IMS settings app? - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

Has anyone been able to get carrier features enabled on their unlocked S9+?
**Update: I got all my carrier features working. I just simply installed my carrier's userdata file. I used a modified version of Odin 3.13 to get everything working. So far so good.

I would like to know this as well. When I try to open IMS Settings I get permission denied through Nova or not found through shortcut master.

Intentionally locked out, it seems. The intent doesn't even work on my older S7 either (same package), so that's probably the wrong way to go about it anyway.

I thought one has to have root access to launch IMS Settings and make changes?

I was able to access it with no issues on my note 8 with the US unlocked firmware, stock, no root. I wonder why they changed it.

Same problem on my S8+ since the Oreo update

That might be the key there. I was on nougat on my Note 8 when I was able to access IMS Settings. Something must've changed in Oreo that now blocks it.

There's some interesting hidden settings in activity Settings.RadioInfo ("Phone info"). Any of that help?

On the unlocked note 8 I was able to enable video calling in the dialler. Not a huge deal but I was just curious if anyone had any luck getting to those settings.

That's from an app activity (intent), not from an app. You need an activity launcher or intent shortcut creator like "More Shortcuts" (free app) to launch activities directly. Be careful doing this as some activities will change settings without prompt and/or could impair the functionality of your device.

Nope, and it didn't originally on the note 8. I had to enable it in the Ims settings. I might just switch back to the Verizon firmware. I'm not seeing a ton of advantages, for me, on the unlocked firmware. Are you on unlocked firmware with Verizon?

I am looking for enabling the VoLTE option under IMS Settings. It was working in Nougat. Mine is a Sprint branded Galaxy S8 phone (G950U) and carrier unlocked.
Is there any other way to enable VoLTE(through ADB or other means without root as earlier), so that the option would start appear under the Settings -> Mobile Networks section?
Thanks for your help.

[Solved] [Q] Ignore app state option no longer available, 2.8 beta 2

I noticed a few days ago that Facebook was no longer hibernating when I shut off my screen. It turns out that the option to ignore app state is no longer available, which I was using to hibernate apps like Facebook that always show up as working. Is there a reason for this? Because this option is not available, Greenify will no longer auto-hibernate Facebook. Currently running on a rooted Nexus 6P.

This feature is still available in Greenify and I used it yesterday.
Either Facebook or N6P should be the reason if it is not working for you. Most likely Facebook.

Are you running 2.8 beta 2? It was available on my phone as of a week ago, and the option isn't available for any apps, so it isn't my phone and it isn't Facebook. I recently switched to systemless root, could that be it?
For me is working fine (rooted+Xposed)

Yes, I am on 2.8 beta 2.
Some Apps are not comfortable with the root built into the ROM.
Try SuperSU.

I am using SuperSU, version 2.56 beta with systemless root. I'll try going back to regular root and I'll report on whether or not the ignore running state option comes back.
I'm an idiot. You have to manually hibernate a working app before it gives you the option to ignore running state permanently. Thanks for your help, everybody!
I am on 2.8.1 with root mode. I don't seem to find the manual hibernate option to ignore app state. I got this app that's abusing the state and shows "working" all the time.

Try the way described in the post above yours.
Any specific reason to stick with an older version? If not, update to the latest and then try.

Xposed doesn't have anything to do with this option. I hope you are running it in root or boost mode.
You may not get this option on the App Analyzer screen. When you are on the main screen of Greenify and this app is shown as running, touch it to highlight it. Then click the Zzzz button or the three dot menu, then 'hibernate now'. You should get a dialogue box containing some warnings and also a checkbox within it. Tick the checkbox, then click OK. That is all.

Thanks, this is definitely something I have done in the past on a Samsung device. However, after I had migrated to Nexus 5x I lost this option. I just try to replicate the steps yet once again I don't get any prompt for app state. Sigh.
FYI, yes I am on root mode.

This option is not available for all apps. It is only available for certain apps, may be only those that are persistent.
Why don't you try this on another app and see whether you get the option? By the way, which app is giving you this issue?

Will this work? (CVE-2013-3666)

I can't find anything that says this was patched, here's the original thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338327
The only problem I can find is that the hidden menu doesn't display the WLAN Test to get this to work. Can someone please help?

I looked around and saw that there was NOTHING on a patch, so it could? Though I doubt it with MM (for some reason).
I have the Verizon G5 and I've been trying to pull up the hidden menu but it just won't go. RIP.

Its patched i guess.. They've completely removed the wLan Test activity and service from the menu..
Pretty much a "just remove tht sheeit!!" patch
Sent from my LG-H950 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Not sure if this is the same hidden menu, but tasker lists 4 apps with that name. None of them seem to launch, though.

Has anyone been able to get the stock Android Dialer installed?

Google Play store says it's not compatible; I've tried various APKs and when I go to install they also say incompatible.
That sucks. What might be the cause? I know the S8 can install it.
I'm also having the same issue... The LG phone app is horrendous

As per the notes on the thread, this older version is the only one that fully works on Non-Nexus devices. The newer patched versions may install but are often buggy and lack the necessary framework for spam call rejection and other features.
oh wow...i didn't realize the dialer required framework and such to use those features. kind of second guessing my ordering of the V30 now...

Does your dialer have the voicemail tab? I'm on T-Mobile and have to use T-Mobile's Visual Voicemail app on my unlocked phone. I couldn't get the voicemail tab to show up and there was nothing in the settings that could activate it. I tried a SIM card pulling trick I saw on Reddit but that didn't do it either. Thanks!

You have to ensure that the Google Phone app is actually properly set as your default Dialer/Phone app. I had a similar problem until I did that. Under settings, go to apps and then click on "Configure apps" under the three dot overflow menu on the top right. Make sure the correct app is listed under "Phone app".

This was common issue with apps using accessibility service incorrectly. Check which apps have accessibility service and disable them one by one to see if the issue disappears.

Hi. I m facing same issue. Pls tell me how you fix it. TIA
Another app 'App Freezer' (com.real.clearprocesses) is causing it.
For those who don't know the fix, go to Settings (your phone settings), find 'Accessibility' (it may be inside something like additional settings) and scroll down until you find app names. Check which apps are 'On' and turn them off one by one until it's fixed.
Look also for Switch Access. Probably you changed settings there.

Question N2, Cannot use mobile banking after update, screen record detected

Hi,
I'm using Find N2 (CN rom).
Everything has been fine and I could access mobile banking apps normally until the latest ColorOS update (PGU110_11_A.35).
After this update, all of the banking apps show warning that it detects screen recording or remote control activity.
Some apps only warn and let me proceed, some close itself and not allow to proceed at all.
I have been trying to find the cause by disabling/removing built-in apps, try to locate any possible system apps that may relating to this then force close them,
Nothing work.
Anyone getting the same issue after the update? Anyone manage to fix it?
Please help.
Thanks
