rebranded unlocked - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

Hi Team. Picked up unlocked m10 pro from UK store. Put my 3 sim network in there and it's totally rebranded as a 3 phone (boot animation etc.) And not a factory reset clears it down. Other sims work but I want rid of it really. Any ideas? Thanks

You can't now. Only way is to rebrand it European build C432

Boy I'm glad T-Mobile doesn't do that stuff here in the US!

It's because 3 mobile UK have an exclusive to sell it on contact I believe

Thanks for the input peeps. Rang Huawei and they said ring 3 shouldn't be happening and also swap device 'again' back at carphone whorehouse. I'm no stranger to flashing stuff but there isn't a great deal out there on rebranding to C432 as stated previous. Any decent guides? Cheers

This is the thread you need to rebrand, the other option would be to go back to wherever you bought tickets, swap it for a new handset, get Vodafone SIM, and make sure that's the first sim you install, it has no branding as such, just two apps which can be removed.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ma...-10-flash-oreo-update-package-t3716814/page68

I bought one as well and it's also branded 3 but that's about it, apart from the Huawei apps it's fine
Are your wanting to rebrand because of the splash screen
Sent from my BLA-L09 using Tapatalk

the rebranding for 3 is for a reason i believe but not sure, i've still not received an update from huawei regarding the re-branding of the phones when you place a 3 sim in it.
i think the reason is to allow the phone to use the 3 wifi calling without the actual app, i pixel xl won't work on 3 unless i use the app, but the mate 10 pro works. I've also heard that the wifi calling features of the phone do not work on O2 without an app, so it could be for this reason the phone updates and installs their bootloader.

[Q] can a 3 branded payg sgs2 be unlocked

Hi
I'm looking at picking up a sgs2 phone from the three (3) store on a payg deal. I wanted to quickly check, I should be able to sim unlock this no problems right?
Also are there issues with debranding three versions?
Thanks

Think so

mine came unlocked. what i'm more interested in is if we can have the original three firmware from someone, so that we can slap unbranded one onto the phone and then revert back if we need to (like bringing it back to three in case of a fault or something like that).
If you can sim unlock the SGSII which others have managed via that thread, then why wouldnt you buy the o2 payg for 399 rather than the 3 version for 499.
(At least those were the prices 2wks ago)
My bad, Ive seen theyve taken it off PAYG

Thanks All - I ended up getting one from Phones4U.
Turns out they have completely unlocked stock samsung devices without any bloatware. I thought this better than de-branding & unlocking etc.
Cost was the same, £499 but as it was stock I avoided the costs of unlocking etc.
ohmz55: Would like to have done this, but O2 stopped the deal.
Thanks

If you post the product code and the firmware details (pda, csc, modem) I can try to get it.

O2 no longer offer it online, I was able to get one for £399 from O2 store just yesterday however. The guy in the shop did say he wasn't allowed to sell it on pay as you go but that he was just going to ignore that!

Bought unlocked from CPW... but full of BLOAT as soon as sim added...

Hi bought this in Nov from CPW. Was UK single sim, 128GB unlocked. Every other phone I've bought from CPW has been unlocked and without branding.... as was this one until I installed my three sim, which immediately installed the three splash screen and other three bloat... none of which can be uninstalled.
Bit cheesed off at this, because I detest all the garbage that they load onto phones... and this one has plenty.... deezer etc...
I'm wondering if others from a different network have noticed similar findings... ??? O2 / Vodafone / EE [email protected] installed after sim insertion.... ??? (this might explain why the firmware size is so colossal if all networks are contained in the one version)

Also on Carphone Warehouse with O2. No branding or bloat. Also no update as of yet.

Before I inserted my three sim I had a play with the phone and non of the bloat was installed even tho I purchased it from three. So the phones ship with a standard Huawei firmware and as soon as you insert a SIM it installs all the bloat.
Really this should be optional.
If you remove the SIM and do a factory reset will the three branding still remain?
That's strange... is this a three network only feature... original FW was .115 and pre-installed [email protected] only appeared when sim installed (which was before .124 appeared a couple of weeks ago)... so there are NO bloatware apps at all installed on the O2 network ??? (amazon etc ??)
Was wondering myself if the three branding would get nuked with a factory reset... but can't be bothered with the pain of rebuilding my phone... anybody up for the challenge ??
i did a factory reset to clear the three bloat and splash screen. The first thing i saw as it booted fresh.... Three splash screen
Exactly the same thing happened to me (also Three sim) and it bloated the phone with bloat and branded it to them, mentioned it a few times on this forum, I just hope its not locked it to them after I bought the ruddy thing sim free

It had the usual Google apps and a bunch of Huawei apps, don't remember much else. It's been a couple of months since I set the phone up, so don't remember exactly.

I suspect it might be because only Three have it on contract while Carphonewarehouse (where I got mine) sell it unlocked, sim free...................forcing Three bloat on it though is out of order

Did you remove the three sim before the reset ?
why buy from 700gpb there when some places can get 580 or 600? just curious, I don't really know the scene.
because bootlocker doesn't matter does it to root and custom room these? not like the LG v30 for example?

That would explain why it only seems to be happening to three customers !!!! (didn't know it was a three exclusive)... bit of a poor show though... bit annoyed at the three garbage that can't be uninstalled... but, hey-ho, in the grand scheme it's not the end of the world.... or is it worth an email to CPW to express my annoyance......

The UK Mate 10 Pro situation is a new one. The phones automatically rebrand themselves to the SIM you put in. Even without bloatware, there is an EE branding, a Three branding, a Vodafone branding, and perhaps others that I didn't mention.
You might be able to get around it by first putting in a non-UK sim. Otherwise, you'd need to use a rebranding procedure to set it back, as far as I can tell. I don't have a UK device or SIM to do testing on, but that is what I've gathered so far.
Hello. I saw this issue as well with Orange Romania. As soon as you insert the sim and get signal, those apps install themselves, even if the phone is dual sim, unlocked, etc. As you guys mentioned before about the branding, most of the carriers have to modify the phone`s software in order to offer VoLTE and other services like these. Anyway, I just got like 5 apps from Orange(considering that Huawei`s apps are like 10-15 )) ), and I`m using 2 of them so far, so not a big deal for me.

I'd contact cpw , if you bought it SIM free I'd be expecting a device with no carrier branding, usually devices that carry the three branding are the most deprecated value wise when it comes to resale in past experience

That would depend on whether the phone has now been locked to them after I bought it unlocked, that's when it hits the fan
That's a very good point... Is it unlocked, or has it now locked itself to three....?? Anybody out there got a couple of sims to swap about to see if it is truly unlocked still??
I bought mine unlocked from mobilephonesdirect which is an unlocked device. Inserting my EE sim card didn't add any bloat.

Stop O2 SIM card making system modification to SIM free Mate 10 Pro?

Hi all,
I purchased a Mate 10 Pro SIM free from Carphone Warehouse. However, after inserting a O2 SIM card, there was a pop up message and my phone rebooted automatically. Now there is a folder called O2 recommended with bunch of apps was not there before, and my Vendor ID is now display as O2.
Even after factory reset, those O2 apps still present and the vendor ID still says O2.
I'm going back to Carphone Warehouse to exchange the Mate 10 pro. Is there a way to stopp O2 SIM card make system modification to the new Mate 10 pro? I also have a BT (EE) SIM card as well, if I put the BT SIM card 1st then the O2 SIM card after, will that make a difference? Or if there a cancellation option on the pop up message stopping the modification after put in the O2 SIM card?
This is the 1st time I encounter such strange problem on a SIM free phone. If I buy a Mate 10 Pro from a different store, would that make any difference?
Many thanks

I had the same problems with a three sim, any SIM you insert into a unlocked Mate 10 Pro in the UK will get carrier branding, there is thread here with my struggles

Thank you for the quick reply. Now i'm thinking if it is worth the trouble going to Carphone Warehouse and swap for a new Mate 10 pro.
When I first put my O2 SIM (SIM only contract) in my Mate 10 (Non Pro) which was ALP-L00 rebranded to ALP-L29, I never got any rebranding or O2 folder. Likewise, I just moved to EE and no EE apps, folders or branding anywhere. All completely clean..
Not sure why it's happening to you.
Sounds like it might be a good idea to lob as many complaints as you can coordinate OFCOM's way.
I know and accept that a carrier needs to broadcast APN settings to your 'phone on first connection with a new SIM, but shoe-horning bloatware is just malicious. Your device is effectively being downgraded to the level of a subsidised device from the relevant carrier, without the benefit of the subsidy.
I will find the thread and link it here

Must be a specific UK Mate 10 Pro version thing, I guess since the non pro mate 10 is not officially on sell in the UK, there is no provsion in the firmware to re brand the handset.

It's interesting that Carphone warehouse is also selling pay as you go Mate 10 Pro for the same price as their SIM free version. Since all their phones come
SIM unlocked, I guess they don't differentiate between pay as you go and SIM free. hence their so called SIM free Mate 10 pro rebrand to the 1st SIM card inserted.
Also, there is no mention of SIM Free on my receipt, only the IMEI mumbler and price. So not sure its worth the trouble to see if Carphone Warehouse is will to exchange my Mater 10 pro.

TAB S6 LTE UK Version...can it be used with an Egyptian Sim ?

Hello everyone!
Okay so first off, sorry for having to post my first post as a question.
So I'm from Egypt (we still don't even have the s5e in stores..), I usually get all my tech from Amazon.com, seeing that the LTE variantof the Tab S6 is not available there yet, I went to check out amazon UK(also has global shipping)
I found an LTE variant of the tablet (Can't link it since I'm a new user) but its the "Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 LTE 256 GB 10.5-Inch Tablet - Mountain Grey (UK Version)". Link: amazon.co.uk/dp/B07W4KVH18?tag=dradisplay0bb-21&ascsubtag=8ae47d4591cfa385f0e63929fb543ed4_CT&ref=dra_a_ms_sb_ho_xx_P600_100
I found alot of questions getting answered by (it'll work only after you make a 10 min phone call in the UK using a UK sim card), is this what they call (Unlocking process) ? and is there anyway I can bypass that ? will I even need to do this ? since someone who lives in the EU asked that question and they said it'll work just fine without going through that process. also I use (Vodafone EG) as my carrier
I do apologies for a somewhat silly question, but I don't quite get how the locked/unlocked/GSM/CMDA thingy works
Thank you in advance !
Try putting in the link, but without the http(s)://www bit at the beginning
Oh and it's not at all a silly question.
Was it this one?

Done, and yeah that's the one.
OK, there are two issues.
Service Provider Lock
Region Lock
As this is from Amazon then it should be Service Provider unlocked.
However to stop what are known as 'Grey Imports' where a unit is destined for say the Hong Kong market, to stop it being then re-exported to say the UK they require a HK sim to be installed first (which is why if you but a new unit from Hong Kong it's usually been opened and a sim put in it so that it performs it's initial region check) this then allows you to subsequently install any sim, as long as the first sim is from a matching region.
In this instance I would guess that the unit Amazon are selling are probably region locked to Europe (I'm not certain though obviously), which means the first sim you installed would have to be a euro sim and you would have to do it in Europe for the sim to validate live and disable the region lock.
A potential way around this would be buy a used unit off ebay where the Region Lock has already been deactivated.
Hope the above makes sense, if you need further help and don't want to do it in the thread you could PM me.
Update: I got the tablet from Amazon UK and it worked just fine in Egypt, (I just popped in my Egyptian sim card and turned on the device
I am glad it works well for you.
I am wondering if it will work in the US if I get it from Amazon.uk. T-Mobile only carries the 128gb one; I need the 256gb one.

Noob Question: Dual SIM

I recently bought an unkocked Tmobile OnePlus 7T Pro and a replacement dual sim tray. I'm using Tmobile and SimpleMobile. I believe SM roams of the Tmo network.
The phone does not recognize the second SIM. I have read on the 7 Pro forum that the phone needs the "international rom."
I've tried searching here but haven't had any luck. I'm very new to this stuff, can someone point me to the thread/guide/download for flashing my OnePlus 7T Pro, so I can use my phone?
Just spent $500 on this phone and if I can't get it working, I will have to sell it and find another. Would really like to stay with OnePlus.
Really appreciate any help you have to offer, thanks!
If anyone knows that this is not possible, etc. feel free to let me know. I'm trying to find a different phone that supports dual sim, since my OnePlus seems incapable.

Gonna be a little technical here. Going off the way my 6T works because it's somewhat the same. I have a TMobile branded 6T it doesn't support dual SIM out of the box while being on tmobiles version of OOS also it only comes with a single sim tray. I was able to convert it to the global firmware straight from OnePlus after unlocking the bootloader and installing TWRP and utilizing a tool called MSMtool which is basically the Holy Grail of restore tools. Anyway with being on global firmware I now have support for dual SIM all I would have to is buy a dual SIM tray. As for the 7T pro (I'm guessing McLaren edition with 5G as that's the only one TMobile sells) I'm guessing it works the same way TMobile locked out dual SIM on their version of OOS and shipped it with a single sim tray.
However we did just recently (as in the last couple of days) gotten a working MSMTool, nobody was really experimenting with the device because if you screwed up there wasn't much you could do, now that we have an MSMTool it should make it a lot less of a risk experimenting with the device and seeing what's possible. As for the global conversion for this phone I'm not sure how it would go due to the whole 5G stuff it's possible we get a global conversion akin to the 6T but there's a very strong possibility of losing 5G support (at least I would assume 5G bands in Europe are not the same as the US).
I'd say if you can wait to give it a couple of weeks to a month and see what develops I have a lot of faith in the devs that work on the OnePlus devices. There's also a dedicated forum for the McLaren edition now and I've been reading around about everything.
I apologise if I'm coming off like you don't know what any of these things are I'm just trying to explain it the best I can.
Hey, that was a great explanation. Thank you!

No problem homie anytime, I would highly suggest holding out and seeing how things play out, it's a fantastic phone (currently have my 6T but plan on upgrading very soon to the 7T McLaren) I have very high hopes things will turn around for the better very soon. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me I'll help out as much as I can.
Thanks! I love the phone but returned it today, as the dual sim is a crucial function for me. Once I get the $ back I might get the international one, or maybe a Samsung S10 or Huawei. Been using OnePlus for a long time but it may be time to move on haha
