Hi everyone.
I searched it as much as I could but had no luck. Is there a battery cover that hides the camera lens? To put simply, I need a back cover with no holes at all. I need to have a phone without a camera lens and just hiding it would really help me out. I searched everywhere but found nothing. Even here in the accessories session nothing is mentioned.
If anyone finds omething please reply here, I am desperate!

I have never seen such a thing! why you wanna hide it?!?!?!?
i really don't think you will find such a thing!!!
that is what I am afraid of... I need to have a phone that has no camera with me, and I do not want to leave the HD at the house and wonder around with a simple nokia without the camera. I can pass it as a no camera phone if I could be able to find something like that.
I believe I am not the only one with this problem. There are places that security does not allow camera phones. I found a forum of iPhone users that have exactly the same problem, and I thought that if nobody here in the xda-developers knows or has seen something like this, then probably I have no choice but to leave the phone back
Sorry I have no answer for you. My hunch is that it cannot exist as the use of such cover in places where cameras are prohibited would presume that the security there are also a bunch of idiots to not to be able to see that Touch HD has also a front camera. So it would be a very narrow use possibility to make sense for large scale manufacturing...

You are absolutely right....in areas where it is prohibited to use a camera phone you shouldn't do that. But I think there's one possible solution for that: right here
Sorry for that little joke , but I have been to places where it's not allowed and you should respect that, too. If people realize that you've hidden the cam...oh oh ooooh
I see your point Maniac
I got the same here at work. We're not allowed to use or even have a camera phone with us in the development department.
But thats easily solved: We just deposit it in a lockbox before entering that area. So isn't there a possibility to do that?
Or do you need the phone at work? Then there should be an possibility to get an permission or something like that (I got that at work).

Furthermore you could easily take off the back cover and take your pictures without it. So that won't work.
Mate, since my first nokia wirh pixels camera I have just forgot about covering the lens...sony ericsson and its "k" series has lens cover...but it isn't necessary at all...
Right then, who else has noticed this? I'm presuming its an issue with the sync?
My contacts are stored with Googlemail and are set to sync, which is good as it saves me manually doing it and I usually change business contacts details so its nice that it updates on its own.
I link the contacts to facebook, pictures come over, look perfect (well, alright).
Later on, the pictures look awful and I'm presuming its because they are sent to Google and then sent back to the phone in a lower quality.
There were similar issues with the Touch HD syncing with Outlook and nobody found a way around it, anyone got any suggestions?
Nobody else noticing that their contacts pictures are really poor quality? Is it just me having this issue?

Me too...
No you are not alone.
Not alone
You are not alone, I presume that there is some kind of loss in the sync to make it work faster, I havnt seen any setting to make it lossless.
When I saved a picture from facebook and added it manually the was no loss in quality.
So until there is some kind of app out I guess you will just have to manually add the pictures if you cant live with the quality.
I sync with Outlook and its the same.
I do remember when i had a HTC Touch Diamond that was the same. The way you cured the problem was to take a photo with your phone to use as a contact picture and then it was full quality. To be honest not tried it with the Hero yet maybe a task for today for me..
Same problem here.
Hope they solve it in a future update.
Its the same with me, on my Diamond I created small high quality pics for my contacts & even with these the quality is crap.
On a side note is anybody else thinking that XDA Developers isn't the place for us & our hero handsets? I'm feeling a little bit unloved

haha, ok...
Root gives you access to all of your phone and should allow you to flash new roms onto your phone.
HardSPL is used on phones and if you have hardspl, again, you can flash new roms.
TP2 is the Touch Pro 2, just another phone.
Basically I was trying to say the phone is new out, and usually when they are it takes a while for people to come over to them, but they do eventually. When more and more people come on board, there will be a lot more support.

You know what I think I need to make a retaction & clarify how I feel about the XDA Developers site & the hero. Both the comments of nicelad_uk & liamhere are totally spot on & it was silly of me to expect the amount of expert knowledge on the hero that I enjoyed with my previous winmo devices.
I realise now that this could be my time to shine & put something back into this community instead of just taking like I was accustomed to before. Now obviously its been established that my knowledge is a bit lax on the software but where I can help I will & hopefully the increase traffic & hel will bring more people to this part of the forum.

Haha, trust me, if you asked my girlfriend, she would say the opposite!
I started putting back into the community with my Touch Pro 2, recreating a theme which I loved on my Diamond but wasn't available, it was a good feeling.
Now I'm making apps for Android, nothing big, just getting used to it and trying different things.
And no problem with the help, we all try to help and its good to see a mod using these devices too, other people will follow shortly, when they see the light
Contacts Image quality
I have the same bad images quality in contact also. Even when i had my Touch HD. I sync with Outlook and even set the contact photo from the phone but when a call comes in or is made to the contact its all blurry. Any ideas?

That warms my cockles, does that! I feel just the same so I'm trying to help where I can (Not totally altruistic, just its summer break and I have time on my hands)
On the point of poor quality pics in the call window, I think what is happening is that the fone is grabbing the little Thumbnail created for the contacts, not the original pic. The thumbnail then looks like Sh** in the big call window.
Not a solution but could be a reason.

This issue is usually to do with the Sync, its been a common problem with Syncing with Outlook and google from Windows Mobile Devices. I posted a comment about poor picture quality on Google's forums and one of their development team said they would look into it, that was nearly 3 months ago though.
Can't think of anyway round it! Very annoying though. Auto Sync off for me I think.
I think everyone should go to the google forums and reply to this thread...

Hi all,
I am thinking about buying the Galaxy2. However I do like HTC Sense and the way it treats the contacts. I have set up accounts for
Facebook
Skype
LinkedIn
XING
...
and all of them are linked in the contacts which is really great.
I have viewed dozens of videos on the SG2 but I havent't found one that shows the contact menu. Can anyone tell me what it looks like or even better direct me to a video of it?
Thanks a lot
Nobody?
Any one who has it already and can tell me how good the contact management is on the new galaxy?

No problem... I appreciate when you are thinking of purchasing a new phone it may be difficult to check it's features if you don't have access to it.

Hi guys!
Before I continue, I first wanna say Im not making this thread for anyone to start any sort of fighting. This is being created based on my experience as a photographer for 10+ yrs. Ive done professional shoots and I have also had photos posted in magazines. So I can assure you I am a credible source
Ive offered lots of photography advice over the years on this site for many different phones. The latest advice im gonna offer is here and now. With the Nokia Lumia 920.
Want the sharpest and best photos you can get? I think 100% of you will say yes. And guess what, Nokia Pro Cam is NOT the answer! Sure its a great app of course, but very recently something else has blown it away. Its an app from the Microsoft store called "One Shot". It does cost $1.99 but its worth every penny and more.
It has every single function the Pro Cam app has and more. Including being able to adjust sharpness, contrast, brightness (which you cant do in Pro Cam)
It also has manual focus like pro cam. Everything is live effect when you change them. It also has a bunch of filters that are beautifully done. Ive done many many comparisons with this app vs pro cam and there isn't one time pro cam was better. Even ISO3200 shots with "One Shot" are sharp and clear, much nicer looking than pro cams final result. I usually start with my sharpness on 2-3 as my base point just for a fyi. Its unbelievable! You get to set a favorite button in the app to be used as something you desire. I would suggest using it a manual shutter release.
Im not gonna post a million comparison photos, but I did post one photo for you all to see. Both photos were shot at ISO 100, and my phone was mounted so don't worry about shutter speed being low (if it even was)
I posted individual photos of each app and I also posted them side by side in Lightroom 4 compare module so you can see the difference at 100%.
This is my advice to you, whether you choose to listen or not is totally up to you guys. Im not gonna argue about anything. Im simply offering you guys/gals the best of the best.
Good luck and keep shooting!

check guide in pro cam app to learn about setting this but in basics i agree with you... for most people basic camera tool is much than need... Pro Cam is good next step. for next level of quality needs more practice and customization and this most of users not like..

LG V30 in normal camera mode will show moving bands that will actually capture into your photo.
It happens to all the demo units I saw.

Tons of people have posted videos made with the phone, in this forum and on YouTube. They don't have those issues.
There's even pro filmmakers who've made videos with this phone.
Isn't that banding just from recording a screen from a camera?
just two quick videos to refute

Looks like they picked up the refresh rate to me. Using a video camera with a certain rate you can pick up some odd stuff if it's in step with display refresh rates.

It's not from the video recording.. I can actually see it with my own eyes it does that same.
The phone recorded as the way I seen it.
I just want people to tell me does it happen on the retail unit as this is a demo unit from the store.
Also this only happen under normal camera mode. Does not happen in Wide angle, video,...etc.
I think I need to explain this a little better.
This moving band only happen when the phone it's in normal camera mode. Doesn't happen at home screen other app and does not happen in wide angle camera mode or it's video mode.
I checked with 4 different stores' demo they are all acting the same. I am recording it with my phone. I understand there might be refresh rate issue. However, what the phone is showing is what I am seeing.
I am here just to ask if it does happen to retail units. So whatever youtube video people recorded with the V30 doesn't matter because it only happen in normal camera mode.

With all due respect, and I realize I am addressing a mod, he has not shown the problem he claims. He says the bands are being captured IN the photo but he doesn't show any photos. It seems he is making a claim without any proof.

He's saying in photo mode (what he calls "normal" camera mode) with the f/1.6 lens (not f/2.2 wide angle lens) you can TAKE A PICTURE and these bands will be IN the picture taken? He's specifically claiming "bands that will actually capture into your photo".
Where's the photo to prove it? He further claims he saw this in all the demo units in the store, but again does not show any pictures taken with those demo units.
Whereas here's some photos made by a @keithleger in this forum with the f/1.6 lens camera (not the wide angle lens). He shot all these photos in auto mode below with the the f/1.6 lens. No banding IN the photos. These are pictures taken his first weekend of owning the phone..

The proof you should give is to download the output from the demo unit. You claimed ALL the demo units showed this and in my expert opinion, no preproduction units OR retail units have this issue. It would have been noted, believe me. Much less all the demo units in one store,, where bands are captured IN THE PICTURE.
So I showed you the examples you asked for, and you didn't want to hear it.

here is the proof you wanted. It's happen with Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. This was exactly what I saw with the LG v30 demo units. I am guessing LG v30 might be affected as well.
In door lighting causing this. Possible not even usable in some indoor lighting.

Well, not "indoor" lighting but LED lighting. Plus, the Pixels are NOT using the same cameras as the LG V30. And it has NOTHING to do with the LG OLED displays -- because this is captured through the camera sensor. (Just had to say that.)
But if you can prove that's the same issue with the LG V30 camera (either or both of the rear cameras), yes -- that is the proof I was asking for.
Just explain how MANY different cameras (Pixel rear camera, LG V30 f/1.6 camera, maybe also the LG V30 wide angle camera?) all have this and no one has seen it before in all the reviews? It cannot be a "widespread" problem.
It's also not all Pixel cameras, just some. The writer says it doesn't affect his Pixel.
https://www.androidcentral.com/pixel-22xl-exhibits-flickering-when-using-camera-under-led-lights
All LED lights have a natural flicker that ranges from 50 to 60Hz, and it's something that's not perceivable to the human eye. However, certain cameras are capable of picking up this flickering and display it over what you're trying to capture. As fate would have it, the sensor on the Pixel 2 is one such camera.
I personally can't replicate the flickering on my Pixel 2, and according to other users, this is something that's only affecting certain handsets. It's unclear if a software update will be able to fix this, so we'll have to wait and see what the Mothership says.

I actually do not have any general LED lighting in my home, but yes others do. I do have them in my workplace.

I actually do not have any general LED lighting in my home, but yes others do. I do have them in my workplace.
