things you should consider when your buying service through a carrier is the coverage the carrier provides as well as if/what limitations may exist. In your case if you roam a lot and the price of roaming is to much then perhaps consider a different provider when your contract is up.

The phone is carrier/network locked which means it can only be used on the carrier you got it from. Because the phone is carrier locked you can not use any other sim card other then what is provided by the carrier.

To be honest you just gave 2 pro's and only 1 con over the device, which would kinda answer your question for you... But again that is the kind of question only you can answer..
IMHO if your sole purpose on having that phone is that you must have it rooted, then this phone is not the one for you. If your only trying to root the phone so you can get cheaper roaming data by using other sim cards then you probably shouldn't be trying to root the phone anyways (not that root is even possible cuz it's not... It's just better to get it carrier/network unlocked by paying it off).
On the other hand for the most part even if it was possible the device could be rooted it won't give you much outside of what you already have. Granted I have had phone(s) being samsung and other where rooting the device allowed me to get better performance and battery life. With this phone it is the first Samsung I have had that is quite snappy, battery life is surprisingly good and overall it works quite well with just the stock firmware.
About the only thing I would root the phone for (if it were possible, it's not obviously) is for nandroid backups. Still even from factory data reset to back up and running doesn't take that long anymore. Outside of that I myself have no reason to root the phone.

I would strongly suggest you entertain/consider those notions after you paid the phone off. But just as an FYI once you get the phone unlocked (after paying it off) you can use it on T-Moble, Sprint, Verizon, AT&T... The G965U and G965U1 whether bought from samsung or the carriers themselves have the same internal hardware. The software determines what bands and carrier compatible features are active... Should be noted that carriers may have additional requirements (like AT&T not letting non AT&T S9+ use VoLTE) for specific services/features.
So if anything pay the phone off faster so you can get it carrier/network unlocked.. The phone or the fact the model isn't rootable isn't the real problem here, it's the data roaming charges your carrier has.

Keep the phone and use it until it's paid off.. Then get it carrier/network unlocked would be my suggestion. At that point you can use a sim card with a different provider for cheaper data roaming.. Or after it's paid off and network unlocked you can just sell it (you could probably get more for it since it would be unlocked to work for any carrier).

I don't like a lot of things that deal with not having root.
Google and Samsung push are trying to take over my phone, even though I have a lot of stuff disabled. I just found out my location is full on, and I always have it turned off or set to minimal.
I even had some data usage and never turned data on... am 100% running on wi-fi. And now Samsung's keyboard is active and can't be disabled.
Seems to me that I would like to stock load what I originally had when I first received the phone. I have never taken any updates and get nagged a lot.
But, like you said it isn't mine to root yet! But gimminies, I mean give me a break... I can't even side-load anymore. And that's gonna smart quite a bit.
I have entertained the idea of upgrading to a newer phone, but that would probably result in digging my hole deeper and even harder to get out of. I have 1-1/2 years left to go on my phone, or just flat buy it out while it is still worth something.
Oh, and I have never been able to back up my phone without spilling all of my information to Google or Samsung -- that's the way they like it!
So I have been running without a backup for a year now, and I don't like it. Sure, I have almost everything pics & stuff on hard drive, but my apps, text messages, phone book, etc. I don't.
I'm thinking I would like to take screen pics of my apps & contacts, etc. and start all over. If only I knew of a sure way of gaining 100% control over my phone, I would do it!
But like you say, it might make more sense to just pay it off and then sell it and be rid of it.

Your not the only one... but if that is the case then it would seem that samsung has pretty much gotten on the ball and took care of the exploits that would allow root. While in one sense it's a bummer for those who want to root, but in the other they are making devices that aren't as exploitable (which is actually a good thing).

Did you turn off roaming data? If you did then it would not have connected to the roaming data.. Mine never does unless I have it turned on. Also if your sending and recieving MMS messages this would use mobile data, so check your MMS settings for roaming auto retrieve.

This whole cloud backup thing has been around for a long time and is not a Samsung or Google thing. Microsoft Windows, Apple devices, Amazon devices all do the same thing. It's convenient for many and for those who are paranoid (or just don't want to use cloud backup) you don't have to use cloud backup services.
You can use smartswitch and make a backup of what is on the phone on your computer. You can save your contacts to the device only and you can export those contacts to a .vcf file... so you can later import them if you get a different phone (or factory data reset).

I just did... their privacy policy is that I have no privacy. So I am back to square one and I feel better off NOT backing anything up both by their services and/or their software.
I have no active accounts with the goog, or samsung.
I plan on keeping it this way.
I guess my only question would be if I did a hard reset, and because I have never allowed any updates, would I be able to get back to day one when I first got the phone and be able to start from scratch?

If you did a factory data reset your phone would erase all your data and apps from the phone and all settings restored to factory defaults. You would have to go through the setup process again and restore your data (and make what ever changes, disable what apps you need too, misc customizations) which ever way you are going to do so.
I only mention this because I do not know what firmware your running or what was on the phone when you originally bought it. This part may or may not apply in your case, but in case it does... The only thing about a factory data reset is it does not change what firmware is installed on the phone. If you have the latest android pie installed then that is what will be on the phone once the factory data reset is completed.

I have 2 lgv30 (tmobile) and my goals are.....(this is what i need help with)
1. I want to run everything locally, no cloud, no sync, no backups, no services, nothing. I paid for these phones so i shouldnt have google or tmobile in my grille mining my personal data.
2. I dont care if google apps work or not....like i said im trying to get all my stuff on my phone working from my phone and not shared.
3. I have to use microsoft outlook and the home screen launcher microsoft makes is nice... Not intrusive like the google services stuff.
Im trying to clamp down on this privacy securitu stuff thats run amok with google... Copperhead OS is great and i would use it if my phone would work with it.... I dont login or sync any google accounts but i would really like to strip down and know how to achieve my goal with android 8.0.... The bloat, the privacy invasive crap, etc.... Looks like with 8.0 you can lockdown per app per permission....
Any thoughts or ideas?

LOL. Do you even imagine why RIM and their BBOS vanished? And Meego too? Because Uncle Sam wants your data, not because Android was somewhat better than they or Win Mobile 6.5. With WinMobile 6.5 you could store all your data locally, but seems that now only option is either to disable all google apps on your phone or better get root and flash some Gapps-free ROM.

Let's hope you don't have a T-Mobile exclusive V30 then, because that one is unrootable, bootloader not unlockable, etc. (the only one out of all V30 that can be customized pretty extensively)
1. k, just flash e.g. lineageOS, RR, AEX, dot os, etc. and leave gapps away (only flash the ROM)
2. You want to minimize Google tracking ? Install AdAway as a basis with its 4 blocking lists to be added to your hosts file, then install Blokada - use the "Mother of All ..." (the XDA extensive blocking list), install firewalls (best opensource based) and block off internet access to apps. With "App Ops"/"Privacy Guard" you can fine-grained tweak which apps run in background, at boot, keep your device awake and other things (e.g. location permissions). There's others but that's it for now
3. See if you can get an app or functionality (via XPosed, etc.) that lets you see if there is more internet communication with Outlook & MS Home Screen Launcher than there should be and block it via firewall or add it to hosts file, the extensive blocking list on Blokada might be too much and prevent Outlook from functioning properly so you might need to go with a less aggressive option
Privacy/Security wise it's not only Google, it's Microsoft, Google, FB, Twitter, etc.
It's all companies together and a pretty wide surveillance net.
In any case use a Browser that supports adblocking, disabling of Javascript and additional features (thinking about tracking cookies, invisible image trackers, etc. etc.)

Won't ever be done. I'll be glad to be proven wrong, of course. I'm just stating probability. T-mobile H932 was released October 2017. This is now mid-August 2018.
1) RSA encryption on H932 is completely different from other North America variants.
2) Other phones are coming along which gets developers' attention. No one is really working on the H932 specifically, because of point #3...
3) There's no need since every V30/V30+/V30S on the planet -- EXCEPT for the T-mobile H932 has easy bootloader unlock, TWRP, root. Use one of those on T-mobile.

Why not? Somebody held a gun to your head? Lots of T-mobile users are using the unlocked versions on T-mobile. No one forced you to buy the H932 specifically.
The carrier unlocked US998 (or the H931, H933, VS996, AS998, LS998 CONVERTED to US998) runs just fine on T-mobile. Plus, the carrier unlocked V30S.
So, there's SEVEN different North America V30/V30+ variant choices for you to buy to run on T-mobile. Mint LS998 V30+ is $315 on eBay right now, and eBay often gives 10% to 20% flash sales to bring the price even lower. My company has a contract account with tmobile....similar to goverment accounts. Tmobile supplies the phones we have to use..They wont activate any phone except the ones they provide. However, phones can have custom roms and still be used.
I also have employees that have the need for two or more phones due to seperating phone from tethering needs and new bandwidth coming from tmobile. Tmobile provided ALL the phones at huge discounts, no money up front and low monthly payments.

I'm saying you can NOT. H932 does not have the fastboot flash commands necessary to install TWRP and root, using the LG Oreo bootloader unlock expoit @TxanMoe found. The other North America variants can be "converted" to US998 for the necessary fastboot flash commands. For some after that, you can even convert back to original model if you wish.
H932 has different RSA encryption than the other North America variants so it's impossible.

$315 - 20% = $252.
Convert that to US998, root, use on T-mobile with custom ROM. Lots of people use them on T-mobile. It's called Bring Your Own Phone. T-mobile allows non-branded phones to be used on T-mobile -- example Google Pixel phones or ANY compatible phone.
If your company's contract prevents that, too bad. Personal accounts do not prevent that.
Can you buy a another V30 phone and put your company T-Mobile SIM card in? Then root?

I'm wondering the same thing...I'll be going to look at it later today. Also I noticed the wifi model has the phone dialer installed so I'm wondering if the LTE T-Mobile model has phone function with the right sim installed?
I went to the T-Mobile store to look at the tab...They had no idea if the bootloader is locked or not. I'm sure it probably is but haven't seen anything about whether it can be unlocked yet. They also told me that the phone and SMS/MMS might work for a few days until the system detects it is a tablet, then those functions will be disabled. Make no sense to me why we can't have those functions on a tablet here in the US...And why even put the software on the tab if it can't be used? I told them to keep it and I'll get the WiFi tablet and just use the hotspot on my phone when I'm out and about. At least I'll get quicker updates (Maybe because Samsung) and I won't have the tons of their bloatware on the thing.

If you can go into store and view the tablet go into settings and enable developer options by tapping on the build. Then go into developer options and see if there is a switch to unlock the boot loader. I just bought the wifi model from Best Buy and the boot loader can be unlocked. I have already installed TWRP and Magisk. I think maybe the LTE version may require a 7 day wait not sure.

from almost a year back-wondering was your wifi device branded like Tmobile or Verizon? sad to see no continuity in the thread-was hoping for someone to check out the lte device in Tmobile to see if it could be unlocked or if the option was there-not many resources on internet. thank you so much-well I will be receiving my device tomorrow. So let the race begin-ha ha kidding will see and compare. I did not know Samsung has this 7 day wait period (like Xiaomi has a 2 week period). Oh well, time will tell Thanks for keeping me posted and do let me know what you find. I did see a post somewhere on xda for the tab s6 where the poster said he could unlock the carrier device (think it was Tmobile) but he wanted to find out if he could root it. I will find the post (again it was an old one and of course, my response (recently) has not got any response. In fact, like many, he did not follow up with any posts thereafter (several months back).

Hello Arudis I got a used Tmobile variant. But I do not see any OEM unlock option in developer settings (a prerequisite before anything can be done for unlocking b/l). Which software version is yours having? (maybe it is different because you bought directly from Samsung but does not make sense if it is branded Tmobile). Could be that you have an older version of Android-appreciate if you could let me know which software version, CSC etc yours has. I might end up returning mine if there is no progress. Thanks.!
EDIT: Returned it. Great price and condition. Just too bad-did not want to take chances with it. Good luck-seems that you should be able to unlock it per that other post I sent.

Well. I'm struggling w/ it. CSC was TMB btw. This whole ordeal has been a mess of mistakes on my part. If i can't get this unlocked in the next day or 2 then i'll be returning it myself. I'd rather have a weaker tablet w/ root and a custom rom than a great tablet that i have to run stock.
Current software version is T867USQU3BTJ1 / T867UOYN3BTJ1 / T867USQU3BTJ1.
First thing I needed to know was whether or not I could unlock the tablet for other networks and in order to do that, I inserted a sim and logged into the tablet w/ my google account. I think this is where I made my first mistake as I have a sinking suspicion that inserting the sim somehow got rid of my oem unlock toggle. I know I had seen it before I started trying 2 unlock the sim because its always the first thing I do when I get a new device. But between the sim and the unlock process I ended up rebooting too many times and it auto-updated itself to the latest firmware. Since the latest firmware, I haven't seen that toggle at all. When I try to flash twrp w/ Odin, it fails.
@ this point I've decided that I will never buy another samsung device ever. I've had all manner of fun rooting every other device i've ever owned that wasn't a samsung device, however every samsung device has always been a supreme pain in the butt because I can't just do what i want w/ adb and fastboot.

I agree but this has more to do with (if not entirely) to U.S carriers playing games with dual devices for marketing-only here does this go on, where the carriers since time immemorial have blocked calls and texts on tablets (7 and above inches) giving some bs reasons (there was a time they had this tablet "plan" and phone "plans"-those have at least merged at least for Tmobile-otherwise their servers would detect a tablet and switch you automatically to a tablet plan for your 'convenience' and maybe even 'safety' lol)....so as long as they do this, Samsung (even Apple which does the same thing worldwide anyway) have tablets that do not have phone-like functions (Samsung has this call and text pairing with other Samsung phones a.k.a buy two of our devices please AND have two plans (so both Samsung and carriers win)...) on their U.S devices (Samsung at least to their credit have this :"unlocked" cellular variants in rest of the world, Apple does not even have that-yes, I know there is Google talk and all kinds of wifi-based workarounds but that is a different topic.
EDIT-if you compare the older devices like say tab S and tab s2 (the carrier variants and the international variants you will find out that even the speaker arrangements are different. I delved deep into this and found that even the boards were different-the lengths they went to do this to keep the versions distinct is amazing!) folks here on xda etc kept thinking for a while that they could simply flash the international ROMs (never mind the b/l block or hurdles) but the partitions were not even the same let alone the modems, and the actual hardware itself!
So blame the carriers-I do. So I never get these carrier devices (first time I tried my hand at it-no more)
Having to perform a soft boot tonight I noticed an "unlock bootloader command" in the softboot menu along with "cache clear" along with the always present "factory reset". Which I have to perform anyway because network mode locked to 3G only and no option to change it back so it has major conectivity issues. I'm thinking I may try the unlock bootloader command.
P.S. Mine is the tmo version

Out of curiosity which model number is your tmobile tab s6 lte? I have the verizon sm-t867v model which i re-flashed to the tmobile sm-t867u model using modified Odin 3.14. Unfortunately the bootloader remained locked down with no way to unlock it. Also what is this softboot menu your speaking of? I know samsung like the back of my hand and I've never heard of a softboot menu. Curious if this is something new im not aware of since I've been stuck with verizon brands the last 3 samsung devices I've owned...

So, I've got a couple of Note 3s set up for my kids to use. I need to keep Knox to get the advantages it gives to Boomerang parental controls. I need root for running Xposed modules. Since 3g is going away, I'm scrambling to find newer devices.
I've been looking at the S8 and S9 and their variations. I found some S9+s in good condition for a reasonable price. They are the G965U1 running Android 10 on bootloader v9. My understanding is that they should work with T-Mobile or AT&T for voLTE and also for wifi calling on T-Mobile.
I've been reading a lot, but can't find definite answers to some questions.
Do these factory unlocked phones support voLTE and wifi calling or do they have to be branded by the correct carrier?
Can they be rooted on v9 bootloader without tripping Knox (Extreme Syndicate)?
Does anyone want to test Boomerang parental controls' Knox features on a device with Knox already tripped for me? If The Knox features still work, this would be the very best solution, but the app developer said they can't answer as to whether it will or not. The developer said to just try it. I'm not ready to lay out hundreds for a test that might leave me with a device I have to replace again.
It looks like originally you needed to downgrade to Android 8, but then some also update to Android 9. I prefer to have Android 9 or 10, but have read some saying that the system can't be downgraded from 10, which would leave unlocking the bootloader (and tripping Knox) as the only option for root. So what's the real deal?
I've also looked into the s5 and a few others, but like the idea of something with a newer Android for all comparability. Willing to look at anything that will work, though.

Both 9 and 10 are reasonably secure, 8 and below less so.
The Note 10+ 12gb ram, 4G Snapdragon variant is a gorgeous workhorse of a phone. The display is still one of the very best for color rendering and viewing. New ones can be had for $800 still, used for much less. New ones are loaded with 10, but used ones are likely updated to 11 unless you can confirm otherwise. Exercise caution as there's a lot of misinformation and outright scamming going on with used phones.
As for voLTE support it depends on the carrier and the model. My new unlock N10+ works on AT&T but some models especially older ones may not. Check with your carrier to see what models they support.
Whatever Samsung you choose I would recommend that you keep it stock. You can use a package disabler to easily tone down a stock Samsung... rooting isn't necessary.

I understand that tripping the counter cannot be undone. Are you saying that third-party software that uses Knox cannot run after it is tripped, even if the Knox software remains? There seems to be evidence to the contrary.

How do you propose that I run X posed modules without rooting?
I just know that members here have issues with bank apps on rooted phones. Haven't paid that much attention to that problem but Knox's status is easily available if the banking app wants check it.
My unlocked Note 10+ was added to the AT&T network by simply swapping out the sim from my other AT&T 10+. Boom, that's all I had to do to set it up. Obviously AT&T will need to punch you out a sim card for the new phones. Talk to Advanced Tech support at AT&T to get a firm answer about voLTE support. If it's just the unlocked model of the variant they sell it will likely work.
The only way you can run some apps is to be rooted. So if you're hell bent on a specific app that requires root... can't have your cake and eat it too.
My kids don't need banking apps. They do need to be able to place and receive phone calls after 3g goes away next month.
