So here's my problem: I bought my SGS3 in China (CHU firmware)but it doesn't come stock with Google Play Store and a bunch of bloatware I can't even read, Every time I update my firmware (KIES/OTA) i lose my root and all my Google apps. And now I cannot install Gapps on the new 4.3 CHU firmware (recovery gives me error). I'd like to switch to a different firmware that has Google apps native to it. I tired Cyanogenmod for a time but missed some of the features that the Samsung stock firmwares provided. I've also heard about a leaked BTU firmware from the UK that sounds appealing but every time I try to flash (via Odin) it fails. I've also heard that I would need to change my CSC in order to use Kies with a new firmware but my phone only has a single CSC and errors out every time I try to change the CSC. Now quite sure how to proceed.Everything on my phone is in English but sometimes the Chinese still come through ie. error message and even the prompts to get into download mode.
So, does anyone have experience completely changing a phone from one country to another, firmware and all? What about the problems installing Gapps, any ideas?
Help, please!

You can flash stock ROMs compiled by different devs which are deodexed and prerooted(with supersu as system app) and with some performance tweaks like init.d support etc..go to s3 general section and you can find those compiled zip files flashable thru any custom recovery.. But follow the instructions given to flash it and done...you will have the best stock experience and that too which you can customise and with performance and battery tweaks..

Good day to everyone reading this
I spend long time reading this forum before posting, tried a number of ROM, modem updates, but it seems that I cannot make 100% work my Lenovo without your help.
I have brand new Lenovo P780 with problems after flashing ROMs. On battery there are Chineese letters, so I assume I have China version, 4GB.
I've tried around 10 different ROMs. Stock versions, custom ones from getrom webpage, in desparation I tried some russian with the same result.
When I flash to 4.2.X android phone works just fine, I can make calls, GPS works. But I cannot use my camera. Supercamera app stops, flash also is not working. On some ROM I was able to use frontcam, still flash and backcam were not working. Installing different camera apps is not helping.
When I flash to 4.4.X android camera works great, but I don't have network coverage (in most of the ROM ver.). On some of the ROMs in 4.4.X ver. after the reboot SIM cards are active, but after making 2-3 calls they don't have coverage. After next reboot result is the same. Interestingly network are crashing after I use second SIM, if I use only SIM 1 (the one with Internet) coverage works for longer time. After the network crash I cannot use Internet or make calls from any of the SIM until next reboot. There are some frequency issues in Europe, I will be using it in Poland, but I don't get how the phone can work normally on 4.2.X and on 4.4.X frequencies don't match?
I've spend most of my efforts updating (flashing) new ROMs and checking if network problems will be fixed on 4.4.X. When that didn't help I was applying different radios/modems through recovery tools TWRP and CWM but none of the radios I've tried worked (and I tried lots of them). Strangely I discovered that even when I get to install new modem (I got confirmation that all is OK in recovery, install from zip file) broadband version in system information is not changing.
What I will need fro you guys (or girls ) is to advise on the ROM on which I can both make calls and photos from back camera. I really don't care what version of Android will it be, as long as it will work as a phone...
Other solution would be how to update camera firmware on 4.2.X or how to properly update modem on 4.4.X (and what version).
I went already through all the stages of the device - soft brick, hard brick, hard brick not recognized by the PC, so I', not afraid of trying something new.
One thing that may be not 100% clear for me is different versions of the phone, I needed to switch to 2014 bootloader in order to flash some of the ROMs, maybe that's why ROMs were not working for me.
Thank you in advance for any hints!

Hi Stympy,
I saw your post already and tried some of the modems that you uploaded there, surely not all tho..
Before going blindly into the dark let me clarify couple of things:
1) I have China version of my p780 if I have Chinese letters on my battery, yes?
2) I should use China modem or Europa modem for China version of p780 that is to be used in Europe?
3) When I update new modem should the "Baseband Version" change? (in System Settings ↦ Software Information ↦ About Phone at section Baseband Version )
4) If the "Baseband Version" didn't change does it mean that modem was not updated? I'm asking because I got confirmations that zip file were processed normally, but Baseband Version didn't change. Phone also didn't have range afterwards.

1. Lets be clear for the beginning! ALL this phones are made in china!
2. You could install any modem you wish! It depends on your GSM provider. It is true that this modem software is modifyng baseband on your phone! You could see that with MobileUncle Tool if your phone is rooted!
3. Yes.
4. No. The modem software is not installed properly. You probably installed the wrong version of android modem software. Example: JellyBean modem over KitKat firmware.

Hey!
I've managed to force my phone to make calls! I couldn't change my modem due to wrong recovery.
I couldn't change modem before. The problem was with my recovery. When I swapped to recovery_cwm_kk_mod_P780 modem was changed and my phone started to ring, I used kitkat modem europa V52.
Thanks for great work on the forum! Issue is solved so quickly that I'm really amazed!

Sooo... You dont have any custom trecovery installed.
Go to my post Rooting tutorial for KitKat, read the tutorial, download recovery for Baralajbi firmware and install custom recovery.
Or install MobileUncle Tool, give app root rights download the recovery from my post unzip, put it on the root internal partition, , start MobileUncle Tool, go to recovery option and install the first recovery that appears there.
Good luck.

thanx stympy.
my mobile had bicked again today. so this time i flashed it with the original 4.2 version. ie P780_ROW_S123_131231_rooted_twrp_gapps by baralajbi
now 2g is also available.
in this i checked the band mode. here in UTMS mode WCDMA-IMT-2000 and WCDMA-GSM-900 both are enabled. so i guess there lies the catch.
if it bricks once more then i will try out ur recommendation also and thanx for educating me

If the link is expired Get it from the Asus ZenFone 3 Ultra Support and Firmware Website under Drivers and Tools-ANDROID Section. It is for the WW Version:
UPDATE! :OTA Update Working ONLY with phones with LOCKED Bootloaders. The Manual Update will work with both LOCKED and UNLOCKED Bootloaders. I have tested the OTA Update and after I unlocked my ZF3U's bootloader, I can no longer get update notification (on my previous ZF3U-I am on my 2nd one). From what I have read, ASUS servers block any devices with unlocked bootloaders from accessing automatic system updates. My only option is to find a way to RELOCK the bootloader or use the Manual Update file.
Enjoy!
Changelog:
Android 7.0 Nougat comes with handful of features such as App Shortcuts, Multi Window support, restart setting to power menu, Launch the camera by pressing the power button twice, Image Keyboard support, 100 emoji added, GIF Support, Quick Reply via Notification, Notification Redesigned panel, Notifications prioritization, Enhanced Doze Mode, System UI Tuner, Customizable Quick Settings, Don Not Disturb, New Settings Panel Redesigned, Data Saver per App, seamless updates and New Emoji Support.

The Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra is now receiving the Android 7.0 Nougat update with software version 14.1010.1702.36. The update is rolling out over-the-air.
Check for it from Settings > About > System Updates on your Zenfone 3 Ultra. If you’ve got the update, go ahead and download/install it.
It appears to be currently available for the WW (Worldwide Version)
Currently no manual install file is available but I guess this will be available very soon. I also think this may be the first and last final update from ASUS for the ZF3U before they launch another version but it is nice to have the newest version after all and I very much look foreard to making use of multi-window on the device.

Mine is WW version but couldn't receive the update yet. Why?

It may be because your Bootloader is unlocked. If it is you will not receive the update. My ZF3U's bootloader was locked when I received the update. However, when I unlocked the bootloader, rooted and then decided to wipe everything through TWRP to do a fresh install of everything to reinstall Android 7.0 the trouble started. Now, I cannot do firmware update using the system Update menu (notification of update availability is not there). This is because the bootloader is now unlocked and I don't know if it is possible to relock it. I guess I have to wait for the full manual package of Android 7 to become available or see if anyone can help me to relock the bootloader and then update from Android 6.0 original firmware. I was excited to be finally getting Android 7.0 but only managed to use it for 1 day. Oh well, you live and learn.:crying:

UPDATE! As some of us have found out. ASUS has now removed the Nougat firmware (MANUAL Update file) for the ZF3U. As my device's bootloader is unlocked I can no longer receive OTA updates. Perhaps someone could give us an update on the status of the OTA release of Nougat for the ZF3U. I have downloaded the file before removal and successfully installed it. I don't mind uploading it to a file sharing website. However, I am currently using it and I am still having the same issues I had when I used the OTA update, so my advice is for everyone to wait for a confirmed final version of the firmware as the version we have may still be buggy. This may be the reason why they removed it and lets hope they fix and reupload soon. Here are quick my observations of the firmware;
-Fingerprint scanner still not registering when device is setup for the first time or under settings later,
-Screen Rotation is not functional on some of my apps that were able to use it previously with Android 6.0
-My device serial nunber has changed to 111111111111111 (15x1s)( I tried lots of things to put it right but all attempts failed)
-Dual Sim settings access from the notification menu shortcuts is no longer there (it was very useful for me),
-Multi-Window is not operating on all the apps for some reason. On the OTA that i had installed I was able to use it but on the manual firmware file this does not seem to work properly.
-My device is no longer showing under my ASUS account as a registered device (I don't know if this is a firmware issue or not as bootloader does show the correct serial no)
Also, does anyone know how or where in the firmware I can extract the boot.img, recovery.img and all the othr essential .img files to restore stocj recovery after root/twrp installation?
If anyone has any ideas as to why the serial number and fingerprint issues are there, I would like to hear from you. Other issues are tolerable. Thanks.

After some thought on your issue, do you now which version of the device you have? Maybe you have an China(CN) device and not World Wide(WW)? Just trying to think about your issues and it seems to possibly be that your firmware may not working correctly. This very well maybe because ASUS dropped a faulty firmware on you/us, or maybe because you tried WW firmware on a CN device? Or vice versa? Have you looked into what would happen if a firmware for a different region was installed on a device?
As for the images, I believe you can get the boot.img inside the firmware zip files you download from ASUS. Just unpack it and the boot.img should be in the root of that folder. I can't find the recovery.img from anywhere, other than from Shaka's megadownload page. I was able to get that one working on my Zenfone though and successfully put my Zf3U back to stock.

Thanks for the reply. My version of ZF3U is the Worldwide WW version and the firmware is definitely the correct one as stated on the original changelog from ASUS as I posted above. I have not tried the CN firmware but I am tempted to give it a go to see what happens. I also noticed that everytime I go into recovery via TWRP I see this red message stating "failed to mount factory/partition [invalid parameters]"
What does this mean and could the phone be stuck between two firmwares and not sure what to do even though I have wiped every wipeable area using TWRP(like I used to with Samsung devices but not sure if this could have caused it). Could this explain why I still cannot use fingerprint scanner on neither Android 7 nor Android 6.
At one point I used the ASUS Flash Tool and I noticed a message whilst attempting to load the firmware stating something like 'encrypting device.....' does this mean anything? Has my device been encrypted somehow in the process resulting in lack of fingerprint registrations on the scanner. Coming from Samsung/Sony/Huawei devices, I am finding the update process with ASUS a bit of a hassle but lets hope they will fix this soon as I believe that currently there is no phablet better than ZF3U. Due to the fact that the firmware has now been removed from their servers, I am beginning to believe that the firmware is faulty and is not doing a clean wipe/reinstall of all parts of the device configurations.

hhhmmm, I had a similar issue with a corrupted cache partition that was causing boot loops. I was able to get it fixed. Try this. Download the latest WW firmware from the website, MM no nougat. Then flash the original boot.img and recovery.img from Shaka's megadownload page. Boot into stock recovery and do a factory reset. They should wipe all the partitions and format them again. After that install update from SD card and choose the latest WW firmware zip you just downloaded. Profit??

I have tried your suggestion numerous times and;
-it appears that when I boot to Android M, I don't have any sound in calls, fingerprint and other issues fully remain.
-when I upgrade to Android N, then Iam able to hear call sounds but fingerprint scanner still does not register and other issues still remain.
I have a feeling that somewhere along the process my device has enabled some sort of encryption and this is preventing the device from enabling all the features. No matter how many times I install/reinstall/wipe using stock or TWRP no change.
Does anyome know how I could disable encryption either using some sort of google service or through root etc... In settings device reports that it is encrypted. Also when I first booted the device after firmware update encrypting device message was shown. Not sure whats going on with my device. Hope to find out/fix soon though.

Hey @AWFRONT How did u manage to go back from android 7 to 6 ...i recently updated my phone to nougat and want to go back to mm. Could u help me out I have unlocked bootloader
Hi! I did not downgrade from Android 7.0 to 6.0 on my new/2nd ZF3U. If you read a post I made in another topic you will see that I am now on my 2nd ZF3U because the 1st one had some serious issues and then it powered off so I gave up and sent for repair through my insurance but they said it could not be repaired so I bought another one with the payout I received and this one I am using, I use in its factory state with Bootloader locked and unrooted and given the lack of developer support for this handset, I do not want to modify anything.
My advice would be to stick with Android 7.0 and if there are any features you are missing then write them out and send to Asus and hope thy will fix in future update. With my previous ZF3U, I did do a downgrade on the 1st ZF3U but this resulted in Fingerprint scanner failing and I could not hear the other side when making and receiving calls and the device serial number in About Phone section was incorrect (changed to all 1s).Unless you have insurance and a spare phone, I would not recommend you downgrading. Too much of a risk with this handset. If you want to do it, then go ahead and you can share yoir findings here.
Instructions to follow:
-Disable and erase fngerprint records in settings
-Prepare a microsd card with the MM manual firmware in it and reboot into recovery.
-If you are rooted then wipe cache and factory reset but do not wipe data/system partition,
-Select update from SD Card and select firmware file and wait for the process to complete.
-reboot back.into recovery, you should hopefully see the factory kernel has downgraded to I think version 1.26 from 3.11 and then do another factory wipe and reboot and see the results.
Sorry, cannot be of much help but I wish the developers could pay a little bit more attention to this device like the Samsung Note series.?

all of this from twrp or stock recovery
If you have TWRP installed then apply from it, if not you can use the stock recovery of Android 6.0 as posted in one of the topics of ZF3U forum sections and flash it using custom recovery and then flash the appropriate firmware file of Android MM version 6.0 and on completion wipe cache, factory data and reboot.
Due to lack of developer support for this device, I do not recommend that you rollback the firmware. When my 1st device failed I realised that ASUS devices don't have the software fixability ease of Samsung devices so I am using my 2nd ZF3U in its original factory state. I love the device as it is and don't want to mess with it and root is no longer important to me.

mine is

anybody updated to WW-14.1010.1711.62 is it still 7.0 or 7.1.1
Actually, I have my phone with the bootloader and the frd unlocked. Also I have it with a TWRP recovery flashed and rooted too. I have the problem with the flash and the capacitive buttons not working (B183).
Now the system is asking to me to update to 8.0.0.360 (Oreo as I guess). My questions are:
- If I flash the B183 stock recovery and allow the system to update, shoud it work properly?
- In any case, updating to Oreo should solve my problems with the flash and the capacitive buttons?
I've attached a screenshot in with the system show me my actual version and the one which is asking to update to.
I'm not an expert in this matter so sorry in advance about my ignorance, because I can't found any clear answer in the forums for these questions.
Thank you for your help.

No they will not work you have to go back to the B130 nougat and then upgrade up to hours or B360 unlock the new bootloader and mount recovery for hours or see attached links https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/firmware-huawei-honor-9-stf-l09-stock-t3696892 https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/oreo-t3754483
If you flash the B183 stock recovery and allow the system to update, it will update properly.
Once on Oreo you could flash a kernel fix to repair flashlight and the capacitive buttons.
Finally solved
Thank you for your help, I finally solved my problems with the capacitive buttos and flashlight and I've upgraded to Oreo 8.0.0, everything working with TWRP recovery and root permissions. Finally, I took some of your ideas, another ideas from other posts and my own experience. As a guide for people in my similar situation. I don't enter in commands or minor details, If you don't know what you're doing, maybe you shouldn't do this.
I post the exact steps to follow:
I was concerned about let the phone upgrading directly with OTA from 183 to Oreo, even if a flashed before the 183 stock recovery. So I dowgraded first to 120 (STF-L09C432B120) using HWOTA method (https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/how-to/guide-honor-9-t3653719).
Once in 120 I had my capacitive and flashlight working again.
I installed Android Firmware Finder and I upgraded, in my case, using DNS (VPN) upgrading method to 183 (firmware_STF-L09C432B183), and later, doing the same before, to Oreo (firmware STF-L09C432B362 (8.0.0.362))(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teammt.gmanrainy.huaweifirmwarefinder&hl=es). I felt more sure upgrading first to 183 and later to Oreo, than upgrading directly from 120 to Oreo, but it could work.
Once in Oreo I flashed a Oreo TWRP (https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/oreo-t3754483).
From the TWRP, I installed Magisk, to have root acces (https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445).
Notes about the process:
Before upgrading/downgrading to each new version, be sure you have 'boot unlocked' and 'frp unlocked' in fastboot. Also ensure having USB debugging enabled (that in my case I have to enable twice or three times to fix it enabled, I don't know the cause).
After upgrading/downgrading to each version, it's more than probably that your phone doesn't boot ar first. In my case, it eventually booted to stock recovery (if not force to enter in it booting with up+power button). Then you will have to do a 'factory reset', and after the process, it even may doesnt' be able to boot yet. Enter then recovery again and now you should have the option to wipe the cache. After that surely the phone will boot. If not, do a factory reset again.
As you can see, the process is long, be sure you have enough charged your phone before each upgrade/downgrade at least.
Important, actually FlashFire doesn't work with Magisk versions superior to 1.4 as I know. So before start, be sure you use another method to backup your data and internal storage partitions, if you need it.
I want to do a factory reset on my Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J710FXXU6CSK1),not previously flashed, however I need to use a password when factory resetting through Settings, which I cannot recover, even after confirming using my email adress. My best bet is to wipe everything, and manually install the firmware through Odin. I did not find the firmware for the exact version I currently have, however I am currently downloading a similar version through updato (J710FXXU6CSK2) . Now,this version is localised for India, and I live in Europe. Would installing this version risk bricking my phone? A barely usable device is better than an unusable device.
I'd like to mention that I have searched for the same issue on XDA , and I have not found anything so far, at least concerning this device/model. Secondly, even though I am not completely new to flashing with Odin(I managed to save a bricked Samsung Galaxy Core II a few months ago),I'm still unfamiliar with how to use Odin, and don't really remember exactly what I did the last time.
1)I heard that specific versions of Odin work on specific models. Is that true? I have "Odin3 v3.13.1_3B_PatcheD.exe" downloaded, will that work for my device?
2)Once(if) I have the firmware downloaded and everything connected ,where should I "put" the firmware on Odin?(It is in the AP box if Iremember correctly, though I could be completely wrong, please correct me if I am)
3)Will I be asked to enter the same password I mentioned earlier if I do it manually?(Through the android boot menu)
4)If I am required to enter a password, is there any way I could bypass it?
5)I know I could have searched for this last question on my own, but if anyone could be kind enough to link me to an Odin tutorial, I would really appreciate it! Last time, I had to gather small bits of how it worked from many different sources.

Hi,
If your device is working correctly i suggest to do a factory reset from recovery menu instead of flashing again. thats simple, no password required. https://www.verizon.com/support/kno...old the Volume,Select Wipe data/factory reset.
you have to flash firmware specific to country. you can find a specific firmmware here - https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-J710FN
Even if you flash a different firmware, you may not get network, but that can be corrected by flashing a correct firmware again.
you have to extract the firmware downloaded and specify files in odin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6gyc5wsuE0&ab_channel=GSM-ABC
