Google to push updates to Oreo - Honor 5X Questions & Answers

I've read a lot about Google being to push updates to Oreo, bypassing carriers and manufacturers in order for the platform to be more stable and secure.
Whenever or if a developer creates an Oreo ROM for KIWI, will these updates from Google be passed directly or will the developer or maintainer still have to be involved in distribution?
Seems like if Google can push updates such as security updates without the developer or maintainer it could save a lot of time and work for the developer or maintainer.
Thanks to all the devs and maintainers for keeping this phone viable especially after Huawei (Honor) abandoned it. It will be my last Huawei purchase, but it has been a good phone for me.

How to make it impossible for others to get your source code

The Android development team is very important to have a good creative . The good creative can give the huge benefits to the development team. Especially for new Android app development team, Very important ! But pirated Android applications appear, one in which ideas fall through. How to make Android app piracy does not occur, is the developer of the first task.
Whether individuals or companies, from idea to development and subsequent market promotion.it is difficult to develop Android applications that need to spend a lot of manpower and resources,If it is, being decompiled, stealing the core source code, code embedded advertising and charging Android application. So all the efforts were in vain.
But now there's a new Android application source code encryption to appear ——ijiami(Love encryption)
This technology is available for Android application, encrypted protection: Do not need to change any source code, there is no SDK, and does not affect the user experience, and shields to prevent decompiling.
This not only protects the Android developer's interests, but also to protect the interests of the users.

Need an opinion, does XDA feel android is becoming more closed update after update?

Dear XDA,
just looking for a friendly discussion here. With Android O dev preview, it has blocked apps from drawing on the UI due to a security issue. But to my knowledge it just forces a system wide notification with the ability to turn off the ui elements, and gives the option to allow ui drawing (hiding the notification) per app and if the apps use the newer API can show up as a trusted app. But so many tech articles says otherwise. Are these really a big security loop hole in your opinion? Like for example after the nougat update, os monitor stopped working and the dev stopped support due to a security patch. So I am wondering if android is really getting more closed to security updates or is this just articles fear mongering? I mean I am all up for security and lucky for me all my apps such as emulators, settings, tools, linux containers and such so far I have not needed to root at all and it has really helped me since I use mobile payment on my s7 edge. I do dabble into rooting on my nexus 7 but rooting hasn't been mandatory, unless ofcourse most of my app breaks because of android updates, then I would have to root. So is android really becoming more closed or are these security updates actually required??

[EELO] device proposal for a ROM with absolutely no data leaks

how many of you are worried about data leakages on android ,google collects a lot of data from user and may make use of it.We are literally vulnerable in today's age of internet.Do you want to stop this?
Gael Duval, the developer of Mandrake-linux is developing a ROM called EELO. He announced this project at the ending of 2017, to provide end-user a OS free from data leakages and ads .EELO will be completely free from all Google Services though based on Android
here is his blog post of EELO project
to look at what EELO offers look here
if you want your device to be supported by EELO OS submit a proposal here
format example: Samsung Galaxy grandprime (SM-G530H) (fortuna3g)
The more submissions we get , the more they consider our device, SPREAD THE WORD by sharing this post on various platforms
if you have submitted proposal seeing this post please give a like (thank) to know how many we submitted

You care about your privacy? --> /e/ foundation could be our solution

/e/ is a Google-free LineageOS fork for several devices that is fully open source and keeping your data save while still providing services like app store etc. and it was recently covered in the XDA news and as our device is now officially supported by LOS 15.1 chances are really good to get it maintained officially from /e/ foundation...
all that is needed is that we vote for it in the /e/ foundation community vote for next device support... if we only get about 25+ votes more it will easily become number one :good:
Put my vote in for Nougat and posted in comments a request to add us to Oreo list

MicroG is not a full ROM, it's a replacement for Gapps that allows you to use Google-like services, without any Google apps(like a Maps clone). This e/ is a full ROM, like LineageOS(based on LOS actually), that also bundles their own Gapps replacements(their own Email, Drive, even an Assistant). So think of it like LOS + MicroG, except it's made together by the same developers and so more integrated(LOS preserves support for Gapps, e/ will not work with any Gapps). Plus, e/ is focused on privacy, so all of its Android code has been modified to remove any kind of Google branding or prioritisation(I'm quite sure the Android system actually gives things like Google Play Services extra powers/permissions, e/ won't). LOS though is focused on providing (some useful) customizations, while working with most packages out there(Gapps, MicroG, or neither). So LOS still preserves those Google-first code built into Android that e/ removes
EDIT: Oops clarification I read up a bit more on /e/, they actually bundle microG lol so it actually is a LOS + MicroG setup(for now), but they are looking to add more of their own services(currently just their own Email) so that might change in the future Still it is true that it's more integrated than a simple LOS + microG will ever be because that's their focus, unlike LOS and MicroG

Thank you very much, e/ sounds like a real solution for enhancing privacy on android!
Thanks folks, nice improvement -> from 8th rank to forth rank in two days... Only some more votes and we achieve first rank!
Voted!
I registered and voted! Thank You!
Registered and voted. Thanks.
Voted yeeehaaa
Nice one guys, Axon 7 is ranked first one now :victory:
Please continue to vote if you haven't already and ask for Oreo support in the comments, too :good:
I really wish I could have something like this, and still have Google Play, but maybe have it running in a VM? Running sandboxed? I'd like to still access all the apps I've bought on my Google account without giving Google everything on my phone.
My number is through hangouts, so unless I have an alternative to google voice/hangouts, I can't use this
You did it! Nougat is now officially supported... rests Oreo 15.1 version
"Dear all,

Security concerns with Lineageos

Hi.
Are there any risks involved in using official Lineageos roms compared with Stock rom?
I am not talking about integrity, but risk of trojans, keyloggers etc?
I mean, what are the chances of someone putting malware on an official lineageos build, that later can be used to intercept banking codes etc?
One possible risk as I see it, if someone uses lineageos and his phone gets hacked, and so his banking apps, and his accounts are emptied.. Even though its not lineageos'f fault,
the bank always wants to avoid responsibility. Could it be possible that the bank checks the log files and says "hey what kind of phone have you been using? This doesn't look like original......"
When reading the bank agreement it says that it is "not recommended" to install unofficial software from other sources that the play store etc etc..
Also, would it be less safe to use an unofficial build such as Lineage Microg?
Welcome to XDA.
The smaller the distribution the greater the risk; less users/eyes on it. Inversely so would be the potential targets making smaller distributions less profitable/desirable to a hacker.
There's no need to have banking apps on the phone anyway; login through the browser. Brave is fairly secure.
Keep social media, shopping and banking apps off the phone regardless if it's stock or rooted.
